Thunderstorms along Colorado Front Range spur concerns of possible flooding

BOULDER, Colo. — Predictions of thunderstorms for Boulder County have emergency officials on alert for possible flooding where a wildfire last year left mountainsides west of Boulder bare of trees and bushes.

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood watches for parts of Colorado's Front Range, including parts of Boulder, Larimer, Jefferson, Douglas and Gilpin counties.

For over a millennium Mankind has relied on the stars for celestial navigation, sidereal and tropical astrology, observational astronomy, and the making of calendars. We have Virgo clothed with the Sun, the moon under her feet - and Venus, Saturn, Mercury and the Sun in her belly!!!

The Draconid meteor shower begins Oct 8. The Draconids are expected to be intense this year with 10,000 meteors produced per hour.
The Draconids are named because it's meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Draco, the Dragon.

She gave birth to a son, a male child (Venus), who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter."

Actually, she gives birth to quadruplets!!!!

C/2010 X1 (Comet Elenin) and Asteroid 2005 YU55 will cross the ecliptic and remains on the same gravitational plane as Earth on the anniversary of the World Trade Center/Pentagon attack - 9/11/11. In the Jewish Gematria the word "Elenin" is equal to 119, the reverse.
Asteroid 2005 YU55 will be 0.00217AU from the Earth and come between us and the Sun. It will be closest to the Moon at 0.00160AU.
Now here's the problem - Asteroid 2005 YU55 overlaps with the Earth the following month on November 8 through the 9th. Even if it misses us (and that is debatable) this places C/2010 X1 (Comet Elenin) about 23 million miles on one side of the Earth and Asteroid 2005 YU55 will be 202,000 miles on the other side of us. Can anyone spell "Tug-Of-War" between brothers Poganghoya and Palongawhoya??

The celestial light show in September may also be a preview of things to come in 2012. A brown dwarf star five times the size of Jupiter and nicknamed Nemesis by NASA scientists could be responsible for throwing snowballs at us from the nearby Oort Cloud.

here are some snowballs heading our way:

1) ASTEROID 2005 YU55 is closest to Earth on November 9, 2011 at .0022AU. YU55 is expected to cross between the orbit of the Moon and the Earth passing the Earth by only 200000 miles. It's position will form a triangle with the Earth and the Moon. The pull will be powerful enough to change YU55's trajectory and degrade it's speed. The Sun will push the Earths magnetic shield away from the Sun. The Moon will be traveling thru it, and during the month of November if any solar activity is present, the asteroid may be significantly affected.

On November 8th YU55 will be 202,000 miles from Earth.
On November 9th at 2pm, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will work with the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) to conduct a test - it's only a test - of the Emergency Broadcast System. They announced it so far in advance because they “want all partners and especially the public to be aware of this test, what it means, and have plenty of time to prepare.” LINK

2) ASTEROID 2005 GO21 is closest to Earth on June 22, 2012 at .442AU.

3) ASTEROID 4179 TOUTATIS is closest to Earth on December 12, 2012 at .0503AU. Toutatis comes close to Earth again and is at its closest for exactly 4 days straight on December 25, 26, 27, 28, 2016 at .207AU. Toutatis is estimated to be 2.8 miles by 1.5 miles wide.

4) ASTEROID 99942 APOPHIS is closest to Earth on April 13, 2036 and will pass Earth within the orbits of geosynchronous communication satellites at 22600. Apophis caused a brief period of concern in December 2004 when initial observations indicated a small probability (up to 2.7%) that it would strike the Earth in 2029. Additional observations revealed the possibility that during the 2029 close encounter with Earth, Apophis would pass through a gravitational keyhole, a precise region in space no more than about a half-mile widethat would set up a future impact on April 13, 2036. Apophis is estimated to be 1050 feet in diameter.

5) COMET 45P/HONDA is closest to Earth on August 18, 2011 at .0766AU. Honda comes close to Earth again on February 13, 2016 at .0677AU (closer to Earth than in 2011). It's a periodic comet which follows an elliptical, five and a quarter years orbit around our Sun commencing from the Ophiuchus constellation at the Galactic Equator. This year, it will be the closest approach by a comet since D/1770 L1 (Lexell) in 1770 and C/1983 H1 (IRAS-Araki-Alcock) in 1983. With the exception of 1954 and 1990, Comet 45P/Honda’s aphelion has become increasingly closer to earth.

Comet 45P/Honda has passed in close proximity with Earth, Venus and Jupiter since it's discovery in 1948. Interestingly, when it passed Earth at 0.23AU on February 5, 1975, China had a 7.3 magnitude earthquake the day before on February 4, 1975.
Another interesting aspect of 45P/Honda is its forecasted flyby with Comet Elenin. They will cross path approximately around October 8.
Comet 45P/Honda is estimated to be 1 mile in diameter.

6) COMET P/2006 T7 (LEVY) is closest to Earth on January 7, 2012 at .453AU. Levy comes close to Earth again and is at its closest for exactly 6 days straight on April 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 2017 at 1.399AU. Levy is estimated to be 1.2 miles in diameter.

COMET ELENIN

C/2010 X1 (Elenin) was discovered in December 2010 by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin, using equipment at the International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory. From the beginning it became apparent that Comet Elenin was behaving oddly. C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is classified as a Hyperbolic Comet. Usually comets with a very long orbit (10000+ years) are not in the same ecliptic plane as our solar system's planets. They're random travelers coming in from any direction before being captured by our sun's gravity. C/2010 X1 (Elenin) is traveling on the very same elliptic plane as the Earth. This is highly unusual and possibly very dangerous because Elenin comes from beyond our solar system. Every other comet, including Kohoutek, has come from within the Oort Cloud.. C/2010 X1 (Elenin) comes from so far away that its orbital path isn't even completed on the JPL site!

Why is that a problem?

Comets are electric space capacitors. The evidence suggests that comets are highly negatively charged with respect to the Sun. As they rush toward the Sun, the voltage increases until at some point the comet nucleus begins discharging ionized atoms and molecules in a "cathode jet" of negatively charged dust. The reason Elenin is causing earthquakes whenever it aligns with the Earth and Sun is because Elenin has been in deep space for a very long time gathering electrons and building an enormous electrical field to feed to the sun. If Elenin is, as many scientists believe, a first time visitor to our solar system, then it means Elenin has picked up an incredible amount of electrons as it traveled the thousands of years through space it took to get here. The longer in space without discharging,
the more electricity is stored in the comet. When comets discharge their capacitance towards the Sun it generates a photon tail. The infrared signature for comet Elenin suggest the charge Elenin is carrying is so large that when the comet dumps its capacitance, the resulting photon flare up (comet tail) will engulf the Earth as the Earth passes through the tail. Passing though the tail will ionize all matter on the surface of the earth.

On September 24th 2011

C/2010 X1 (Elenin) will pass between the Earth and the Sun putting the Earth in the direct path of Elenin's photon blast with the Sun.The comet's tail (or coma), has exceed 100,000 km and will be pointed directly at us.

As a result of outgassing, comets leave a large trail of solid debris. When C/2010 X1 (Elenin) crosses Earth's path there are likely to be meteor showers as Earth passes through the trail of debris. The Perseid meteor shower occurs every year between August 9 and August 13, when Earth passes through the orbit of Comet Swift–Tuttle. Halley's comet is the source of the Orionid shower in October.

These meteor showers are experienced within comet tail debris that has already dispersed considerably during the time that it takes for the Earth to reach their locations and are the result of traveling through an area that has been crossed at right angles by the comets tail.

Comet Hale-Bop's elliptic took it in between Jupiter and Mars' elliptic plane at a cross angle but there has never been in Earth's history an observed comet traveling on our elliptic plane and in the same direction that we are traveling, as Comet Elenin does this Fall.

In the first 50 days of this year we've experienced everything under the sun and moon.
1) massive floods and sinkholes
2) over 200 earthquakes
3) snow storms and cyclones,
4) over 50 recently activated volcanoes
5) five million mysterious animal deaths.

If you look at the pattern of large earthquakes, magnitude 7 and upwards, appearing within about 24 -36 hours after a geomagnetic storm, the correlation between C/2010 X1 (Elenin) and our Sun is obvious. The March 11 Japan earthquake occurred a day after a long duration G1-level geomagnetic storm had begun. This storm lasted for three days from March 10 - 12, gaining a G2-level of intensity on March 11 (G5-level is the greatest or most severe storm rating.) The next geomagnetic storm occurred on April 6, 2011 when a G2-level storm was followed by four 7.4 earthquakes in Japan. On April 7 there were also two 6.4 earthquakes in Mexico. The third geomagnetic storm occurred on April 12, a G1-level and a 7.2 earthquake was recorded in Japan. The seismic reading went as high as 8.2 magnitude.
Every time we have had a G1-level geomagnetic storm since March 10, 2011 it has been followed by a large earthquake of at least a 7.2 magnitude.
The March 11, 9.0 magnitude earthquake in Japan that created the fatal tsunami and tilted the Earth off it's axis was also proceeded by the largest super flare recorded, an X1.5 level, on March 9, 2011. Most of the geomagnetic storms are a result of huge coronal high speed solar holes that were directed earthward. These storms are rare but have been increasing in numbers this year as the solar maximum continues to increase in its intensity. and especially as Comet Elenin continues to come ever closer to the interior of our solar system.

Coincidently ..... or not .... Comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) was “discovered” by amateur astronomer Leonid Elenin on December 10, 2010- 2 months AFTER the official White House letter was written.

Maybe the White House hired a psychic!

Dr. Mensur Omerbashich PHD, one of the world's top seismic scientists of Cornell University, recently published, "Astronomical Alignments as the Cause of M6+ Seismicity." to possibly explain any future earthquakes associated with Elenin's orbital conjecture with Earth.

On Dec 21, 2012, at the end of both the Maya and Hindu calendar, the Earth will be in the constellation of Ophiuchus (pronounced Oh-fee-YOU-cuss) the 13th sign of the zodiac. Next to Ophiuchus in 2012 will be the constellation Sagittarius. In 2012 Sagittarius will point his arrow directly towards the galactic center, also known as the Leviathan or Dark Rift.

When a line is drawn from the tip of the Sagittarius' arrow to the end of Scorpio’s tail it passes directly through the center of the galaxy creating the “Divine Cross” with the Celestial Equator. At the same time the Divine Cross will intersect with the "Terrestrial Mundane Cross" formed by the equinoxes. When these two crosses align every 26,000 years (the last occurring in 10,500 B.C) they form an eight wheel spoke at the galactic center.
This eight wheel spoke represents the alignment of the Divine Cross "above" with the Terrestrial Mundane Cross "below" forming the hermetic maxim:

Ophiuchus depicts a man crushing a serpent, tracing back to the ancient Egyptian mortal/god named Imhotep, who lived about 27 B.C. .
On October 17,1604 Johannes Kepler, a German mathematician, astrologer and astronomer began observing a supernova located right in the heel of Ophiuchus. The supernova lies about 13,000 light years away from Earth and happens to the last such object seen to explode in the Milky Way galaxy.

There are two solar eclipses in 2012 (May 20 & November 13), the first will see the sun and moon conjuncting the Pleiades and in the second solar eclipse the sun and moon will conjunct the constellation Serpens, or serpent. Serpens is a constellation that is connected physically with Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer. Ophiuchus was a famous healer and the serpent coils around his head and shoulders. These two eclipses in 2012 physically reflect the cosmic orobouros, which is the primordial serpent of eternity represented as a snake swallowing it’s own tail - the alpha & omega.

In the early 70s Dennis and Terrence McKenna applied their knowledge of fractals to the 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching to arrive at the end date of 2012. The Indo-Tibetan belief that the current 'Kali Yuga' (the Age of Iron), the final and most negative of four evolutionary Yugic cycles corresponds with the end date of 2012. The Mayan calendar began with the Fifth Great Cycle in 3114 BC and will end on 21 December 2012 AD. The Hindu Kali Yuga calendar began on 18 February 3102 B.C. There is only a difference of 12 years between the Hindu's beginning of the Kali Yuga and the Mayan's beginning of the Fifth Great Cycle.
The Mayan's first prophecy talks about 'The Time of No-Time'. A period of 20 years, which they call a Katún. The last 20 years of the Sun's cycle of 5,125 years. This cycle is from 1992 - 2012.They predicted that during these times, solar winds would become more intense and could be seen on the Sun. This would be a time of great realization and great change for mankind. And it would be our own lack of preservation and contamination of the planet that would contribute to these changes. According to the Mayans, these changes would happen so that mankind comprehends how the universe works so we could advance to superior levels, leaving behind superficial materialism and liberating ourselves from suffering.

This is a view outside my window. I use to tell my out-of-state friends that my apartment building was built over the Boulder creek.

But that's not exactly true.

In reality my apartment building was build over a agricultural run-off ditch !!!!

I know ... it doesn't sound the least bit romantic. In fact it sounds rather unpleasant.

But it does make for an interesting story, tho ...

From desert to oasis

Boulder was once considered a part of the so-called Great American Desert, a phrase coined by explorer Major Stephen H. Long to describe the flat, arid and treeless area now known as the Great Plains, unsuitable in its raw state for agriculture or habitation (at least by water-needy settlers).

It is safe to say that Long would find the region dominated to the west by the angular 14,000-foot mountain that bears his name nearly unrecognizable.

The series of irrigation ditches and reservoirs both created new ecosystems and replaced others, bringing new plants and wildlife and ultimately the tens of thousands of residents that now reside in Boulder County.

The transformation was quick. The area's first ditches were built by and for settlers chasing gold in Gold Hill, Idaho Springs and Black Hawk. The Smith Goss Ditch was the first ditch built in 1859 and by 1864, there were 36 Boulder ditches.

"My" ditch is called the "North Boulder Farmer's Ditch" and it shares the headgate with the "White Rock Ditch" and the "Left Hand Ditch"
It was built in 1861 - almost a 150 years ago !!

With over 300 sunny days a year in Boulder it makes perfect sense to utilize energy effective solar technology. My apartment building has taken advantage of this new technology by forming an alliance with the local utility company Xcel, to use solar power to off-set our utility bills. Today I went up to the rooftop and took some piktures of the new solar panel array being installed on my apartment building. What a view!! Thanks to the Obama stimulus package we're receiving almost a thousand solar panels on our very large roof! The energy produced will be sold to Xcel as part of the "renewable energy credit" program created and designed to save money on loal utility costs.
At least that how it was originally intended. Now Xcel is getting greedy ...

Boulder County solar industry decries Xcel's plan to slash incentives

Xcel Energy plans to slash its solar incentive program by nearly 50 percent, the Colorado utility announced Wednesday in a move that Boulder County companies say will devastate the local solar industry.
Currently, customers who install small solar arrays on their properties receive two types of incentives from Xcel's Solar Rewards program: a rebate worth $2 per watt and a "renewable energy credit" payment of $0.35 per watt.
Xcel said Wednesday that, effective immediately, the combined incentive for new solar installations would decrease from $2.35 to $2.01 per watt. The company also filed paperwork with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission on Wednesday that, if approved, would further drop the combined incentive to $1.25 per watt.
Members of the Colorado solar industry say the deep and sudden cuts to the incentive program could be ruinous.
"In one move, Xcel would slash the incentives to such a degree that it would fundamentally destabilize the marketplace," said Neal Lurie, executive director of the Boulder-based Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association. "They are nuking small businesses."

Xcel said the deep cuts were prompted by the decreasing cost of solar panels and the increasing number of government subsidies available for solar installations, such as the federal tax credit worth 30 percent of the system's cost.
"We established Solar Rewards to stimulate interest in installing solar systems on homes and businesses, and to make sure the technology is part of Colorado's energy mix," said David Eves, president and CEO of Xcel's Colorado operations, in a news release. "The program has been successful in doing that."
Xcel already has a plan in place to ratchet down its Solar Rewards program over time -- a strategy that many local companies were on board with. But now Xcel wants to scrap that plan in response to the solar industry's quick pace of growth.
"It grew faster and became more stable at a quicker pace than we had anticipated with the ratcheting down (plan)," Xcel spokeswoman Michelle Aguayo said.
Last week, the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association held its annual conference in Loveland, which attracted businesses from all over the country and as far away as China that were interested in investing in Colorado's solar industry, Lurie said.
"Xcel's move is putting that investment in Colorado at risk and putting all the gains in Colorado's new energy economy in jeopardy," he said.
Blake Jones, president and chief executive officer of Namaste Solar in Boulder, agrees with Lurie's dire assessment of the impacts associated with Xcel's plan.
These cuts "would effectively kill Colorado's solar market, and along with it, hundreds of solar companies like Namaste Solar and thousands of jobs," he said. "This is our worst nightmare come true."

Jay Keithline walked into his favorite tavern and met a woman with blonde hair, piercing blue eyes and sass.

"You're sitting in my chair," he announced to her and the bar.

Delores -- or DeDe, as she would become known -- swiveled around and replied: "I don't see your name on the back of this chair."

Keithline, who was then working as a carpet layer, bought her a double rum and coke. That was their start. Over the next 17 years, they stuck together in the roughest of times: keeping each other warm; panhandling to feed each other; drinking to forget what they ran away from; and passing their days playing trivia about Wild West movies.

In March, Jay Keithline, 55, panhandled $500 in a week so that he could afford to have his wife's body cremated after she turned jaundice, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she died from an infection.

Keithline used a napkin to wipe tears from his almond-colored eyes during a memorial Tuesday morning that honored DeDe Keithline, 55, and 21 other local homeless people who have died in the past year.

Several of Boulder's homeless -- and the professionals and volunteers who work with them -- huddled at the bandshell in Central Park for the memorial. Because photos were difficult to find, prints of police mug shots sufficed in some cases. Flowers decorated the stage, and polished stones were given out as symbols of hope.

"We have no addresses," Keithline said to the crowd of about 100. "We have no phones. We have no clean clothes.

"All you got is your people."

Every year, out of a Boulder County homeless population of approximately 1,200, about 20 people die of various causes, according to Joy Eckstine, executive director of Carriage House Community Table, a service organization that helps Boulder's homeless. Of that homeless population, an estimated 250 to 300 homeless live on the streets.

Eckstine keeps a list of "next of kin" for the people who visit the Carriage House and works closely with the Boulder County Coroner's Office, as does the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, to let family members know when a homeless person dies.

She has worked with those who were memorialized Tuesday, and said she witnessed their resilience.

"If you want to call it God, if you want to call it hope, if you want to call it holding on to dreams, I got to see that," she said.

After he finished his own tribute, Keithline looked up and told DeDe that he missed her. Just like that, he talks to the sky throughout the day. He said he doesn't care that people thinks he's crazy.

"She was a tough lady, but so weak on the inside," he said. "It's because there was no love inside for so long. Her first husband beat her. Her second husband was a junky. And, me, I was just Jay. I miss her so bad. I don't think I ever loved anybody but her."

The couple criss-crossed the country, traveling to Florida, California and spending much time in Boulder. When DeDe got sick, they gave up their vices to pay for her treatments. Keithline laughs at the thought of her trying to bum a cigarette in heaven.

"She wasn't my half," he said. "She was my whole. We were lovers. Friends. Soulmates."

The memorial service, an initiative of the National Coalition for the Homeless, was sponsored by the City of Boulder Human Relations Commission, McGuckin Hardware and Blessings in Bloom.

Is Free Thinking A Mental Illness?
Is nonconformity and freethinking a mental illness? According to the newest addition of the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), it certainly is. The manual identifies a new mental illness called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD. Defined as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,”
symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed.
The DSM-IV is the manual used by psychiatrists to diagnose mental illnesses and, with each new edition, there are scores of new mental illnesses.
New mental illnesses identified by the DSM-IV include arrogance, narcissism, above-average creativity, cynicism, and antisocial behavior. In the past, these were called “personality traits,” but now they’re diseases.
And there are treatments available.
All of this is a symptom of our over-diagnosing and overmedicating culture. In the last 50 years, the DSM-IV has gone from 130 to 357 mental illnesses. A majority of these illnesses afflict children. Although the manual is an important diagnostic tool for the psychiatric industry, it has also been responsible for social changes. The rise in ADD, bipolar disorder, and depression in children has been largely because of the manual’s identifying certain behaviors as symptoms. A Washington Post article observed that, if Mozart were born today, he would be diagnosed with ADD and “medicated into barren normality.”
The Soviet Union used new “mental illnesses” for political repression. People who didn’t accept the beliefs of the Communist Party developed a new type of schizophrenia. They suffered from the delusion of believing communism was wrong. They were isolated, forcefully medicated, and put through repressive “therapy” to bring them back to sanity.
Although the authors of the manual claim no ulterior motives but simply better diagnostic practices, the labeling of freethinking and nonconformity as mental illnesses has a lot of potential for abuse. It can easily become a weapon in the arsenal of a repressive state.

You may have heard about Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon before. In fact,
you probably learned about it for the first time very recently. If
not, then you just might hear about it again very soon. Baader-Meinhof
is the phenomenon where one happens upon some obscure piece of
information– often an unfamiliar word or name– and soon afterwards
encounters the same subject again, often repeatedly. Anytime the
phrase "That's so weird, I just heard about that the other day" would
be appropriate, the utterer is hip-deep in Baader-Meinhof.

Most people seem to have experienced the phenomenon at least a few
times in their lives, and many people encounter it with such
regularity that they anticipate it upon the introduction of new
information. But what is the underlying cause? Is there some hidden
meaning behind Baader-Meinhof events?

The phenomenon bears some similarity to synchronicity, which is the
experience of having a highly meaningful coincidence… such as having
someone telephone you while you are thinking about them. Both
phenomena invoke a feeling of mild surprise, and cause one to ponder
the odds of such an intersection. Both smack of destiny, as though the
events were supposed to occur in just that arrangement… as though
we're witnessing yet another domino tip over in a chain of dominoes
beyond our reckoning.

Despite science's cries that a world as complex as ours invites
frequent coincidences, observation tells us that such an explanation
is inadequate. Observation shows us that Baader-Meinhof strikes with
blurring accuracy, and too frequently to be explained away so easily.
But over the centuries, observation has also shown us that observation
itself is highly flawed, and not to be trusted.

The reason for this is our brains' prejudice towards patterns. Our
brains are fantastic pattern recognition engines, a characteristic
which is highly useful for learning, but it does cause the brain to
lend excessive importance to unremarkable events. Considering how many
words, names, and ideas a person is exposed to in any given day, it is
unsurprising that we sometimes encounter the same information again
within a short time. When that occasional intersection occurs, the
brain promotes the information because the two instances make up the
beginnings of a sequence. What we fail to notice is the hundreds or
thousands of pieces of information which aren't repeated, because they
do not conform to an interesting pattern. This tendency to ignore the
"uninteresting" data is an example of selective attention.

In point of fact, coincidences themselves are usually just an artifact
of perception. We humans tend to underestimate the probability of
coinciding events, so our expectations are at odds with reality. And
non-coincidental events do not grab our attention with anywhere near
the same intensity, because coincidences are patterns, and the brain
actually stimulates us for successfully detecting patterns… hence
their inflated value. In short, patterns are habit-forming.

But when we hear a word or name which we just learned the previous
day, it often feels like more than a mere coincidence. This is because
Baader-Meinhof is amplified by the recency effect, a cognitive bias
that inflates the importance of recent stimuli or observations. This
increases the chances of being more aware of the subject when we
encounter it again in the near future.

How the phenomenon came to be known as "Baader-Meinhof" is uncertain.
It seems likely that some individual learned of the existence of the
historic German urban guerrilla group which went by that name, and
then heard the name again soon afterwards. This plucky wordsmith may
then have named the phenomenon after the very subject which triggered
it. But it is certainly a mouthful; a shorter name might have more
hope of penetrating the lexicon.

However it came to be known by such a name, it is clear that Baader-
Meinhof is yet another charming fantasy whose magic is diluted by
stick-in-the-mud science and its sinister cohort: facts. But if you've
never heard of the phenomenon before, be sure to watch for it in the
next few days… brain stimulation is nice.

Thousands Flee Worst Wildfire in Boulder, Colorado History

BOULDER, Colorado, September 7, 2010 (ENS) - The worst wildfire in Boulder County history is blazing uncontrolled in rugged, steep terrain west and northwest of the Boulder City limits.
While no deaths or injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, 92 structures have burned down, eight others are damaged, and 500 more are threatened.
The fire began on Monday in Emerson Gulch located in Four Mile Canyon about five miles west of downtown Boulder, a university town in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
By Tuesday afternoon, the Fourmile Canyon wildfire had grown to at least 7,100 acres in size and forced the mandatory evacuation of more than 3,500 residents living in the steep, heavily forested hills west of the City of Boulder.
More than 200 firefighters from at least 35 local, regional and national agencies are struggling to contain the fire feeding on a forested area heavy with dead and down trees ravaged by mountain pine beetles. Eight air tankers and three helicopters joined the effort Tuesday. Due to a thick inversion layer limiting visibility, air tankers were unable take off Tuesday morning, but dropped more than 90,000 gallons of fire retardant later in the day. Teams have been on the scene all day cataloging burned structures and investigating the fire's cause and origin, which are still unknown.

As a Nation we are looking ahead at a global financial meltdown, an 8.5 trillion dollar Recession, massive job layoffs, widespread homelessness and food riots here in this country as well as possible war with Pakistan overseas. ect, ect. In such a profound state of crisis what will Obama do to maintain the social order? Simple! He's going to create a capitalist form of Left-wing authoritarianism.

Left-wing authoritarian regimes revolve around a "Cult of Personality" ie: Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Kim Jong-Il, where the glorious leader is considered to be "god-like" in his ability to run the country. A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country's leader uses the mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships, but can just as easily evolve in technologically advanced and multi-media saturated Democracies.

In the near future you'll either join your neighborhood Obama youth cadre, or block watchers, and perform your civic duties or you'll be "criticized" in group meetings - "I find your lack of faith disturbing"- ack *gag*! and shipped off to a government-funded make-work program/re-education camp where most of the millions of unemployed will be sent to anyways.

Obama's proposed "mandatory universal service" consist of several federally funded programs of indoctrination beginning at age 11 and continuing until college. Once you turn 18 Obama will be offering an annual tax credit of $4,000 toward college tuition. In return for the credit, college students will be required to perform 100 hours of community service every year for four years - most likely an R.O.T.C.-type program. When a student graduates from college, he will have done on average about 11 years of "Obama's Youth Brigade ...er.. "community service," at a minimum of 50-100 hours each year. Almost all college graduates will have spent a total workweek equivalent of at least four to five months of their lives working in Obama’s “national security force,” starting at the tender age of 11.

Rainbow Family hippies caught sleeping on library

BOULDER, Colo. — Seven self-proclaimed members of the Rainbow Family — and one Boulder resident who’s not part of the traveling hippies — face municipal fines after police found them sleeping on the roof of the Boulder Public Library.
A custodian spotted the inventive campers on top of the 1001 Arapahoe Ave. library — on the north side of the building by Canyon Boulevard — about 6:10 a.m. Wednesday and called police. Officers found eight people passed out in sleeping bags with their belongings scattered around and with two small dogs, said Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley.
“There is no easy access onto the roof, so they would have had to climb up the side of the building and use landscaping,” Huntley said.

Initially, police calls to the campers went unanswered, and they asked
the Boulder Fire Department to help them get the campers down. Three police officers climbed fire truck ladders to get on the roof, where Huntley said they immediately saw a man and woman sleeping next to each other in sleeping bags.
Nearby they found more campers “sound asleep” among their belongings, along with the small dogs, Huntley said.

Seven of the suspects told officers they belong to the Rainbow Family — a band of hippies that preaches love, tolerance and peace and holds gatherings every July — and said they’re just passing through Boulder after the annual event in New Mexico.
They told police they had taken some illegal psychedelic drugs before climbing on the library roof, Huntley said.

A member of the Rainbow Family, who’s staying in Boulder and knows the people arrested for sleeping on the library Wednesday, said they’ve recently been spending time on the Pearl Street Mall and playing music near the corner of Pearl and 11th streets.

“I don’t know what they were thinking to climb on a public building with seven dirty hippies and two dogs,” said the man, who would only give his hippie name, Crystal Biscuit.

Today at exactly 12:00 EST on the west front lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building, Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as our Nation's 44th President of the United States!! At about the same time the tides were turning in Washington, 'EX'-~~President~~ George Bush and 'EX'-~~Vice President~~ Dick Cheney, along with their families and their mangy dogs, were spotted on the South Lawn of the White House slinking off to their 99,000 acre ranch in extradiation free Paraquay!!

For eight long horrible years George Bush and his merry band of evil psychopaths regularly brought out the best and the worse in me. From the dark evil days of 9-11, Homeland Security, torture revelations and the daily horrorshow of the never ending war in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the exhilarating moments in New York City when millions of people took to the streets of Lower Manhattan in a bizarre and majestic pageantry of Protest, the presidency of George W. Bush challenged me in many different ways.

During these past 7 years I've seen too many pictures of maimed Iraqi children to forget and during these past 7 years I've been confronted by too many barricades and riot cops to want to remember. I'm most proud of the fact that I was able to help organized the largest mass public demonstration for Peace the world as ever known when a half a million people took over midtown Manhattan on March 22, 2003. Later I marched in Washington D.C. as well as countless weekend protests in Union Square. During my time in NYC I spend hours manning the phones at A.N.S.W.E.R. organizing benefits, plays, and candlelight vigils for Peace. At the Savannah Georgia G-8 Summit I stood down 20,000 riot cops. LOL! In August I was with the Rainbow Bloc at the Republican National Convention for more protest and high-jinks. Looking back ont he last 7 years I am indebted to all the beautiful activists of A.N.S.W.E.R, United For Peace and Justice, Not In Our Name, The World Can't Wait, Code Pink and Theater Against War (THAW)

Friends;
I'm typing these words tonight with a numb feeling of shock and sadness. I'm sitting at an all-nite Internet cafe on 42nd Street March 19, 2003, the first night of the war.
I am wet, cold and very, very, tired.
I've just returned from the first mass anti-war demonstration held in Times Square in what promises to be a long war. There were hundreds of protesters gathered in Times Square tonight, a wretched, miserable mass huddling under umbrellas in the cold pouring rain. So many people with so many reasons for why they chose to stand in the cold rain rather than be in their nice dry homes with loved ones. Although we knew this war was coming for months there was still a sense of shock and unreality among everyone present. Nobody could believe it was possible after so much worldwide opposition was raised.
I'm reminded of a quote from Albert Camus:

"We all carry within us our places of exile, our crimes, our ravages. Our task is not to unleash them on the world; it is to transform them in ourselves."

We're the armies of the night. We're going to win this thing. We have courage and strength and patience and most of all we have the love to carry us through.
We will transform this nation.
If you're feeling sad or lonely and confused tonight, just remember one thing: All the good books proclaim in the End that we will win.
We will win.

March 27, 2003, 17 days after the beginning of the war in Iraq I participated in a mass civil disobedience called a "die-in" Over 215 anti-war activists were arrested for blocking traffic on 5th Avenue near the Rockefeller Center. We were protesting the cooperation between U.S. media corporations and our government in sanitizing the war for public consumption.

Here's what I blogged:
I hadn't planned on being arrested but I was arrested anyways. The police calmly arrested 200 people and quickly cleared the street. I spent the next 16 hours in the Tombs (4 hours with plastic handcuffs on) with some of the most dedicated and beautiful kids I've met since Rainbow.

At 4 this morning I staggered out of the Tombs to the dark and deserted streets of Lower Manhattan. Greeting me with hot coffee and donuts was our jail support group, a great group of activists who had stayed up all night in front of the Tombs awaiting our release with cheer. I was given a button to wear that made the whole uncomfortable 16 hour ordeal worthwhile. It said simply, "I Was Arrested For Peace"

"You had three months of the media and government scaring people and then [Defense Secretary Donald] Rumsfeld threw in bioterrorism. It's not surprising people didn't come," said Bodhi, donning a sarong skirt.

The New York Times wrote an article in late May saying there could be as many as 70,000 demonstrators in Savannah.

The World, But Not Too Many Protesters, Showed Up

They held a protest and hardly anyone came. Leaders of eight of the world's most powerful nations arrived Tuesday at Sea Island, the elite resort transformed this week into an armed camp fearful of terrorism or massive protests. The agenda is spiced with hot issues: the Iraq war, world trade, global health crises.
But fewer than 300 protesters showed up in Savannah. About 20,000 police, federal agents and soldiers have been assigned to summit security. So far, that's more than 66 for each demonstrator.
The world leaders saw none of the protesters as they arrived at the Sea Island resort, encircled by naval patrols and covered with guards.
Fixed-wing propeller-driven military aircraft droned overhead as F-15 fighter jets cross-hatched the sky with their white contrails.

Some media reports had predicted as many as 70,000 protesters would come to Savannah, raising the specter of a potentially violent melee like at the G-8 summit in Genoa, Italy, in 2001, where one activist was killed and hundreds more were injured. With the massive show of force and the remote location of the summit on Sea Island, it became clear Tuesday that this year would not be a repeat of Genoa. There was no hiding activists' disappointment at the low turnout.

"This is the sum of all fears," said Bodhi, a Buddhist from New York who goes by one name and came representing Food Not Bombs, an anti-war group.

Other protesters shared Bodhi's view that military and police warnings about violence had scared off people who wished to protest. Gov. Sonny Perdue declared the region to be in a state of emergency for the summit, and protesters were kept miles from any of the summit gatherings. Groups that marched and rallied in Savannah were massively outnumbered not only by security forces, but also by the news media, who came to the Georgia coast from as far away as Japan and Scandinavia. At Forsyth Park, the stately Savannah centerpiece serving as protest central, 250 journalists mobbed 75 stunned protesters. In the midst of it all, a small group of purported anarchists, their faces covered by bandannas, broke into a surprisingly organized game of duck-duck-goose.

"They're a group of very spiritually minded individuals who gather out in the forests every year. All kinds of forests. We're everywhere."

Q. How long have you been protesting?

"Since [Richard] Nixon beat George McGovern [in 1972]. After that, I realized mainstream politics was not the place to go. I was severely disappointed that somebody like Nixon could get a landslide."

Q. Why did you become a protester?

"Because I didn't see any other legitimate way of effecting change. As sad as it is, our whole political process is bankrupt. It seemed to me instead of going out there just casting a vote, you have to go out there and do the groundwork."

Q. What is the most obscure place you've been to protest?

I did a tree sit in Oregon. I sat up in a tree for about two months a couple of years back. It was fun. I sat in a tree that was over 200 years old and prevented it from being logged."

Q. How has protesting changed your life?

It's made me feel more involved with what's going on. I don't feel as helpless. I don't feel as manipulated. I feel like I'm really doing something to effect change in this country."

Q. Why are you in Savannah?

"I'm here to ensure the G-8 demonstration goes off peacefully."

Q. Are you disappointed in the turnout?"

No, not at all. It's not quantity, it's the quality of the people who showed up. You [have] to understand, there was so much fear that was presented for this demonstration, that most people you would have expected to show up stayed out of town."

Q. What is the main issue in the G-8 that concerns you?

"Globalization."

Q. You were wearing a skirt to yesterday's protest rally. Do you do that all the time?

No. I was wearing one yesterday, but you need to remember I'm in redneck Georgia. If I could wear a skirt all the time, I would. If men would only just try on a skirt and wear it for one day, they would see the breeze is just air conditioning."

"Yesterday during the Republican National Convention in New York City I had the honor of demonstrating along side my brothers and sisters of the "Rainbow Bloc" (New York City Purple Gang and the N.E.R.F. Family.) Of all the committed folks that took to the streets during the RNC and braved the thousands of riot cops that were assembled against us, I was most proud of the brothers and sisters of the Rainbow Bloc. Yesterday was the "Day of Civil Disobedience" beginning with a vigil at Ground Zero. We were aware of news reports all week warning us that anyone on the streets participating in today's demonstrations was going to be immediately arrested and detained in a huge warehouse near the East River. We made sure everybody had the number of the Legal Aid written in marker on our arms. We double checked our bandages and bottled water. We were preparing for whatever may come. I won't lie and say that we weren't nervous. I had a knot in the pit of my stomach.

The streets were empty except for huge numbers of cops in riot gear and barricades. We had plans on meeting up with others at Strawberry Fields in Central Park. When we arrived at the park I noticed folks had left flowers and candles at the Imagine mosaic placed there in honor of John Lennon. Standing at the circle looking at all the flowers and candles, I felt John's spirit. I knew that had he lived, John would've been on the streets with us. When the rest of the Rainbow Bloc showed up I was amazed at the numbers. We had already marched a couple of days before when we had a half a million people on the streets. Still, the mood was somber and everybody was nervous. I had felt the spirit of John Lennon ever since I stepped into Strawberry Fields. Although I had lived in New York City for three years this was my first time to the park. Before we left to embark on this mad adventure we circled up around the Imagine mosaic and sang old Beatle songs -"Give peace a Chance" "Imagine" "All you need is Love." Then we held hands and sent out an OM. We acknowledged that there was something greater than ourselves, something more powerful than the forces arrayed against us today. We called out to the universe to send down to us the Light. that no matter how crazy the day may proceed, we would continue to be witnesses for peace.

The rest of the day was absolutely crazy. At Herald Square the cops threw orange netting over the crowd of about 200 then charged into the crowd beating and arresting everyone - even the bystanders. At the Library protest we watched the cops surround another crowd of activists with their orange netting. We barely escaped several attempts at arrests all day. Once by ducking down a subway entrance at the last moment.
Over 900 activists were arrested yesterday. Some activists were prepared to be arrested, but most were just caught up in the nets. We were in the thick of thing all day but none of us got caught."

This was a huge "shock and awe" attack by the IDF. Haaretz reports that 40 targets were destroyed in a span of three to five minutes. The NY Times says that children leaving school were hit and that there are hundreds of casualties. Radio Netherlands says that the IDF has bombed a mosque and that the casualty count at their air time was 230. AP currently reports the dead count at 290.

There have been more than 300 air strikes since midday Saturday — wreaking unprecedented destruction in Gaza, reducing entire buildings to rubble. It was the deadliest force ever used in decades of Israeli-Palestinian fighting.
Israel has not ruled out ground forces going into Palestine.

Hundreds tried to get across the border to Egypt. Egypt forces responded by opening fire on the refugees. One of the main medicine warehouses supplying local pharmacies in southern Gaza was hit. The prison was hit, nobody is sure about the casualty count there.

There is almost no food, no medicine and now no drinking water in Gaza because Israel choked off supplies after Hamas won the elections almost 2 years ago.

Gaza's nine hospitals were overwhelmed. Dr. Moawiya Hassanain, who keeps a record for the Gaza Health Ministry, said more than 290 people were killed over two days and more than 800 wounded.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights, which keeps researchers at all hospitals, said it had counted 251 dead by midday Sunday, and that among them were 20 children under the age of 16 and nine women.

I was reading a newspaper article recently on the latest manifestation of "O-bomb-Phe-nom" and I remembered when Barrack Obama first announced he was running for president. I had found some autographed copies of his book, "Dreams Of My Father" selling really cheap on e-bay. I said to a friend of mine then (who should've known better) "hey, you should go and buy these copies, they're gonna sell like hotcakes soon."
Then Obama appeared at the first Democratic debate and he was a real disappointment.
He came off stiff and uninspiring. He looked like a "suit" (and a cheap suit at that) and behaved like the whitest black guy in the room.
Then Oprah gave him back his mojo and suddenly he transformed into a "black Kennedy" ...
So I was absorbing all this buzz and trying to wrap my mind around it when the zz top song cheap sunglasses fell on my mental turntable.
It was truely a zen moment.
The scales fell from my eyes.
All was revealed as I stumbled down the road to Damascus.

What does it mean?
