We spent yesterday working on our latest top-secret project. Can't reveal too many details yet, but suffice it to say that 1) it was fun 2) we solicited the help of Ms. C (aka B-Lister Jen Colasanti) and her wonderful OBHS drama students. I've already said too much, but here's a sneak peak:

No longer in the works: Baby Stein, who B-Lister Mike and his wife welcomed into the world earlier this month.

Curious Savages

Because we never forget where we came from, we'd like to remind the theater world that...

The Old Bridge High School Drama Department is presenting their fall comedy, The Curious Savage by John Patrick.

Performances will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday November 29, 30 and 31 at 7PM. Tickets are available at the door at Old Bridge High School.

Please come out and support the hard working students of OBHS while enjoying this heartwarming comedy. We have it on very good authority that the stagehands will not be going on strike.

...Since our last episode

It's been a while since the last blog post, but here are some updates from the world of the B-List:

Those of you in attendance at "No Refunds" undoubtedly noticed the advanced state of knocked-upedeness of B-Lister Anna Acquaviva. We're pleased to report that just three days after the show, Anna gave birth to a healthy baby girl. We're all extremely excited that Anna and her husband have made another contribution to The B-List: The Next Generation.
A few weeks later, Dan Strafford finally decided to make an honest woman out of fellow B-Lister Kim Conzo. Kim accepted Dan's ingeniously executed marriage proposal in the middle of Times Square, much to the delight of the assembled crowd of street people and striking Broadway stagehands. Congratulations Kim and Dan!

More updates to come as we continue our plans for future endeavors!

"No Refunds" Results

The numbers are in and over 110 people attended our "No Refunds" show last night!

The show was a benefit for the Old Bridge High School Theater Arts scholarship and we're pleased to report that we raised approximately $500 for this worthy cause. The plight of the talented and dedicated drama students at OBHS is truly one of the great tragedies of our time: many of these students do not have access to the works of the great dramatists and believe that August Wilson is the brother of Luke and Owen.

Seriously, they are wonderful and we're happy to support them in any way we can.

Indeed, it is our hope that our efforts will enable these young people to further their theater educations so that they may become enlightened and erudite members of the artistic community and, consequently, not wind up performing in a silly improv group with their classmates ten years in the future.

Countdown to showtime and directions update

At the time of this writing, we've got exactly 24 hours to go until our big show to benefit the Old Bridge High School Theater Arts scholarship.

As group member Dan pointed out, the original directions link on the Shows page had the high school pinpointed somewhere in the middle of woods. We've updated the link on that page, but to repeat detailed directions right where everyone can see them:

When you reach the school, proceed all the way down the entrance drive until you must turn left or right. Turn right and proceed around the periphery of the building until you reach the parking area adjacent to Door #23. Park here and enter through this door.

We'll see you all tomorrow night!

Actober honors for Mike and Brian

B-List members Mike Stein and Brian Alspach received an unexpected honor last night.

Along with friend of the B-List Joe Pisapia, Mike and Brian collaborated on a video for Major League Baseball's Actober contest, which sought fan-created reinterpretations of classic post-season baseball moments.

Between innings of the ALDS Game 4 between the Yankees and Indians, Mike and Brian's video, "Everyone Needs a Little Jeter" was shown on the Yankee Stadium Jumbotron for the Stadium crowd of 56,315!

Addition to our 10/19 show

It gives us great pleasure to announce an addition to the lineup for our 10/19 show, "No Refunds." Variety entertainer (and Old Bridge High School alumnus) Dave Smith will be opening the show!

Dave is based out of Philadelphia and has been performing his entertaining, hilarious and slightly disturbing act to the delight of audiences for over ten years. You may have seen him on the first season of "America's Got Talent," in his recent show "Confessions of a One Man Sideshow," which played in the Philly Fringe Festival or as Big Daddy in OBHS' 1996 production of "Sweet Charity."

As a reminder, the show will take place at 8PM in the Old Bridge High School TV Studio. A suggested donation of $5 is appreciated and benefits the Old Bridge High School Theater Arts Scholarship. More information is available on the Shows page.

Welcome, fair visitor, to the brand-spanking-new, online home of New Jersey's newest comedy sensation: The B-List. We are a group of old high school friends, organized by our former drama teacher, dedicated to all manner of comedic diversion, including improvisation, sketch comedy and multimedia content (e.g. music, video and ornate wood carvings).

This site is, itself, a work of improvisation, so check back frequently as new material is added and old things are improved upon or treated to a merciful death.

Currently, we are working on our new show, cautionarily entitled "No Refunds." Check out the "Shows" page for more information.
