Doggie Postcard

Just came across these pictures from a trip we took to a very quiet little cottage in Berkeley Springs about three years ago. The owners were raising alpacas, and the first time we let Opie and Lucy off the leash they ran first to the alpaca enclosure and started to bark their heads off. They must've scared those poor alpacas witless!
After that we were careful never to let them go off-leash unless we were deep in the woods with no alpaca in sight.
Lucy, as you can see, is still four-legged here, and our beloved Freddie was still around. Good times.

Opie the trouble-seeker

We had a long power cut-- the third in as many months-- this past week. One guy in our house who loves power cuts is Opie. When it's dark in the house, he can see all the critters and people outside all the better. And bark!

When I'm not chewing the couch cushions and pulling stuff out of them, I just lie on them looking real cute!

Opie and his toys

Opie has a routine. Each night after he's had his dinner he will sit by the couch and demand that Desi give him a toy. He'll do this by pointing his head toward the closet where the toys are kept, or by scratching Desi until he gives in.

Once he's got a new toy, he'll run to a corner of the den, slide down slowly on his front legs, butt up in the air, then slowly slide his back legs down. After that he'll go ahead and tear into the eyes of the poor toy until they're both gone.

Now, it's time for another toy.

That's Pubm, my calico cat, trying to get someone to please let her into the house. Pubm is an indoor cat, but is allowed access to our tightly fenced yard and she loves nothing more than to go wandering out there, especially at night.

There's nothing Opie likes to do more than to play with a stuffed toy. His favorite are little teddy bears. He first goes for the eyes, and then proceeds to empty all the stuffing inside.
Strange, those dogs.

Unlike my food blog, Holy Cow!, this one's not meant to be a chatty blog but more of a visual blog. I wanted a space where I could use all those tons of pictures Desi and I take of our three dogs, Opie, Lucy and Freddie, and two cats, Pubm and Pie.
