Salman Khan to join Anna Hazare’s campaign

Salman Khan’s bodyguard allegedly thrashed an anti-corruption activist, who wanted the actor to join Anna Hazare’s campaign against corruption. The actor had to face heat when a police complaint was filed against him.

According to sources, Salman was returning from an event when activists of India Against Corruption approached the superstar to lend his support to the cause. However, the members of the Jan Rajya Party (Anna’s allies) were in for a rude shock when they were man-handled by the bodyguards of Salman.

Founded by the ex-IITians group, the President of the Jan Rajya Party, Deepak Bharat said, “His bodyguards hit us as soon as we moved near his vehicle. We just wanted to present him with Anna ‘topis’ and have his autograph on anti-corruption material. There was no provocation.”

Eyewitnesses said, “Salman`s bouncers manhandled the activists when they approached his car. There was no provocation except the anti-corruption slogans the group was raising,” said an eyewitness.

A police complaint was filed against Salman when his bodyguards allegedly hit Jan Rajya Party’s general secretary Omendra Bharat, who fainted and fell on the ground.

Omendra said he filed a police complaint against the actor and his bodyguards for manhandling the activists when they tried to present Salman an Anna ‘topi.’

Meanwhile, investigating officer Upendra Singh Rathi said that police have registered the complaint and they were investigating the matter. “Necessary action would be taken if the charges are found to be true.”

Bipasha Basus casual dinner with Shahid Kapoor

Lone ranger Bipasha Basu and lovelorn Shahid Kapoor are making the most of their ‘single’ status.Buzz has it that the couple recently met over dinner and was heard talking about working in a film together soon.

On Saturday night, Bipasha and Shahid were spotted having dinner at a swanky Bandra cafe with director Siddharth Anand and his better half Mamta.

Apparently, Siddharth is a close pal of Ranbir Kapoor and has also worked with Bipasha in ‘Bachna Aye Haseeno.’ So far, Shahid and Siddharth had never worked and were seen bonding at the dinner.

Apart from casual conversation, Shahid, Bipasha and Siddharth discussed the possibility of doing a film together.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Bipasha is really fond of Siddharth. She wanted him to come for a casual dinner with Shahid. They were joking around and having a good time. Shahid was quite interested in discussing the possibility of doing a romantic film with Bips.

A few months ago, there was buzz that Sid wanted to remake the Tom Cruise film ‘Knight and Day’ with Shahid and Priyanka for a leading production house. However, the project never took off.”

“The conversation wasn`t seriously about work. The motive behind the dinner meeting was to catch up, but they couldn`t help discussing working in the future,” added the source.

Shahid and Bipasha were last seen together in ‘Shikhar’ (2005), but the duo wasn’t cast opposite each other.

Aamir Khan suggested Anna Hazare’s team

In what looks like India’s second freedom struggle, Anna Hazare stands adamant on his stance against the ongoing anti-corruption movement.

As the 74-year-old crusader’s indefinite fast enters the 10th day, what came as a surprising revelation from a member of Anna’s team is that it was actor Aamir Khan, who had suggested them to strike residences of the Members of the Parliament.

Though the perfectionist star hasn’t made a public appearance at the Ramlila Maidan as yet, he has been in constant touch with team Anna and has also been giving them suggestions with regards to the movement.

Talking to a daily, a Team Anna member said, “It was Aamir`s suggestion that we should get individual MPs to take a stand. We have only made a call.

It is the people who are taking this forward by voluntarily raising the issue with their MPs across the country.”

Khan has been the first from the film industry to express his solidarity with Anna and his movement.

He had expressed his support to Anna in writing and had also sent a letter to Dr. Manmohan Singh, requesting him to consider Anna’s appeal.

Aamir is also of the opinion that the Prime Minister should come under the Lokpal Bill.

Salman Khan as brand ambassador of Indian Railways

Given Salman Khan’s love for rail gaadi, the Indian Railways are planning to rope in the megastar to bring about a much needed face lift to one of the biggest transportation system in India.

Action superstar Salman Khan is often seen running, romancing or beating the pulp out of baddies against the backdrop of our very own Indian Railways, so the top officials of the department are reportedly contemplating to ask the star become their brand ambassador.

A source close to Salman revealed, "The Indian Railways is used as a mode of transport by a very large number of population.

And, as a star, Salman has a huge appeal among the masses. So it`s a perfect brand fit.”

"His movies like ‘Tere Naam,’ ‘Wanted,’ ‘Dabangg’ - all have important scenes in trains or railway platforms," the source added.

However, Salman’s business representative was very evasive about the deal. On contacting the rep said, "It`s too premature to talk anything about it right now."

The Indian cricket team is getting brickbats after it lost its World No.1 Test crown to England. But Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan supports the team, saying that writing them off completely after the loss is a ruthless way of dealing with the situation.

’For years and till not too far away, our cricket team and its captain (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni were the masters. One loss in England and suddenly they are incompetent. People reaction is as subtle and as ruthless as this,’ Big B posted on his blog Bigb.bigadda.com.

’It requires immense acumen to be where they put you and in some manner to maintain it. Some understand the futility and the improbability of the situation and reconcile to it. Others and many others do not. Once there, they believe they are there and nowhere else. This is not entirely an adverse situation.’

Sounds exciting, right" Yeah, and guess for which project" Well, it s Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor s forthcoming movie Body Guard , which have been in news for some time now.

Our birdies found out from sources that British hot beauty and Salman s ex, Katrina Kaif will also feature in the most awaited movie. But let we tell you it s not for a full length role.

In fact the actress will only be seen in a blink-and-miss role. Salman who plays the title role is said to be bodyguard for Katrina, who will appear for a scene in the movie as herself.

Yeah, so that means one can look forward to see this ex-couple, Salman and Kat, together on the screen.

Hmm already they are doing YRF s movie Ek Tha Tiger , but before that with Bodyguard looks like one can have a teaser of the two together.

Body Guard is produced by Salman s sister Alvira and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and is being directed by Siddique who directed the original, Malayalam version.

The movie is expected to release some time during the festival season of Eid-Ganesh Chathurthi.

Bihar Chief Minister to watch Amitabhs Aarakshan

Apparently, it has emerged that Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar is a big movie buff and recently, the politician expressed his desire to watch Prakash Jha’s ‘Aarakshan’ in the company of Bollywood’s greatest actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Nitish Kumar reportedly is an ardent Big B fan. So, when the CM was requested to attend a special screening of ‘Aarakshan’, he said that he would like to watch it in presence of actor Amitabh Bachchan and director Prakash Jha.

Talking to a daily, Prakash Jha shared, “Nitishji, who is a very dear friend, came to visit a new restaurant at my shopping mall in Patna. My representatives there invited him for a special screening of ‘Aarakshan’ on my behalf. He made it clear he would watch it only in Mr Bachchan and my presence."

It was learnt the moment Jha conveyed minister`s request to the actor, Big B immediately agreed to fly down to Patna for a day despite his busy schedule. His travel arrangements to the city are currently being made.

‘Aarakshan’ revolves around caste-based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions. Besides Big B, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpai and Prateik.

Talking about the CM, a source said, "The last film he saw was ‘Raajneeti,’ and he loved it. He expressed a desire to see the films as this too has a strong political theme.”

Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt in Bigg Boss 5

For the first time, popular reality show `Bigg Boss` has roped in two Bollywood actors to host the show. `Dabangg` star Salman Khan and actor Sanjay Dutt will come together to host the fifth season of `Bigg Boss.`

The show is expected to go on air in October. "Over the last three years, Colors has taken `Bigg Boss` to newer heights of entertainment and popularity. Now, with both Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt as hosts, we are sure that the appeal of `Bigg Boss- season 5` will touch unprecedented heights," Head of Programming, Colors, Ashvini Yardi said.

Salman, who had hosted the fourth season of the reality show, is the only celebrity, who will be hosting this show for the second time.

`Bigg Boss` is a reality show where celebrity contestants stay in a house for about three months, cut off from the

outside world. They are overseen by a `mysterious person` known as `Bigg Boss`.

The first season that kick-started in the year 2006, saw actor Arshad Warsi hosting the show, followed by actress Shilpa Shetty. While, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan hosted the third season, the fourth one was hosted by Salman.

Raj Thackeray to hold a special screening of Singham

`Singham` starring action hero Ajay Devgn is all set to hit the theatres this Friday. Devgn plays a Maharashtrian cop in the Rohit Shetty flick and it seems this has prompted MNS Chief Raj Thackeray to ask the star to hold a special screening of the film before it’s day of release.

Talking to a tabloid, a source confirmed the news and said, "Raj Thackeray wants to watch the film, and Ajay is trying his best to arrange a special screening for him."

Ajay plays Bajirao Singham, an honest police officer who is hell bent on resurrecting the deteriorating socio-political situation despite opposition from the antagonists.

"Since the film has really worked in Tamil, Raj Thackeray is keen to see how the janata in Maharashtra has been portrayed in the film," added the source.

The politician had previously asked Aamir Khan to organize a special screening of his adult comedy `Delhi Belly` for his friends. And the actor was more than happy to do so. And now its Ajay’s turn.

"This is not an attempt to publicise the film. But when a top politician in the city expresses his desire to watch it, you definitely have to respect that," the source said.

It will be interesting to hear Raj’s feedback after watching the film, for he will, get to see Ajay fighting corrupt politicians in `Singham`.

Akshay Kumar Can't Stop Grinning About His Students

The sporty side of Akshay Kumar is never too far from the surface. Even as the Khiladi Kumar struggles to get land allotted for a martial arts school in Mumbai, the participants of last year's Akshay Kumar Karate Tournament have just returned from an international karate championship with bronze and gold medals.

And Akshay, always the sporty star, can't stop grinning about his students' triumph.

Said Akshay, "What an absolute pleasure and honour it is. Not only have the winners of my annual Karate Tournament participated in the 12th Milo Malaysian World Championship, they have come home to India proudly carrying 2 Gold Medals and 3 Bronze... incredible achievement! This is what this is all about. Giving children and adults the opportunity to represent their sport and their country."

In all, 23 karate students between the age of 3 and 38 attended the 12th Milo World Karate Championship in Malaysia. They've returned with 3 bronze and 2 gold medals.

Says Akshay, "I am very proud of all the Indian contestants. They've made their coaches, families, country and me very proud. And they've brought hope and inspiration to many karate lovers across India. See you at my next tournament. "

Akshay now intends to carry his passion for martial arts to the next level by opening martial arts schools across the country.

Aamir Khan starrer `3 Idiots` was the biggest hit of the year 2009 and is now accessible for free on your personal computer.

The movie can be viewed on YouTube, a video sharing website, for free over a period of one month and is an initiative by Reliance Home Video in association with Vinod Chopra Films.

"VCF(Vinod Chopra Films) was keen to make 3 Idiots available to the online audiences as early as 2009, it is only now that a legitimate platform with the size and scale of YouTube Box Office has come into being.

Online Video on Demand is the way to go and VCF is happy to take a step in this direction," said Sameer Rao, CEO of Vinod Chopra Films.

Delhi Belly Special Screening For Raj Thackeray

It is one of those unbelievable news but it’s true! Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s head Raj Thackeray, who had asked Bollywood heavyweight Aamir Khan to organise a special screening of the Imran Khan starrer and “adult” rated `Delhi Belly`, is gung ho about the film.

The two biggies along with other friends walked into Ketnav theatre together.

Talking to a tabloid, a source revealed, "Raj found that many of his friends wanted to watch the film too. Hence he requested for a special screening. Aamir was too happy to oblige!"

"The actor however did not sit for the entire screening and decided to let Raj enjoy with his family and friends. They were cheering and clapping throughout the film!" added the source.

Reportedly, the perfectionist star had earlier arranged special screenings of his `Dhobi Ghat` and `Peepli Live` for Raj.

‘Dabangg’ hottie Sonakshi Sinha is all set to play Mandakini in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2’.

While the names of Katrina, Kareena and Deepika already doing rounds, it was revealed lately that Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi has bagged the plum project, starring opposite Akshay Kumar.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria are taking their time to choose the leading lady for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2’.

They want the girl to be perfect. Initially, they wanted a leading lady to essay the role of Mandakini. But now, they are considering Sonakshi Sinha.”

“Akshay and Sonakshi are already doing Shirish Kunder’s ‘Joker’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Rowdy Rathod’ to be directed by Prabhudeva together.

Ekta and Milan will obviously keep that in mind while making their choice,” said the source speaking about Akshay and Sonakshi’s on-screen compatibility.

However, apart from Akshay, the female is yet to be finalised for another hero in the film. “They are still looking for the parallel hero in the film.

Once the second actor is finalised, Ekta and Milan will take a call on who will play the leading lady,” added the source.

Karisma Kapoor To Make A Comeback In Bollywood

The ‘Raja Hindustani’ girl is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood after a long sabbatical of five years!

Lolo has signed an erotic thriller film with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt. The film is named ‘Dangerous Ishq’ and is supposed to be a 3-D flick.

A source spoke to a daily, “Lolo never really announced her retirement even after her marriage to industrialist Sanjay Kapur in 2003. Despite being busy with her domestic life and subsequent motherhood (daughter Samaira was born in 2005, son Kiaan Raj in 2010), Karisma has always had film offers.

She has remained in circulation by signing many endorsements but has now finally given the nod to Vikram`s film. His last film ‘Haunted’ 3-D did well at the Box Office. That was the clincher for her."

Karisma had been looking to return to films for a long time and she turned on many offers that where made to her. But she has agreed to choose Vikram’s film as her comeback project.

Vikram said to a daily, “When I first gave Karisma a narration, she loved the story and the script. It`s a woman-centric film and she plays the main character. ‘Dangerous Ishq’ is a thriller based on past-life regression. We start shooting in September in Rajasthan."

The actress is all excited to start working on the film come September.

"It`s a role I haven`t done before. The script is very interesting and working in the 3-D format will be a new experience for me," she said to a tabloid.

Salman Khan Editing His Upcoming Film Bodyguard

Looks like Salman Khan is fast expanding his horizons, remarks Safedi Lal as he strolls into my abode.

What are you talking about, I wonder, and he says that hunk is more than just being an actor for Bodyguard, also featuring Kareena Kapoor.

My dhobi claims to have found out that Sallu is involved in ever aspect of the film, being produced by his sister Alvira and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri.

Seems he’s so pleased with the results of the shoot that he wants to sit in on the editing also.

Apparently, the actor, who’s currently shooting for the film in Delhi, was overheard discussing with Atul how he’d like certain sequences to be executed on the post-production.

Akshay Kumars 2 Crore Fund For Karate Tournament

This October 19, the Akshay Kumar Karate Tournament will be organised for desi kids for the third year in a row in Mumbai. And actor Akshay Kumar has decided to fund the event on his own this time, shelling out approximately R 2 crore, significantly more than what he’s previously invested in the event.

Mehul Vora, tournament director and martial arts trainer to several Bollywood celebrities, says, "Akshay has agreed to sponsor the tournament this year on his own, and the expenditure is close to R 2 crore. He did this even for the first tournament that we had three years ago. The following year, we managed to get some kind of sponsorship, alongside his financial and emotional assistance, which is not the case this year." The reason the event is held every year between October and November is that the period coincides with school Diwali vacations.

"We want more kids to take up karate because not only is it a good way to exercise and keep the body fit, but it also comes in handy as a self-defence mechanism," reasons Mehul, who’s expecting over 5,000 participants for the tournament’s various competitions this year.

"The tournament is our way of reaching out to parents, so they let their kids train in karate. I’ve seen a rise in the numbers, but I’m sure we can do better." Considering that Akshay is the brand ambassador for Canada Tourism, does the duo plan to organise a competition for NRI kids too? "We can do something of that sort in India itself. But it’s too early for us to take the tournament abroad," Mehul says.

"As of now, we’re happy that a bunch of kids who’ve participated here have also represented the country internationally." Registration for the tournament is expected to start between August and September this year. Mehul, who’s also associated with Star Movies’ karate film festival, Kung Fu Fighting, met Akshay through an assignment a decade ago.

He was choreographing a couple of karate sequences for a TV capsule featuring the action hero. They hit it off and now Mehul also trains the actor’s nine-year-old son Aarav, who is currently at home, nursing an injury he sustained while training. The star’s son has a Green Belt, technically halfway through to getting the Black Belt his father has.

"Akshay is a 6th-degree Black Belt. His son will have to first get a Black Belt, which is tough enough, and then work his way towards achieving the 10th degree," explains Mehul.

"I’m not trying to boast, but Aarav has his father’s genes. He’s as focused and hardworking as Akshay. He always comes having practiced, is very particular about attendance and lives up to his father’s name."

Sanjay Dutt Excited To Work With Hrithik Roshan

Excuse moi while I check this sandesha that has just dropped into my kaaliberry inbox. Turns out to be my jasoos from Diu, eager to share with me this tiddy-bitty on Sanjay Dutt, who’s shooting there for Agneepath.

So, I’m told that the actor is looking forward to the arrival of Hrithik Roshan, who’s going to resume shooting for the film later this week.

My informer adds that Sanju’s been praising Duggu’s dedication to the other cast and crew members, recalling decade old days when they worked together on Mission Kashmir.

Aur pata hai kya? Dutt, who’s training some assistant directors and production executives on fitness, is also believed to have told them to seeks ome guidance from the Roshan lad, who makes it a point to do his daily workout irrespective of how late the day’s work has wrapped up.

As for Hrithik, suna hai, he’s also as excited to work with Sanju after all these years. Kewl! I must say the bonding has already started. Hai na?

The Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan Tussle

Seems like the Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan tussle just got worse. This time, the bone of contention is a film title. Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, of Salman-starrer Lucky - No Time For Love (2005) fame, wanted the title Happy New Year for their next film to be produced by Bhushan Kumar.

Apparently, Shah Rukh asked Bhushan to change the title after he learnt that Vinay and Radhika, friends of the Dabangg (2010) star, wanted to direct it.

However, Vinay isn’t amused. "We asked the producer to get us the title, but it belongs to Shah Rukh. I don’t understand why he can’t give it to us. I know he’s not even making the film anymore," says Vinay, according to whom Happy New Year is perfect for their film, which is now called I Love New Year.

"Farah (Khan) was supposed to direct Happy New Year, but as far as I know, she isn’t working with Red Chillies any more. If SRK isn’t making it, he should give us the title." Besides helming Lucky, Vinay and Radhika have worked with Salman in a few songs for Dabangg too.

"He is our original hero, and will always be a special person and mentor," says Vinay, whose film I Love New Year, starring Sunny Deol and Kangna Ranaut, will coincide with the release of SRK’s Don 2.

"We didn’t plan it on purpose." Ask him if he feels all this title trouble taking place is due to apparent problems between the two Khans and he smiles, "Maybe. I don’t know if personal issues can really affect professional decisions."

Pop Singer's Shakira Date With Bollywood

For Shakira fans, this news promises to be exciting. Although the singer’s date with Bollywood has been going awry for some time now, debutant actor-producer Sachin Joshi insists she might still be crooning for his film, Azaan, soon.

"But I think I should comment on it only when the deal comes through. Although other producers have also talked about roping in Shakira for their films, she has always been my first priority since the inception of Azaan. And I am very hopeful about roping her in. The deal should happen," says Joshi.

For the uninitiated, Azaan, a film that marks the debut of gutka baron Jagdish Joshi’s son Sachin, also stars Playboy model Candice Boucher. Last year too, there were talks about Shakira singing a cabaret style song with Latin influences under composer duo Salim-Sulaiman’s guidance. But the deal apparently fell through.

"We are constantly in touch with Shakira’s team and are in the final stages of negotiations with her," says Sachin, who shares screen space with the South African model Candice in the espionage thriller. But Sachin rubbishes talks that Candice will be seen in a sultry avatar.

"Director Prashant (Chadha) felt that she fit the part. Candice doesn’t have any acting experience but she’s done a stupendous job. Just because she is a Playboy girl doesn’t mean that we’d ask her to expose without any reason. She looks beautiful in the film," he says defensively.

Excited about his maiden outing as an actor, Sachin says, "It was an awesome experience to work with a foreign crew. After all, we shot the film in seven different countries." Will good friend Shah Rukh Khan pitch in with tips? Sachin smiles: "He has always been very supportive. I have kept him updated about my film and I hope he likes it in its final form."
