The Elven Legacy Longbow was inspired by the elves from the J.R.R. Tolkien stories, the Elven Legacy longbow was designed to capture the myth and legend of elven archers.
J.R.R. Tolkien was one of the twentieth century's most prolific letter writers. Over the years he wrote a mass of correspondence - to his publishers, to his family, and to fans of his books - which records the history and composition of his works and his reaction to subsequent events.

By turns thoughtful, impish, scholary, impassioned, playful, vigorous, and gentle, Tolkien poured his heart and mind into a great stream of letters to intimate friends and unknown admires all over the world. From this collection one sees a mind of immense complexity and many layers - artistic, religious, charmingly eccentric sentimental and ultimately brilliant.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://worksofjrrtolkien.blogspot.com/2010/03/events-of-march-6th-and-letters-of-jrr.html' title='Events of March 6th and The Letters of J.R.R. Sir Gawain and the Green knight, Pearl, and Sir Orfeo are masterpieces of a remote and exotic age - the age of chivalry and wizards, knights and holy quests. Yet it is only in the imagination of J.R.R. Tolkien that the language of these stories comes to life for modern readers in these masterful and compelling translations by Tolkien.

My Favorite Things (sung to "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music)

Raindrops in Ent-beards
The first three most well known to us are Gandalf, Sauruman, and Radagast. What about the other two? well the other two were the blue Wizards. The blue Wizards were not created by Toliken until later to fill in the gap, but still even with new information he never actually stated what happened to them.

There are several possibilities. First they could have gone farther into Middle-earth, to places such as Harad, Rhun, and south Gondor. Another possibility is that Sauruman led them to the East and killed them (we all knew it)! They also might have gone back over the sea. Personally I think the first is more likely.

Thank you Captain Kazam for your "question." Anybody is free to email me and don't be shy, you will be answered.

Many Thanks,
Imrathion
"Hobbit freak"

The rods of the five wizards

Greetings peoples of planet Earth! I am Captain Kazam!, and I shall be your new co-host, fantasy freak, and general underling of your friend and dark lord, Hobbit Freak.
To begin my diabolical career on this here blog, I shall compliment young master HF on this extraordinary endeavor, and give it the Kazaclysmic seal of approveal...AFTER he answers this ridiculously insightful question.
...Ahem. So, in the Two Towers (or for theatrical version, Return of the King Extended Edition), Saruman accuses Gandalf of wanting the rods of the five wizards. My question is, does Saruman even have control over these staffs in the books? Saruman is known worldwide by this point as a traitor to the free cause and new associate of the dark lord of Mordor. That said, either he would have had to attack the other wizards and gain their staves, or they would have joined him in order for him to retain his wizardly control. Though only three of the wizards were mentioned in the book (to my knowledge) - Gandalf, Saruman, and Radagast the Brown - are the fates of the other wizards or their staves mentioned at all? Did they choose Gandalf's route of justice and nobility, or did they go dark side and hit it in with the main bad guy? Were there other wizards that were forced to make this decision?

Well, it's magic time. Doubtless master Hobbit Freak will think this a puny question from a puny underling, but hey - can't fault a guy for trying.
So...yeah. I shall post interesting news along with Master Hobbit in future, so I look forward to getting to know all you loyal, quirky subscribers and all that. Until next time fellow Hobbit-loving faloonzies!
That is all.

Tell your friends!

Tell your friend about us!

Does the Lord of the Rings contain Witchcraft?

Does the Lord of the Rings contain Witchcraft? Well it all depends on what you call witchcraft. Most people today define witchcraft mystical power like something from Harry Potter. The definition of Witchcraft in the New World Dictionary is "The power or practices of witches; sorcery. Most people would just stop there and say "yes there is sorcery in it, Gandalf uses it. In reality it is however not sorcery. The definition of sorcery is "The forced control of evil super natural power". But is the power that Gandalf uses Evil?

As many know the world of Middle-Earth has its own history, it also has its own Creator such as our own world. This Creator is called Eru, The One, who in Arda is called Iluvatar. This Creator had followers called Ainur. Now there are two types of Ainur, the Valar (greater Ainur) and the Istari (lesser Ainur). These two types of Ainur are the direct representatives of Iluvatar. Enough of that now back to Gandalf. What is he?

Letter 156 from J.R.R. Tolkien to Robert Murray, states "But Gandalf is not, of course, a human being (Man or Hobbit). There are no precise modern terms to say what he was. I would venture to say that he was an incarnate "angel" that is an Istari "wizard", as an emissary to the lords of the west, sent to Middle-Earth as the great crisis of Sauron loomed on the horizon.By incarnate I mean to take on a physical body capable of pain, and weariness, and of afflicting the spirit with physical fear, and of being "killed",though supported by the angelic spirit they might endure long, and only show slowly the wearing of care and labor."

So now we have our answer. The power that Gandalf uses is (in Middle-Earth because the Istari are fantasy) not sorcery it is the angelic power endowed in him.
