From here on I'll be concentrating on what can be done to bring people to your door, what will make them stick, what makes them buy and what makes businesses become 'Fail Proof'or to put it another way, in a static or stagnant success mode. What could be more uncomfortable. Being stuck in success and not being able to break free.....

We all know there is no magic formular except one

DON'T STOP, DON'T EVEN WAVER.

Never ever take your eye off the goal. Don't just look at it............DO IT. DAY IN, DAY OUT. EVERY MORNING HIT THE FLOOR RUNNING....

...AND that means every evening, plan a full day for tomorrow..... then do it.

Y'know, I can write pages & pages along those lines, but seriously, it's a bloody waste of time if all you do is read it. So if you've read it. Then my job is done. It's no good repeating it again. Every one of you have what it takes and you've just read exactly what the formular is. So what the #### are you waiting for?

Every one has read what is needed:

Find or develop you product, get a website, set it up, promote, promote, promote.

So from here on, each issue, we just talk about ways to do just that:

1. Electronic Catalogue promotion

Generate a catalogue of products or services in PDF or e-book form. Offer the catalogue away for free to your Blog or web site visitors. Search for other website owners that are not directly competing with your business, if they would consider adding their products or services to the catalogue. Then you can ask that in return they link to your web site, run your promotional ad in their e-zine or place your banner ad on their web site for a set period of time. You could ask them to also give away the free catalogue because you would already have your ad(s) in the catalogue. Since you created and compiled the catalogue place your ad or sponsor ad at the top or title page of the catalogue. This technique will quickly multiply your advertising.

2. Online Community Marketing

Develop a trendy online discussion board. Reward visitors points for each message they post on your board.

As an example you could reward each person 50 points for each posting. You could give them a free E-book for 1200 points which would add up to 24 postings on your board just from that one person. Just keep track of points for each person that posts on your message board. This should also work really well for e-mail discussion lists. Just post your promotional material at the top of your discussion board page.

Everyone that visits your discussion board will see your ad.

3. Radio Badge

You’ve seen this already on my blog. If you take the Blog Talk Radio badge from there and put it on your site or blog, whenever someone has a listen and finds it interesting they will want to make sure they can come back to hear next week’s show.

Then you can encourage them to put the badge on their site for the same reason etc. etc.

Obviously this helps me, you, your visitors and it costs us nothing but it helps to keep our visitors.

O.K. That's another week. Have a smashing Christmas.

See you on the other side of the Tree.

Peace and Prosperity

Bruce

O.K. I've talked about Starting a Blog, But let's have a reality check...

You want to get serious about your Blog?

You want to BUILD your Blog?

You seriously want it to be noticed, to stand out, to be recognised...

TO BE A SUCCESS STORY....

THIS IS THE BIT THAT IS GOING TO HURT.

Because it's not the blog that is always at fault. (there was a TV show a long time ago by this name) 'IT COULD BE YOU'.

Despite all the garbage that is on the net about 6 figure incomes, getting rich in 11 seconds, you could own this 16 bedroom mansion before you finish reading this..

Nobody gets rich overnight. The facts are, all the six figure incomes come to guys after they have spent several years on-line doggedly working on their systems until they finally work it up to a success.

I've even seen stuff on here where it's been claimed that a guy started from nothing and in one week he had a thriving business. What he didn't reveal was that he had done it before and had the resources at his disposal to duplicate those previous efforts.

So what am I saying here, don't believe anything on the net. Including me. Prove it (beyond all doubt) first. Then recognize a simple sensible fact. To make it happen you, I'll repeat that, YOU have to sacrifice all of your time and effort online and focus TOTALLY on the venture.

Let's take a look at what I'm trying to say here....

NO GAMES
NO SURFING
VERY LITTLE SEARCHES
NO READING EVERY DUMB PROMISE
SIMPLY DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT IS WASTING TIME OR IS NOT PRODUCTIVE

Now hang on a minute Bruce, that makes it work...

Yeah, that's what they call work these days. If you want to make money or you want to build a site or a blog, you work.

Are you getting the picture. Either it's a business that takes all your time and all your commitment or it's a failure.

OK, do I know what I'm talking about. Well I've been on the net and into computers for over twenty years so I have seen enough to know that if my guard goes down for a minute I'll get sucked into reading something in my in-box that pricks my attention (because that's what it's supposed to do). Then within a couple of minutes I'm looking at another grab page that tells a different story with the same old sting in the tail.

This is why we have recycle bins and thank God they are easy to empty.

But meanwhile I have wasted more time than I can afford. My time and what's worse, more of my dream chipped at by rubbish because it was time that should have been used to drive my business in an upward direction.

So what I feel I need to do with upcoming blogs is list every possible thing I can think of that needs your and my 100% attention. Things that if you don't do, you might as well stop now and save yourself HEAPS OF FRUSTRATION.

Y'ALL COME BACK NOW.

Bruce

P.S. Why not sign up so you don't miss out. Makes sense to me.

Hey the answer is absolutely yes
Or, what the hell is next....

The big thing that has hit me as I caress the keys of the lappy is, if you are going to set up a blog for dropping some snapshots of the kids growing up into it, so that Aunt Emma and Mrs MacGillicuddy and the locals at the pub can say how cute they were when they were little. Go for it - there is no real need for advice beyond what's already available at Google.

If you want to grow your Blog to any extent, you need to deal with your Blog as if it is a Business.

So you need to put together a complete list that covers every avenue or opportunity that you can think of that you can tap into, that will help you to encourage people to start viewing your Blog. Then you need to put together a series of different docs, letters, notes, memos, emails, little paragraphs that can be used in as many positive ways as possible to promote the Blog.

Even though I am not after money, I do want people to come and enjoy my Blog and I do want people to find it interesting and different and just a bit funny and written in a way that they will learn something from it EVERY TIME they visit. So the Blog has to match all those bits of paper I wrote about in the last paragraph. Otherwise people will poke their nose in, read, get disapointed and run.

At this point it's worth stating AND THAT's THE LAST YOU'LL SEE OF THEM. So we all need to make sure that our blogs are original, different, interesting and they contain some sort of learning curve.

Picture this, You have reached the end of an email from me and you get:

I wish you peace and Happiness

Bruce Miller

P.S. I do so hope I have been of help. If so, can I suggest you have a look at my two sites because I believe they could be of benefit to You also.

Here they are:

http://theyellowblogroad.blogspot.com/

http://mysteriousforces.blogspot.com/

Thank you
B.

I didn't offend any one, I wasn't pushy, afterall it is only a tag on the end but I have had really great responses from these things.

In addition both of my autoresponders (Mail.com and Yahoo.com and they are free) have an almost identical note. It goes:

Thank you so much for your email. I will get to it as soon as possible. Meanwhile may I suggest that you have a look......Blah Blah

So all the rubbish that comes along gets a reply with a sting in the tail so to speak.

And of course I'm doing it again. Just for you, and just in case you didn't know about my other Blog, now you have the detail and by doing it this way I'm not offending you.

OK I've just been told I spend too much time in front of the Lappy So I wish you...
Peace and Happiness again.

Bruce Miller

Blogging: Where to Start

I can't tell you what is the definitive way to go about this, but I can tell you what works for me.

One thing I need to point out is, what I've learned is from others on the net plus what I've stumbled on by accident. So here we go.

1> Set your goals. How many blog issues are you prepared to commit to, in other words how often will you be putting your new gems update online. Apart from a death in the family (or your own), how strong is your commitment. The people who commit to reading these gems of yours are wanting to see them regularly. It doesn't matter if Regular means once a day or once a quarter. If you say it, DO IT - EVERY TIME. Show your 'loyals' that you are loyal to them as well. So in the beginning be careful that you don't promise what could turn into an unacceptably heavy commitment.

2> This leads to the next point. The reason you are blogging. Unless you are a professional, in other words this is your business, or you work for a paper or something similar, You need to be able to HONESTLY say at the end of your day "That was Great, I thoroughly enjoyed working on that Blog for the last ____ Hours and now I can't wait till I can start on the next one. There are two things that will see you through. One I have been mentioning which is commitment the second is discipline. It can take an awful lot out of you meeting those deadlines day after day, week after week. Coming up with the goods Every Time, on time with nothing allowed to distract you.

3> "I'm certain by the time Christmas comes I'll have the Blog showing a profit....."
Sounds good.... Do you know there are people who have been blogging for many months who haven't had their first comment about the blog, let along a follower.
But do not fret we are going to change that. Stay tuned....

4> Obviously I don't know what you are wanting to have as your topic. But I do know it needs to be your passion. Something you think about regularly nay almost constantly. Something that you feel that you eat, sleep and breath. Are you getting the picture yet. You need to have as your main topic something you really, really enjoy. Also, you have to be willing to spend hours studying and writing in your own words in an understandable style the information you want to convey.

5> Based on what I have been observing (and in case you are wondering, I constructed my first computer in 1984 and have been an avid computer freak ever since) you can expect to possibly work on your Blog for up to three or four years before you will have something that you feel is a successful BLOG. So PATIENCE is the first key word followed by PERSEVERANCE and finally make every page a PEARL.

So earlier I wrote "stay tuned"... OK before I started my blog I was using Google Alerts to improve my knowledge on several subjects. When I started blogging I wanted people to start looking at my blog, funny about that. So I started going to the blogs that broadly covered the area that my blog addressed and writing good comments about their blogs if I felt I could do this honestly. I then found they were coming to my blog and doing the same thing so then I started to be a follower of their blog as well as a commenter and guess what, they were doing the same thing for me and then.....

Easy? No it takes a lot of time and a lot of work.

WORTH IT? You bet it is.

Hi and welcome.

Upon reflection, I have come to realize that the Blog name 'The Yellow Blog Road' is far more appropriate to discussions about Blogging rather than Reiki. Therefore I feel it is in the best interest of the blog that this is the direction that it should follow. So in future The Yellow Blog Road will be focused along those lines and another Blog 'Mysterious Forces’ will be initiated that will be aimed at the subject of Reiki and other similar alternative options and discussion areas.

One thing that is clear, well sort of, there are many types of Bloggs but in my mind they seem to fall into three main streams:

    * Information 'A', which consists of various NEWS outlets
    * Information 'B' the likes of which include all the different topics that cover virtually any known subject.
    * Sales; People having a business or product they are trying to promote.

The interesting thing is, there is not a lot of difference in the basic goals getting read, getting a following and building a sustainable Blog. So, there is also not a lot of difference in the basic requirements needed to be put in place to achieve a degree of success when wanting to promote these blogs.

However there are all sorts of variations because of what is available for the blog that is being supplied by particular blogging providers. The range of page designs and the array of plug-ins etc. that are available, vary greatly.

Apart from that, there are similarities that we can focus on that will give us ample opportunities to uncover ways of promoting and therefore expanding our particular Blogs. Later we will incorporate into the equasion specific plug-ins that are available.

GETTING NOTICED

As I write this there are already millions of blogs on line and there is no sign of the growth rate slowing. So what do we need to do to get noticed?

In a nutshell, we need to do EVERYTHING, and then we need to do it to the best of our ability leaving no stone unturned as we tap people on the shoulder and invite them to partake of our little gems.

Obviously we need our writings to be 'Little Gems' otherwise we will not hold a soul. So 'originality, specialty, different and better' are the standards that we need to strive for EVERY TIME we work on our 'little gem'. For the starter blogger that could mean SEVERAL DAYS WRITING our blog, followed by a break away from it and I'd recommend 3 to 4 days for that break, then come back and discover all your imperfections, mistakes and missing bits and I'll guarantee there will be quite a few.

Don't forget your grammar and spelling need to be perfect. Nothing turns people away like mistakes here. People don't have faith in writers who can't get the fundamentals right.

Ideally, getting someone else to do your proof reading is the preferred way, but not always practical. This is why you need to walk away from your work for a while so that when you come back to it again, it is fresh to your mind and this gives you a feeling of detachment that will allow you to recognise more errors in your work, and correct them.

Once you have been at it a while (and you'll know when the time is right) your confidence and ability to edit as you write, will allow you to re-evaluate the process needed.

Remember there is always opportunities to comment about this blog and I would appreciate any offer of assistance.

But for now I wish you more power to you writing.
Taking in too much information.

There is a vast amount of information (and a degree of misinformation) regarding Reiki as with any other subject. I'm afraid I have been guilty of allowing myself and my laptop to be totally overwhelmed with information. Now although this would appear to be an ideal that should be followed, in reality there is a line that needs to be drawn. Really two lines. One to disallow too much and another to define and stay within certain limits, the types of information that is 'horded'.

The problem is, one can only read and absorb so much. Beyond that point information becomes either wasted or a cause of confusion. Neither of which is of benefit.

So I have decided to only read one book or paper at a time and always take notes to help me to focus on the important issues that are raised. I'm afraid I now only read 3 blogs on any issue that I'm interested in these days.

In fact there are two Blogs that take precedence and these get my utmost attention.

2. Just reading through things once, and now once more.

There is a song about the second time around and it certainly applies to reading. I used to sometimes struggle with certain books. Now I toss those in the give away bin and reread a more interesting one Because I can. Any direct action I can take to improve My Personal Learning Curve is an improvement over struggling with a book that doesn't cut the mustard.

3. Information. Got it, read it, that's it Brucie , well done.... No not really

3a. That was THE START. Next what do I do with it. and because of the situation in the first paragraph I was quite OK with the idea of I must be on the right track because I read the book. Put it into action try some of it? Nah to busy reading more books. So it was like a scatter gun a few bits hit the mark, but most went sailing past all around me.

3b. Let's look at that scatter gun next. This was how I would talk to people about Reiki or any other associated wellness subject. I became a record player. I had developed a form of patter that had no room for the listeners ability to comprehend. I had to learn how to use associations and start applying analogies to my explanations. As I did above by including the scatter gun. A mental picture is equally as good as a thousand words.

3c. A little aside, I just used the phrase - the listeners ability to comprehend - No that should read - the hearers ability to comprehend - They were lucky if they heard half of what I was wanting to convey, so there was little to no chance of them listening intently to the message and gaining from it.

So how did Reiki help?

If it hadn't been for Reiki
I wouldn't have been doing
and reading
and learning
and remembering
and feeling more confident
and growing
and passing on
and writing
and teaching
and getting feedback
and finding out that people loved what I do
and how I do it
and my motivation.
and me feeling just a little bit satisfied

I Love Reiki (Have I said that before...???)

Finally:

My wish is for you to always travel in Love and Light

Bruce

P.S. A little bonus for you:

How Long is a Metre?

Now that sounds easy enough, a quick look in The Encarta Dictionary gives us the following:

A Metre is the basic SI unit of length, equivalent to approximately 1.094 yd or 39.37 in.

However that’s not really answering the question.

So what really establishes A METRE

It was important that the base measurement be replicable by anyone in the world, so eventually the French Academy of Sciences decided on one ten-millionth of the distance from the North Pole to the equator. Oh yes and for accuracy that line had to go through Paris because all of this was being orchestrated and defined by the French Academy of Sciences.

In 1775, a one meter-long brass bar was constructed, replaced with a platinum one in 1799, then finally a platinum-iridium version in 1889. Here comes another - Oh Yes, this measurement had to be made while the metal bar was at exactly the melting point of ice. In fact the quote from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metre) goes as follows:

The eleventh CGPM (Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures)in 1960 defined the metre in the new SI system as equal to 1,650,763.73 wavelengths of the orange-red emission line in the electromagnetic spectrum of the krypton-86 atom in a vacuum.

Yep, just think, we knew what iridium and Supermans' Krypton was, back that long ago.

To allow for greater precision, the definition, (not the length) of one meter has changed a few times.

Since 1983, a meter has been defined by the length traveled by light in vacuum during 1⁄299,792,458 of a second.

Get your thinking gear around that lot. Like seriously, how would you measure that one. I know, someone is going to tell me (Kodak Brownie anybody?)..... OK smarty the floor is yours? You pick the subject I'll decide on the space...

I'm not going to try to cover every school of thought here regarding Reiki, rather I'd like to give an overview from my position and I need to make clear at the outset that every branch of Reiki has their individual methods and beliefs.

As a person practicing Reiki on a daily basis I have some reservations about much of the information on Reiki that can be found online. However I do recognise that all or most practitioners are going about Reiki with the utmost good intent and I have proven over and over again that Reiki is both extremely forgiving and flexible and well it needs to be. Fortunately Reiki thrives within or on intent. If your heart, mind, body, purpose and intent are fully focused and you can feel the power of Reiki welling up within you, Reiki will do the rest. It seems to go something like.... If you believe – If you Know deep within you... then “It Is” and I tell you that makes Reiki pretty darn powerful.

Reiki 霊気to my knowledge is the simplest form of self development and healing in existence (apart from doing absolutely nothing). So then how is Reiki so powerful, so effective and yes, so able to recognise the need and then as if on auto pilot, go to the source of the problem and deal with it with such effect?

Well my answer is, the accepted founder of Reiki – Dr Mikao Usui – attuned himself to the energy of Reiki. This man in his long, determined and desperate search was introduced to what we all now recognise as the Universal Life Force by whom? Well that is where we all need to put the answer that suits our individual understanding or beliefs. That is if it really needs answering because what we need to focus on is not where Reiki came from, but rather how we can use it to its full potential so that we can better be used by Reiki to improve the lives of those around us as well as ourselves.

In my next blog I intend to uncover some examples of how Reiki has covered over a few of my blunders for me. Oh how I love the wonder that is Reiki.

Until next time...

I wish you Love and peace

Bruce
