Iron Design, the State of Designs closing extravaganza took place on Friday night at the BMW edge. Inspired by the Japanese cooking competition, competitors from different Melbourne design agencies were pitted against each other in what was described as “a pressure cooker style design-off” where teams are given three words which they then must translate into a visual response to the State of Design Festival’s theme ‘Sample of the Future’. This proved to be a very difficult task, especially when some of the key words included such gems as, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Moscow and Virgin.
