New Super Mario Brothers sold 240K in first week!

Woah, that's alot. Nintendo 3DS's new game New Super Mario Bros. 2 had a really good selling start with 240,000 copies sold in a week ( August 19 - August 26 ).
I was one of the proud buyers and i have to say, The NSMB 2 impressed me more than the First New super Mario Bros. on a DS. It has a bunch of new stuff, the gameplay is for sure better than on the first one, and do i even need to mention the graphics? The graphics is great, of course better than on the first Super Mario cause this is Nintendo 3DS....!

If you are thinking of buying your first 3DS game, i suggest this one, cause, you know, it just has some of the basic controlls which help you meet your new Console and become a more advanced user...

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 release date

Hello,
it's official: PES 2013 is coming out 21st September for xBox 360, PS3 and PC. Woaah!
I'm so happy i'll be able to play it so early! The release date is earlier than expected and earlier than in the past few years!

It's funny cause PES 13 is coming out just a week before new Fifa. So i think that's the reason why is it coming out so early, every year Fifa has been Coming out Before PES, but hell no! This year things are different, Konami finally did something about it!

Fifa 13 or PES 13?

Well hello everyone... :)
Fifa 13 or PES 13? - The question i'm being asked every day. Don't worry - i'm here, i was able to play both of the games so i will share my opinions with you. Note: I played them only for like 10 minutes. If you are wondering how was i able to play them, well, A really great friend of mine works in one gaming company ( Sorry i can't tell you the name ) and he asked me would i like to try some new games. I was like Sure why not? Soo yea...

So let's start:

I would like to say that Fifa is a really different game than Pro Evolution Soccer:

Note: Fifa 13 is more of a cinematic game, i don't how to say it... When PES 13 is more of a arcade game, you can play with your friends, family and never get bored.

Graphics: I think Fifa 13 has a little better graphics than PES 13. If we are talking about the faces - in my opinion PES is the winner here. Konami did a great job designing player faces.

Gameplay: Everyone has their own opinion, and so do i: Gameplay is MUCH better in PES than FIFA, again, this is just my opinion. Fifa 13 , as i mentioned above, is more of a cinematic game it is true that it has hell of a better player movements that Pes. I think they should have focused more on the gameplay and less on cinematics, but, EA is that kind of company, and i respect that.

It's sooo cool that Fifa 13 is supporting kinect, unfortunately, i played the PC version. ( with a controller )

PES 13 is like... an arcade game, both games are fun when you play with friends, but PES dominates. Great.

So i would recommend getting Pes 2013. Why? -- Better gameplay, i think that's all that matters in sport-simulation games, i mean, graphic is important too. You can't enjoy gameplay with a crappy graphics. Even if i prefer Pes over Fifa i think that's not the best they can do...

Nintendo Wii U price and release date!!! - out Nov. 11 for $250?!

Nintendo Wii U release date appears to be November 11. That is 99% correct, so... cool!

Price

This is the fun part. :D How much do you think it will cost?
It will cost 250$, 300$ and 350$. Yea i don't really get why are there 3 prices but i suppose it's going to be like an xBox 360 with kinect package and without kinect package... Get me?

EA expecting "golden age" of gaming soon

Ten years ago EA Label boss Frank Gibeau said "The EA executive pointed to the rapidly growing size of the industry as a positive point." Now, he says "From this chaos, you're going to get a new order, a new approach, that's going to be a very vibrant time for games,Yes, there's chaos right now, but a golden age is coming."

What the hell should we supposed to mean by that?
Sorry, i'm so pissed now, i broke my arm trying to reach an xBox 360 controller while i layed on my bed, and i had a really bad landing and... It happens... Gosh! How could i be so stupid!!!

Nice, right?

Do you really belive what Mr. EA boss says? I mean, how can he know that "golden age is coming", when they almost bankrupted. Hehe, well this post is not really important but i was like "What the hell, i'm bored" and i shared it with ya!

PS3 or xBox 360?

Hello folks,
I was thinking about pre-ordering Borderlands 2 and i thank of something that i think amost every time i'm buying a multiplatform game and i think a lot of you guys face with the same problem: PlayStation 3 or xBox 360? Of course i buy games for my PS Vita, my Nintendo's and especially my PC, but when it comes to the regular multiplatforms like Need for Speed for example i usually buy them for my xBox 360 or PS3. If we are talking about First person shooters i don't really like playing them on consoles so i almost always buy them for my PC.

The last thing i have to say before we actually start is that i have not included PC in this because we are talking about the "same gen" consoles. I don't really know how to explain it but that doesn't matter right now.

If you have the same issues just follow these simple steps. ;)
The question is xBox 360 or PS3? I can't really answer that question directly. Why? Well, there are a lot of reasons:

1. Price - For example: If you see a Playstation 3 version of a game that is much cheaper than the one on the xBox - Buy it.

2. Technical issues - Skyrim for example, is a multiplatform, and i and a lot of people would go for an xBox 360 version. Why? Because PS3 version has a bunch of technical issues and is not really worth the money. So, technical issues is number two: Always go for a platform that doesn't have any technical issues or has minimum issues.

3. Pick what you like - If you prefer one platform over another, buy a game for what you like to play on and on what you enjoy more.

3. Search the web - Search the web for other people's opinions on each platform and decide.

Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII announced and Details

Square Enix announced their new game which will be the last one in the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.
It seems like it will be an open world game that takes place within the world Novus Partus, which contains four large islands and the game will chronicle the last thirteen days of the game's universe.
Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be out in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and xBox360. The fitst

It's almost Official - New xBox and Playstation are soon on the store shells!

There's sooo many xBox 720 and ps4 rumors going around the internet these days even if
Microsoft and Sony have not officially announce their next-gen consoles, third-party publishers are already working out their launch gameplans. I read an interesting interview today and i tough i gotta share it with you. Speaking to Bloomberg this week, EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau said that when new hardware arrives “in about a year’s time,” his company won’t be making the same technological mistakes seen this generation. Oh and by the way text marked in green is from GamesRadar.

“It’s a big investment for us this year,” he said. “What you first have to do is start with the technology, the hardware, what’s coming out, and what it does really, really well, and understand what’s going to drive innovation there.”

Addressing EA’s weak start on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Gibeau said that EA “made a couple of mistakes in how we built our technology,” explicitly noting such defining current-gen features as high-definition graphics and online platforms. He went on to note that for the upcoming generation, EA’s technology approach can be seen in the the Frostbite development engine, which powers such games as Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

EA is currently prepping three to five new intellectual properties for release on the new hardware within 24 months of their launch. Additional information on these titles was not provided.

I was happy seeing these news, i am really really excited about next-gen consoles. Are you?

The Vita's biggest problem

What's Vita's biggest problem? Why is it selling so weak? Well, dear readers,to date, it's been
a struggle to turn Vita into a success for Sony. Sales have been weaker than expected for a variety
of reasons. First of all you have to buy Vita for 250$, and than you have to buy a game which is 40$+, and we also need a memory card and so on. But why buy that when mobile gaming is stronger than ever? You can afford a great game on Android for a few bucks. I think Sony's big problem is that it seems like Sony has taken forever to do the things it was supposed to do in the first place. I don't understand why it took so long to launch a YouTube app, for example.

I will admit Vita is so attractive but too expensive:

I can't wait for new PS Vita games, they seem they will be so good. Will you buy them?

Why so few PSone titles are available in the US?

I read that Sony explained why so few titles are available? Well that was necessary, cause it sure did

"Each territory is completely unique and must go through its own individual processes for approvals in order to be available for purchase directly on PS Vita through PlayStation Store. We work collaboratively with all parties involved, including third party publishers, to ensure that we are following the proper protocol. As of right now, there are nine PS one classics titles available on the PS Vita store, however we are working hard to expand this list as soon as possible."

Well i'm glad to hear that, and boy i'm glad i'm not living in America.

So i turned on my PS Vita and there are 129 games available here in Croatia.

I really had a great, great time with my Vita, it really should sell better.

How to Play PS1 games on PS Vita

PS Vita's new Firmware 1.8 News! Play PS one games on your PS Vita!

Hello everyone. Great news! If you haven't already heard, you can now play PS1 games on your PS Vita! Awesome right? All you need to do is download the games from PlayStation store! It's that Easy! If you still love your PSOne classics, this is the absolute best way to play them! But bad news
for North Americans, they can only play nine psx games. :(
I've red somewhere that Europeans will have hundreds of them. That doesn't make any sense!
However you can always get more games with transfer ( which is not 100% legal ) but it's not like
cops will come to your house for doing it, right? :)

So i tried it on my PS Vita, and this is how it looks.

Aspect ratio is changeable. In the picture above it shows 1:1 which is the sharpest of all but it's bordered with black.

You can fill Vertically or horizontally which looks great but you lose some of the top and bottom of the screen.

If you don't mind things looking a little squashed you can fill the entire screen.

I gotta admit that the games look great, better than on the ps3. So Sony did a great job on this.

Battlefield 3 - An Amazing Game

Battlefield 3 - The best of FPS

Hey guys, today i'm gonna talk about Battlefield. As you may already know i picked Battlefield 3 for game of the day, and it's because it deserves it. Battlefield 3 is one of my favorite First person shooter games. Why? Well there are a lot of reasons. For example, in what other First person shooter game did you see such a great graphics, such a great story line, such a great gameplay...?

I could be counting reasons for two more hours, but i won't cause there are a lot of trailers and gameplay videos on YouTube. First of all let's Check out the trailer:

As you can see, an amazing trailer. A lot of effects and an incredible gameplay. And i'm not saying other first person shooters suck, like Call of Duty, i'm just saying i prefer Battlefield 3 over any Call Of Duty. Don't get me wrong - I like Call of duty games, i like them so much that i own every single Call Of duty game except World at war.

Do you already own Battlefield? Are you thinking like: "What should i buy? CoD or Battlefield 3"
I'm not gonna say "Buy Battlefield 3?" i'm gonna say - Buy what you like.Check out both of the games, play demos, watch trailers, watch gameplay videos. And the first game that gets through your skin - buy it.

So why do i prefer Battlefield 3 over any Call of Duty? Well, you see i was a fan of Call of duty for a long time, but they continued to disappoint me cause they were selling us the exact same game over the years. So i lost my hope in Call of Duty.

When Battlefield 3 came out, i was like "This is something different i should definitely try this game" and i was right, it is something different that non of First person shooters have.

I am really looking Forward to Battlefield 4 right now. However, with a 6 year gap between Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3, chances are we won't be seeing it anytime soon , i just hope they won't disappoint me like Activision.

Pokemon Developer's New 3DS Game: Harmo Knight

Rhythm meets Mario.

Harmo Knight is the new Nintendo 3DS title from Game Freak,
the team behind the Pokémon series.

The game was announced by Satoru Iwata during today's
Nintendo Direct Livestream. From the footage released, it
looks like a hybrid of a traditional side-scrolling platformer,
replete with a Mario Bros-style world hub, and a rhythm
action game. The game's hero charges through levels,
from verdant hilly landscapes to city rooftops, collecting
musical notes and swinging a quaver like a battle axe/golf
club. Presumably, you have to execute your attacks in time
with the game's music. One level shows a different character
shooting enemies from afar with a harp, while another stage
showed the main character in a supped-up musical mine cart.

The video also showcased a boss fight which seemed to introduce
variety into the gameplay. A voice called out the moves that would
be required in time with the music, before the player then had
to input them at the same speed in order to be victorious.

The game is scheduled for release in Japan on
September 5, 2012, priced at ¥1,800. No word
on a Western release date.

Online competitive brawler Happy Wars to be service's first title with freemium model, will require Gold membership.

Free-to-play games are coming for paid subscribers of Xbox Live, Microsoft announced this week. Multiplayer cartoon brawler Happy Wars will lead the business model's charge onto Xbox Live Gold in September, Microsoft told Official Xbox magazine.

Ascend: New Gods, a role-playing game with ad-hoc multiplayer elements, will be another of Xbox Live's first free-to-play offerings and is set to launch in "several months." Microsoft said the free-to-play games will only be available to Gold subscribers because many implement multiplayer, a Gold-only feature. Titles with in-game purchases will use Microsoft Points.

Xbox Live's new offerings will increase the online service's parity with PlayStation Network, which already hosts free-to-play games including DC Universe online and the upcoming Dust 514.

Wii U Launching November 18?

The wii U's release date may have been exposed. A presentation today at the GameStop managers conference by accessory maker PDP allegedly slipped a November 18 release date for the console, kotaku reports. A corroborating report is hosted on NeoGAF.

Rumor has it the Wii U is launching the week of Black Friday.

According to the source, "[PDP] changed the subject real quickly once they realized what they said." A PDP representative issued a statement to Kotaku, which neither confirms nor denies the report.

"At this time we can't confirm Nintendo's dates and we don't know exactly what was heard, but we simply do not know that this point," reads a line from the statement. "We are launching accessories, but the date for the accessories doesn't mean a confirmation on the hardware. If you seek confirmation on the date that is something that is going to need to go specifically though Nintendo, but we can't confirm or deny dates on any of their hardware."

A Nintendo representative told GameSpot, '"We have nothing to announce at this time."

Nintendo is holding a Wii u themed event New York on September. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will present that day on "how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment."

A November 18 launch date for the Wii U falls in line with previous reports. Toki Tori 2 developer Two Tribes had previously said a November launch date for the console was probable, with the more recent scuttlebutts suggesting a launch during the week of the United States' Thanksgiving holiday and the Black Friday shopping frenzy.

List of my Top 10 DS games

My Top 10 Nintendo DS Games

Even if Nintendo DS/i is not "in" anymore, i still think it's one of the best handheld systems ever made and that's why i decided to make this post.In four years with my DS, i played a lot of games on it and i will now choose the top 10 games.

It's gonna be a really hard Choice since the system has Many great games to offer from First Person Shooters to RPGs.
So let's start:

Number 10:

GTA: Chinatown Wars

GTA: Chinatown Wars was released in 2008. All the shooting and running were still
there but with angled-down perspective and with lovely cel-shaded graphics.
Running from the cops was different, too - police needed to be taken down by smashing into them, rather than scarpered from. Apart from the regular missions, there were also a variety of touchscreen mini-games, including hotwiring cars and playing around with your PDA.

The reason why i like this game so much is because it's different than the other GTAs as i mentioned above. Great game, great story line.

Number 9:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Originally released in Japan as a Game Boy Advance title in 2001,Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney finally made its way west-wards in 2005 as a Nintendo DS release. And boy, am i glad it did.

Phoenix Wright is a defense attorney, tasked with searching the scene of a crime for clues, then presenting evidence and cross-examinating witnesses to get his client a Not Guilty verdict.

The storylines are mind-blowingly diverse and clever, while the characters are fun and make the whole experience feel incredibly worthwhile. Phoenix pointing his finger and shouting 'Objection!' will forever be a gaming meme and keep his memory alive.

A flurry of sequels followed Ace Attorney, including spin-offs involving new attorney Apollo Justice and Phoenix's enemy/friend Miles Edgeworth, but the original title remains the best.

Number 8:
The World Ends With You

When i first started playing The World Ends With you i was really excited cause
a lot of people told me it's one of the Best DS games. At first i didn't really
like the game and was dissapointed in the gameplay and the story.

But as you get further in the game it really starts being Fun and Exciting,
I would personally rate the gameplay of the game 4/10 ( my opinion ) but story fixes
everything. This ice-cool romp is a must for RPG fans seeking something a little different.

So here's my final rating:

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story

Fantastic game,the plumbing lads find themselves inside Bowser’s guts.

It's a really fun game because you get to play a lot of Characters in the game.

Animal Crossing: Wild World

Super game that can stick you with your DS for a really long time. Cool, relaxing game with
a lot of excitement. You should definitely get This.

Number 5:

Pokémon Black and White

Even if there are a lot of Fantastic Pokemon games on a DS i chose
this one because its simply the best.Looking forward to Pokemon Black
and White 2!

Number 4:

Scribblenauts

Ehh, what can you say about Scribblenauts, one of the best DS games,
Its so soooo Fun when you have to solve puzzles and you can create anything
you want. Just write the word and its that easy.

Mario Kart DS

Driving and driving, Nintendo's series continue with this Ultra-Awesome game.
It's especially fun when you play multiplayer with players from All over the world,
or if you just play with your friends.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the StarrySkies

In my opinion best RPG game on a DS ever made. Nothing more to say than an excellent
game and i think everyone should try this game, best game on a DS which you can see in
my rating:

The Sale of EA is just the beginning -

Whole gaming industry Suffers a Crisis

As you may know, big gaming industries like Activision and Electronic Arts mentioned above are in a big crisis. Activision has recently responded to the attempted sale of financial instability. However, the problem remained unresolved, given the fact that they have not found a single buyer. To be more precise - not one that would be willing to pay an amount that would satisfy the owners of the troubled publishing giant.

If you think that only Activision has trouble selling games, you are wrong. The entire gaming industry suffers of a gradual, but inevitable fall for a long time .
Does this mean that playing video games has finally emerged out of the trend? Hell, no! Mobile gaming has never been stronger. Social gaming is also experiencing a renaissance.
And what about the triple A titles? What's with big publishers and their multimillion-dollar franchise? Well, despite EA's popular Battlefield, Need for Speed and a few titles
that you will probably be able to count yourself, it is in a financial bind.

This costs a lot. Really.

Specifically, during the first half of 2012 Electronic Arts' stock price has dropped enough that a lot of company's bosses began heating up armchairs. Specifically,
it was not even half a year, and the value of the shares is degraded from 68 to 18 dollars, which caused the company to fall in such a crisis. Yes, it's not the end of fall, and that
there is still half a year to continue to dive. Why gaming today runs in a crisis? Why have large publishers issued beautiful titles for gamers and with totally unclear reasons fail and cause the
cancellation of the entire fiasco as developer teams? The reason for this are, dear readers, everyone. From you, through the publisher, to the media.

Why gaming developers themselves dig a hole under your feet? Because doing triple A titles. Because they realize that they make the most money that way. And ironically, even if one of them receaves an epipfany and says "hey, lets not work only Call of Duty or Warcraft or whatever." he can not. Why? Because their competition is at the same time for the hundreth time upgradeing their franchise in the hope that it will hit the fanbase, add a couple of new fans and perhaps justify the investment. You see, making games like CoD, Assassins Creed, Battlefield, and Final Fantasy costs. A lot. In fact, it costs so much that the companies that issue them often risking their existence solely to the year after the contractions finally pushed out in front of all that insatiable audience. Every game these days has to be better, brighter and more realistic than before. And all that costs.It costs so much that your brains would boil up. Why not go to work cheaper interesting titles? Because it does not lie in the massive money to a company that feeds the audience. They have to go to a "slam dunk" and have to work tried headlines because it's the only sure factor in the industry. It's easy to tell us that we should Move their ass and work better games with better maps of the fantastic new franchises. The problem is to make such a game and sell it well enough to cover herself, and at the same time justify why its developer is not the time spent producing something better like NEW CALL OF DUTY.

The General problem with people today is that they do not realize what the gaming industry has become. the Industry in a full, impersonal, raw, manufacturing sense. Manufacturers of consoles literally puke out new devices in the hope of covering those losses before. Wondering why Nintendo is doing well? Because sales of hardware go before the software, while triple A software is worth mentioning it mainly comes from the company (and 3rd party developers generally work ports and mediocre titles). Wondering why Xbox is doing well? Because their consoles can make crack and because Sony's online service has been paralyzed for several months due to hacker attacks. All these mechanisms are raw. Creativity and imagination in new titles are a part of the job, but do not be fooled that this same work is something fabulous. A large number of creative teams, each one from LA Noire, to the recent Darksiders 2 have a lot to say about the work under brutal deadlines and delusional standards to be achieved. To sumarise, big-gaming is in a crisis today because it is literally incapable of doing something different from what it has worked on for the last six years.

And what about you, the players? You are still part of the problem. Why? Because first of all do not support titles by buying them already, so you download the for pirate sites (at least a part of you, judging by what we read on the forums). Secondly, it supports insanely punching one and the same title by buying them (ironic, I know). Each sold Diablo 3 or Call of Duty or Battlefield guarantees you that the company will make at least one such product, to shake him an impossible amount of money and hope, that you, a year after purchasing the unit, would still want to buy two. Buckles have this circle of life philosophy? And finally, a trend that we have noticed lately is the one which literally affects how the game ends. Do you remember maybe one game called Mass Effect 3? And its end. It does not matter what it ended up de facto third gamers. It is essential that they all chocked when the end did not give them the satisfaction they expected. Before us the classic manner didn't pour in difficulty one to mention one thing - remember how the game worked ten years ago. Have you had an impact on how the fallout ends or (hell) Star Control? Have you ever had the urge to write essays to the developers dictating to them how you have the right to get satisfaction from the game if you bought it. No. Then the things may have been less than in the day, but games are still played. Someone would say even with greater pleasure than today. The future?

BGR reports Sony is planning to implement 4K resolution in its upcoming console as a way to draw consumers to 4K television sets.

Sony is reportedly planning to double the resolution of the PlayStation 3 for its next generation console, according to consumer electronics news siteBGR.

4K has a horizontal pixel count of 4096, and is double the resolution of 1080p. Crazy Huh?

Development on the PlayStation 4 has been tracked back to 2010. Regarding when gamers might see the PS4, PlayStation CEO Andrew House has previously stated the publisher won't show the new hardware until it can demonstrate a "significant" leap over the PS3. Do you think that's true?

As you guys already may know, Nintendo released their redesign version of the 3DS called " Nintendo 3DS XL" which is basiclly an original 3DS but with a 90% larger screen. The system was announced on June 21, 2012. and released on July 28. ( Europe and Japan ) , August 19 ( North America ). However the system was not yet released in Australia and New Zeland, they will have to wait till August 23, 2012.

The new system will also feature a longer battery life than the standard 3DS with the 3DS lasting up to 30 minutes to 1.5 hours longer than the 3DS when playing 3DS games and 1 hour to 2 hours longer when playing DS games.The system will also come with 4gb memory card instead of 2gb memory card which is great but will affect the price: UK retailers have priced the system at £179.99.

Sources says publisher "quietly exploring" sale, with private equity firms KKR and Providence Equity reportedly interested; EA shares surge on the report; analyst calls deal "low probability."

Electronic Arts may be for sale. According to unnamed sources speaking toThe New York Post, the Mass Effect, FIFA, and Battlefield publisher is "quietly exploring" a sale.

EA has reportedly been approached by private equity firms KKR and Providence Equity Partners, the latter of which owns a partial stake in Bethesda parent company Zenimax. The discussions are supposedly in "early days."

EA shares surged by more than 8 percent this morning to over $14 per share, representing the highest intraday gain since February 2, according toBusinessWeek. One source reportedly familiar with EA said the publisher will "do a deal" when the company's share value rises to $20.

An EA representative told GameSpot, "We don’t comment on rumors and speculation."

Asked about the likelihood of EA being sold, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter told GameSpot, "It's a low probability. I don't believe it."

EA is not the only major game publisher that could be sold. Media conglomerate Vivendi is actively interested in selling its stake in World of Warcraft and Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard, though the firm is facing a tough sell.

There are few franchises more synonymous with the PlayStation brand than Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank series. You could make the case for Valkyria Chronicles being hard to

describe -- it's a turn-based strategy role-playing game mixed

with anime and some third-person shooter mechanics -- but we

think that's a cop out. Call it "great" and move on. Lead your

troops through an alternate 1930s Europe, fight for freedom,

and build your squad as you see fit. Beautiful art and

award-winning gameplay combine for something every PS3 player

should try. Now, SEGA, patch it with Trophies.

Original superheroes in games don't happen all that often, so when

developer Sucker Punch (makers of the first three Sly Cooper games)

announced Infamous, comic nerds held their breath. Luckily, everything

worked out. In Infamous, players take on the role of Cole MacGrath.

An explosion turned Empire City into a walled city of super-powered

people, and Cole has to decide if he wants to use his electricity-based

powers fight the good fight or rule the playground. A sandbox game,

Infamous gives you your powers, some cool comic cutscenes and turns

you loose.

It doesn't reek of the same
quality of Grand Theft Auto IV, but
Saints Row: The Third is still easily one of the best open world
sandbox games ever created and a testament to how other developers
can take a formula Rockstar created and do something different
with it. In Saints Row: The Third, the major difference comes
from how completely over-the-top everything is, from the story
and characters to the gameplay and weaponry. It’ll take you dozens
of hours to see and do everything in Saints Row: The Third,
which is a good thing, because it happens to play splendidly, too.

It's a shame that more people didn't play Vanquish,

because its third-person shooting mechanics are among

the best of the generation. Developed by Platinum Games,

Vanquish tells the story of a futuristic Earth where

a densely-populated planet has everyone on edge.

The United States and Russia do battle both on Earth and in space,

and that's where your character, Sam Gideon, comes into play.

Vanquish has been talked about as what a GI Joe game could have

and should have been, and with good reason. The over-the-top enemies

you're fighting invoke GI Joe, as do the awesome vehicles, while

the sci-fi story keeps the narrative moving quickly.

There are plenty of shooters to go around, for instance.

But every so often, something comes out that's so radically unlike

anything else that came before it that it's hard to ignore.

One such game is Catherine, a title from Atlus. Catherine tells

the story of a man who is cheating on his girlfriend.

The story is told through nightmare sequences that require gamers to

traverse gruelingly-difficult block puzzles. Those sequences are

broken-up by awesome story-telling interludes that make the entire game

come together, quite the feat for something that's so authentically unique.

BioShock shoved something into first-person shooters you

don't always see -- story.

Players start adrift in the ocean -- the plane they were on

has crashed -- and find an elevator to an underwater world

that's all sorts of screwed up. Rapture, a utopia created by

industrialist Andrew Ryan, has seen better days, and by using

weapons and hacking a bunch of super-abilities known as

plasmids, it was up to us to set the world right -- or at least

survive it.

It took over a year, but by the end of 2007, PlayStation 3 finally

had a Triple-A game that had the gaming masses drooling all over

themselves. That game was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

A third-person action-adventure title from Naughty Dog, the creators of

Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter, Drake's Fortune told the story of

Nathan Drake, an adventurer distantly related to the famous explorer

Francis Drake. Nathan's exploits are now the stuff of PlayStation legend,

and Drake's Fortune is where the series kicked-off. And as many would

rightfully argue, Uncharted is now easily the most important exclusive

franchise on Sony's console.

The bar was high for Kratos' true PlayStation 3 debut.

The God of War franchise was known for being one of the

most beautiful and brutal franchises in the PlayStation stable,

so it's leap to HD needed to be nothing short of jaw-dropping.

Sony Santa Monica delivered. The (supposed) finale in Kratos' story

took us up against lowly thugs, huge monsters, and even the Gods

themselves. Whether we were pounding someone's face in from the beaten's

perspective or pulling off a massive combo, we were enjoying ourselves

in God of War III.

Millions upon millions of

gamers live for a game like

Grand Theft Auto IV. Set in an impressively large and

diverse sandbox Liberty City, Grand Theft Auto

IV puts you in the role of Niko Bellic, an Eastern European

immigrant who comes to the United States for the very first time.

It's in the seedy Liberty City that his exploits begin, as he claws

his way up from obscurity to a force to be reckoned with.

All of the classic GTA mechanics are here, from jacking cars

to killing just about anyone you come across. But in size,

scope and polish alone, Grand Theft Auto IV is a marvel worthy

of any game fan's admiration.

The orginal LittleBigPlanet
introduced the PlayStation
community to the idea of creating content and sharing it
with the world. LittleBigPlanet 2 blew the doors off that idea.
No longer were players limited to only being able to create levels.
Now, you could create games, races, cutscenes, and movies.
LittleBigPlanet 2 kept the Sackboy platforming
and collecting everyone knew and loved. It even brought over the
million levels created in the original game.
That number has only been added to since launch, and new DLC always
keeps this title fresh.

Comic book video games

don't have a great track record,

so when Batman: Arkham Asylum got announced, nerds

held their breath and hoped for the best. Luckily, the

folks at developer Rocksteady turned out to be some

huge Dark Knight fans and delivered the best comic book

game in years. From its excellent voice acting, stunning

graphics and awesome Bat-gadgets, Batman: Arkham Asylum was

a game that every comic book fan could pop in and get lost in.

And most importantly, it was a blast to play. Also, you could

say "I am Batman" and mean it.

A fitting conclusion to one

of the greatest trilogies in all of

gaming, Mass Effect 3 raises the ante significantly compared to

the two previous games in the series. The threat the Reapers pose

galaxy-wide is imminent, and it’s up to Commander Shepard and his

(or her) diverse crew to stop the Reapers from destroying life as

we know it. The wonderful story, character development and gameplay

the Mass Effect series is renowned for persists in Mass Effect 3,

but what perhaps makes it stand out most is its surprisingly fun

multiplayer mode.

Between games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Manhunt,

Rockstar Games started to put itself in a sort of hole.

By releasing the epically-good Red Dead Redemption,

however, Rockstar managed to show the world that it's

capable of far more than just blood, guts, gore and sex.

Don't get me wrong – Red Dead Redemption has all of that

in spades – but it also has deep characters, a great story,

and a totally unique western setting that sits in stark

comparison to the modern cities of the GTA franchise.

Red Dead Redemption is a truly deep game that's worthy

of your attention, especially if you have scores of

hours to sink into a single title.

Let’s come right out and say it: Resistance 3 is the best

PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter. The Resistance franchise

has always been known for its dark, dreary and hopeless

setting since Fall of Man launched alongside the PS3 itself,

but Resistance 3 is perhaps even more dire than anything

you’ve seen in the series.

Nathan Hale is no more -- Joseph Capelli is now the man

charged with stopping the Chimera -- and his travels across

America to Chimera-occupied New York City will go down as

some of the most fun, story-driven adventuring available on

PlayStation 3, a true testament to the amazing abilities of

its developer, Insomniac Games.

Let's not overlook the task developer Rocksteady had with

Batman: Arkham City. After proving comic book games didn't

have to suck with its first Bat-outing -- Arkham

Asylum -- Rocksteady decided to take the cape crusader into

an open world chockfull of classic rogues such as the Penguin,

the Mad Hatter, Hush and more. Batman: Arkham City upped the

original by giving Batman new gadgets and environments but stayed

true to the addictive combat and award-winning storytelling

the franchise made its name on. It gave us Catwoman missions,

a race against time, and one of the best Joker stories ever told.

Now, give us more.

Following-up on a game like the original Infamous isn't necessarily easy,

but developer Sucker Punch was up to the challenge.

The first game showed us Cole MacGrath, a bike

messenger-turned-superhero

who was endowed with extraordinary electrical powers. Infamous 2

changes pace by introducing a new city and new powers, but the

sandbox mechanics remained the same, as did the action-heavy combat

that makes Infamous 2 so fun. The city the game takes place in,

the New Orleans-inspired New Marais, is one of the coolest locales

any video game has ever been set in and is a true testament to the

power of the PlayStation 3.

Developer Quantic Dream is known for pushing boundaries in games,

and that's exactly what Heavy Rain did. Packing a crazy motion/quicktime

control scheme, Heavy Rain had you switching between four

characters who were all tied up in the kidnappings and murders

perpetrated by the Origami Killer. Packing 22 ending movies,

your choices mattered and directly influenced what happened in

the story. Let the kidnapped kid die, let your characters die,

never solve the mystery -- all of these outcomes were possible

and made for some excellent replay value. Quantic Dream called

Heavy Rain "interactive drama," and we have to agree.

Last year, we wondered if Portal 2 made it to the list a bit too early.

The game had just come out, after all. Here, a year later, we can tell

you that it didn't. Portal 2 is awesome. Once again, players are a test

subject in the halls of Aperture Science and need to use a portal gun

to solve crazy puzzles. And as awesome as the portal puzzles are -- you

shoot once to make an entrance and once to make a connected exit -- it was

the story of this game that really turned heads. Clever writing,

interesting twists, comedy, and robot characters you couldn't help

but love and loathe. Toss in multiplayer that could connect with PC players,

and you have one hell of a game. That's why Portal 2 smokes so many on

our list.

Do you like the idea of spending hundreds of hours on a

single game? Do you like RPGs and shooters? Then you'll

be absolutely thrilled withFallout 3 from Bethesda,

a game that mixes all of those elements together into

one of the most stunning gaming experiences in recent memory.

Fallout 3 tells the story of The Wastelander, a nameless hero

(or villain) who is unleashed from his nuclear fallout shelter

into an uncertain, alien world. Fallout 3 is all about

exploration and choice, which is why the game takes so long to

complete, and why it also has inherent replay value that brings

the term "bang for your buck" to nearly unparalleled heights.

When you think of space adventures, you probably think of

Star Wars. And rightfully so. But BioWare's Mass Effect saga

is an epic space adventure in its own right, one that tells

a stunningly realistic story set in a futuristic, science

fiction-heavy galaxy. Mass Effect 2 continues the story of

Commander Shepard, a human who wields incredible influence

in a galaxy full of hostile aliens. So much influence, in fact,

that a private corporation revives Shepard after he

(or she) dies and sets him (or her) off on a choice-laden adventure.

Everything about Mass Effect 2 reeks of the highest quality,

from its aesthetics to its gameplay. Jetting around the stars

has never even remotely been as fun or satisfying.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves took everything great about

Uncharted: Drake's Deception and amped it up.

From escaping a collapsing building to scaling

a falling train, Uncharted 2 played like a summer

blockbuster and introduced a slew of new characters

that kept the sequel to the Nathan/Elena love story

fresh. This is all ignoring how goshdarn beautiful

the game was and the visual bar it set for the PlayStation 3.

Plus, developer Naughty Dog tossed in a brand new multiplayer

mode that the teams supported until it debuted with upgrades

and revamps in Uncharted 3. Speaking of...

I said it in my review and I'll say it again:

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deceptionis the reason I play video games.

From breath-taking graphics to truly fun gameplay to a bromance

that kept me guessing at what was around the next turn,

Uncharted 3 is a tour de force. Many would -- and will in the

comments below -- make the argument that Uncharted 2 is superior

to Uncharted 3, but we disagree. Uncharted 2 followed a setup

extremely similar to the original Uncharted, and Uncharted 3 deviated.

The third entry in Naughty Dog's series played with the supernatural

twist, sent us back in time, and gave us a story that wasn't all about

Drake's lady problems. Here we wrestled with family and how far Drake

could ask his best friends to go.

OnLive to continue as newly-formed company

Newly-formed company will operate under the OnLive name using all of the previous company's assets; services, apps, and current initiatives to continue uninterrupted.

OnLive have clarified recent industry reports regarding the sale of its assets to another company.

In a public statement released today designed, the company confirmed that after a series of "difficult financial decisions" it had sold all of its assets (including its technology and intellectual property) to a newly-formed company that will continue to operate under the OnLive name. An affiliate of Lauder Partners has been confirmed as the first investor in the newly-structured company.

OnLive will now become…OnLive.

The decision was made after OnLive's board of directors decided to pursue a restructuring under an "Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors", which led to the sale of OnLive's assets to the newly-formed company.

According to OnLive, the nature of this transaction did not allow the company to transfer its shares or its staff; however, the company says almost half of OnLive's staff were given employment offers by the new company at their current salaries immediately upon after transfer. The non-hired staff will also be allegedly given offers of consulting work in return for options in the new company.

"Upon closing additional funding, the company plans to hire more staff, both former OnLive employees as well as new employees," the company said in its statement. Speaking on already-existing reports about OnLive's sale of assets, a company spokesperson noted that only company executives had access to the information regarding the transaction, and that "much of what we are seeing is fiction".

OnLive also used the public statement to reassure users, saying all OnLive games, products, services, devices, apps, current partnerships and current initiatives are expected to continue without interruption, with all customer purchases allegedly remaining intact. The company says it also expects to make "major announcements" regarding the launch of new products and services in the coming weeks and months.

"The asset acquisition, although a heartbreaking transition for everyone involved with OnLive, allows the company’s core innovation and ongoing offerings--the product of over a decade of hard work transforming the OnLive vision into reality--to survive and continue to evolve."

Q. Will users see any change in the OnLive Game or Desktop Services? What about their purchases?

A. Users should see no change in the OnLive Game or Desktop Services. All of their purchases remain intact and available. OnLive has been up 24/7 since launch over two years ago and expects to remain so. OnLive has over 2.5 million subscribers, with an active base of over 1.5 million subscribers, connecting from a vast range of devices and networks, with many sessions running for hours. The user base is growing rapidly with OnLive’s addition into recently announced devices and TVs from major manufacturers. We expect this growth to continue under the new company.

Q. Is there any cash or stock in the new company provided for any OnLive, Inc. shares?

A. Unfortunately not. The nature of the transaction is such that only assets, not shares, were purchased. This is true for all shares of OnLive, Inc., whether held by investors, employees or executives.

Q. Did Steve Perlman receive stock or compensation in this transaction?

A. Like all shareholders, neither Steve nor any of his companies received any stock in the new company or compensation in this transaction at all. Steve is receiving no compensation whatsoever and most execs are receiving reduced compensation to allow the company to hire as many employees as possible within the current budget.
