Well it never fails, my busy schedule has limited my time for blogging. I wish I could just do projects and blog ALL day. Unfortunately I can't! It feels so bad to say, but I haven't done a single project in months!! :(
Hopefully that will change by summer time. So here's whats going on in my little life...

I went to the most AWESOME concert

Me & my best friend/cousin (you can be both by the way ;) ), Alex, went to the Winter Jam 2011 in Little Rock! It is a Christian Rock Tour that travels around. It was so amazing. We had the best time listening to our favorite artists, since we are both die hard Christian Rock fans. You can find dates for Winter Jam and other christian concerts at air1.com

'The Boys' turned one!

My nephews turned 1! I can't believe a year ago their mommas some how managed to both go into labor within hours of each other & have these sweet boys in the same hospital!! :) They have definitely stolen my heart.

We went on a CRUISE! :)

It was the most amazing vacation I've ever been on. We went to Jamaica, Caymen Islands, and Cozumel Mexico. It was a 7 day cruise so by day 5 I was ready to be back to the good ol' south. And back to Mexican food for sure ;)

School...

Remember this excited, full of energy freshman that you seen in earlier posts?? She is gone! & this extremely worn out girl is here. I am ready to get these last few weeks of classes over with so I can take a little break before I hit the books again this summer. Needless to say, this time next year I will officially be in the RN program :) ahh I will be SO happy when I am finally there! :D

That's right I am officially a Scentsy consultant. I think it was a great decision, because to me it isn't a job it's just a hobby that happens to bring in a little extra cash. 2.The Altima

It took me awhile to think of what my #2 would be. But then I remembered it's our top two favorite things of the year. And my car is definitely one of my top favorite things of this year!! I got it right before graduation when a unfortunate deer was ran over by my other car..

I guess all things happen for a reason. I knew for a very long time a wanted.needed.had to have this car! My favorite part is the back, its just so classy&sporty at the same time. I keep it extremely clean on the inside...the outside not so much since I live on a stupid dirt road. I still haven't got the windows tinted yet, but I'm taking really good care of my "baby". My favorite part is, it's MINE! I pay the bill every month & I actually own something :)

How to make a tinsel tree

Here's what you need

1. tinsel (1 pk is plenty)

2. party hat

3. hot glue gun

4. scissors

I just used stuff I had around the house. I thought the party hat would work perfect & i was just going to throw it out anyways.

I cut the ruffles off the bottom & started hot gluing the tinsel from the seem.

I added another layer all the way up since you could still see a little bit of the pink & I wanted it to have a fuller look. It turned out really cute and only took a few minutes.

& here is the finished product! I love it, and it beats paying like $5 when I made if for FREE! :)

Mesh Christmas tree topper

When I posted about our Chirstmas decor I mentioned I made our tree topper from floral deco-mesh, and said I would post on how to do it. So here's what you need:

Deco-mesh (we got our green from Sam's, and this one from Canton), pipe cleaners (or something to tie with), & we also got some pretty floral glittery things to stick in the bow.

I didn' get pictures of me actually making the bow, & I am sorry for that. But its not hard to explain...

1. roll out mesh ad choose a length. I honestly don't remember how much I used but it doesn't take much. (but don't cut the mesh off bc its easier to leave the roll attached. you'll understand later.)

2. fold the mesh from the outside in, making big loops, its just like making a hair bow only much bigger. I made two loops for each side just to add thickness.

3. then you gather the middle and tie it.

4. you should still have the roll of mesh attached. Use it to create a center for the bow. Bring the extra to the back, tie, and cut.

5. I also added streamers going down the tree that I made separately and then tied to the bow just to keep it together.

6. lastly add your little pretty stems just to add some fun!

It's Christmas already

When we got home from Canton we finished decorating for Christmas. I can't believe it's that time already.
I just love taking pics of all the decorations. There's just something magical about Christmas.

I just added a few things to my room...

I got that peppermint ball from a beautiful shop in Canton. I got two of them, but I couldn't upload the pics of the other one...

& here's the living room...

I'm going to do a post on how to make the bow for the top of the tree tomorrow.

I just hope this CHRISTmas everyone can remember the real reason for Christmas. It's not about the presents or Santa clause. It's not about decorating, shopping, or Christmas dinner. It's all about the birth of Jesus. Without this day we wouldn't have had a savior.

Second trip to Canton, TX

We made our second trip to Canton, TX last weekend to get our new English bulldog!
I only got a few pics once again bc I was too busy looking at all the great stuff.

Now for the few pics I got...

I'm going to make some small wreaths like this Saturday.

So...if you've never been to Canton here are a few tips.

1. You HAVE to go at least once! It's amazing shopping you just can't get anywhere else.

2. Do NOT use the restrooms there. It's disgusting id advise you to stop before you get there and not drink to much, haha!
3. Go during the fall. There's more people, but the weather makes a big difference. Plus all the Christmas stuff is for sale and there is a huge selection!
4. Don't be afraid to eat at the food court there, we ate at the Baked Potato. It was SO good.
5. The obvious; where comfortable shoes, take cash, and have something to put all your goodies in.

I am so upset that I neglect my blog so badly. I honestly do love to blog and do all my crafting stuff, but I have ZERO time to do it. Since I gave myself a break from my 5 page med term paper I decided to catch you up....
So....Since Oct. 23 lots has happened...

I FINALLY turned 18! :)

My family surprised me with cheese cake, a birthday hat & pen, & presents before we went on a trip to the casino since in OK I am now legal to gamble lol! But don't worry I wont be wasting any of my money anytime soon ;)

I celebrated Halloween with this cute little 'busy bee'!

It just so happens my birthday is the day before Halloween so we got to see the kids before they went trick-or-treating. (ps. look at my beautiful car in the background, ahh I love her!)

I hosted a gorgeous wedding shower!

It was Italian themed so we had lots of pasta, bread sticks, salad, cream soda, cannolis (sent in from Dallas), and a lemon creme cake from Olive Garden. The first pic is the bride's table with pics of the couple...I loved how it turned out! The dessert table was pretty cute too. & lastly the food table. I didn't get anymore pics but the other tables but they were cute too, & she got some good stuff.

Who just so happens to be getting a new baby brother (dog of course) on Dec. 4th!! We can't wait to go back to Canton, TX...& do a little Christmas shopping while we're there :) eeek!! :)

Haha, I got my hair cut

& some darker color. I like being dark brown but i can't bother with it during the summer bc that darn sun will turn it right back! Also please excuse my nasty room...that's another thing I have a hard time finding time to do.

Where have I been??

So...I've been SUPER busy! Goin to school full time & working full time is kickin my butt! I haven't been working on any projects either & it's killin me. But, I was off today so I went and got the iPhone 4! It's amazing...I love it! & now that I can blog from my phone I'll be doin it a lot more! Also I'm planning a wedding shower so I'll have lots to blog about. Ok time to download more apps ;)

So, i mod podged a lamp..shade!

Allow me to introduce my $2 lamp from my favorite junk store! I've been thinking about getting it for a few wks but i wasn't sure if I needed it...obviously I do ;)

I really don't know whats up with the tape around it edges. But when i took it off the shade was perfectly normal, so maybe they were trying to keep it from getting messed up?

Anyways I decided to paint to base blue...

Then i thought all afternoon about what to do with the shade. I was itching to do a project & i definitely wanted to finish this lamp in one day. So i got the bright idea to use some pretty wrapping paper i got on sale at Target & just mod podge the shade, crazy i know!

I keep forgetting to get some foam brushes so I've been using this foam roller every time i mod podge & it is a pain! But anyways i poured some on a paper plate and rolled it on my shade, doing one section at a time. (mod podge can be a serious mess so its best to do a little at a time) Then I laid the paper down, i wasn't careful about wrinkles because when i was done i gave it a distressed worn look (you can't tell in the pictures) I rolled the top coat of mod podge. I trimmed the edges and let it dry over night.

Ta-Da!!! I need to put some trim around the edges, but i didn't have any I liked at the house so that will have to wait. You may have noticed the base isn't blue...I changed my mind after I had it painted my Ocean Breeze, so i went over it with the cheap-o white kind. I love it :)

I'm not going to lie it was hard to maneuver the paper on the shade the way I wanted but it's holding up really good & it looks like a real shade!

Where do creative ideas come from?

I don't have any projects to show you guys today. Mostly because I'm super busy, and since I haven't found a CNA job yet I've made myself promise not to spend money on "junk". But, I got this super sweet e-mail forward from my Mom where a friend of hers said how much she loves my blog & I'm pretty sure I'll be going to the junk store or Dollar Tree tomorrow so I will have a new post to help you guys with you fall decor! (Ah my favorite decor of all!)

Anyways the reason for this post is to show you guys that making decor isn't some kind of super power! I totally wish it was, but the truth is anyone can do it! Hence DIY :)

So, I am going to tell the best secret ever...the ideas all of the bloggers around here have aren't always original...

They're just cheaper versions of stuff like this...

This pumpkin stack, oh excuse me Pumpkin Topiary is from Kirkland's "Harvest" collection. It is $24.99!!
What in the world?? I do love it, & I'm seriously thinking about making it tomorrow just so I can show you that $24.99 is a rip off & we shouldn't have to wait till December to get "harvest" decor at a reasonable price.

This one honestly cracks me up. Pottery Barn is selling this set of fake acorns for $14 bucks (& you get about 54.)...ACORNS people! I just got some acorn decor, for FREE. It's called your yard & It's the best place to shop for fall decor like: acorns and pine cones.

This is just plain crazy! Pottery Barn made this Halloween set up, which I love! What they are trying to sell is that big cloche. Their price is $69...wow that's some serious sticker shock. Cloches are so plentiful at junk store you can find one just about every time you go in there. as for the other stuff that decorates it, lets do i list...books, candlestick: have, spider, tombstone candle, moss: dollar tree, so you maybe would spend $10 on this same look if you just found a cloche & took the time to decorate around it.

So, stop looking at those magazines & emails you get and thinking, that cost too much I just wont have any decor...make it! You can do it.

My intentions for this post was not to bash department stores for their high prices, but to show you all how easy it can be to find inspiration and creativity. Its right in front of us we just have to look with a knew eye. Good luck with your decor. I'll be posting this weekend to show you some fall decor I'm working on. This is why I haven't posted all week...

That's right my first week of college. :) (check out my FREE backpack, I won at orientation!)

I planned on having a fall party today, to celebrate the fact that Arkansas weather is dropping finally & we've even been below the 70s this week. :) That makes me VERY happy. Not only is that a reason for celebration, but also today was my last day at work!! Woo-hoo. I've been working at a bbq restaurant for over a year & i hated it. But now I officially have my CNA license! So before we get this party started I wanted to show yall something I got from my junk store this week.

I had already taped off the only part I actually liked about it before I remember I should take a before pic.

I know it is so ugly! But, I swear it has been looking at me in the Junk Store for weeks. So i finally dished out my 3 little dollars & bought it. & here it is now...

I looove it! The sticker on the back said it was originally $34...umm I'm sorry but there is no way. I think $3 was just fine. I was planning on painting the brown part black, but I liked it just the way it was. When I showed it to Mom she decided she need to keep it hehe.

Now for the lovely lamps :)

Here is my new project for the next few weeks...I'm so excited!

I found this lamp out in our field by a shed it was buried in the ground pretty much (that's where all the real good junk is of course ;) ) So I got it out brought it inside cleaned it up & spray painted the bottom. After months of looking for a shade that fit I finally found one & payed $2 for it. I want to recover the shade of course. But first I want to see all the lamps you guys have already dolled up!

So add any LAMP you've fixed up your self even if you only added paint. If it's a lamp I want to see it.

Before my blogging days...

Before I started my blog I did a ton of other projects. Today I'm gonna show you guys a couple of them.
I started going to yard sales & thrift stores at the beginning of the summer & just can't stop! I've always had a crafty side but I mostly made hair bows & BIG tree topper bows, & a HUGE bow for my aunt to put on top of her daughters birthday car.

My first big find was 2 Mirrors for only $2 a piece!! This is the only before picture I could find. They're pretty tall & seriously $2?!?! How could anyone pass that up!

I sanded them, even though it was hard because of all the designs in the wood. Then I painted the one for my bedroom black & did a little distressing on it. I painted the other one white & put it in our hallway bc lets be honest there's only so much my bedroom can hold & I had more important things to put in there (like my thrift store chairs) ;)

So...Here they are!

The black one is hanging in my room now bc at the time I was totally into black accessories, but that white one sure is pretty :)

I also found these at my favorite junk store (thrift store whichever you prefer) for only $3 each!

The clock got a paint job, it use to look like this...

It still needs a new background behind the plastic but I'm looking for the perfect paper for that.
The mirror was in a booth that was having a half off sale, & i had been eyeing it for awhile so I knew it was meant to be!

I made these "candle sticks" out of old legs I found in the barn. I cut, sanded, & painted them. Sry no before pics. You may remember seeing them in my first post.

I made this for our hallway...It's a horrible pic I'm sry.

The Window was in a shed outside & i got the sticker vinyl thing from the Dollar Tree! So the whole project $1 :) & it looks so good in there.

I think that's about all i have for today. & Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the top fall post i wanted to make I've been all over blogland picking my favorites! & also I'm going to have a linky party so everyone can show there fall creations off!

Hi, My name is Brittany & I'm addicted to blogs!

I currently have 20 blogs on my favorites bar...I read all twenty of them everyday. How pathetic :)

This is the reason I haven't been updating my blog. Not because I haven't been working on projects, but because I've been too busy reading yalls blogs! So, later I'm going to show my top favorite fall blog posts!! It's been in the 105s around here for weeks so I am definitely in the Fall spirit! :)

Now for the good stuff...

This table is beside my chair in our living room. Ok, not to be rude but I don't care for it much at all. It was boring me so I decided to make it my first Mod Poge project! I've been dying to mod podge & now i want to do it to everything! ;)

Here are my supplies:

Mod Podge-4.69 at HL

Pretty paper-.59 each at HL (i got 2 sheets but had some left over)

sand paper & paint roller- already had

So this was around $6

I sanded the table a little then rolled the table with my mod podge. Layed the pretty paper on & mod podged another layer. It says to let it dry 1-2 hours, but because I can't make a living from doing nothing all day I went to work & let it dry for ah about 2 days ;)

Needless to say I like it a lot more it looks real nice in our living room. My mom wasn't sure it would hold up to cups sweating on it & what not but I got glossy finish mod podge & it holds up great!

I love the texture of the paper on the wood. Seriously I've been thinking about a ton of things to Mod podge!

My latest junk finds!

I heart good junk!

That pic at the top has nothing to do with this post, but i do love it. I took it of a shed in our yard.

Now...for the good stuff!

I got both of these from my favorite junk store in town for $5 a piece! They looked just like that pic when i got them. I put a fresh coat of pain to each one, & did some reinforcment on the legs. Heres what they look like now....

I have to admit, the white is my favorite! But how can you beat 2 perfectly good chairs for only $10 bucks!

I also got this cute little shelf.

I painted it white...

I think it turned out pretty good for just $4.

Also I have a lot going on these next couple of weeks, so don't give up on me I promise you im DIY-ing every chance I get & taking pictures while I am. Theres much more to come, so keep checking in & tell your friends. :)

An Old Favorite

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been m.i.a the past week. It's been crazy around here. But, some how I've managed to get a few projects done.

I am SO happy to say I am FINALLY done with this project!! It's been a long process...

Here's the before.

This is a bench to a vanity that belonged to my great-grandmother. I've had it for a long time! Apparently my great-grandmother was a junker too!! :) I've heard that she enjoyed dumpster diving hehe. I think it's so ironic that I got such a great piece from her. It took me awhile to figure out exactly how i wanted to fix it...so this is what i had at first...

It was going to be grey with black stripes, but that didn't work for me. So then i did this...

I wanted light green stripes that barely show up. In real life it looks that way but they seem to show up more in this pic. I wanted it to be like these Hint of Mint stripes over at Life in the Fun Lane. Her furniture is so crisp & clean...I love it.

And here is my finally product!

The top is covered with a deep green fabric i found at Hobby Lobby in a fabric bin for (gasp!) $4! I didn't put in dept instructions bc stuff like this is all over blogland!

This last picture makes me so giddy! Seriously, i did that! :)

So here's the prices:

P.S. I forgot to mention I also have the vanity (which is absolutely beautiful) I can't wait to redo it...but right now i dont have any room left in this bedroom of mine so it will be a project for the future.

Canton, TX trip!

My family took a small trip to Canton, TX for the First Monday's trade days. I had so much fun. It was a HOT one though!! One of our first purchases was a couple of the neck coolers for my Mom & I. They helped a ton. If you go I highly suggest getting one before you even get started! Above is a picture of a sign we saw when we first got there. Mom & I were so happy to see Christian related signs. Below is a picture of my first look down the hill at the shops...I was SO excited, I would've ran but I'm too accident prone hehe :)

I didn't get many picture of the shops and all of the cool stuff there. Mostly because it was so extremely hot. I got ZERO pictures of the fam. because I'm almost positive no one felt up to taking pictures. But here's a few...

I Just loved this HUGE shovel.

This Flip flop place had the cutest cowgirl rubber boots that I totally needed!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Terrel, TX. It was nice, i loved the bathroom vanity. I would recommend this hotel for sure.

I was SO happy to see this sign!! I'm lactose intolerant so ice cream is a rare treat...I didn't get one but it's nice that I had the option! :)

Here's the stuff I got, it's not much. But of course there is only so much a girls bedroom can hold. ;)

I FINALLY got a cheese dome :)) when i found that bad girl for $7 bucks i almost peed my pants hehe. & I got a few other odd & ends...

Over all it was a great trip. I can't wait to go back!

P.S. This week I'll show my plans for my awesome cheese dome!

My very first post!

I finally got my blog working!

I still have a lot to learn about all this so go easy on me.

I wanted to wait until I got back from my Canton, TX trip. However, it was hard for me to wait.

I wanted my first post to be a little introduction about myself. I just graduated from High School a year early, & I'm about to start my first year of college. I'm studying in Women's Health to be a Nurse Practitioner. For now I am working at a BBQ restaurant in my area. But, I'm also working on my CNA license, so I can work at the hospital and get some experience while I'm going to college. In my free time I work on home decor projects. I don't have a house of my own right now, but i have my room decored up! I also enjoy helping my mom work on her house. I wanted to start my blog to have a reminder of all of my projects & also to share my ideas with anyone who will read it. Because I may be young, but my mind is full of great ideas & I'm happy to share them!
