(Finished October 17th, 2026) Part 1 of Pump Up The Jam Songs, Let's Go Cougars!!

2026-10-17T15:18:46.542-07:00

Hello,

Today at 5:30pm my #8 BYU Cougars welcome #2 ranked Notre Dame. I haven't been this excited for a game for a long time. I'm not going to lie I think Notre Dame is going to win this game, but you never know. That's why they play the games.

More pressure to win is on Notre Dame than BYU. BYU is the home team, that and the altitude will give the Cougs an advantage in regard to those things.

These are songs to pump up the Cougs to get that program defining win. A lot of these songs are songs I've loved for a long time. However I went to several other lists and was able to get additional songs. That's too many other websites to thank. This is one of the sites: https://recording-history.org/hype-songs/

On this blog I will post songs from "Siamese Dream" and "Adore". I will also post "Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts" all by itself.

(Finished October 2nd, 2026) Part 1 of 4 Greatest Country Songs of 1990-1993

2026-10-02T22:09:10.900-07:00

Hello,

I watched the Kurt Warner movie "American Underdog" tonight. It's a great movie and it's such a heart warming, unbelievable, in overcoming all odds just to reach your dream. He literally won a Super Bowl in his first season as a starting NFL quarterback. Trent Green had to be injured for him to get his chance, but when he got that chance he took full advantage of it. He had learned earlier to always be ready. Honestly I thought I would be crying in this, but I did not. If they would have played the emotional aspect more I would have cried like a baby.

The first part of this movie is set in the early 90s and a few of those songs are in this movie. 1990-1993 had so many great country songs that I wanted to publish a few blogs about that amazing music.

1) Clint Black "Nobody's Home":

2) Travis Tritt "Anymore":

3) Reba McEntire "Rumor Has It":

4) Alan Jackson "Chattahoochee":

5) Mark Chesnutt "Your Love Is A Miracle":

6) Alan Jackson "Midnight In Montgomery":

7) Patty Loveless "Chains":

8) Alan Jackson "Dallas":

9) Tracy Lawrence "Alibis":

10) Dwight Yoakam "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose":

11) Brooks and Dunn "Boot Scootin' Boogie":

12) Wynonna "No One Else On Earth":

13) Billy Dean "Somewhere In My Broken Heart":

14) Randy Travis "Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart":

15) Brooks and Dunn "My Next Broken Heart":

(Finished September 29th, 2026) Part 12 of the Definitive Songs, Albums, Soundtracks and Musicians of the 80s: The Albums That Built The 80s

2026-09-29T03:41:21.015-07:00

Hello,

These blogs are out of order because I have two different blog series. The first is the definitive songs of the 80s and the second is the best songs of each year 1980-1989.

I have nothing to do with this Kickstarter project, I'm not even a backer. Of course I would love to see this movie but it's not important enough to me that I'll contribute to it.

What does it take to have the most and best representative music of the 80s? There are several groups that need to be represented. We need at least one song by Madonna, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Def Leppard, INXS, U2, Elton John, Billy Joel, Journey, Styx, Billy Idol, REO Speedwagon, The Smiths, The Police, Sheena Easton, The Thompson Twins, Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, Guns N' Roses, ZZ Top, David Bowie, Tears For Fears, Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston, Foreigner, Heart, Bon Jovi, Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Bangles, The Go-Go's, Bryan Adams, The Pointer Sisters

We need at least one song from from the genres of rock, pop. hair metal, rap, soul, new wave, also needed a quirky or goofy song or two, at least a smattering of one hit wonders

We also have to have a representative sample of the best 80s CDs: the much underappreciated INXS with "Kick", AC/DC's "Back In Black", ZZ Top's "Eliminator" and "Afterburner", Billy Joel's "Glass Houses", Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The USA", Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms", Def Leppard's "Pyromania" and "Hysteria", Foreigner "4", Peter Gabriel's "So",

We also have to have a representative sample of the best 80s soundtracks "Pretty In Pink", "Purple Rain", "Footloose", "Top Gun", "Flashdance", "Breakin'", "Less Than Zero", "Dirty Dancing", "Fame", "Urban Cowboy", "The Last Boys", Batman the Prince soundtrack, Batman the Danny Elfman score, "Urban Cowboy",

The musicians will be covered while discussing everything else. These are the best songs from "The Albums That Built That 80s". I didn't include all of those albums, just the ones I consider the best.

Ozzy Osbourne "Diary of a Madman":

52) "Over The Mountain":

I saw a few concerts back in the day at The Salt Palace, but I didn't see Ozzy. 53) "Flying High Again":

54) "Believer":

1982:

Toto "4":

55) "Rosanna":

56) "I Won't Hold You Back":

57) "Make Believe":

58) "Africa":

59) "Waiting For Your Love":

Asia "Asia":

60) "Heat of the Moment":

61) "Only Time Will Tell":

62) "Sole Survivor":

63) "One Step Closer":

(Finished September 27th, 2026) Part 4 of The 17 Most Intriguing/ Interesting CDs of the November 2025 Classic Rock Magazine: The Cardiacs "LSD"

2026-09-27T16:20:57.705-07:00

Hello,

My favorite magazine currently is Classic Rock. I love how many great articles it has and it has the best review section of any magazine. Also it's supposed to be a monthly magazine, but it feels like I get an issue every three weeks. These are the 15 most intriguing/interesting CDs/DVDs.

I'll be using the current tracklists, rather than what the tracklists may have been November of last year.

I know if you click on the play button the videos don't play. I hate when a song/video only has one picture for most of the songs. Since the videos don't play I try to vary the picture from the video. There aren't a lot of choices for this particular CD. For this blog specifically I varied those pictures as much as I could.

I'm not sure what Classic Rock magazine but I think this CD is terrible. I mean there are a couple of decent songs but for the most part it's a pretty forgettable CD.

7) Cardiacs "LSD":

60) "Men In Bed":

61) "The May":

62) "Gen":

63) "Woodeneye":

64) "Spelled All Wrong":

65) "By Numbers":

66) "The Blue and Buff":

67) "Skating":

68) "Breed":

69) "Volob":

70) "Busty Beez":

72) "Lovely Eyes":

This song has several videos to choose from. I like the lyrics videos. 73) "Ditzy Scene":

74) "Downup":

75) "A Roll from a Dirty Place":

76) "Made All Up":

77) "Pet Fezant":

Hello,

It's time for a Mandatory Monday Metallica blog, although it's only mandatory on some Mondays. These are the most played Metallica songs on my iTunes. It's not a coincidence that the five most highest played songs are from The Black Album. There are from 313 related to Metallica on my iTunes. These are cover songs, original songs, live tracks and songs from The Metallica Blacklist.

Just a couple of days ago I found out that Metallica will be coming to my hometown, Salt Lake City. I bought a couple of tickets tonight. This is their setlist from their last show they played at, which was in London, England.

(Finished September 20th, 2026) Part 5 of Songs About The One Who Got Away/ Previous Loves

2026-09-20T22:16:25.051-07:00

Hello,

This blog is inspired by one of the greatest songs of all-time, Eric Church's "Springsteen", a song about a very memorable relationship that ended. There's no one like that for me, but still each time I hear one of those songs it hits me right in the feels. These songs are those we look back on with nostalgia/ feeling wistful. In other words songs like Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" won't be here. These songs are some of the greatest songs ever. Some may wonder is there a chance to reconcile? Who knows, but I'll include a few of those songs here as well. Also I'll include a few songs about relationships that should be over already.

69) Guns N' Roses "November Rain":

70) Billy Joel "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant":

71) Brooks and Dunn "Neon Moon":

I love his voice when he sings "moon" in a deep voice.

72) Fleetwood Mac "Go Your Own Way":

73) REO Speedwagon "Time For Me To Fly":

74) The Gin Blossoms "Hey Jealousy":

75) Rascal Flatts "What Hurts The Most":

76) Jim Croce "Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels)":

77) Lorrie Morgan "Something In Red":

78) Alan Jackson "She's Got The Rhythm (And I Got The Blues)":

79) The Gap Band "You Dropped A Bomb on Me":

A positive song about looking back on a former love, maybe I should say semi-positive. 80) Chicago "If She Would Have Been Faithful":

81) Blink-182 "Dammit":

82) Gavin DeGraw "Not Over You":

83) Jake Owen "The One Who Got Away":

84) Yellowcard "Ocean Avenue":

85) Cher "If I Could Turn Back Time":

2026-09-13T16:46:54.784-07:00

Hello,

This blog series is inspired by the near perfect love song "The Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera. I thought it's time to do another extensive blog series about the all-time best love songs. This is the best love songs, all kinds of songs relating to love and relationships. The sappy ballad, the falling in love/ new love song, the angry/ anti-love song and any related song that fits in between those two moods. The lust, love, hate, reconciliation, tearing apart, the sublime, the waiting, the heartbreak and anything else that goes along with our most complicated emotion.

35) REO Speedwagon "Can't Fight This Feeling":

36) Skid Row "I Remember You":

One of my all-time favorite songs and the song that has my favorite relationship advice. Also a song that will have a permanent spot on my iPod. From "Rent": 37) Cast of "Rent" "La Vie Boheme":

Mimi

Excuse me -- did I do something wrong?
I get invited -- then ignored -- all night long

ROGER
I've been trying -- I'm not lying
No one's perfect. I've got baggage

Life's too short, babe, time is flying
I'm looking for baggage that goes with mine

(Finished August 27th, 2026) Part 3 of Selected Best Songs of 1965

2026-08-27T21:32:16.748-07:00

Hello,

Let's go back and check on the best songs from 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 years. Hey and maybe even some of the best songs from 2025. 1955 was a hard year for me to find 17 songs for this blog. However 1965 is a much easier year for me to find a bunch of great songs.

1965 was known for the funeral of Winston Churchill, one of the finest leaders in the history of the world.

Also the assassination of Malcolm X, another great although much more controversial leader. In Vietnam the beginning of Operation Rolling Thunder, Also President Johnson increases the number of troops in Vietnam from 75,000 to 125,00 as the war continues to get out of hand for America. 58,000 Americans would die in this conflict, which sadly reminds me a lot of the current Iranian quagmire.

Martin Luther King's four day march in Selma, which is immortalized by the move of the same name. Also Tokyo officially becomes the largest city, bypassing New York City.

35) The Rolling Stones "Satisfaction":

36a) The Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin":

Fifteen years later Hall and Oates released their own, but not as iconic version. 36b) "You've Lost That Feeling":

37) Petula Clark "Downtown":

38) Tom Jones "Thunderball":

39) The Temptations "My Girl":

40) Gary Lewis and the Playboys "This Diamond Ring":

Hermit's Hermits 41) "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter":

42) The Supremes "Stop! In The Name of Love":

43) The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody":

44) The Supremes "Silhouettes":

45) The Rolling Stones "Get Off Of My Cloud":

One of the most iconic duets ever. 46) Sonny and Cher "I Got You Babe":

47) Jewel Akens "The Birds and the Bees":

48) The Byrds "Mr. Tambourine Man":

49) Tom Jones "What's New Pussycat":

50) Barry McGuire "Eve of Destruction":

51) The McCoys "Hang on Sloopy":

(Finished August 17th, 2026) Part 2 The 5,000 All Time Best Songs

2026-08-17T17:04:27.698-07:00

Hello,

This is exactly what it sounds like. I'll post blogs until I get to 5,000 songs, then once I get to 5000 songs I will start deleting songs to maintain 5,000 songs. I'm then going to outdo that by trying to rank all 5000 songs in order of how much I like them. I decided that last sentence is completely impossible, but I am going to try and rank the songs in someway. I thought about putting them in alphabetical order, but that would be too hard with 294 blogs.

18) Queens of the Stone Age "No One Knows":

19) Alexander O'Neal "Fake":

20) Michael Jackson "Human Nature":

21) Madonna "Crazy For You":

22) Tears For Fears "The Working Hour":
