Every so often I’ll check up on Lego.com to see what new stuff they’ve released. This is only because the Lego aisle at my local Target is never up to date nor extensive enough. To my surprise I found that Lego has teamed up with Toy Story for their latest in licensed themes. Although I still love it the most when Lego has completely original designs and themes (like Castle, Space, Ninja), I must admit that cross branding and licensing (starting with Star Wars in 1999) was one of the smartest business moves they made. From Harry Potter, Spongebob, and Indiana Jones themes… these new Toy Story ones are pretty dang cool. Legos… AND Toy Story?! It’s like seeing two of my favorite musicians do a duet together, or my favorite YouTubers working on a project together, har har. (so many secrets)

My favorites models are the RC car above, and the army men below. That’s pretty tight huh? A toy, of a toy… of a toy. My mind is blown.
 More models are set to be released in Summer, just in time for their release of Toy Story 3. All this talk of Lego…dang, I really needa set aside a night to just…play w/ Legos.

Check out our newest video. A simple one just poking fun at how little guys have to do to get ready to go out. The idea just came one night on the drive to dinner. I had just seen a makeup tutorial online and thought, wow, there are so many things for a girl to do with makeup… and inversely thought, it’d be funny if a guy made a something of the sort. Wes and Ted had the good idea of giving “Rick” a backstory just to give it a little more depth, hence the “ex girlfriend”. Hope you enjoy, and hopefully you don’t listen to his advice. I’m actually afraid of ppl watching and thinking…”oh, i only need to shower once a month!”. Pass it on if you enjoyed, or if you know someone who needs this advice. NOTE: This video was not meant to tease makeup gurus, we think they’re cool. This video is meant to tease guys.

BLOOPERS

Here are the outtakes. Performance wise, this was more difficult than I had anticipated. We wanted to do long takes, with long wordy lines. In the beginning I’d go on for a minute, and then mess up at the very end of the line, which is why you’ll see the frustration in the first few clips. It was also hard to stay “in character”, I hope I don’t sound that douchey in real life.

Teddy Zee (producer of Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch, Saving Face) united the community to help this special non profit organization, CPAF, in the Chase Community Giving competition. Everyone is talking about Haiti right now. And for good reason. It’s sad that these kinds of things happen so often around the world. From one earthquake, to a flood, to a typhoon, to another earthquake. But it’s time’s like this when those of us who are fortunate enough to not be directly affected by these disasters should lend a hand. In reality, what Haiti needs the most right now is man power and people to be helping on the ground, but since that’s not an option for us, the least we can do is donate to help monetarily.

As you know, ever since we relaunched the Wong Fu store in August we’ve been giving portions of the revenue earned and donating to different charities each month. So far over $1000 has been sent to the Philippines, Breast Cancer research, and Taiwan earthquake relief. This month we will be donating to UNICEF’s efforts in Haiti. With your help we can send hundreds of dollars over. Visit the store HERE and we’ll donate.

And if you’d rather send directly there are many very easy options to do this.

For the past 2 1/2 years we’ve been selling our first and only feature length movie “A Moment with You” in our store. Over the last few months we saw that the stock was getting low, but we sorta kept it to ourselves rather than make an announcement “AMY DVDs selling out, wont’ be restocked!! fOREVER!! GET YOURS NOW!!”. So if you happened to get your hands on one, lucky you…we won’t be reprinting any new DVDs, for awhile.

Why you ask? Well the main reason is because… it’s pretty old. We made the movie in 2006 and feel like it’s not the best representation of our work anymore as we feel, and hope, that we’ve improved a lot in our writing, directing, shooting, and editing since then. But who knows, maybe someday down the line we’ll bring it out of the vault, a la Disney, and release a new, remastered version or something.

Until then, this really closes the book on”AMY“. It was a really huge project that propelled us out of college and into the real world. We learned so much from it, and looking back, I’m so glad we devoted that year to that project. Things were a lot different when we started making that movie. The 3 of us were just starting to get serious with “Wong Fu”, we had never done any tours, Yellow Fever and “NG” didn’t exist yet. wow.
