April 8th was my Husband’s birthdasy and since I had to work that day we decided to go out on a date night last night and we got my parents to baby sit the kids so we could finally get to spend time alone since it’s rare we get to do that. We drove to Anaheim to eat some Sonic’s and sat in the car to eat our food and went to best buy for some electronic accessories. We also drove around for awhile just to take in the new scenery because its fun to explore surrounding cities.

Hubby’s order details: Chicken tender meal with a strawberry real fruit slushy

It was our first time eating there and we definitely will be going back there again. I really ejoyed the milk shake it was like putting a cup full of cheesecake into ice cream and even had the crust crumbs on top of the whipped cream. It was crowded, but we got served within a decent amount of time and when waiting for our ordeer that was also a decent waiting time.

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged, but as always I'm happy to be back and within the next few days I will be sharing more details on what I've been up to and why I've been so absent blogging. I don't like that work got in my way of me finishing my daily black history month spotlight series posts so I have extended it until March 5th to give me time to catch up with everything that I had planned out. As I was researching black owned businesses in my area I came up with yet another idea to highlight some black owned brands by women I've had the pleasure of meeting some in person and others virtually, but they are equally as impactful and empowering. So with that said, let's get into today's empowering black owned business owners who I believe deserve to be spotlighted and I was given the opportunity to ask them their insight on being an entrepreneur and business woman.

Founded by Leslie Henry this is a luxurious lip cosmetic line and in my interview with her I got to know more about her and her business. I like that although she has a cosmetic business that she can still look like a model while doing it LOL, as seen in the photo above she can model her ass off and to me a successful woman is multifaceted.

Me: I'm sure everyday is different, but is there one thing you do that helps you maintain a routine?

Leslie: Writing down a to-do list. Writing a list helps me stay on task and motivated to be honest. If I do not write out what I need to do; I will be all over the place.

Me: What one major thing about your brand makes you the most proud to be the owner?

Leslie: Seeing the customers reviews about how they love the products but mainly them telling me how I made them feel with the personalized notes that they receive with their package. Knowing that I made them feel special and gave them an experience is important.

Me: Is there anything you would like to share that you believe people need to know about you and your business?

Leslie: . A few years after graduating from Jackson State University, I packed my car and drove to Los Angeles. To be honest, I had no idea how I would succeed, but I had confidence in myself that something great would come from this decision. I began working with a very prestigious modeling company in downtown Los Angeles. While receiving so much inspiration from my peers, I decided to start my own business, Within this past year, I launched LeslieMoniq, which is a luxurious lip cosmetic line designed specifically to promote self-love and a positive self-image to many women around the world.

I'm definitely going to buy some items. I had the pleasure of getting to ask her some questions and was happy to see how excited she was to be able to share her thoughts about being a boss of her dreams and business.

Me: When did you first know you wanted to be an entrepreneur and what was the point that really made you for it?

Kersti: I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur about a year or two after starting my YouTube channel. On my channel I inform and inspire others to braid their own hair. I had already known from the moment I had my first job at 17 that I wanted to be the boss of something. Didn't know if it was going to be my own business or someone else's but I knew I wanted to be the boss lol.

Me: Who has been your greatest inspiration? And why?

Kersti: I honestly have so many inspirational people in my life it's hard to just pick one. There are attributes to business women and men I follow on IG that inspire me, there are attributes in the brothers and sisters at my church that inspire me as well. I feel that the way I grew up is what has inspired me the most to go for my dreams. The desire for my child to have a better life than I did outweighs any excuse I can give as to why I wont chase my goals.

Me: How is running a successful business different then what you thought it would be?

Princess: You will need to have a lot of patience. Also when family and friends don't support your business you can't let that get in your way and you have to keep pushing.

Something that's inspirational and relatable about all of these inspirational women is that they are all Mother's and not only that these ladies are thriving in their business to provide a better life for their families which just happens to be one of my core beliefs. VALENTINES DAY OOTD

Hello Fashion dolls,

I'm not really a huge fan of Valentine's day as a "Holiday" it could be because before I reunited with my Husband the guys I dated before him didn't buy me gifts or flowers and rarely even spent the day with me. It's so cliché to only dedicate one day to spreading love to your loved ones and friends, because we should be expressing our love routinely. My Husband and I don't usually give gifts for Valentine's day so this year we decided to just have a small family BBQ, drink and watch movies with out family all day long.

I bought this outfit for my Valentine's date last year with my Husband and then Covid-19 ruined that date night and I never got to wear it, so I waited to pull it out when ever the pandemic ended. Although things haven't necessarily gone back to normal in the world yet, but I was excited to get the chance to put it on when Hubby decided to have a BBQ with our Parents all in one house for once.

It was interesting to see how dressed up my Mom got, because usually even if she's coming over to our house she dresses casually but we happened to be matching yesterday LOL. Mom isn't a huge fan of taking photos which I've shared with you guys before so any time she asks me to take one with her I definitely don't pass up that opportunity.

We had so much food and drink, but there was only 9 people to feed LOL. It definitely turned out to be a lot better then I thought it would, because at first only In Laws were suppose to come over but last minute I decided to go pick up my Parents as well. I've got to admit it was a great idea!.

Today I wanted to do something different and give the spotlight to black owned businesses that I believe you should try out and keep a eye out for, because these CEO's are on the rise and need our support. Balancing life and work has turned out to be very challenging lately and has put me behind on posting once again, but I will continue to do my best not to miss another day of this Black History Month series.

I'm doing research on local black owned businesses and will do more posts like this to shed more light on those who are more then worthy of spreading the word about. It's important to me to support those who look like me and teach my kids to never forget to support those who represent what your culture is.

BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES IN THE SPOTLIGHT

CROWN & HOPS BREWERY

Founded by Teo Hunter and his wife Beny Ashburn their beer company is in Inglewood CA and it is taking the brewing industry by storm, because they have began a movement along with having their brewery that can create equality in the beer brewing industry. Their Inglewood location is remarkable, because it has so much wide open social spaces that can hold events and I love the vibes that the environment embodies, because to me it promotes a family setting where you can drink beer and enjoy yourself with like minded and chill people. I promised my husband that we would go get him some of their beer, but I don't drink beer so I won't be trying that LOL but I still will do a post about his review.

Tribe beauty box

Founded by CEO Bili Balogun this is a beauty subscription box company that not only is run by black women but the items that are given are curated from women owned beauty brands. Bili's vision for her brand was to help their customers find "the next best thing" (which I quote from the FAQs and policies) from other female owned businesses. I love everything about this brand not just the service that it provides but also the movement and message that the brand owner advocates for, because it's important to bring awareness to those who are doing amazing things whether that be in your own endeavors or someone you come across on Instagram peer support goes a long way. I definitely will be ordering my first box soon and will be sure to share that experience with all of you ladies so keep an eye out for that as well.

Effie's paper

Founded by Kayln Johnson, her website is welcoming and gets right to business LOL as you see from the above photo its the first thing you see when you enter the website and I love it!. Something that I really do enjoy as well is that the brand has so much variety to choose from, the following are a few of the different categories of products offered: Desk accessories, coffee cups and apparel. I've already decided what I want to buy and of course I will share that with you as well LOL it's going to be challenging deciding what to buy first and how many items to get all at once.

Pardo Naturals

Founded by CEO Rita Rodgers-Pardo and this brand is AMAZING all the products are exactly what I've been looking for and will definitely be sure to order everything I need in a bulk order because it's essential to my health and wellness goals I want for myself and my family.

I love that everything is made from all natural ingredients and one thing that stood out the most to me was the eco home and cleaning/ pet friendly products because we have a dog and the kids are always running around with him in the house so those would help me keep things safe and clean for them.

Also there is an service that the brand provides that is classes to teach you how to make natural products and I think that's amazing because helping others do anything is fulfilling.

Delali Robinson cosmetics

Founded by Adodo Delali-Robinson. This is a brand that openly celebrates women of color and promotes enhancing your natural beauty with their products and showing off your new found confidence. I really like the color schemes with the eyeshadow palettes and lip glosses, nude has always been a shade that I've wanted to try and I think this may be the time I actually buy a lip gloss and try it out, because normally I don't wear colored lip gloss it's just not my thing.

What I love is that it's vegan friendly, paraben free, gluten free and cruelty free products and of course the message/movement they are advocating for also inspires me as well and I can hardly wait to make my first order.

It was fun getting to see these black owned businesses websites and getting to know more about their brands. I truly hope that you go support these businesses whether that be online or in their store fronts lets make it a habit/routine to buy from black owned businesses and not only during black history month but year round!. EMPOWERMENT SPOTLIGHT

Serena Williams

As an African American athlete in tennis she has faced racial and gender barriers throughout her career, but she didn't let that out shine her athletic abilities or crush her spirits of being the best in women's tennis. She also has faced criticism for her body image and has embraced who she is unbothered by what anybody has to say about her or the way she looks. Her career speaks for itself.

Despite the odds against her Serena has become an advocate for gender pay gaps and racial equality. Something that's inspiring about her is her level of humbleness, she hasn't forgotten where she came from because she came from struggle and gave back to her community in the city of Compton CA.

Serena launched her clothing line March 2018 after she won her grand slam title and it was a sexy yet conservative styles and looks, but they make a statement. I looked through the website and let me tell you ladies these outfits are AMAZING, you definitely should check them out and purchase something.

My personal inspirational story about Serena Williams

I started playing sports at a young age, but before I became an athlete my Parent's were also active athletes themselves. My Mom was an amazing tennis player, it was an honor to watch her glide across the tennis court like she had roller skates on and it was what fueled my desire to be a great athlete.

I grew up watching Serena playing tennis with my Mom, she always had the matches playing when she was home to watch them. I was a witness to the racial microaggressions she had to face in order for her to have a successful tennis career and it definitely wasn't fair that she had to deal with being racial attacked for her greatness.

Watching her career unfold inspired me to never give up in sports and to push on when my opponents presented me with a challenge. When I first started playing basketball the team was unisex so the girls were always compared to the boys on the team, which was what made me and my fellow girl team mates push even harder, we to had to break gender barriers and we did an amazing job proving that we could stay ten steps ahead of the boys on the court.

LOUIS V DRIP PART 2

Hello Fashionistas,

I haven't posted an OOTD in awhile and finally got the chance to take photos of the outfit I was suppose to wear for my birthday last month. I love playing with colors and prints in a way that's not overwhelming the entire outfit, not that there's anything wrong with that if that's your thing but it doesn't work for my style.

MY OOTD

I'm not sure what was going on with my facial expressions during this shoot, but I felt good in front of the camera it's just at time's I have a challenging time control my face when taking photos. It's definitely a work in progress.

This was so comfy and I'm wearing a size large and it still fit so good on me, that jean jacket wasn't bought with the Louis V suit I've had it for three years now. I couldn't find a white t shirt to buy with the suit so I just threw on this teal one, because it looked cute to me and I'm glad that I did.

I love pastel tones and mixing colors that actually match each other. The Nike Air Max I'm wearing is so comfy at first I wasn't sure about them due to the air bubble cushions at the bottom LOL but girl let me tell you ! GET YOU SOME OF THESE your feet will thank you for them 💯

Hello Fashionista,

Today I want to talk about someone else who inspired me to be fearless and stand up for what I believe in. When your a kid your parent's always tell you "You can be anything you want in life" and for some that may be instant truth, but there are kids that believe they wont become who they dream about when they grow up. But there are inspirational people out there that make their dreams come true despite the odds and are role models for the weary hearted dreamers who just need a little inspiration to get them to start.

EMPOWERMENT SPOTLIGHT

Michelle Obama

Our former first lady was one of the most inspirational to ever grace the White House and she was a true fashion icon, and supported American designers. Obama running for the presidential election in 2008 was historical because we finally had our very first African American president.

As, first lady, Michelle served as a role model for women and worked as an advocate for poverty awareness, educations, nutrition, physical activity and healthy eating. Mrs. Obama has also graced the cover of a lot of top magazines, and even interviewed Amanda Gorman for TIME magazine.

What was the most inspirational about Michelle was that she didn't just sit around the white house and let her Husband tackle all the big issues alone, she took a leap of faith by joining in on the causes that she related to the most. I love that she was so down to earth, fun and open minded, she really made being the first lady look like it was one of the most enjoyable job in the world. It was also I relief to finally have African Americans representing our culture in the most powerful position in politics and was like a dream come true, because so many said that it was impossible for Obama to win due to his ethnicity that became center of may smear campaigns created by his republican opponents against him.

She wrote books, but this one was my favorite and I've read some of it from a friends book, but this is definitely the next book that I'm going to purchase for my collection. I'm eager to dig deeper into this book and find out more about Michelle and the way she thinks, because she's so intelligent and has positive views on many important topics.

These are my favorite magazine covers of Michelle and her style in these photos are freaking amazing.

She's loves being active and keeping herself in shape. Dancing was just one of her many hidden talents that she was comfortable showing the world regardless of being our first lady. I remember her favorite song was a Little John song called turn down for what and she did a little video to it LOL she is truly remarkable.

Again my daughters have an amazingly inspirational woman to look up to in the world and I will be sure to teach my 6 year old Daughter who she was and all her amazing accomplishments both as our first lady and while she was just Michelle from Philly.

Mr. and Mrs. Obama also attended Joe Biden's inauguration Jan 20, 2021 and of course she served us with the fashion. I love the color choice and the belt the most, omg I expected nothing less from her and she still looks amazing. Michelle also campaigned for the Biden campaign during the 2020 election and I wasn't shocked at all that she would stand up and speak out, because she was familiar with his work and all of his views in politics.

Hello Fashionistas,

I'm happy to have been sharing my thoughts and personal stories about all of the empowering people, and it really got me thinking about the way I've impacted those I've met in my own life. So I'm going to come up with a short blog series that is dedicated to testimonials from those I've impacted in some sort of way. I intend to leave a lasting impact on the world by empowering people to overcome obstacles that are meant to break you down, show them that your capable and will prove them wrong.

EMPOWERING SPOTLIGHT

Kamala Harris

Although she was criticized for her previous decisions she made as state attorney general, some of her work against police brutality and the anti-truancy policy she was responsible for defending or opposing. She has spent her whole career in politics and it didn't shock me to much when she decided to run for President in the 2020 election, because she was willing and able to get the job done.

She made history becoming the first Female, African and Asian American to become Vice President and I was so happy to be able to see a Black Woman in such a high position of authority where many would think twice about it happening simply because she was African American.

My Daughter and Step Daughter have someone they could look up to and know that if they want to run for president some day that it's not a hopeless dream or out of their reach, because Kamala made it a possibility for little black girls worldwide.

She is impactful to me, because when I was growing up I was always stereotyped. looked at as good but not good enough and was always picked on by other mean kids at school. I never had anyone to look up to the way my Daughter can with Kamala and other African American Women trailblazers making History in their own right.

Kamala thank you for never giving up and always doing what your heart desired, because if you didn't little black girls would have to dream about being president in silence instead. Thank you for allowing my Daughter and step Daughter to see someone who looks like them representing this country and also for standing up for what's right without ceasing because you know its the right way to get U.S residents the best results possible.

I've never wanted to become President or VP, but Kamala has inspired me more to push for my dream and to keep my head forward on that exact goal no matter what my odds are. This couldn't have come a better time with all the cuts and fails the Black community has been given these past few years and having someone in our corner is beyond important to the entire world not just Black people.

Knowing the facts and history about my culture has always been important to me, but for whatever reason growing up my Mom didn't teach me much about African culture simply because she was never taught. On the other hand, my kids will be knowledgeable about African culture and some of the history behind what drives us to be the best in everything.

It's important to love who you are and in order for that seed to be planted you have to know what makes you who you are and that begins with your cultural history. Because it's important to be entuned with it that if they ever miss out on opportunities or are faced with microaggressions they will understand and know how to handle that particular situation.

This short film was very direct and to the point, I loved it! It also reminded me of my own deep love of basketball. I was a big Kobe fan and because of him I never gave up, I pushed even harder and wanted to become the female version of him. He was always the best player on the court to me and his presence demanded every bodies respect, even that of those players who claiming they don't "like" Kobe respected him. There is no way anybody could say they don't like him, because he was one of the most respectful people to ever grace the Laker court, holding strong to his core values: faith and knowledge.

My favorite sport is basketball, my connection to the court was something I couldn't describe but the feeling of adrenaline rushing through me that made me fall in love with the game. Being apart of something meaningful and knowing that I can do amazing things with a basketball in my hands.

KOBE'S RETIREMENT LIFE

Founded the Mamba Sports Foundation in 2018 to help support under-served communities and athletes, have the opportunity to play sports. His 13 year old daughter Gianna played on a girl's team that he was head couch for and it was no surprise that she took after her Dad, she was aggressive and sassy on the court.

REMEMBERING KOBE AND GIANNA

January 26,2020 was the day the world stood still, Kobe and Gianna were in a tragic plane crash. It didn't feel like reality to me when I first heard about what happened to them and still to this day it feels the same way. During the entire funeral service held at the Staples Center I was crying, like millions of others I have been impacted by his basketball career and his level of knowledge that doesn't fall short of empowering and uplifting.

Vanessa, my heart goes out to you but girl I'm also proud of the level of strength and determination you have to live a life that Kobe would be proud of you for having. His spirit is within you, I'm extremely sorry for your loss and I pray that you continue to be that beckon of strength your family needs.

I'm beyond excited to be talking Black History Month this year, there has been so much going on that it's time to get back to the root of what's truly important in culture. It's empowering to see and have seen this Black empowering individuals have done to pave the way to greatness for the African American community. The 22 year old youth poet took the world by storm during Joe Biden's Inauguration 1/20/2021 and her poem was no short of empowering, eye opening and powerful to hear. I really enjoyed her poem she wrote and will be sharing my favorite parts of that very poem here in quotes and share my opinion.

It's clear why President Biden chose Amanda as his inaugural poet, because she shares some of the same core beliefs. For example, unity, healing, grief and hope. Additionally, Gorman's work is focused on the following topics: oppression, feminism, race, marginalization and African Diaspora.

Of course I had to look up what African Diaspora was and meant, so this is what I found

African Diaspora is the voluntary and involuntary movement of Africans and their descendants to various parts of the world during the modern and pre-modern periods.

I have a daughter who now has another African American Woman to look up to, and that's so exciting for me because I didn't have that growing up and to be able to see that happening for her is such an Mom adrenaline rush.

This poem also reminds us that although we go through trying times, there is always room to grow and to not give up. Gorman has graced the cover of TIME magazine and was interviewed by first lady Michelle Obama, which I love so much!!!!!!!!!!!! that excited me so much, can you tell? LOL.

It's been so cold lately and I've been looking for some new Winter gear, so that's what I want to share with you all today. I've found myself wanting more body suits in my wardrobe and in my opinion it's a style staple item 💯 so I will be doing another post all about bodysuits and jumpsuits for Winter.

DRESSING FOR WINTER

I've got a casual and dressy style, because sometimes I just get in the mood to dress up. One of my favorite prints is leopard as you can see from my styling above. I just realized that I forgot to add an jacket for the gray outfit LOL it's ok because it's still a great outfit without it, but again I was putting the look together late at night after work so that could be how I forgot LOL my plate is overflowing with things to do. I've always been a shoe freak and lately although I've been more of a saver then a spender when it comes to the things I want, but I must admit that I've been itching to buy a new pair of trendy sneakers.

I definitely want to get dressed up and wear heels whenever it's truly safe for everyone to be around other people again, where will I be going in those heels you ask? Shit it doesn't matter as long as I look cute doing it LOL I will just be happy to have time out among my community, because walking down my block and waving/saying hi to my neighbors is truly the highlight of my day.

I've been wanting to start doing yoga at home for years and last year I finally bought my mat and resistance bands, but this was all new to me so I found some good warm up workouts to do with my bands before doing some actual yoga stuff. This lasted about three days until I up it away just to be unused, but today I made the decision to get back to it because honestly I need to take better care of my body and get myself in shape. Today is dedicated to health and wellness, so I want to share the benefits of doing yoga routinely and this is partially the reason I need to develop my health and wellness routine with my vegan diet.

WHAT I WEAR WHEN I DO YOGA

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DOING YOGA?

Just 15 minutes a day can alter your brain chemistry and boost your mood

1. Improve flexibility and mobility

The beauty of yoga is that it can be practiced at all levels of ability and a few minutes daily practicing the following poses will soon have you really feel a difference in your flexibility whether you your pretty bendy already or not

*The warrior *Downward dog

2. Build strength

Daily practice will help stretch and tone your body muscles

3. Correct posture

Making you walk taller and sit up straighter

4. Better all around fitness

Yoga combines aspects of cardio, functional and strength training all in one

5. Weight loss

A daily practice will fuel the metabolic system and will help burn fat, leading to weight loss. Also can help restore the hormonal balance in your body, which can normalize your body weight

6. Cultivate self awareness

Routine yoga practices also strengthens the overall mind, body, connection and helps you deal more effectively with stress. By lowering the levels of cortisol which is the hormone being released when your feeling stressed.

7. Increase your energy

Yoga with it's unique synergy of body and breath work, is perfect when your reserves are running low. Will awaken the main energy centers called chakras.

Some great poses for this are the tree and cobra poses.

8. Reduce stress

Even a short daily practice should be made up of three elements

3. Meditation

Studies show that those who use all three elements are able to better lower their heart rate variability

A recent study has shown that regular practicing results in higher serotonin which is the happy hormone

13. Become more mindful

When doing yoga, you will shift your awareness to the sensations, thoughts and emotions that accompany a given pose. That awareness will bring the mind back to the present moment, which is the main aim of mindfulness.

14. Improve concentration

Poses and meditation require you to concentrate on your breathing. This process calms the mind and makes you more mentally relaxed , so your able to recollect and retain more information.

15. Think clearer

Improved cognitive function happens when we are able to clear and refresh our minds. Yoga also reduces physical tension that your muscles may be straining from.

16. Live longer

All the benefits of yoga may add valuable years to your life. Yoga reduces the risk of heart disease and reduces the pace of breathing which has been directly linked to a longer life span.

Today I didn't do any poses, I just did some warm ups from YouTube and a few exercises with the resistance bands. I have put together my health and wellness plan that I intend to start tomorrow and buy some of my vegan food so that I can share all of this with you ladies and keep an eye out for that. STAYING INSPIRED IS A LIFESTYLE

It's not always easy to stay motivated or consistent with creating content when pre-planned ideas still go unshared, but today I want to share with you the things that have helped me continue to stay on track with creating content that will not only inspire me to continue, but also inspire anyone who happens to read it. Although, I myself have been caught in what I call the delay zone where I just can't seem to shake that feeling of thinking "Ok today I've got this checklist to tackle" But still my idea stayed put away for another day.

THINGS I DO TO GET INSPIRED TO CREATE

I like to turn on music and vibe out while I get work done on my blog. Here is some of the music that I listen to while I get stuff done, because it gets me pumped and creativity starts flowing through me.

I also do a little dancing while I'm creating my ideas into content, today while I was writing this post when I tell you it was a whole vibe girl it was a mini dance party in my seat. But it definitely helped me get into the flow of what I was trying to develop here today, because I needed to get hype to tackle my checklist.

I've been a blogger for awhile and there has been times from the start up until now that I've thought about giving up and deleting my entire blog. Now, why would I want to do such a thing? At some point when my work seems to go "unnoticed" or "looked over" it would take a tole on my feelings because I know that I can create amazing content and what am I really accomplishing by continuing to create my content. It was becoming annoying to doubt my own worth so I decided to do something about it and not only stop, but to manifest a new mindset. When I finally was able to set aside feeling a way about my creative process lacking, regardless of where that lack was I'm aware that I can unleash even more amazing things. Never let anyone or anything stop you from doing making your dreams come true, believing and investing in yourself in one of the best things you can do.

Finally I was able to find a platform where I can create stylish looks from different categories of clothing, shoes and accessories. So I've styled a few looks for a few of my family members and I really enjoy helping people put together fashionable outfits for any event or night out. I've given what to wear tips on outfits and will make sure to bring that series back, because now I need to bring that back so that I can show you another one of my many talents.

Although I don't work in an office setting right now, this is definitely something I picture myself wearing to a business meeting or even a day at the office. The mix and match color trend, in my opinion is something that should be worn year round because you can pair nearly any color together and make it look good and stylish even if your not one to keep up with the hottest fashion trends.

HOW TO STYLE A DRESSY JUMPSUIT WITH MIX & MATCH COLORS

1. Keep accessories minimal

2. Wear a neutral color

3. Can't go wrong with pearls

4. Big holographic shades

5. Always carry a cute purse

This look isn't just for a business woman who's going to meetings, but can also be worn to grab lunch with family or even for a girl's night out with your bestfriends. I lo.ve everything about this whole look and definitely will keep an eye out for these items or any like them, because it's such a cute and stylish outfit that this needs to be in my closet.

When wearing this for a girls night out, adding more jewelry or a nice hat can give your outfit a modern look and feel to it. Don't ever be scared to take risks with fashion, play around with the mixed colors, how much jewelry your going to wear and worry less about sticking to office traditional "wear only" colors.

MY DAY IN PHOTOS: 33RD BIRTHDAY EDITION

Hello Fashion dolls,

This year I had to work on my birthday which to most people sounds like a drag, but for me I was happy to be because me and my co-worker friends were all pitching in to celebrate with a social distanced lunch break birthday party. I work with a very hard working and down to earth group of people and I'm blessed to have met them, especially those whom I've formed true personal connections with. I also went to have dinner at my parent's house and to keep them safe we all wore masks since we were visitors to their home. Mom made her famous meatloaf with collard greens, corn bread and mashed potatoes which is one of my favorite dinner's that she makes for our family since I was a kid.

One of my co-worker friends got me the mango margarita shown in the photo above and today I finally drank it on the rocks LOL because it was my day off so I felt like day drinking by myself.

I'm not sure how I ended up with two birthday cakes, but it was amazing to see how many of my co-workers actually cared enough to celebrate with me and make it a special day for me.

EDGE NATURALE: PART #2 HUBBY'S HAIRLINE GROWTH

I have been using this follicle enhancer before and it worked on me, so this time I decide to use it for helping my husband grow his hairline back. Hello Fashionista,

I'm so happy to be back sharing here with all of you, work has been insane but I had to return to what I love which is blogging. Since Covid-19 struck worldwide everyone has been stuck at home with so many companies having to close down due to the unsafe spread of the virus. Which also meant that professional sports would also have to close down their gameday facilities, but now that there have been guidelines and rules put into place by the CDC and the government officials sports slowly began to make a come back. Professional athletes were caught off guard when they found out they had to play each game without real fans being in the stadium to cheer or boo them along on gamedays, but I love that stadiums have made cardboard cut outs of the fans who bought tickets to games before the virus ruined everything worldwide.

I'm so happy to announce that football is finally here and I need to go back to sharing all my gameday OOTD posts and score with injury reports. This season is going to be different, because although I will be able to catch the games I wont be watching them at home with my Husband I will be there live at SOFI Stadium working while watching the Rams or Chargers play on game days. I will still put together my OOTD's to share with you guys but have to come up with a plan on how I will get these photos taken the week of the game to post.

Been taking a well needed break because I’ve been busy working and had to balance that with everything else we had going on, but I’m happy to be back blogging and sharing what I love here with all of you.Today I will be sharing a new start up brand that I know you will all love, this start up just recently launched their new swim suit collection and I really love everything about these swim suits and can’t wait to see what other swim suit designs they come up with. I had a chance to meet with the owner/CEO and I will be sharing my interview with her as well in this post.

The swim suit line is called the poolside collection with cute unique designs and eye catching colors. I rarely swim so I don’t really buy bathing suits, but once I saw the swim suits from this collection I do want one and will start swimming just to have a reason to be wearing it. The first thing that stands put me when I see these swim suits is the bright colors, lastly the mix matching of neon's really gives the collection an wow factor and will definitely stand out during any pool party. I had a chance to sit down to talk with her about her brand and the vision she has for it's longevity. Tayllor is the owner/CEO of the brand, she is a young and talented entrepreneur who is very dedicated to her brand and the message it is presenting to potential customers. Our interview lasted for a short but informative amount of time as she had things she had to handle to prepare for the then upcoming launches and I was happy to be meeting with her and discussing fashion, goals and self-employment.

What inspired you to start our own business?

I started my first business when I was in elementary school as a part of an assignment, selling school supplies. When I look back on it that was the moment I discovered my love for being my own boss.

Where did you get your inspiration for the designs of your swim suits?

My inspiration for the pool side collection was honestly quarentine. Now I know that sounds crazy but quarentine has had us trapped inside for months with the only thing to do being to sit "pool side" so with this collection I wanted to use bright colos to brighten up everyone's summer

What advice would you give someone who wants to start their own business?

Just do it! (yes like Nike). You wont know if your business will succeed or fail until you try, but also be patient with yourself everything will fall in place

Tell me something you've learned during your journey to launching your brand?

The biggest thing I've learned is, patience and allowing the brand to form itself. There is no rush, move at your own pace and take the time to make your brand exactly how you want it. When it's ready you'll know

EDGE NATURALE: DOES IT REALLY GROW YOUR EDGES?

Hello Fashionistas,

Long time no post, but with COVID-19 starting it messed up everything I had planed to share with you ladies, but today I am back and ready to review an awesome product I have been using for both myself and my daughter’s to grow our edges or baby hairs. There are so many brands with hair growth products out there its hard to know if any of them work and if it does how long it takes for it to actually start working.

EDGE NATURALE: MY HONEST REVIEW

I love this product ! My daughters edges grew weird and I’ve been looking for something that could help grow them out so she would be able to lay her edges down like majority of women and little girls worldwide. This does really work on growing your edges and even along the middle of your scalp where you part your hair to make two pig tails. I haven’t ever learned to lay my edges down the way I see all over Instagram but now I feel more confident to watch tutorials so finally I can LOL with the help the follicle enhancer product.

WHAT I LIKE THE MOST

1. Of course that it grows your edges, but also that it’s made from natural products, it’s cruelty free and USA made. I’ve been sort of picky about the type of products I use in my daughter’s hair and I’ve been aiming to hair products that use Argan oil and avacado oil to name a few.

2. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t take a lot of product to put on for it to grow and the growth time varies but I used the follicle enhancer on the same day for all three of us and I noticed results the first week of use.

REMEMBER THE STARS BOOK REVIEW

Hello fashionistas,

Long time no post, I have been dealing with remote schooling with my Kindergartener although school was officially over June 5th LOL, keeping in contact from a distance with my Parents, in laws and my oldest Son Drayton who's in Arizona. This whole pandemic has thrown me off my blogging schedule, but I'm happy to be back today to share a really good book with you ladies today that I believe that your going to enjoy just like I did. I enjoy doing these blog book tours with Paige Boggs, who always shows me so much love and support, it means so much to me that she values my opinion enough to continue to invite me back again Thank you Paige for always inviting me to review and read these amazing books on tour.

MY REVIEW: REMEMBER THE STARS BY MARISA AND CARRAINE OLDHAM

I really enjoyed reading this book, because it shed light on a unexpectedly scary time in that Jewish people went through during the Holocaust and Estherly's story was one of fear, confusion and attempting to navigate through love during such a trying time. I really got stuck to the book when Ferrin found the diaries and got motivated/inspired to explore where Estherly's stories could take her in her own life and to find her true love. It's amazing that Ferrin wanted to know what really happened to the woman who wrote the diaries entries without knowing if she would really find out the truth about what happened to Estherly or not, but she was willing to find out.

What Estherly and her friend Mae went through was both scary and confusing for a kid to go through when there is little to no explanation from parents about what's happening in their communities and why there are so many changes. In similar ways, what we are facing during this pandemic is sort of like certain parts from the book, for example, the curfew that was enforced by Mayors and Governor's worldwide and having the Army National Guard help with swarming protester clogging the streets.

I truly enjoyed this book a lot and will definitely be sharing it with my friends and family, because there is a love story in the book that anyone who has ever secretly been in love or secretly had feelings for someone but were to nervous to express how they felt. I definitely will be adding this to my book collection, I don't have enough books at home nowadays so this will be a lovely addition to add into my book shelf and I already added it my Amazon cart for my next payday.

I have to be honest that I hadn't ever read any book written by Marisa and Carraine Oldham before and I am looking up more of their books right after I publish this post. I look forward to participating in the next book tour as usual, because I enjoy reading new books that keep me talking about them for weeks to come with my family and friends. Also I do need more actual books with my book shelf so empty lately, I lost majority of my book collection when I had to store a lot of my stuff at a friend of the family house and my Mom found out that they sold a lot of our belongings in a yard sale and unfortunately my books were some of them.

EASTER IDEAS: FOOD DECOR FASHION

With cities being on lockdown and social distancing worldwide these days makes having a regular Easter gathering more of a challenge since it was requested by health officials not to invite anyone who doesn't live in your household regularly over for dinner. A lot has changed in two months during this pandemic, so I have come up with some creative ways to keep us all in the mood to continue to celebrate regardless of all the social distancing/lockdown guidelines that still keep you and those we love safe/healthy, because this virus is spreading at a tremendous rate with deaths rising daily.

So let's get into planning for a untraditional Easter that will be the highlight of enduring what has broughten the world to a complete standstill. If you have been a fashion doll for awhile you know how much I enjoy planning parties and all the decor, this will have a social distancing twist but like my previous planning content this won't disappoint.

The recipes are what I have tried before and my family really loves these dishes, so I know that yours will as well. Although this will be the first Holiday celebrated since the corona virus pandemic has began, we can still enjoy a dinner with those we love and I have a few ideas on how to share with guests who couldn't make it due to the stay at home orders. Prepare those guests a plate as if they were going to attend your dinner just pack it in a to go container and drive to their home to drop off their food and deserts, although we havw to celebrate apart doesn't mean we can't still include them.

Roasted chicken

Ready in: 1 hour 30 mins

Serves: 6 people

Ingredients

1 (3 1/2-lb.) chicken, whole
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 yellow onion, cut into large pieces
3 medium carrots, peeled and cut into large pieces
1/2 lb. baby potatoes, quartered
1 head garlic, halved
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
3 tbsp. melted butter
1 lemon
1 bunch cilantro or thyme

Garlic Parmesan Tilapia

Ready in: 30 mins

Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

1/4 c. extra-virgin olive oil
4 fillets flounder
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
1/4 cup bread crumbs
4 cloves garlic, minced
Juice and zest of 1 lemon

Honey glazed carrots

Ready in: 45 mins

Serves: 6 people

Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
2 tbsp. honey
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Kosher salt
Black pepper
15 carrots (2 lbs.), peeled and halved lengthwise
Fresh thyme or cilantro, for garnish

Ham glaze

Ingredients

1 (10-lb.) fully cooked whole ham (boneless or bone-in)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 cup apple cider

Lemony asparagus pasta

Ready in: 40 mins

Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

1 lb. penne pasta
1 lb. thin asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2" pieces
3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup dry white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 cuo freshly grated Parmesan
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

LOCKDOWN OOTD EDITION PART #1

Hello Fashionistas,

I haven’t had much to get dressed for during the pandemic quarentine, so most of my time is spent in pajamas and t-shirts so when I go out to shop is really when I have the urge to get dressed. I have gotten so sick of just wearing outfit when going out for essential purposes that today I decided to get semi dressed up and put together a few other outfits so leta get into it.

OOTD'S THESE DAYS BE LIKE...

Cute, simple and comfy ; I need some form of normalcy so from her on out I will be semi dressing this is as close to my regular routine that I've been able to have and I must admit it feels great !. I will have some more content to share next week then I did today, because simce I've been lzy dressing there was a lack of eagerness to take a selfie so yeah. I encourage yall to dress as if you were going out to do your routine things because we need it, crave it and under estinated the importance ot being able to explore and travel the world freely as we want so join me in dressing to stay in regardless of having the energy or urge to do so.

HOME SCHOOLING: LEARNING TOOLS PRE K-6TH

Hello Fashion Moms,

I hope you and your family are doing well during this unprecedented and unexpected pandemic that has changed the way we live, work, shop and educate our kids. This is a very scary and rapid thing that is devastating familes and businesses worldwide, but we can get through this if EVERYONE takes the requested percaustions/guidelines given to us by Government officials and although it feels like a broken record is being played daily on the news but FACTS CAN'T BE ERASED just comply.

With that said, today's post is all about homeschooling since we are suppose to be social distancing all school districts have closed schools until further notice; This was a important and smart decision for the safety of students and school staff. Like many of you, this is something new and you may be stuck not knowing what resources are available or are in need of something different to try out. So I am here to help you ease some of that confusion or stress today with what I have gotten from my daughters school and teacher that can be of some use to your Kinder-6th grade students while at home.

HOME SCHOOL: USEFUL LEARNING APPS

These are apps that my daughters teacher uses during class but zapzap math we found on our own before the pandemic began. Today I was able to pick up a school issued iPad for Nevaeh to keep up with her education and I enjoyed watching her utilize it in the comfort of our home and was happy to see even though we had been doing very little of school related work with her before gettinf the iPad she hadn't gotten foggy brained. Within the next few days we will be finding out how her teacher plans to continue classwork via some online video communication platform.

Also the school district put together a few pdf files of things we could do without an iPad for school work and these are useful for grades K-6th with some for TK as well and I will share with you the results in the following weeks.

Also Scholstic books is giving you the option to recieve your book order at home during the pandemic and also has free learning materials just go to their website. But when ordering books ask your students teacher for the classroom code so you can still help the class receive free books.

I learned about this e learning website from a friend and it also is for grades K-6th

I hope this we helpful and your kids continue to gain knowledge during such a detaching moment in time. Although this is new to all parents, but you can get through this chaos with the kids at home everyday take it a day at time and give your self time to rest when needed whether that be by taking a nap or just letting the kids play for awhile to get energy out. We have to take care of ourselves so that we don't get frustrated or annoyed by how bored the kids are for the remainder of this pandemic.
