This was reported today in the local Paper and it really got me thinking about how things would be differently for them if I acted that way in their country? Here fortunately, people are innocent until proven guilty.
My objection is with immigrants who come to our country, illegally sometimes and then commit felonies?

Here is what would happen to you if you were lucky in another country like let's say, Mexico.

You might be deported, ASAP. OR, you might be thrown in Jail for a while(a year or more), THEN go to trial. Whoever you are or where ever you go in the world, you will be in a hell of lot of trouble if you WILLING start a violent public brawl. This obviously wasn't just the spur of the moment, hot headed argument. If you start using baseball bats and nunchucks, you want to do someone GRIEVOUS bodily harm. I just looked on the net, you can buy "nunchucks" for a whopping 20 bucks. So these nuckleheads, with supposedly nothing to lose and no where to vent, are taking violence to the "streets?" Hey whatever you do pal, do come down my street. I just wanted to vent that if you aren't a citizen and you commit these crimes, then guess what? You are proving to us Americans you DO NOT WANT TO BE AMERICANS!

Jack Nicholson, "As Good as it Gets:" "Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all full up!"

DEPORT THEM NOW!

Should Nyack get observation cameras?

Our society is bound making people be accountable for their actions. If you break the law, you usually pay for it. So why do I want cameras "big brothers" eye watching over us? The answer is pretty simple. Our town has too many bars. So every Summer or when college is out, Nyack becomes swarmed with drunk kids. I could care less if they want to get drunk. That is not my point. I did it, why should they be allowed to do it? The problem arises when said drunks get violent and vandalize Nyack. I talked to the owner of Koblin's Pharmacy and heard that he was in the paper for some reason. He told me that every weekend, late at night, drunks, destroy the flowers in his flower box, attached to the front of his store. You may say, well that kids just being kids right? What you won't hear in the paper, is how every single weekend, their are bars fights. These fights are often "taken outside." Well then the boxing match begins and before you know it cops are all over the place breaking it up. Windows are commonly smashed and drunk fighters, taken to the hospital or arrested. Also I really wonder how safe women are in Nyack? How many rapes DON'T we hear about? Is this what the planning board envisioned in it "urban development?" I hope not! Getting back to cameras over problem areas in Nyack. If someone wants to smash a window, make THEM pay for it, not the shop owner. I talked to one proprietor, he told me his window had been broken so many times that he moved. Did the owner of the building pay for it? NOPE! So the people who want to break up Nyack should be help accountable. The only way I see we can do that IS to have cameras. Nothing else has worked thus far, right?

Nyack need to use its water front more!

Nyack uses street fairs to raise extra monies. It is also a tourist attraction. If you live here like I do, you might start to wonder why we have them at all? Many local businesses LOSE money on those days. Perhaps SOME restaurants make money like the Pizza places. The clientele aren't the type that go to fancy eateries. So all that Sunday Summer and fall foot traffic is lost for local business owners. It really pisses them off and I agree with them! Apparently no matter how hard they protest the street fairs (or lack of logical parking), their voices fall on deaf ears. I do have a solution for our Major Jon Shields. Why not make the street fairs part of the restoration of Memorial Park? Now there is a good idea! Put the Street Fair IN the PARK. Traffic flow would ease during the fair. It could be a lot more self contained as well. If you look at our streets after a fair, they are a mess! The park would be easier to clean after everyone goes home. The local businesses would thank they Mayor for restored customer base. The most annoying facet of street fairs, is that they congest traffic in an already problematic area. So why not have the street fairs down at the park? The kids can also play at the public built playground. In addition the Mayor could show up have a raffle to raise money(and awareness) about the potential of our waterfront. It has really been untapped for a long time.
In the future Nyack could water front revival. New place for kids to fish.

Also with gas prices spiking and the Bridge falling apart, aren't Nyack commuter mad they can't even get on the ferry here? Perhaps Nyack's Mayor should think about that as well? It is time for some major changes around here. It is obvious to me that Nyack is undergoing growing pains. We need to think about using our water front for all of Nyack's kids as well as an option to The Tappan Zee Bridge. It is just logical. We should use what we have. Nyack has made many mistakes in the past. Let these not be among them!

न्यैक

Technorati Profile

Nyack, NY

Well my town has a hell of a lot going for it, yet the board running our little village seems to go out of its way to screw things up totally mess up simple things. Take parking for example. ALL the business have begged the town to put up multi-level parking(MLP). People would be able to easily park. The parking should be there, right? I mean to start a business in Nyack, owners have to shovel up a bundle of cash for parking. So where is it? It is just a fantasy. I always here that "it isn't our towns position to build MLP." So why when other mayors who wantedd to have it, never got it? Well it's simple. Our town has a small band of wacky would be "revolutionaries." More like cry babies. A small band of angry people who THINK they know what is best for our GROWING town? Come on, it's isn't 1968- it's 2008. Every business owner I talk to WISHES we had MLP! There are also several points to made about "better" parking. For one thing MLP would be much safer. We could have town employees making sure things were safer for women walking to their cars alone; it is just a fact. As of now, there is nothing safe about our parking for women. More organized parking could also be put into affect. Traffic flow could utilized. The parking now is moronic. Inserting your quarter into a slot, you are given a slip of paper to install in your window. That is two trip to your car which to me seems really dumb. As well as adding a dollar, buying your "token-paper", but alas getting no change?
Wow what a great deal for the town. Not so great if you are parking. Many tourists come here and I have to help them with this spitting cobra. Often adding, "this really sucks!" Yes it does, I whole heartedly agree! Things don't seem to be changing anytime soon friends.

Another thing that really irks me about Nyack is the fact that the board rejected 5 million from Rosie O'Donell, to rebuild a theater for ALL the kids around? Again the people and parents LOSE again in Nyack. With a friendly board like this, who needs enemies?

Welcome!

Tell us the best things about your town and the worst.
