Tags & Types, oh my!

Share Social 2.0 is now live as a major update to our platform for both our iOS app and the web. The short list:
Tags, social types, searching, ordering and an even better mobile experience for our non-iOS users!

Tags / Search: Long requested has been the ability to “tag” content as well as search for it. Done! You can now create tags and manage them so your users can find exactly what they are looking for.

Types: You can now specify what your content is for. Perfect for your insta-story only materials.

Filtering: You can now filter by Tags and Types – and also search in the iOS app!

Dark Mode: Yeah, finally. Support for iOS light and dark appearances.

And more for the web:

We have completely redesigned the content viewing mode of the site to be more inline with the iOS experience. This includes selecting content an then quickly copying captions and downloading. The management of content has also been boosted with these nice little features:

Manual sort ordering, with move-to-top.

Disable item to quickly hide it from the app.

Description is now optional.

Search for items.

Tag items with subjects for easy filtering.

Set and filter by an item’s share mode type.

Welcome to 2021.. we thought it would never come — but, we are here!

Speaking of a long wait, Live Time for macOS 1.17 finally has one of our most requested features…

Preset Editing!!

Yup! You can now edit your Presets in the Presets Module.

CLICK FOR RELEASE NOTES

Preset Editing may seem like a simple thing to implement as a user, but it has required a lot of major reworking to some of Live Time’s nuts and bolts. No need to fear, as those changes I speak of only impact the Presets part of the app right now. One of the features of this is that you can now import and export each part of a Preset. The export is in JSON format, which is what Live Time is moving to for our internal “model” structure. JSON files can even be edited externally and will be important when we launch our API with version 2. Another fun fact is that you are getting a preview of what our new timer inference might look like in version 2.

Timer JSON Model

Other notables.

We have made a small change to how the Count to Time feature works. You used to never have a way to count to a time further that 12 hours away. Now, you can. You just have to use 24h or military time. So, if you want to count to 8pm, you now just put 20 in your timer and then press the Count to Time button.

We also made some bug fixes with Presets restoring when in Simple view and how we cache the preview of each preset. Should be a lot better.

Live Time version 2 is in the works and I’m personally really excited about it! One thing to put out there now is that we will only support macOS 10.15+ and iOS/iPadOS/tvOS 14+ and watchOS 7+ with this major new v2 update. Some good news though: if you have multiple Live Time Servers running at your facility, you will now be able to run several servers on one Mac. This will be one of the new features Removing old OSs from Live Time will allow us to improve the quality of the interfaces and general app experience.

Thanks again for allowing us to serve you all!

How can I make this one step better?

For more than two decades I would see myself repeating a mundane task over and over and would eventually figure out a ways to reduce those tasks to a minimum. It was hobby and passion of mine. Now.. fast forward.

Workflow Tools has kinda been in the works since 2012.. a long time ago, I know. I had created a simple application that helped make file renaming easier. Then we would find ourselves opening Photoshop just to quickly prep images for IMAG screens, so I added an Image Pad over a Blur app. And then again, one year at an event people where people were uploading and transferring huge amounts of images off of their cameras to the web. This brought about an app to max-width and resize the images.

So yeah, over the years I had simplified a bunch of little actions. Not trying to over-complicate them, but keep them simple. Today, we are launching Workflow Tools that takes the best of these little apps into one.. and entirely re-written from Objective-C to Swift

Read more about it here!

As you use the app and find more functions the would be helpful, please let us know. I would love to continue to expand what all Workflow Tools can do to help make things a few clicks easier for you and your teams.

A big thank you..

Thanks to my friends who knew we had this up our sleeves and pushed us to make it a real product. We, and I hope you, are glad we did!

This is huge and brings to fold what we set out to do when we created the Presets addition of Live Time a year ago. Live Time 1.15 for macOS also includes a ton of bug and stability improvements as we ramp up the internal workings for our v2 roadmap.

Let’s walkthrough how it works.

Triggering is part of our “Preset Engine” activated on the Control Panel through a one-time In-App Purchase. You can create Presets for almost all layout states and then restore them on demand. And now, you can restore a Preset via a trigger with two different ways.

Also, with this release, we added a simple duplicate button along with the new UI to create a trigger. When a trigger is Active, a green highlight will show. This way, you can have multiple triggers and safely turn them on or off. Triggers will persist between application launches, but you will need to activate them via the checkbox as needed.

Auto-Restore

When a timer is running, you can make the selected Preset restore. Note: You can only have one Auto-Restore per timer, per time. For instance – you can only have one Auto-Restore where the Main timer hits 0:00. As you will learn below, Auto-Advance will supersede Auto-Restore if they are at the same time.

Auto-Advance

When a Preset is active, designated by the green outline around the Preset, a trigger can be created to automatically advanced to the next Preset. As mentioned above, Auto-Advance precedes Auto-Restore as far as a priority. So now, you could auto-cue your whole service or show!

Other Notes

Now with triggering, you can effectively accomplish so many things with Live Time. Simply create your Preset of what you want Live Time to do or look like, set your timer to restore mode, then create a trigger. So much fun!

We can’t wait to see how the new Preset Triggering helps you all out and hear your feedback. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@livetimeapp.com for any questions or thoughts.

The post Live Time 1.14 Update appeared first on Workflow Network.

Version 1.14 of Live Time macOS builds on top of the last Preset release with some nice features, all mostly requested by YOU! Let’s dive in.

1. Cue buttons in Presets.

Presets can now be operated like a lighting console! We now have a BACK and NEXT button. Yes! After you restore a preset, a green outline will appear so you know where you are. There are even hotkeys for them. SHIFT – LEFT Arrow to go back, SHIFT – RIGHT ARROW to go forward. FYI, Live Time will need to be the active application for this to work. We wouldn’t want these hotkeys to conflict with any other open apps.

2. Preset Hotkeys.

The first nine presets get a direct hotkey. Simply COMMAND – Preset Number, so COMMAND – 1 for your first Preset. These are automatically assigned by the arrangement and order of your presets. And remember, just like the Cue buttons, Live Time will need to be the active application for this to work.

3. Rename a Preset.

You can now click on the title of a Preset to rename it! It’s pretty, cool I guess. This will be helpful with keeping the list organized. Remember you can also export and import your Presets.

4. Elgato Stream Deck Integration

This is our favorite add on for this release, and also one of our top most requested! We now have a plugin for the popular Elgato Stream Deck! Stream Deck is a really simple and cool hardware panel, or iOS app, that attaches to your Mac. We built it as an add on to your local Live Time control panel. So, if you are “in control” of Live Time on your control panel, then this will work similarly. Because of the cueing nature, you will need to have the Presets In-App purchase with the Presets window open to take advantage of this plugin. Available actions for our first iteration are Cue Back Preset, Cue Next Preset, Start/Stop Main Timer, Start/Stop Aux Timer and Show/Hide the Overlay. The Stream Deck plugin is available on the public Stream Deck store for easy installation.

We hope you all enjoy this release. It truly was CREATED FOR YOU! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@livetimeapp.com for any questions or thoughts. Now, on to automatic Preset triggering based on timers !

We love seeing our products being used to help make life a little bit easier. Whether it is for production, organizing sermon content or even help with Social Media, we have created a few tools to hopefully improve your workflows.
Now with nearly 120k followers on Instagram, UPPERROOM was ready to get the word out about their new EP Moments: Design 004.
I have had the privilege to meet up with the team at UPPERROOM a few times and these guys are so authentic and amazing. Jony was even kind enough to drpp this note to us about Share Social:

A few months back, my friends at Fellowship Church were looking to improve the experience of when Pastor Ed Young draws on slides. He just wanted to quickly outline a word and (sometimes) advance the slides. Their workflow at the time involved highly cumbersome Windows software, with a ton of extra UI on screen and no ability to update slides after the message had started. To advance a slide for Ed, the team had to remote in and use the mouse while on screen to click “next”. Fun times! These were just a few of the pain points. Well, we decided to get to work.

What is SlideDraw?

SlideDraw simply lets the presenter draw on top of images and navigate in the easiest way possible. Plain and simple. Done.

We kept our “tentpoles” short and simple for SlideDraw, here is the list:
1. macOS based, the favorite platform of our creative and production friends.
2. Super simple for the presenter to use with no UI clutter.
3. Assist-able from the production team.
4. Production friendly features.

Let’s take look at each of these!

1. macOS. Running on our favorite platform of macOS, SlideDraw is a live presentation image annotation app designed with the touch screen in mind. And get this! With macOS Catalina’s Sidecar feature, an iPad with the Apple Pencil is a perfect pairing! This is a native (Swift 5) app as well.

2. Simple. The user interface for the presenter has been minimized to only give you what you need. Namely, simple color choices, preset stroke sizes, highlight mode and a simple undo function. And for fun, if you want to hide the drawing or navigation controls, you can. It’s perfect for the person who doesn’t want to draw, but just go back and forth.

SlideDraw’s Drawing Interface

3. Assist-able. SlideDraw has a separate window called the Control Panel. We recommend running this on a separate display during a production. The Control Panel lets you load in slides, advance around and even clear the drawings when needed. You can also reorder the slides while the presentation is going on.

The Control Panel in SlideDraw

4. Production Friendly. Serving in production for over twenty years has made me appreciate the little things, so this is easily my favorite tentpole to discuss.

Once, we saw at Fellowship once that the touchscreen TV needed to fade out during a video, so yeah, we added a button to do that on the Control Panel. No more fake black slide.

When you draw on a slide and go forward, and then back, guess what? The drawing on that slide is STILL THERE! And undo-able. Bam.

Images of the drawing (alpha PNG) are saved automatically as you move around in the presentation. Your Social Media curators will have some fun with those.

Clean Output Window, the source you take to your screens or your gigantic LED wall does NOT have the (previously ugly) drawing buttons and user interface on it. I love this.

Bonus Features: On top of that, we disable the system sleep, provide cursor blanking, present in true window full screen modes and more to make your life easier.

Throughout the development process, we invited a few of the fine folk from Fellowship Church to our Dallas office and they were even kind enough to leave a little note:

SlideDraw is exactly what we were looking for! We tried many other touchscreen drawing solutions and they all had major issues for our use. Too cluttered looking on the TV, confusing tools, clunky loading of slides, etc. SlideDraw has solved all of those problems for us – it’s a clean interface that is easy for our Pastor to use while communicating on stage; it has a screen output view that gets rid of all navigation / drawing tools for us to display through our switcher on other screens; it has a control panel that we can manage slides, re-order slides, control slide navigation or just be ready in case our Pastor needs help and no one notices it happening! And it even supports using an iPad / Apple Pencil for drawing – so cool! Not only is the app great, but Workflow Network provides great support as well.
Luke DeMoss – Production @ Fellowship Church

Thanks Luke. So nice of you!

Our friends, Mackenzie and Corbin, prepping the
SlideDraw control panel at Fellowship Church

SlideDraw is new, so we have plans to add little features as time goes on. We can’t wait to hear what you all think! Our main mini site SlideDraw.com has more info and of course, we are here to help.

A little disclaimer:

While we made this app with the touch screen in mind, macOS does not usually work “out of the box” with most touchscreen displays. At Fellowship Church and our other beta sites, 3rd party drivers were needed to make the Mac “see” the mouse / finger touches from the display. This is normal. We designed SlideDraw to utilize the most basic form of mouse movements like up, down, in and out. So, even before you install SlideDraw you can test out your own touch screen display to check if it will respond to touches on the Mac’s Finder. We listed a few that have been tested in our setup guide. That being said, even with all the energy we have put into this, SlideDraw may not be for everyone. So, it is watermarked to test it out before you unlock with an In-App Purchase.

Created for you…

We are beginning to roll out a new phrase “created for you”… and we mean it! All of our products were designed to meet a need and sometimes became a direct answer to a problem. SlideDraw is no different and we are thrilled to share it with you!

Every summer thousands of students, over 16,000 to be more accurate, gather throughout Alabama for the Motion Student Conference. Hosted by Church of the Highlands, Motion curates an environment where thousands of students see their live’s changed for Jesus. With speakers such as Rich Wilkerson Jr. and Pastor Chris Hodges as well as music from the Motion Worship team, this conference is an experience that will impact these students forever.

Workflow Network has the honor to play a small part in the life change at these events by equipping the production team with tools let them focus on what values most. For Motion 19′, Highland’s Video Director Steven Early let us know how helpful ScriptViewer.io was for him:

Having scriptviewer.io pulled up next to me was so a life saver.
If you have not heard of ScriptViewer.io before, then get ready! ScriptViewer is essentially a live-updating custom layout of a plan in Planning Center Services. We work with each church to create what we call “layouts” designed to show specific information for their specific teams.

For Motion and Highlands, the “Video” layout provided automatic green highlighting for anything in the Planning Center plan note category called “Video Notes” as well as a simple line-by-line cue list. ScriptViewer can be customized to show pretty much anything that you have in your Planning Center plan. Even better, if you use Planning Center Live, ScriptViewer will show you where you are and update the displayed times to keep you on track. A perfect companion to Live Time we must say

A special thanks to Church of the Highlands for allowing us to help out and be sure to take a peek more at ScriptViewer.io. We would be happy to build you a demo layout or two to try!
