Firstly I’d like to say thank you to everybody who has supported the site over the last 18 months. I’ve met some really great people from all over the world!

Unfortunately, although  the free version of WordPress (which runs this site) is a fantastic system their ban on using anything other than basic HTML coding has become very restrictive, and all of the paid upgrades I have needed to add have meant that the site has become very expensive to maintain (approx £100 per year – and with the WordPress ban on advertising I have no way to recoup any of these costs). To this end, sadly ‘The Impossible Princess’ will not be returning. However….

I am in the process of building a bigger, better site which I am hoping will be on-line by the end of the month.

Here’s a quick sneak peak of the site so far!

Earlier in the week BBC1 documentary Queens Of British Pop celebrated female stars that have taken us from post-punk to The X Factor and their impact on the music scene. The programme focused on six artists, Annie Lennox, Alison Moyet, Geri Halliwell(?), Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and of course, Kylie!  Keep reading to watch their Kylie profile.

Kylie – A Queen Of British Pop

Earlier in the week, Kylie added another comedy cameo to her CV with a guest appearance on the new BBC3 sketch show Horne & Corden. With some great previous comedy appearances under her belt, on shows including The Vicar Of Dibley and Kath & Kim, I was looking forward to seeing what the guys would do with her.  Keep reading to see what you think.

This week’s edition of Australian magazine New Idea includes a two page spread of photos from Kylie’s recent holiday in Queensland with boyfriend Andres Velencoso. During the trip the pair met up with Kylie’s parents who joined them for a relaxing break that included golfing at Palm Cove and scuba diving at Opal Reef.

You know things are getting serious when you finally meet your partner’s parents. So superstar Kylie Minogue’s hunky Spanish boyfriend Andres Velencoso must be one happy man!

Last week Kylie and her model man jetted to Queensland for a holiday that doubled as a chance for Andres to hang out with Ron and Carol Minogue. Kylie’s mum and dad joined them for a break that included sightseeing, golfing at Palm Cove and scuba diving at Opal Reef near Port Douglas.

The pair have been dating for only six months and friends say Kylie was hoping her parents would give him the thumbs up. Luckily he was a big hit, with a friend of Kylie’s saying, “Ron and Carol were very impressed. Kylie’s friends and family are concerned some guys might want to be her boyfriend just to further their careers, but Andres seems genuine. “I haven’t seen Kylie this happy in ages.” the friend says.

The 31-year-old model also met Kylie’s brother Brendan and Andres clearly passed a big test. “Kylie is so close to her family,” her friend adds. “So now she knows they approve, her relationship with Andres will only get more serious!”

The first glimpse of Kylie’s new promotional campaign for Spanish jewellery designers TOUS has been released. Entitled ‘Kylie’s Party’ and shot by Ellen von Unwerth at the Le Maurice hotel in Paris, the project emphasises Kylie’s bid to work outside of her safety zone.

In the May edition of British ELLE magazine, Kylie talks to Craig McLean about – amongst other things – the effects that her cancer treatment had on her body, the prospect of cosmetic surgery and her wish to return to the stage.

On the prospect of cosmetic surgery;

I’m definitely not one of those people who says, “You shouldn’t do this…” everyone individually can do what they want.  I also think that it doesn’t have the stigma that it had when I was growing up.  For all time women have wanted to, for the most part, look their best.  It’s just that what we have available to us today is… what it is today.  And if you want to take advantage of it, yeah.  But I’m fine.  For the moment. But we’ll see.  I’d like to think that I would go through life without having any of that. I’ve tried Botox, I’ve tried all… ?

On her move towards a more natural look;

Recently I’ve done very few shoots where I’m just being … me.  It’s not stage costumes; perfume shoots are so formulated.  This (photo shoot) was really nice.  And I’m starting to open up to different people these days.  That’s a new thing.  I feel ready to roll with other suggestions.  My foundations are stronger, so reaching out now feels like the right time.

In the past few years I got more and more closed.  It was protection mode.  Even before I was ill, I remember being at a shoot and I had a meltdown in the dressing room – a panic attack.  It’s hard to explain, but when you’re the focus of attention, and everything is coming at you.  Being in a not 100 percent state, it was too overwhelming.  So, yeah, my comeback was very gentle and closed, with the people that I know and that I can trust.

On dealing with the weight gain that was caused by her chemotherapy and subsequent convalescence;

I’ve got fat ankles under these boots.  But I think my body in many ways is better now for having weight on it.  When I look back at some pictures, especially from before I was diagnosed, I just think, “That’s too thin, that doesn’t look good. That doesn’t look right.”

My face has changed.  Everything’s changed. It’s coming back to normal more and more… Whatever normal is. New normal.

On her wish to return to the stage;

I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I guess the terrifying part is, what do you do?  I’ve done so many – well, not too many, but I’ve had my share of – dud films and I don’t want to do another.  I would like to do a straightforward drama, almost pick up where I though I was going [in my career] so many years ago.  The other thing is a musical and I’ve got the feelers out.  That will happen, by hook or by crook.

Kylie has been confirmed as one of the headline acts at this years Mawazine Music Festival held in Rabat. When Kylie takes to the stage at 10:30pm on the opening night, she will be the first artist to perform on the new Olm Souissi stage which has been especially designed to cater for the larger audiences that are drawn by top bill acts.

The festival, which is now in it’s eight year, runs from the 15th to the 23rd of May and takes place on a total of 9 stages spread across the city of Rabat. Alongside a host of African and Moroccan artists there will be several other big name international acts at the event including Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys.

Entry to the majority of the festival is free, with limited front of stage tickets available to buy for some of the larger events. For more information about Kylie’s appearance at the festival, you can check out the official Mawazine website HERE.

Kylie is going to be on the cover of the May edition of British ELLE magazine, which comes out in the first week of April – I’ve never understood that?
