Duke Nukem Forever Jon St. John Autograph

At this years Penny Arcade Expo I managed to play Duke Nukem Forever and get the autograph of Jon St. John the voice actor behind the legendary voice. I managed to snag this video of the person after me getting his autograph.

When I got mine I told him I want to be a voice actor someday and my dream is to do movie trailer voices, he said "Hey, thats my dream too" and then went into doing the clasic "In a world beyond your imagination...".

Halo: Reach Merchandise for the Halomaniac.

Another Halo game is due out in less then a few weeks and as any Halo fan should know by now that also means that tons of Halo related merchandise will be released as well. If you want the latest Halo item, your best bet is most likely Gamestop; as they have already started their Halo: Reach marketing blitz. For those of you that want to spend your hard earned money in these tough economic times on Halo stuff, this is what you can expect to see:

Halo: Reach Wireless Headset

Why bother getting yelled at by an 11 year old with your old wired headset on Xbox Live, when you can do it wirelessly? Your already playing Halo, so you might as well have the branded headset to match! This headset doesn’t improve upon the already released Wireless Headset for the 360, but it does let everyone know you prefer a nice silver look to your mic compared to the plain white one.

This headset will set you back $49.99 and is available at any major video game retailer.

Why I won’t be buying it: I almost did actually, but my Halo 3 headset still works great…when I remember to charge the batteries.

Halo: Reach Wireless Controller

If the Halo 3 limited edition Wireless Controllers wasn’t your thing due to the McFarlane artwork plastered all over it, then this new Halo branded controller might be for you.

The cost to pick up this bad boy: $59.99

Why I won’t be buying it: Why would I buy a controller that is essentially going to be obsolete in two months because of the new revamped controller that Microsoft is releasing? I might consider it at a lower price point, but the color scheme isn’t going to make me run out and buy it for that reason alone. Your mileage may vary.

Halo: Reach figures (McFarlane Toys)

Yes, McFarlane Toys still owns the license to make Halo figures and rightfully so. They’ve done a great job on replicating the Halo Universe in a collectable toy format that is properly suited to the game. Many of the Reach figures are already out at your local Gamestop store at the time of this writing, most of them are priced at $18.95.

McFarlane Toys has also released full figure scale vehicles to relive your favorite Halo battles. I’m sure that these will sell far better then McFarlane’s first attempt at making vehicles based on the Halo universe now that they have an actual use with their figure line.

Why I will try really, really (really) hard not to buy them : $18.95 is pretty high for an action figure at that size and scale and the price point for these figures seem to go higher and higher every time a new Halo game is released. I honestly stopped colleting these figures after the 3rd series of Halo 3 figures, mostly because McFarlane just kept churning out Spartan armor variants. The full size vehicles are quite a temptation for me and it wouldn’t surprise me if I end up buying one… IF I bump into one.

Halo: Reach Xbox 360 Limited Edition Console.

If your looking to buy a brand new slim edition of the Xbox 360, want Halo Reach, larger hard drive, two limited edition controllers and don’t care about the limited edition version of Reach then this is a no brainer. The fact that the 360 is now sporting a built in WI-FI adaptor is also an added touch to those who don’t want to run a network cable to their living room. The console also sports its own custom Halo inspired sounds when the console is turned on, which is a nice touch.

Priced at $399.99, this is a not a bad deal for those who are looking to upgrade from their older 360’s or newcomers to the system itself. Sure, it doesn’t have a Blu-Ray player, but it does have quite an awesome selection of games that can be had for cheap.

Why I won’t be buying it: If I didn’t already have two 360’s, I actually would. The slim 360 is really slick looking and as Halo fan, I wouldn’t mind having the limited edition console. I would most likely end up selling the copy of Reach though and putting that towards the Legendary edition.

The Ultimate edition of Halo: Reach for Halo fans is pretty awesome and manages to usurp the awesomeness that the Halo 3 Legendary edition was in terms of package design. The limited edition will cost you $149.99.

Why I WILL be buying it: As an ex-Halo collecting merchandise addict, this Legendary edition comes with everything that will satisfy my old Halo itch, the Noble Team statue is an awesome touch and will look great in my game room. It also focuses on what makes the Halo universe fun for me in the first place: The game. As a beta tester, I was pretty impressed with Reach and didn’t expect to be; especially after being so disappointed with ODST. Needless to say, I pre-ordered mine after playing a good amount of the beta.

Halo Uprising #4 review.

After almost a year of delays, Halo Uprising #4 has finally hit store shelves. Who would of thought that a comic series with the Halo name stamped on it would suffer so many delays and after all this time, such a lackluster finish…

Halo Uprising is a four issue mini series that was suppose to bridge the gap between Halo 2 and Halo 3 and give Halo players some insight on what was going on during that period. What we get is a sappy love story about about a coward and a pop singer and a key that could change to face of the universe. The big plot shock: that key turns out to never exist in the first place. Oh yeah, the comic also has a few panels of Master Chief kicking ass, we have to have those.

Issue 4 kicks off with more sappy love story crap,a high-ranking official yelling at the coward, the coward taking a dangerous mission and in the end blowing a covenant ship to holy hell. If this sounds even remotely interesting, its not. The artwork itself is pretty cool, but the story just pretty much falls flat on its face. For a comic mini-series that ran for two years and only produced four issues, there’s no excuse that there wasn’t enough time to make this thing awesome. Most Halo fans should skip it unless they lack the final piece of the puzzle to a let down of a series.

Issues 4 rating: 1 out of 5 stars.

At the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo there was a Destroy All Humans! mascot running around giving away these sweet bobble-heads if you took a picture with the mascot and showed him proof on your digital camera. Well guess what, I never got one. But I did take a picture of him.

VIDEO GAME CONVENTION TO BE HELD FOR CHARITY

Gamers Outreach Foundation hosts its second annual 'Gamers for Giving' event.Saline, MI (January 23, 2009) - From February 27th to March 1st, 2009, video gamers from across the country will convene at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center to participate in Michigan's largest annual video game convention, Gamers for Giving.

Two years ago, public safety officials from Washtenaw County canceled a Halo 2 tournament planned by 11th grade Saline High School student Zach Wigal. Claiming the game was "...corrupting the minds of America's youth," the public safety officials convinced high school administrators the event was a hazard to public safety. Wigal, who had spent 3 months planning the event, made plans to host a new Halo tournament to raise money for charity. Illustrating the positive impact video games could make on the lives of individuals, Wigal, and fellow high-school friends, hosted a new tournament called 'Gamers for Giving.'

The event was an incredible success. Over 600 participants and spectators attended, and gross revenue from the event totaled more than $15,000.00. Profits were donated to a local chapter of the Autism Society of America.Wigal went on to form Gamers Outreach Foundation, a non-profit organization that utilizes video games for charity purposes and community projects.

The foundation is preparing for its second annual fundraising event, 'Gamers for Giving 2009,' which has become the largest video game convention in the state of Michigan. The three-day non-stop event will jumpstart several community programs being launched by Gamers Outreach Foundation in 2009.Event activities include a 2vs2 Halo 3 tournament, with a $1,000.00 cash prize, a 300-person LAN party, (an event that allows participants to play video games with one another via a "Local Area Network") and a number of other gaming activities.With attendance expected to exceed 1,000 individuals, Gamers for Giving provides a fun and interactive involvement opportunity to individuals who are interested in helping their community.

Being Master Chief for Halloween.

With the popularity of the Halo franchise, its no surprise that many official products have been made for it. We've seen many unofficial creations of Spartan armor and due to the fact that its Halloween, it would be a perfect time to be the Master Chief. Rubies has gone ahead and picked up the license to make Halo suits and has offered a few different varieties of them. Mine happens to be the standard version, which retails for about $60.00 bucks. It includes the complete jump suit and a two piece helmet.

So how does the suit stack up? Pretty nicely. While It does fit pretty nicely, I recommend hanging it up for awhile so the material and the plastic can loosen up from being so tightly stored in the bag. The helmet is pretty nice and you can see through the visor easily. The two piece helmet attaches with the included Velcro and looks quite good.

This is strictly for Halloween or costume events though. As it would not handle the wear and tear of using it every day. For what ever reason you would wear it everyday I don't know, but you know...just in case.

Overall, I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Its a decent costume, but I still think its a little expensive. Not bad.

Halo Plasma Sword by Master Replica's in action.

Master Replica's has put up a demonstration video of their new replica Halo Plasma Sword on Youtube. They seem pretty damn cool, but come with a hefty price tag of $200.00 bucks. Also, you will notice that it doesn't have the pointy edges like the actual Plasma Sword does. Jasman Toys was going to release a Plasma Sword for its Halo Laser Tag set, but due to the sharp edges and other things; stopped production on them.

I do think its pretty cool, but how many of you would pick it up for $200.00? I may have to pass.
