LITTLE BASKETS FOR SALE

Long and slim handmade reed basket

This basket is quite long but has many uses, as you can see in these photos. These are just simple ideas but I"m sure there are numerous things this long basket can be used for.
The basket measures 31" x 6" at the base and 34"x 8.5" at the top. Its 4 1/4" high to the rim and 9 1/4" to the top of handle.

Handmade reed market basket

This is a great basket to take to the market with you or maybe a place to store your favorite magazines.
I stained this basket with a coffee stain to give it that natural weathered look and will get darker with time.
The base measures 8 1/4" X 15" X 7 1/2" to the rim and 14" to the handle. As you can see I'm not great at taking pictures, but I think the first picture is as close to the real color of the basket.

Hooked rose mat and prim stool

In case your wondering, I am still doing some rug hooking. So here is my latest little project that I worked on over the weekend. I found this small vintage wooden stool and decided to hook a mat and put it on top. The pattern is a primitive rose that I hooked on Scottish burlap then glued it to the stool. I painted the stool with a black paint then scuffed it up to make it look a bit more primitive. I hope you like it
The measurements are: 12.5" x 9" x 9.5" tall

This sweet little basket is great for hanging on the wall and keeping your mail organized or just about anything. Maybe even dried flowers, or candle sticks...
You can put really anything that's light weight in it. The basket is stained with a water base stain, so very little odor. The base measures 7.5"x3.5" and the top is 8.5"x7" x 6.5" high to the rim

Gathering basket with vintage wrought iron handle

I just made this basket and added the stain last night. I also hand dyed the wine and blue reeds that you see in the basket. It also has a lovely vintage wrought iron handle that I attached with black wire. I love the rustic look of the handle and as you can see in the photo there is a bit of rust here and there to give it that vintage look. The basket measure 20" long x 10" wide and 6" up to the basket and 13" to top of handle.

For Sale Buddha Board off topic

I know this has nothing to do with rug hooking or basket weaving but I thought I would post these here. If you don't know what a Buddha board is, go on Google and do a search. Its a Zen thing and the art of letting go. I have one original Buddha board and one laptop style buddha board in black that has never been opened and still in its original package. I also have 4 mini buddha boards 5"x5". One each in pink,blue,black and red, also in its original package and never opened.

Kindling basket for sale

I just finished this one and its called a kindling basket but can be used for whatever your heart desires. Its about 13.5" tall and 11 1/4" wide. The base measures 7"x 7". I"m not crazy how the stain absorbed in some areas as you can see on the exterior bottom of basket but it sure makes it look rustic.

I made a snippet basket today( its what rug hookers put snips of wool into while they hook their rugs). This basket is also very versatile so you can use it very almost anything. It measures about 6" high including legs, 7" long and 6.5" wide. I will be making more of these to sell with more embellishment on the front.

UPDATE ON THE BASKET

I finished it, I finished it..............I couldn't wait to get started on the weaving after I made the base this morning. Around 3pm I started putting in the weavers, then stopped for about 1.5 hours to help with supper and eat. I think I finished around 8pm. As you can see the basket wasn't even dry when I took the picture . I made a boo-boo mistake and had to change it a bit, but in the end I think it worked out ok. I"m learning as I make them. I"ll stain this basket during the week and show you what the before and after looks like. Please let me know if you prefer it stained or natural. Thanks Julia for always posting a kind remark, this post is for you kiddo.........

THE BEGINNINGS OF MY THIRD BASKET

Ok, so here is the beginning of my third basket I started this morning. I wanted to get the base done while it was fresh in my mind and hopefully finish it up tonight. I was looking at one of my many baskets that I have on hand and liked the way the base was made. So after looking at it for quite awhile last night, I think I figured out how to do it and voila. I"m sure I went about it the hard way but it still looks good enough that you really can't see to much where I started and finished the reeds. This basket should measure about 10" long and 6" tall and will had a nice square handle. I found a great card table for $9 at Value Village the other day and its great for making baskets on, because I have to keep my reeds wet while working with them. My work table in my wool room is full of, well you know............. Just having lunch now and DH and I will go for a walk in the woods while its so nice and mild out here today. Can't wait to get back to it tonight though. I'll keep you posted.

My second basket without a pattern

I decided to make another basket last weekend. I got a bit braver and decided to make a candle basket from a basket I already had. I guess once you know the basics of basket weaving you don't really need a specific pattern. Its not quite the same height as I would have like it but I think its cute anyway. I even dyed the red reeds. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to stain the basket but will post it if I do. This little candle/scissor basket measures about 6" high without the handle.
So here it is.
Now on to a bigger one with a handle, stay tuned.....................

Starting something new

I have always been interested in basket weaving and I must have at least 15-20 baskets that I have collected over the years from antique stores, flea markets and craft shows. So I took a beginner class in November and fell in love with the process. I thought I would show you the basket I made that day Its called a square bottom round basket, measuring 11" in diameter and about 6.5" tall. You never know where this new craft is going to take me now.

Recycled Wool Skirts For Sale

I'm getting rid of a lot of recycled wool skirts that I have collected for rug hooking but will probably never use, so I"m de-stashing what I can. I'm selling the skirts $2 a piece or for a certain price when bundled together. Most of these skirts are 100% wool or 80%. They are all washed and taken apart and ready to cut and hook with. These skirts are great for over dying or marbleizing with others . If there is a certain color your looking for, just let me know and I may have it. Most of these skirts are primitive colors and great for the old primitive look in your rugs.

THE WOOL GARDEN SUNDAY SALE

Hello everyone, I'd like to show you a few things that I have for sale today in my little shop. But first I would like to tell you what I have been doing today. My little craft shop/working studio has been so messy since the summer that I could barely move around in there and I think that's why I haven't been very creative as of late. So I wanted to start the new year on a clean slate by getting my work area back in order and hopefully get some creative juices flowing. So I spent most of the day cleaning and throwing out and putting things back where they belong. I was to embarrassed to show you the before pics of the mess, but did take some after pics. When I look at these pictures, it still looks a bit messy but really it isn't. I even vacuumed and dusted. I bought tubs and sorted out my wool by color, even the leftover snippets are all in their little bins by color. So here are the studio pictures.

Now getting back to my Sunday Sale. I'm hoping to be able to sell out of most of the things you can and cannot see in these pictures, so I can have more space to do more crafts(sewing, hooking, felting and prim painting). I thought I would do a sale on Sundays and post it on the blog. I say Sunday because its the only day that I have time to do this and hopefully there will be things that interest you.

OUR CHRISTMAS GIFT

Happy New Year folks. I wish everyone health and happiness in this new year. I thought I would show you the little gifts that entered our lives, thanks to the Miramichi SPCA on Christmas Eve. We adopted 2 great looking cats from they're barn buddy program. So our thanks go out to the SPCA manager and also a big thank you to Cara and her husband Matt, who were kind enough to drive down with Blackie and Marbles and to drop them off to us. We are also thankful to hear that Cara has found her dog Jazz after 34 days of being lost. This is a very sad story that has a happy ending and Jazz's story was also in our local newspaper. So I would now like to introduce Marbles and Blackie:

Marbles is about 2years old we think and has been at the SPCA for a year now according to the manager.
He was very shy with us for the first 4 days and kept away from us but since then, he has come out of his shell and is starting to be more affectionate with us.

Now Blackie is 8 years old so I'm told and has been at the SPCA for a few months now. He's been very affectionate since day one and he's also a little bully and likes to have all the attention and doesn't like it when we give it to Marbles at the same time because Blackie walks over and hits Marbles on the head. There's lots of love to go around boys. Marbles and Blackie seem to be settling in well this week and by next week or so we will let them go outside with us but they will mainly stay in the garage to hunt the mice and hang around with us outside. We already have 2 indoor kitties who are way to pampered already since they wouldn't know what to do with a mouse if they saw it. Believe me I know.........cause I saw it.lol.

SOME HANDE MADE XMAS GIFTS

Well I would like to start by saying hello to all of my blogging friends out there. It feels a bit weird to be blogging again since we're having such a hard time with our Satellite internet service, it takes time trying to post things now. I almost forgot how to post a blog and I haven't posted since September I think. If our internet service doesn't frustrate me to much, hopefully I will be posting back regularly now. I thought I would start tonight's posting by showing you some little hand made gifts that I made for Christmas presents this year.

This one I made for my BFF. I primed up a little wooden frame and inserted a punch needle heart that I did on a piece of wool blanket. She said she was going to put it down in her woman cave with all her favorite things.

This is a prim sheep I made from my wool material. He's very primitive with a low back. This was also for BFF.

This next one is for a good friend of mine at work. I primed up a little box and also did a punch needle heart.

This last one was for my boss to put in her office. Its a small heart that I also needle punched and glued it to a small wooden frame that had a hanger on top of it. I was in a heart mood and did a few as you can see.

LI'L WOODEN PRIM SHELF FOR SALE

Hi folks, here is the shelf that I was talking about in yesterdays post. This is a cute little shelf that I undercoated with black paint and top coated with white then scuffed it up to show the black underneath and finished it off with a nice stain to tone down the white and give its Prim look.

There are also 2 brackets in the back all ready to hang in your country home.

PRIM BOX FOR SALE

I just finished this wooden box and a shelf today but I will leave the shelf for tomorow. This great prim box would look great with a hooked mat on the cover or looks great as is. I painted the base color with a chocolate brown and the top coat with a country blue. Primed it up a bit to show the brown underneath and finished it off with a walnut stain to tone down the blue. As you can see I left the original color inside the box since it had a neat checker board insert on the inside cover. This box would be great to hold your craft projects and collectables. There are also little clasps on each side of the cover on the front. It also has 4 little wooden knobs underneath the box.
Mesurements are: 14 1/4" long X 9 1/2" wide X 5 3/4" high from the back and 3 1/4" deep.
