It is often said that no player can dominate snooker these days because there are so many good players, but Betfred.com World Champion John Higgins is making a decent fist of proving that theory wrong.

He won 18 of his last 19 matches in full ranking events at the end of the 2010/11 season, a campaign in which he captured the two biggest ranking titles in snooker.

Higgins missed the first few events of the season due to a ban for breaching betting regulations, but hit the ground running on his comeback by winning the Euro Players Tour Championship event in Hamm, Germany, beating Shaun Murphy 4-2 in the final. He also reached the final of the next EPTC event in Prague but lost to Michael Holt.

The Scot went on to win the 12BET.com UK Championship, beating Mark Williams 10-9 in an incredible final. He trailed 9-5 at one stage but fought his way back, crucially winning the 17th frame after needing a snooker on the yellow. "I just tried to stay focussed all week here and go about things my own way. I was determined not to let anything stop me from winning it," he said.

Higgins had to pull out of the German Masters due to the sad death of his father, John Snr, and it was an emotional moment when he returned to action at the Wyldecrest Welsh Open. Once again he kept his focus on the table and went all the way to the first prize, coming from 5-2 down in the final to beat Stephen Maguire 9-6.

His only ranking event defeat came against Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals of the Bank of Beijing China Open, and Higgins went to Sheffield determined to land the World title for the fourth time. Victories over Stephen Lee, Rory McLeod, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Williams, put him into the final against young sensation Judd Trump.

Once again Higgins had to recover a deficit as he trailed 10-7 overnight, but snooker's version of the Terminator just can't be killed off. Inspired by an extraordinary atmosphere, he hit back to win 18-15.

"I want to get to seven world titles now, because I've won three in the last five years," said ambitious Higgins. "I've rededicated myself in recent years and I want to keep winning it. Since I came back in November I have won pretty much everything I have entered. It has been an ubelieveable six or seven months for me. I am scrapping for everything now; every point, every frame, every match."

The previous season had yielded just one title for Higgins - the Welsh Open which he took with a 9-4 final success over Ali Carter.

Higgins won his first World title in 1998 when he beat Ken Doherty 18-12 in the final, and his second in 2007 when he got the better of Mark Selby 18-13. His third came in 2009 when he beat the cream of the crop of snooker's emerging talent, knocking out Jamie Cope, Selby and Mark Allen before beating Shaun Murphy 18-9 in the final.

"To come through the matches with the standard put up by Cope, Selby and Allen, three of the best young players we have in the game, and to fight fire with fire when they played really well, to come through that gave me an enormous boost of confidence coming into the final," he said.

With a superb tactical game to go alongside his break-building class, he is considered alongside Steve Davis the best all-round players of the modern era.

Higgins has won 24 ranking titles in all, as well as the Masters twice. In the thrilling 2006 Masters final at Wembley he faced Ronnie O'Sullivan. Tied at 9-9, O'Sullivan opened the deciding frame with a break of 60 only for Higgins to clear the table with a brilliant 64 which included several do-or-die pots. "This win will stay with me for the rest of my days," he said.

Higgins has made five competitive 147 breaks, including two in consecutive matches - one in the 2003 LG Cup final and the next in the first round of the subsequent British Open.

His hobbies include watching football and playing golf. He enjoys gourmet food and cooking and appeared alongside Shaun Murphy on BBC show Ready Steady Cook.

He has also recently appeared on Celebrity Mastermind, showing off his knowledge of the TV soap Dallas, as well as winning £30,000 for charity on All Star Mr And Mrs.

He and wife Denise have young sons called Pierce and Oliver and a daughter called Claudia.

Williams completed his remarkable rise back up the ranking list by finishing the 2010/11 season at No 1 in the world.

At one stage in late 2007 he fell as low as 47th on the provisional list, but his return to form must be considered one of the most spectacular in snooker history.

His 2010/11 season was highlighted by victory in the new German Masters, achieved with a 9-7 defeat of Mark Selby in the final in Berlin watched by a packed house of nearly 2,500 fans.

"I'm really happy with that win, it was a nerve-wracking experience, both in front of that unbelievable crowd," he said after winning his 18th ranking event in all and eighth overseas. "I think I get into a good mindset ahead of the overseas events, I know I'll have a long flight and lots of travelling and that doesn't affect me - and crucially I adapt to whatever conditions I find quickly."

The Welshman also reached the final of the 12BET.com UK Championship and looked set for the title when he led John Higgins 9-5, only for his opponent to fight back and win 10-9. And it was Higgins who proved his nemesis again at the Betfred.com World Championship, this time at the semi-final stage. Again Williams led 9-5, but could not pull away and Higgins recovered to win 17-14.

Williams also won the first ever Players Tour Championship event - beating Stephen Maguire 4-0 in the final - during a very successful season.

The previous season had seen Williams win his first ranking title in four years, beating Ding Junhui 10-6 in the final of the China Open.

Known for his awesome single-ball potting and exceptional touch, Williams first ruled the Crucible in 2000 when he became the only left-hander to win the world title.

He came from 13-7 down to beat fellow Welshman Matthew Stevens 18-16. His second world title followed three years later when he beat Ken Doherty by the same scoreline in another close final. That completed an incredible hat-trick of snooker's biggest titles as earlier that season he had won the UK Championship and the Masters.

He has won the Masters twice and his first Wembley crown came in dramatic circumstances in 1999 as the final against Hendry went down to a respotted black, Williams potting it to a baulk corner after Hendry had missed a chance to a centre pocket.

Williams made the first competitive 147 of his career in a match against Rob Milkins at Sheffield in 2005 - and that was handy timing as it scooped him a £161,000 bonus. He became the fifth player to make a maximum at the Crucible.

In 2004, Williams was awarded the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. "It is a tremendous honour for me, for Wales and for the game of snooker," he said.

In his teenage years, Williams was a keen boxer and won several fights before being on the wrong end of a thumping from an older, heavier boy which curtailed his brief career in the ring. His hobbies include playing golf and five-a-side football as well as driving exotic sports cars and motorbikes. He and wife Joanne have sons called Connor, born in 2004, and Kian, born in 2007.

He was born June 3rd 1986 in Manacor, Mallorca to Sebastián and Ana María. He has great sporting heritage as his Uncle is former F.C. Barcelona footballer Miguel Ángel Nadal. Between 1986 and 2001 (the year in which he turned pro at only age 15) he developed a brilliant all round game playing left-handed despite being naturally right-handed.
His rise since then has been a quick and exhilarating one. In 2002, he won his first ATP match at Majorca at the age of 15, defeating Ramon Delgado to become the ninth player in the Open Era to win an ATP match before his 16th birthday. One year later in 2003 he became the second-youngest player to be ranked among the world's top 100 singles players and earned ATP Newcomer of the Year. At his Wimbledon debut, at only age 16, he became the youngest player to reach the 3rd round since 16-year-old Boris Becker in 1984 and in July 2003 he reached the Spanish championships where he lost to Lopez.

She has been wrestling since 2001 and in that time has worked for several independent promotions across the United States, with guest matches in England and Japan. She is known for her banshee gimmick, howling at her opponents and referees who stand in her way, as well as her unusually flexible body that allows her to perform, and be subjected to, modified submission holds.

For two years, between 2008 and 2010, she was a triple crown champion holding the NWA World Women's Championship for the second time, as well as the Shimmer Championship and the NWA Midwest Women's Championship. Melina Nava Perez was born on March 9, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. Though raised in an athletic household (her father was a boxer while her mother worked out on a regular basis), Melina Perez initially found herself drawn toward endeavors of a distinctly artistic nature. “When I was young and around my family, you could say I was a little diva,” Melina Perez explains. “I’d dance around, and I’d pretend like I was a little ballerina. I was always in my own little world.”

She subsequently spent the majority of her adolescent years pursuing a variety of non-athletic goals, including a stint in her school’s choir and a brief attempt at becoming a journalist. Melina Perez’s popularity among her fellow students played in instrumental role in her gig as Homecoming Queen: “I was never in one set clique,” she says. “I got along with everyone. [Being Homecoming Queen] was important to me because I represented all of my friends.”
It was thanks to one of her pals that Melina Perez first got into the wrestling scene, as she was encouraged to include the sport as part of her rigorous workout regimen. Mickie James is an American professional wrestler and valet, who is sometimes known by her former stage name Alexis Laree. After wrestling on the independent circuit for years, James was signed to a developmental contract by World Wrestling Entertainment in October 2003. In October 2005 she was promoted to the main roster and assigned to the RAW brand.

Career

Mickie James made her professional debut in the summer of 1999 as a ring valet for KYDA Pro Wrestling in Manassas, Virginia. She started out managing some of the most popular stars in the promotion such as Steve Corino and Tommy Dreamer, but eventually found herself being drawn into feuds with other wrestlers and their valets and managers. Eventually James chose to step into the ring as a wrestler herself.

Although most of James’s matches have been against women, some of her most memorable matches would be against men. She scored her first big win in a match against Sean Lei. One of the most highly acclaimed matches she has participated in was in June 2003 for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as a member of The Gathering. She teamed with Julio Dinero against NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett in a 2-on-1 Clockwork Orange House of Fun match. This match pits competitors inside a steel cage adorned with weapons of various types.

James’s career has gone through many promotions. In late 1999 she expanded out to other promotions including all-female promotions Beautiful Babes of Wrestling (BBOW) and Professional Girl Wrestling Association (PGWA). She probably made her largest impact wrestling for Maryland Championship Wrestling, where she engaged in several long-running feuds.

In January 2001 James made her debut appearance for two new women’s promotions, Dangerous Women of Wrestling (DWOW) and Women’s Extreme Wrestling (WEW). Both promotions worked together to promote women’s wrestling with a hardcore edge, and WEW had regular monthly pay-per-view matches. James’s feuds from here include matches against “Prime Time” Amy Lee, Dee-Dee Venturi, a re-ignition of her feud with Candie from MCW, and the start of a new series of feuds with “Simply Luscious” Ronnie Stephens. Her matches against Stephens stretched to many independent promotions in the northeast.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

On March 26, 2003 James appeared on a NWA:TNA PPV. Although she was on NWA:TNA’s first-ever PPV in late 2002 as part of the all-women’s lingerie battle royal, her arrival in 2003 marked the first time she was highlighted, as she helped out The Amazing Red in a mixed tag-team match against Kid Kash and valet Trinity. Two weeks later the two women would have a match against each other which ended prematurely when James was dragged away by the recently debuted Raven. Later that evening, it emerged that James had somehow become a part Raven’s new group, The Gathering, which would later be expanded with the addition of Julio Dinero. The Gathering was a smaller part of Vince Russo’s “Sports Entertainment Xtreme” (S.E.X.), and with Raven assuming some control of the group, they immediately focused on Raven’s attempt to take the NWA World Heavyweight title away from champion Jeff Jarrett. Over the next few weeks The Gathering broke away as James and Dinero helped Raven win his matches and would even start engaging Jeff Jarrett himself. On April 16, 2003 Jeff Jarrett was challenged to a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match against James and Dinero, marking the first time a woman had ever participated in this dangerous style of cage match. Jarrett powerbombed James from the top rope and through a table with Dinero laying on top, however Raven would run in, attack Jarrett with his “Raven Effect” DDT, and put Dinero on top for the pin. Raven would lose his first-ever NWA World Heavyweight title match against Jarrett two weeks later. The Gathering would arise again shortly thereafter, starting a feud with Father James Mitchell and his Disciples of the New Church faction. On July 30, 2003 The Gathering would lose a Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match against The New Church. James again participated in this match, making her the only woman to participate in it twice. At the end of the match James was hit in the face by a fireball from Mitchell and would not be seen on NWA-TNA broadcasts again. On August 18, 2003 James was offered a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. She was immediately replaced on the next NWA-TNA PPV by CM Punk, who had been feuding against Raven but had recently won his respect after Punk beat Raven in a Dog Collar Match weeks earlier.

World Wrestling Entertainment

2003-2005

October 2003 would mark a new calling for James, however. After appearing on several PPVs for NWA-TNA, she finally caught the attention of World Wrestling Entertainment. She was signed to a developmental contract and immediately sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Kentucky to begin training. In early 2004 she started making television appearances for the promotion and has been regularly included in storylines including feuds with Jillian Hall, Melina, Trudi Denucci, Nikita, Passion, Shaniqua, Melissa Coates, Ms. Blu, Beth Phoenix, & Shelly.

Although they never crossed paths as part of The Gathering, James and CM Punk were briefly united as a new team in WWE, with James serving as Punk’s valet for a taping of WWE HEAT in Cleveland, Ohio on July 25, 2005. The match was not aired, and plans to team the two together were abandoned.

James made her debut proper on the October 10, 2005 episode of WWE RAW under her real name, and was billed as an obsessed fan of Trish Stratus coming to her rescue following an attack on Stratus by Victoria. A similar storyline featuring Tori and then-WWF Women’s Champion Sable took place in 1998 and 1999. On the October 17, 2005 episode of RAW, James competed in her first WWE-televised match, a tag match with Ashley Massaro and Stratus against Victoria, Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson which ended when Victoria pinned James.

James took part in a “Fulfill Your Fantasy” Diva battle royal for the WWE Women’s Championship at Taboo Tuesday 2005, ensuring that Stratus would retain her title by sacrificing herself in order to eliminate Victoria. On the December 12, 2005 edition RAW Mickie James defeated Victoria to win a match against Stratus for the WWE Women’s Championship at New Years Revolution.

On the December 26, 2005 edition of “RAW” Mickie James shared an ‘intimate’ kiss with Trish Stratus under a mistletoe. The suprised Stratus, in disbelief, ran from the situation, stressing out James. During the next “RAW”, James would go as far as standing outside Trish’s shower complimenting on her “nice boobs”.

2006

At New Year’s Revolution on January 8, 2006, Mickie James faced Trish Stratus in a Women’s Championship match. She lost to Trish Stratus after she scored with the chick kick. At WWE Instant Access (after match web interwiews), Mickie got into Trish’s head by saying that it felt like silk when their skin touched. She seemed ecstatic, considering she just lost her match. The night after, Ashley Massaro won a WWE Women’s Championship match by disqualification after James interfered. She attacked Massaro again when she was knocked down from the apron by mistake, she also pushed Massaro during their entrance so she could be closer to Trish. Before their match, Mickie slapped Trish on the backside, which she claimed was “just for luck”.

In later weeks, Mickie would continue attacking Ashley Massaro during and before matches, leading to a match at the Royal Rumble with Trish Stratus as the special guest referee.

Naomi's mother is a sport psychologist and her brother has played tennis at county level and currently plays in America for North Carolina State University. Up to the age of 13 years old Naomi studied at Bromley High School before getting a tennis scholarship to Queenswood School in Hertfordshire. She has also studied at the highly prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida. Naomi has taken a course in journalism and creative writing and has expressed an interest in becoming a sports journalist when her tennis career is over.

Born 21 January 1983, in Kensington, New South Wales is an Australian professional tennis player. She is coached by Roger Federer's former coach, Tony Roche. Adamczak's favourite surface is grass.

Adamczak made her debut as a professional in 1998, aged 15, at a small ITF tournament in Lyneham. On her way to the quarter-finals she defeated Alicia Molik.

She won her first title in September 1999 at the ITF Jaipur in India, defeating home favourite Manisha Malhotra, 6–2, 2–6, 6–3. This event was played on grass. It was here that she also won her first doubles title, partnering with Jennifer Schmidt.

In recent years, Adamczak has been combining her entries in singles tournaments with more doubles events. In the early part of her career, she was focused almost solely on singles competition.

The Rock's Biography

Dwayne Douglas Johnson Was born May 2, 1972, also known by his ring name The Rock, is an American actor, professional wrestlerand philantropist currently signed with WWE, primarily featured on its Raw brand. He is often credited as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Johnson was a college football player. In 1991, he was part of the University of Miami's national championship team. He later played for theCalgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League, and was cut two months into the 1995 season. This led to his decision to become a professional wrestler like his grandfather, Peter Maivia, and his father, Rocky Johnson. He gained mainstream fame as a wrestler in World Wrestling Entertainment WWE, originally known as the World Wrestling Federation WWF, from 1996 to 2004, and was the first third-generation superstar in the company's history. Johnson was quickly given a push as a heroic character in the WWF, originally billed as "Rocky Maivia", and then as "The Rock". He would subsequently turn into a villain as a member of the Nation of Domination in 1997. Two years after he joined the WWF, Johnson won the WWF Championship, and became one of the most popular wrestlers within the company's history for his engaging interviews and promos.

Johnson won a total of sixteen championships in WWF/E. This included nine World Heavyweight Championships the WWF/E Championship seven times and the WCW World Championship twice, two WWF Intercontinental Championships, and five times as co-holder of the WWF Tag Team Championships. He was the sixth WWF/E Triple Crown Champion, and the winner of the 2000 Royal Rumble.

Johnson's autobiography co-written with Joe Layden, The Rock Says..., was released in 2000. It debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list, and remained on the list for several weeks. Johnson's first leading role as an actor was in The Scorpion King in 2002. For this film, he received the highest salary for an actor in his first starring role, earning $5.5 million. He has since appeared in several blockbuster movies such as The Rundown, Be Cool, Walking Tall, Gridiron Gang, The Game Plan, Get Smart, Race to Witch Mountain,Planet 51, Tooth Fairy, Doom, Why Did I Get Married Too?, The Other Guys, Faster, and most recently Fast Five starring opposite Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
