Good afternoon everyone, its a bit chilly here in New-Brunswick today but my guy has the wood stove burning nicely downstairs so its nice and cozy by the computer as I post my blog to you. Today I have some rug hooking patterns up for sale by Deanne Fitzpatrick, whom we just adore around here. If you have never been to her blog, you have to check it out here: http://blog.hookingrugs.com. Sorry for the bad pictures, I can't seem to make them look any better. You might be able to see them better on Deanne's website to give you a better idea of the design.
Hello everyone, I'd like to show you a few things that I have for sale today in my little shop. But first I would like to tell you what I have been doing today. My little craft shop/working studio has been so messy since the summer that I could barely move around in there and I think that's why I haven't been very creative as of late. So I wanted to start the new year on a clean slate by getting my work area back in order and hopefully get some creative juices flowing. So I spent most of the day cleaning and throwing out and putting things back where they belong. I was to embarrassed to show you the before pics of the mess, but did take some after pics. When I look at these pictures, it still looks a bit messy but really it isn't. I even vacuumed and dusted. I bought tubs and sorted out my wool by color, even the leftover snippets are all in their little bins by color. So here are the studio pictures.

Now getting back to my Sunday Sale. I'm hoping to be able to sell out of most of the things you can and cannot see in these pictures, so I can have more space to do more crafts(sewing, hooking, felting and prim painting). I thought I would do a sale on Sundays and post it on the blog. I say Sunday because its the only day that I have time to do this and hopefully there will be things that interest you.

WOOL GARDEN SUNDAY SALE

MENO TRIGGER GRIP

$24 PLUS SHIPPING

I have one hook left for sale in its package. This is a hook that can be held in different ways for people that have wrist problems due to arthritis or other problems. The length of the hook itself is 1 3/4" long and is a primitive hook. Here is a link for more information on the Meno Trigger Grip:
http://www.menotriggergrip.com/

WOOL FELT
$3 PLUS SHIPPING
13 1/2" X 19 1/2"

This wool has a nice primitive antique gold color to it. The wool is felted and a bit hard on the wrist to hook with since its a bit thick to hook with but would be great for wool appliques.

SPOT DYED WOOL(OPAL)
$11 PLUS SHIPPING
Happy New Year folks. I wish everyone health and happiness in this new year. I thought I would show you the little gifts that entered our lives, thanks to the Miramichi SPCA on Christmas Eve. We adopted 2 great looking cats from they're barn buddy program. So our thanks go out to the SPCA manager and also a big thank you to Cara and her husband Matt, who were kind enough to drive down with Blackie and Marbles and to drop them off to us. We are also thankful to hear that Cara has found her dog Jazz after 34 days of being lost. This is a very sad story that has a happy ending and Jazz's story was also in our local newspaper. To read more about it click here http://timestranscript.canadaeast.com/front/article/1467926
So I would now like to introduce Marbles and Blackie:

Marbles is about 2years old we think and has been at the SPCA for a year now according to the manager.
He was very shy with us for the first 4 days and kept away from us but since then, he has come out of his shell and is starting to be more affectionate with us.

Now Blackie is 8 years old so I'm told and has been at the SPCA for a few months now. He's been very affectionate since day one and he's also a little bully and likes to have all the attention and doesn't like it when we give it to Marbles at the same time because Blackie walks over and hits Marbles on the head. There's lots of love to go around boys. Marbles and Blackie seem to be settling in well this week and by next week or so we will let them go outside with us but they will mainly stay in the garage to hunt the mice and hang around with us outside. We already have 2 indoor kitties who are way to pampered already since they wouldn't know what to do with a mouse if they saw it. Believe me I know.........cause I saw it.lol.

Well I would like to start by saying hello to all of my blogging friends out there. It feels a bit weird to be blogging again since we're having such a hard time with our Satellite internet service, it takes time trying to post things now. I almost forgot how to post a blog and I haven't posted since September I think. If our internet service doesn't frustrate me to much, hopefully I will be posting back regularly now. I thought I would start tonight's posting by showing you some little hand made gifts that I made for Christmas presents this year.

This one I made for my BFF. I primed up a little wooden frame and inserted a punch needle heart that I did on a piece of wool blanket. She said she was going to put it down in her woman cave with all her favorite things.

This is a prim sheep I made from my wool material. He's very primitive with a low back. This was also for BFF.

This next one is for a good friend of mine at work. I primed up a little box and also did a punch needle heart.

This last one was for my boss to put in her office. Its a small heart that I also needle punched and glued it to a small wooden frame that had a hanger on top of it. I was in a heart mood and did a few as you can see.

Well that's it for tonight folks and I will see you back here again soon.

I just finished this wooden box and a shelf today but I will leave the shelf for tomorow. This great prim box would look great with a hooked mat on the cover or looks great as is. I painted the base color with a chocolate brown and the top coat with a country blue. Primed it up a bit to show the brown underneath and finished it off with a walnut stain to tone down the blue. As you can see I left the original color inside the box since it had a neat checker board insert on the inside cover. This box would be great to hold your craft projects and collectables. There are also little clasps on each side of the cover on the front. It also has 4 little wooden knobs underneath the box.
Mesurements are: 14 1/4" long X 9 1/2" wide X 5 3/4" high from the back and 3 1/4" deep.
I found this freebie pattern on a great little pattern site called
hudsonsholidays.blogspot.com
I also had a small wood cutting board that I had repainted to look more primitive. It actually is antique blue but in the photo it looks more antique black. So I glued the mat on to the board so you can hang it up on the wall.
Mesurements are:14" X 7"(cutting board)and 8" X 6"(hooked mat)
I painted the box with a brown color then overpainted with black paint. Scruffed it up a bit then applied a light coat of walnut stain to give it that worn look. It also has a wire handle with a wooden knob. I don't find the photo shows the primitive look to well though. Mesurements are: 9 1/2"L X 5"W X 5 1/2"H.
Here is a wood candle holder that I painted with and old rose color and repainted it over with black paint then sanded down to make it more primitive looking, then finished it off with a walnut stain. I also stained the little cross stitch pattern to make it look more rustic(looks lighter in the picture then it really is). The pattern is of a little country angel holding a heart with tulips on each side of her and little hearts down below. The candle holder mesures 14 1/4"long X 6 1/4" at its widest part.
I have been lurking now and then, but not creating so I thought I would start today with an Art exhibit that may be to late to post since its today but at least the word will get out there that there is a new Art Gallery in Moncton,NB. So for the locals or tourist that might be around Moncton this summer I have two Exhibits that I want to post.

First up is the Artisans Village Art Expo thats going on today and a very good friend of mine will be there also to show her art. I"m hoping to get there sometime today and will take pictures to show you for those who won't be able to make it. Here is the info.

The New Artisan Village is holding an Art Expo and an introduction to the Artisan Village space this Sunday. Details are below.

The “Salon des Refuses” a famous moment in modern art, to be mirrored in Moncton on July24, at a new downtown art and craft complex

What we know today as “modern art” first burst into public awareness at the famous "Salon des Refusés," exhibition in Paris in 1863.

The artists who exhibited at this legendary show had all been refused entry into the official “Salon,” among them some of the great names in the development of impressionism.

With that background in mind, and with the City of Moncton's annual juried show just now opened at the City Hall Gallery, The Artisan Village, Moncton’s new, downtown open workshop, gallery, and cafe complex is presenting a “Salon Des Refuses” on a local scale for artists not accepted into the City show.

“Given there were far more submissions than the City could accept,” says Artisan Village initiator Shane Myers, “we thought it might be fun (as well as instructive and worthwhile) to mirror that great art event by hosting our own ‘Salon Des Refuses,’ together with an open house day to introduce the Artisan Village itself. It’s a new facility, a new concept, people are talking about it, so the “Salon” is a fine way to give people a first look at the space while the individual studios/workshops and other amenities are still in the process of being set up.”

The “Salon des Refuses” and the Artisan Village open house will be held on Sunday, July 24th, from 10 am to 5 pm at the Artisan Village, 465 Main Street.

An 8,000 square foot studio space complex, the new Artisan Village on East Main Street is housed in the big industrial building behind the skateboard shop immediately opposite Bore Park. When fully occupied, sculptors, potters, stonecutters, ornamental ironworkers, ceramic artists and others will practice their craft or art in fourteen or more separate alcove-studios, all in public view and complemented by a café and gallery combination. There is nothing like it in all Atlantic Canada.

The second one is a Rug Hooking Exhibit that is going on now at the Capitol Theatre until the end of August. I was sorry that I couldn't make it to the opening night to hear the girls talk about their rugs and listen to the music that inspired them to make these contemporary pieces of art. I didn't mesure the rugs but they look like they would be 36"X36". I also apologize for some of the low light colors in these pieces because of my camera. They really have to be seen to be appreciated better than looking at the pictures from my camera. Here is some info on the exhibit and I will post some pictures today and in the following days. I must say they are all beautiful rugs with each their own talent in expressing their music.

the latest creations of contemporary hooked rugs by LES HOOKEUSES DU BOR,DE,LO. Executed with passion and a very contemporary approach, 19 artworks are presented, each one colorful and largely inspired by music.
The rug itself is only 2 3/4" X 2" and the little wooden tilting frame is only 5 1/4 long X4" wide X 4" high. Its a great little piece to put inside a doll house or it would make a great little gift for the rug hooker that has everything. I also took a picture with a regular hook on the rug to give you some perspective on how small it is.
As I was walking about checking the flower beds in the back that are just finally showing that they survived, I spotted three gorgeous giant tulips that my hubby planted last fall by the little shed. I had to take pictures and thought I would show you since the sun was so bright against the shed. They almost look plastic, can you see the little knome hiding within the flowers? I envy all the southern American gals that have been blogging about their gardens and flower beds, since we are so behind in the season this year. Now we can finally see the light here in the Maritimes. So here are my giant short tulips.
