This day in Literary History July 3 1908

"Mary Frances Kennedy Fisher is born on this day in Albion, Michigan.

Her father, a fourth-generation writer, purchased a newspaper in Whittier, California, where the family moved in 1911. In 1929, Fisher moved to France with her first husband, where she developed her twin passions: food and writing. She published her first story in 1934, using her initials to conceal her identity. In 1937, her first book, Serve It Forth, was published. She was highly productive for the next decade or so, producing nine books on food, including How to Cook a Wolf (1942) and The Gastronomic Me (1943)."

Hey all, I haven't put anything up here for awhile. I've been a bit busy, still writing new poetry. I'm hoping to put up some audio poetry this week, but in the meantime checkout this from the History Channel.

"Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawkings breaks British publishing records on this day in 1992. His book, A Brief History of Time, has been on the nonfiction bestseller list for three and a half years, selling more than 3 million copies in 22 languages.

A Brief History of Time explained the latest theories on the origins of the universe in language accessible to educated lay people. The book was made into an acclaimed documentary in 1992, which focused largely on Hawkings' own story."

"On this day in 1964, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signs into law the historic Civil Rights Act in a nationally televised ceremony at the White House.

In the landmark 1954 case Brown v. Board of Education, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation in schools was unconstitutional. The 10 years that followed saw great strides for the African-American civil rights movement, as non-violent demonstrations won thousands of supporters to the cause. Memorable landmarks in the struggle included the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955--sparked by the refusal of Alabama resident Rosa Parks to give up her seat on a city bus to a white woman--and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous "I have a dream" speech at a rally of hundreds of thousands in Washington, D.C., in 1963."

"Pilgrim stampede kills 1,400 A stampede of religious pilgrims in a pedestrian tunnel in Mecca leaves more than 1,400 people dead on this day in 1990. This was the most deadly of a series of incidents over 20 years affecting Muslims making the trip to Mecca. "

"On this day in 1910, the only existing negatives for many early Vitagraph films are destroyed by a fire in New York. Vitagraph, one of the first film studios, began shooting movies in 1897. The company flourished in the silent-film era, introducing future stars like Rudolph Valentino and Norma Talmadge. Warner Bros. purchased the company in 1925."

"On this day in 1934, Fox Film Corp. strikes a new contract with child star Shirley Temple. Temple was six years old at the time. Starting at age four, Temple starred in a series of shorts spoofing current movies, called Baby Burlesks, and appeared in bit parts. Her song and dance number "Baby Take a Bow" in the 1934 movie Stand Up and Cheer brought her wide acclaim. Her new contract with Fox raised her salary from $150 a week to $1,000 a week, plus a $35,000 bonus for each film she made. The contract also paid her mother $250 a week."

"On this day in 1955, long-running musical-variety program The Lawrence Welk Show debuts on ABC. Welk, a bandleader from North Dakota known for light dance music, had launched his own show in 1951 on a local Los Angeles channel. The show remained a network hit for some 16 years, then became a syndicated series. Welk retired in 1982 and died in 1992."

I brought this out of the Dream world as I awoke this afternoon. I will be talking more about this poem in an upcoming podcast. There is something deep
withing every human Soul
that radiates Light
greater then the Sun

Love and Respect
is what every life wants
in the greater scheme
its our greatest Hope

When we see as one,
Great Mystery we'll know.
When we work as one,
greater things we'll create.

There is only one Force
that flows through all life
it binds creation
to a greater light.

Everywhere the truth is found,
in every song, book, and movie,
its the one poem we all write
when we realize its truth.

The trees in the woods,
The rain on a Spring day,
The snow in Winter's night
reflections of the one truth.

That United we Stand,
and divided we die
to the greatest possibilities
that lay within all life.

If you want
true peace on Earth
and greater Understanding
to illuminate your very essence,

Look and see
the very truth

Powerless over our ways
Lives become unmanageable
Believe in a power
Restore our sanity
A decision made
to turn it over to
Soul's Awareness
fearless, moral inventory

Admitted to God's wholeness
The nature of our wrongs
We learn from
Our character's defects
Balence our shortcomings
With new and old successes
Make right with those we've harmed
And enter soul's wholeness
do no harm, to those around us
Search our souls
Admit when we're wrong
Prayer, Meditation, Soul's wholeness
Improve our conscious contact
And the knowledge

Hey everyone, I have some inspirational exerpts from the book

"The Freedom Writers' Diary". I saw this movie back in January 2007.

I loved it and bought the book afterwards. It's based on a true story.

I had a teacher that truly inspired me and helped create my love for the

written word. Have you had a teacher or someone that has inspired you,

and perhaps that lead you to what you are doing now? Have you given

back and have become that inspiration for someone in your life?

Too many choices or not many choices

I've been listening to a few podcasts talk about the problem of not being able to keep up on all the pieces of information we all have to monitor.

There are a few misconceptions people have. First in listening to podcasts they've subscribed to, second in reading newsletters, and third in watching shows on cable. People have this idea that if a podcast, newsletter, or show comes out on a regular basis like once a week they have to watch or read it every week. But RSS, subsciption services, Tivo, VCRs, DVD recorders let us watch and read the shows on our scedules when we feel like it.

I'm subscribed to many podcasts. I lost count after 150.

I check out a few forums and groups on the Internet.

I listen to audio books and podiobooks.

I watch cable, movies, and read.

I don't do all of this everyday or every week. I like variety. So sometimes I listen to podcasts, sometimes cable, movies, reading a book, an article or magazine. Sometimes I listen to audio books and sometimes podiobooks. Sometimes I even play Cubis Gold ( my latest addition ). And many times, I watch videos all night on You Tube.

So what's my point. Would you want fewer choices and get bored with nothing else to do or have many choices to learn about yourself and the world around you. In this new age we are living, we need to learn to balance. Balance in our work, home, schooling, and play. And if we can do this, I believe the stress level in society will go down because we would enjoy the fullness in life.

Hey everyone, I haven't done this exercise yet.

How to write a poem about your life

1. Write about your life in hundred words or less

2. Look for themes

3. Write a stanza for each theme

4. Read the stanzas and place them in order. Then write an introduction and ending stanza. Link the introduction and ending stanza.

5. Rewrite the piece in the poem format you choose and title it.

that I came up with to help
you to come up with some cool
writing projects

Ideas for writing

1. writing a journal as if you live in a historic era

2. write a story about the journey food takes in the body

3. create a world and write a journal as if you're someone in that
world ( universe ).

4. How would you change an advertisment in today's media? Make your own advertisment

5. write your own fictional news story. Be as silly or serious as you want.

6. create your own monster and write instructions as to how you created it. Do the same for angels, aliens, gnomes, elves, or a different type of Earth being.

7. Create your own type of buildings. Be as outragious as you want. Then, write instructions as to how you created it.

8. Create your own planet, star, Universe and write instructions as to how you created them.

9. Take a picture and write a poem, story, lyric, or prose about it. The picture can be something you've taken or a picture that you do not know the story behind it.

10. Pick a small or one item ( Garbage can, desk, book, street, etc... ) and write a poem, article, story, lyric, or prose. Use free writing in this exercise. Free writing is just the flow of consciousness. You're just following where your thoughts go. Don't worry about editing. You can always edit after the piece is done.
