Doing chores
Exercise doesn’t always have to take a lot out of you. You can simply do a few chores which keep your heart rate up and help you to burn calories.

Some of these may include tending to the garden, washing your car, washing the dishes or mowing the lawn.
3.

Stress is a daily occurrence for the majority of people in life. Sure, there are a few people who seem to be at ease with themselves and the world, but it is a rare sight to behold. The truth is that it is near impossible to eliminate stress completely, but there are certainly are a few ways to stop stress being such a prominent occurrence.
How to Relieve Stress 1. Live Below Your Means
Money is commonly regarded as the root of all evil, and for good reason to – people spend their whole lives trying to amass more and more wealth, in order to buy things that they think will make them happy. However, this mindset is wrong and can lead to a huge amount of stress.

Try and be happy with the amount of money you currently have, but more importantly, try to live below your means. Doing so makes sure that you will never get stressed out over the lingering thought that you will be unable to pay your bills.
2. Unplug
If you want to know how to reduce stress, one of the simplest ways is to unplug. We are living in an age where we are bound by technology. Most working professionals never seem to get the chance to take a break, thanks to the bombardment of text messages, phone calls, emails and so on. Understandably, you need to use this technology for your job, however, when it’s time to close up shop make sure that you unplug, and spend time doing things that you enjoy, such as jogging, socialising, reading etc.
3. Say No
One of the best ways to relieve stress is to learn to say no to others. Most of us have a hard time saying no, which results in us taking on too much work that we simply can’t handle. Next time someone asks you to do something that you would rather not do, or if you have any other commitments to take care of, be honest with them. The person will appreciate your honesty and will find someone else to help them out.

Being able to say no can avoid stress, allow you to manage your other responsibilities more effectively and can feel very liberating.
4.Get Enough Sleep
There if nothing like putting on your pyjamas, jumping into your bed, and letting sleep take you over, after a hard day of work. The next morning you wake up with a smile on your face, fully prepared to cope with whatever the world throws at you. If you aren’t nodding your head in agreement as you read this, it is likely that you are not getting enough sleep, which is one of the biggest contributors to stress. Therefore, make sure that you get the amount of sleep your body needs every night. For some people, this might be 8-9 hours, other people only need 5-6 hours of sleep. However many hours of sleep you need to feel refreshed in the morning, make sure you get that amount every night without fail.
5. Enjoy Yourself
Life isn’t for working, life is for enjoying. Therefore, every so often make sure that you take the time to enjoy yourself, whether that be curling up on the couch and reading a novel, or drinking a few ice-cold beers with a few friends, after work. Whatever it is that you enjoy, make sure that you do it. It is certainly one of the best ways to relieve stress as you watch your worries fade away.

Tip: A few excellent tips for reducing stress can be found Here and Here

So you feel like giving do you? You’re not alone. Everyone goes through this in life. For some, it is a daily occurrence, which ultimately leads to giving up. For others, the feeling of giving up strikes just as often, but when it does strike they push through it. Take a guess at which group of people are successful and are able to achieve anything they put their minds to.

This is why learning how to stay focused is paramount, especially in the face of adversity when nothing seems to be going to plan or going you way. Staying focused is not hard, it is simple. You just have to remember a few things.
How to Stay Focused – 3 Steps 1.Ask Yourself Why Am I Doing This?
For every task you undertake there must be some sort of end goal in mind. There may be some things that you actually want to do, such as losing weight. While others you would rather not be doing, such as working against the clock to meet a deadline for work. In either case, there is an end goal in mind. You clearly want to lose weight in order to have a body you can be proud of; something like that is easy to push through. On the other hand, working to meet a deadline can be hard to push through. But again, an end goal exists, although it may not be obvious at first, which is to earn money to support yourself and your family.

So remember, when you feel like giving up and are unable to stay focused, ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” This should easily get you back on track.
2.Eliminate Any Distractions
Now more than ever, we live in an age where technology dominates our lives. On a daily basis, we are bombarded with phone calls, emails, Facebook updates, Twitter updates and so on. With all these distractions, it is no surprise that you find it difficult to stay focused. However, the solution is simple. All you have to do is exercise some self discipline. Close your inbox, log out of Facebook, switch off your phone etc. Only you can do these things so there is no excuse to get distracted.
3.Work in Bursts
However dedicated a person may be, it is impossible to stay focused for hours at a time. In fact, the majority of people are unable to stay intently focused for more than 30-45 minutes. Therefore, it is a good idea to work in short bursts, making sure that you take 5 minute breaks in between. This only works on one condition though, which is that you must have the self discipline to stay completely focused on the task at hand. The temptation to visit your favourite website or check the news might creep in, but you must avoid giving into this temptation.

How to Stay Focused – 3 Steps

1.Ask Yourself Why Am I Doing This?

After all, that is what the 5 minute break is there for.

Working in short bursts brings an element of structure to your life. This undoubtedly makes it easier for you to concentrate. Yes, even on those days when you are tired and uninspired.

By following the aforementioned tips, you will find that you are able to stay focused more easily than before. However, keep in mind that like anything else in life, the more you practice, the easier it gets.

Vipassana meditation is one the world’s oldest meditation techniques, developed by Gautama Buddha more than 2,500 years ago. It is an invaluable technique that teaches people to see life and the world around them exactly as it is, gaining insight into the true nature of reality, without the ego getting in the way.

Many people believe that vipassana meditation is about controlling thoughts or changing their breathing rhythm or pattern. This is wrong. It is simply watching your thoughts, emotions and breathing as they arise. Think of it like sitting on a riverbank (you) and watching the river flow (the mind). By simply watching the mind, you will find that you will become detached from the constant flow of thoughts in your head. You will not become a victim of your mind, rather, you will become a witness, and start to see things as they really are.
How to Practice Vipassana Meditation
As mentioned, vipassana mediation is done by simply watching your mind. However, here is a step-by-step guide to make sure that you get the finer point rights.

1. Find somewhere quiet, where you know that you will not be disturbed, i.e. away from people and traffic, and make sure that you switch your phone off.

2. Get comfortable, but make sure that you keep your head and spine straight (this may actually be uncomfortable at first because you are not used to it, but after awhile, you will become more and more comfortable with this position).

3. Close your eyes and begin to relax by inhaling and exhaling deeply for a few minutes.

4. As you inhale and exhale, become aware of the sensations occurring – namely the length and coolness of the breath, i.e. the feeling of the breath hitting your bottom lip, the rising and falling of the abdomen. Make sure that you do not try to control your breathing.

5. When your mind wanders away from your breathing, and believe me when I say that it will- and very frequently at that- come back to your breathing. Make sure that you do not get frustrated when this occurs.

6. Repeat this process for 20 minutes. Keep in mind that, at first, it may be difficult to sit for this long, but in time, you will be able to sit for an hour plus without any trouble.

7. Rise and get on with your day. Notice how you appear to be much more calm, your thoughts are not disturbing you, and you start to become aware of things that you may have previously missed before. For example, you might be able to hear the birds singing outside, see the vibrancy of colours etc.

8. Try to do vipassana meditation first thing in the morning or just before you go to bed. This is because it is a fantastic way to start or end your day. When meditating first thing in the morning, you will notice how you appear to be calmer, even in the event of things that would normally annoy you. When mediating before bed, you will notice how much easier it is to get to sleep, as your mind is free of your stresses and worries.
What Are the Benefits of Vipassana Meditation?
Performing vipassana meditation on a daily basis produces many benefits.
