Chatting With ... Tiffy Diamond from Cute LA

Meet LA's most adorable Filmmaker ... Tiffy Diamond. This is one super busy lady with a lot of fabulous things going on. Fortunately for me, she had a break in her schedule to answer a few burning questions that I had.

When Tiffy is not making (or acting in) films at Love.Art.Love, her production company or taking on modelling gigs - she can be found blogging at Cute LA.

Tiffy is a lover of life, fashion, glamour and all things sweet. Read on to find out where this LA girl hangs out and what she is doing on this typical Monday...

What is your favourite thing about living in LA? Do you have a favourite hang out spot?

I'm a complete LA Girl so I love everything about living here. It's so laid back and the weather really spoils you. I love the speakeasy Pour Vous. Though it's more popular now, it’s an unassuming place that when you walk in it feels like you've been transported to the 1920s. The best part about it is that in order to get in guys MUST dress up. It's nice to be in a place where you look around and all of the guys are actually living up to Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie."

How did you come up with the name for your blog?

Cute LA came to mind on a whim because I knew that I wanted to create a website about being an LA girl and things I love. Then I started modeling and doing work with companies that lead me trying my hand at fashion blogging. It all fell into place perfectly because I already owned the name Cute LA.

Are you a Summer, Fall, Winter of Spring kinda girl?

I'm 100% Summer. I love going to the beach, wearing shorts, and enjoying the warm summer nights. All my most fun adventures happen in summer.

Tell us your fashion staple of the moment?

My favorite fashion staple right now is neon blouses. I'm taking advantage of neons being hot for Spring and my favorite fashion bloggers have really inspired me to step my blouse game up.

What’s your secret beauty weapon that you can't live without?

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. It goes on smooth, it lasts a very long time and I'm not sure if others do but I use it for my eyebrows too. It's one of those things if I don't feel like wearing a lot of makeup at least I can put on some eyeliner and shape my brows with the same product.

Bordeaux or Cosmopolitan?

Cosmopolitan because if I'm having one I'm probably wearing a fun party dress.

What is a typical Monday for you?

I actually love Mondays, but that's completely because I'm my own boss. I meet with my guitar teacher Monday mornings who I love. Then I really organize for the week. Usually consisting of shifting through emails and seeing the projects we (my production company team) have to tackle. This includes casting, location scouting, scripts, pitches. Once I know what's going on I organize the schedules for all my interns. Then once that's all done I catch up on my fashion related emails, check out my favorite blogs etc.

What are the things that you are most passionate about?

I'm most passionate about film and just being happy. I'm a very positive person so I try to live my life in a stress free zone. I only do things now that I'm passionate about so that's film, fashion, creativity and showing love for my friends and followers' passions.

What is your advice to other Ladies when it comes to living the dream?

Don't tear down other women, celebrities, models etc. We're all so strong, when we support each other and show love we only help to make us all more successful. When you give, you receive. Make sure when you're chasing the dream you don't forget to help others in theirs.

Chatting With... The Wardrobe Doctor

It's always exciting when I get to chat with fabulous ladies from around the globe. Amy Salisbury, a true Melbournite and lover of fashion has always inspired me with her approach to optimum health - along with her passion for style. Amy and I did some work together last year and although we have never met face to face - I am sure one day we will. In the coming months, Amy will be launching The Wardrobe Doctor, a personal shopping, wardrobe edit and stylist service. In the meantime you can like her on FaceBook and enjoy her regular style pics.

Read on to find out her advice on basic wardrobe must-haves and healthy living.

What city are you currently living in?

Melbourne

What do you love about Melbourne? Do you have a favourite hang out spot?

Well, firstly in my opinion Melbourne is the fashion capital of Australia. It has so many gorgeous hidden boutiques dotted all over, catering for all different styles. There are amazing beaches and a diverse range of restaurants and entertainment.

What's a typical Monday for you?

Monday's are office day's which typically start with a long walk along the beach with my dog, followed by a green juice or power smoothie.

Most of the day I spend confirming the weeks appointments. Scheduling new client appointments and touching base with boutiques of current stock availability, to ensure I maximize time on any planned shopping trips for that week.

What are the things that you are most passionate about?

Helping people to feel good about themselves. Being a good mother and role model to my kid's. A living as healthy and consciously as I can.

What trends are you loving at the moment?

Loving the bold prints coming through, leopard and the classic black and white.

What do you like most about styling other people?

For me it's the transformation that takes place when people step out of their comfort zone and see dressing as a way of expressing themselves from the inside out. The self assurance and confidence I see in clients when they take that step is so rewarding and satisfying. I love it!

What are three basic items that every lady should have in their wardrobe?

A little black dress, a leather jacket and a pair of well fitted jeans.

When it comes to healthy living, what are your three key tips?

What has worked for me is doing some form of exercise every day combined with a healthy diet of lots of fresh vegetables and fruit. Do those two things and get a good night's sleep and your well on your way!

What's your secret beauty weapon - that you just can't live without?

I'm totally obsessed with Elle Bache Facetan which I used every day as a moisturizer for the past 5 years. Also, Napoleon Cheek Stain is the best for a healthy glow all year round!

Do you have any advice for us when it comes to chasing dreams?

A mentor once said to me "Do what you love,and the rest will come!"

Today I woke up and decided that I wanted to write about something a little different. Something a little bit more real. More me. Most of you don't even know the real me because I am hiding behind all the things that I think you want to hear. I am always writing about the latest trends and the perfect shoe or what product makes my hair shine. While all those things are true, sometimes I feel like writing about other things like how much weight Christina Aquilera has gained (WTF!) or how I can't believe that Rhianna got back with Chris Brown despite him beating her to a pulp back in 2009. Or perhaps I should write about the fact that even if I could afford those $1000 Saint Laurent Paloma suede and metallic sandals - one of my babies would only vomit or shit on them anyway.

I decided that (going forward) The New Lady Times is going to come with a side of "controversy". Because although life is awesome, it is not perfect - so nor should I appear to be. And besides... IFB doesn't advise against it.

This blog receives on average 100 hits per day, mostly from the USA (gasp! stats confession). The total pageviews for the month of February was 4301 (is that a lot? I don't even know?) I never really know who is reading because I never really ask. Well now I am.

Trends come and go over the years. Old trends start to come back in shape with different thoughts and points of view. This season at New York Fashion Week, the collections had a very refreshing vibe with leather, prints and bold stripes. The streets were just as lively - the color red jazzed up the outside of the Lincoln center as well as looking hot on the runway.

This Sally LaPointe look is an eccentric blend of different 2013 trends. The look is heavy which explains the lack of accessories and the simple hairstyle. This outfit has a Gothic feel and LaPointe’s entire fall collection had a strong sense of drama.

Marc Jacobs balanced the simplicity of his Marc by Marc Jacobs design with volumized hairstyles and a dazzling injection of purple. This look is very young and girly which is pretty much what Marc Jacobs is all about.

The mother of prints, Diane Von Furstenberg presented a very feminine light dress in a darker shade of red. The look was simply styled with black accessories. You can easily tell this is a DVF creation, with the print and the design itself.

This look by Kenneth Cole is young yet still chic. It reflects an exotic ladylike personality through the classy burgundy color and a touch of velvet. Yet the leather, the cut of the skirt and the hat all accentuated a younger attitude. The mix of the elements works well on the runway and speaks to women of all ages. Other colors of the Red family (like burgundy and wine) were a another clear favorite on the runway this season.

With all the different patterns walking down the runway, some simplicity in a hot color was definitely welcomed at the DKNY show. This dress defined simplicity with an edgy cut. Styled with ankle leather boots and a red ladylike bag - another trending accessory for 2013.

Let’s not forget the wild fur which is perhaps the most dominant of all the 2013 trends - on the streets more than the runway. This lovely lady wore a hot red fur coat, a more playful kind of chic. Red is definitely a timeless treat!

Chatting With .... Brittany from Torts and a Tiara

Meet Brittany, the creator of Torts and a Tiara. Stylish, cultured, educated and down-to-earth are just some of the words that begin to describe this lady. Her blog grabbed my attention last year and I often go and visit for a good old fashion girly fix. Be it a hair curling tutorial or an enchanting trip to Disney, Brittany's posts are always personable and engaging. I was ever so charmed when she agreed to feature in the Chatting With section. Fortunately for us, she reveals a secret or two - including the recipe to a swanky sounding cocktail and the hair products that get her hair to look like this...

What city are you currently living in? Do you have a favourite hang out spot there?

I currently live in Denver, Colorado. I've only been here a month, so I'm just starting to explore my new city! I've fallen in love with a hidden speakeasy called Williams & Graham. It's hidden behind a bookcase and the decor is Prohibition Era.... All dark wood, glass lampshades, and leather. The bartenders have mustaches, wear suspenders, and the drinks are wonderfully strong!
However, my most-frequented spot lately is the gym. Since my move I've been trying to get back into a workout routine. I've been loving cardio ballet classes... They are so intense, but are fantastic for my bum and legs!

You have lived and visited many cities in your time. Can you tell us which one you had the greatest love affair with?

I will never fall out of love with London. From age 6 to age 16, I traveled back and forth to London with my mother while my father worked there. I completely fell in love with the beautiful architecture, the royal history, and even the foggy, damp weather. There's such a personality to London... So proud of their traditions and history, yet they generate the latest fashion and pop culture. It's a remarkable place and I get a wonderful feeling whenever I visit.

Lets talk fashion. Who is your favourite designer? Any amazing articles from them in your wardrobe?

I am a fashion fiend... There are too many designers to pick just one! I drool over Marchesa gowns... I think they make such magical, feminine pieces. I dream of one day owning a tweed Chanel jacket. And I think Burberry has the most well-made, classic clothes. However, at my age (25), I don't spend money on designer clothing pieces because I feel my size and my tastes are still changing too much to make an investment. I do have a few professional clothing items from Theory, Trina Turk, and Nanette Lepore, but I don't own any high-end designer clothing pieces.

I do invest in handbags, shoes, and outerwear. The handbag I treasure the most is a black pebbled Hermès Birkin bag. I love its classic, sophisticated style. Plus, it was a Christmas gift from my parents so it has sentimental meaning to me.

What beauty product to you use to keep those gorgeous brown locks under control?

I swear by It's a 10 shampoo and conditioner. They help my hair color last longer, make my hair shiny, and leave such a soft, silky texture. I also think getting hair color (even if it's your natural color like mine) boosts shine and volume so much it's worth the cost every 6 weeks or so.

My favorite hairspray is probably the cheapest... It's L'Oreal's Elnett hairspray! The can looks like your grandmother's, but it works so well. It doesn't weigh my hair down and it lasts all night. It's incredible!

Cosmopolitan, all the way.

Also... I have to tell you about my new favorite drink. When I was last in L.A., my friend made me a drink with Three Olives cherry vodka and ginger ale. It was delicious!

What does your blog's name Torts and Tiara mean to you?

I started my blog as a creative outlet while I was in law school. I felt incredibly stifled in law school, and I looked so forward to going home after class and writing or filming videos about everything I loved... Cosmetics, skincare, and fashion.

I named my blog Torts and a Tiara because it conveyed those two sides of me... The studious, serious side that was studying Torts in law school and the girly, creative side that was obsessed with fashion and beauty. I guess, in a way, I still am both Torts and a Tiara... I suppose we all are!

Tell us how you spend a typical Wednesday?

I start my new job at a cosmetics/skincare company in a couple weeks, so my schedule will probably be a bit more busy and cramped then!

But right now, I have lots of free time. A typical day consists of going to the gym, working on blog posts, communicating with followers or companies in relation to my blog, doing a bit of legal work for my parents, and sloooowly decorating/furnishing my new place. If I want to pamper myself a bit, I go for a mani-pedi or curl up with a good book. I've appreciated my month off since it has allowed me to get settled and organized here in Denver!

Has chasing your dreams out to LA paid off for you?

Moving to Los Angeles was something I had wondered about and wanted to do for a long time. I knew I wouldn't be satisfied until I gave it a shot. I learned a lot about myself and so much about the beauty industry through my program at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. I think any time you challenge yourself and do something you're a little scared to try, you will grow as a person.

Los Angeles was not the right place for me long term. I missed my boyfriend, the job market was tough, and the traffic drove me insane! I took a leap of faith moving to Denver for my boyfriend, but it has worked out so well thus far. The whole experience has taught me to listen to my heart and to follow my dreams, even when they seem scary or very distant!

Do you have any advice to other ladies who are chasing their dreams?

Remember that education is never a waste. No matter how old you are or how terrifying it may seem, never be afraid to learn. Whether that be something as simple as taking a photography class or something as drastic as going to medical school at the age of 70. Don't ever hesitate to take an opportunity to learn and grow... Because you will not regret it.

Don't give up. There were times in law school when I was literally losing my hair, staying up all night studying, and feeling dead after a 3 hour exam. But I didn't give up. And pulling through something difficult made all the difference... The strength and empowerment I felt afterward was worth every grueling second. It's amazing what we're capable of if we just have faith in ourselves.

"Don't underestimate where the best ideas or the best friends can come from." I will never forget this piece of advice my father gave me on my graduation day from high school. It has proven itself to be true, time and time again. Keep an open mind and an open heart at all times... Because you never know what might come your way.

2103 New York Fashion Week Trends

Just as expected, New York Fashion Week continues to deliver some of the world’s most exciting fashion trends in the world.

Trends
There are so many interesting fashion trends to experience and it will take a keen eye to identify those trends that will last through the season. Fashion can be confusing but it doesn’t have to be. A great way to identify and understand the latest fashion trends, take a look at 5 key components. The 4 key components include color, material, fabric and style.

Color
The colors of the season are bold. This season’s wardrobe should include Black, White, Emerald Green, Monaco Blue and Lemon Zest. Make an even bigger statement, combined these colors with large stripes for a fresh 2013 Fall/Winter look. Metallic colors will remain a fashionable complement to any look. The softer shade colors are being used for mono-toned looks which introduce one color shade from head to toe.

Material
The material of the 2013 season is black, beige and white sheer lace overlays. These fabrics adorned runway pieces from top Fashion Week designers. Other eye-catching looks included leather accents, light colored denim, and lots of fabric draping.

Designer Anna Sui captured this trend with her 2013 fall winter collection. The line included soft, satiny fabrics in rich earthly colors such as burnt oranges, maroons and deep pinks.

Fabric
A very easy way to bring spark to your wardrobe is through fabric. This season’s fashion trends include printed fabrics with natural scenery. These scenery's are reminiscent of the forest, ocean, and sky. Also, many trending fabrics include large floral prints. Designers who limit their use of printed fabrics are opting for those fabrics that are textured or that feature patchwork.

The New York Fashion Week Designers all took several different directions with this trend. But, all in all Vera Wang was by far the most seen fabric of the season.

Style
Consider these key components while shopping for your 2013 wardrobe. A simple styling mix and match is all you need to refresh your look this season. The key season must-haves are leggings with multiple colors and patterns, the envelop clutch bag in bright contrasting colors, a gladiator style shoe or sandal, and layering pieces such as an asymmetric hem lined vest.

Chatting with ... Hollie from Hello Indigo

Meet Hollie from Hello Indigo (formerly Hollie Takes Notes). Hollie is the kind of girl that I would like to hang out with. I am almost certain that we would if we were in the same hemisphere. A clever California girl who drinks beer and makes me laugh. What more could you want in a lady? I started reading up on Hollie's adventures last year and have been following her ever since. What city are you currently living in?

I'm currently living in San Diego and have lived here off and on for 18 years!

What is your favourite thing about San Diego?

I love that there is so much to do. You can go to the beach, downtown, the desert, and the mountains all within driving distance of two hours or so.

Tell us your favourite hang out spot?

I like to hang out in North Park. There are so many great bars and lounges there.

What is your fashion staple of the moment?

I bought my first pair of Tory Burch flats and I wear them constantly.

Do you have a beauty product that you can't live without?

Smash Box HD Concealer and Moroccan Oil Hair Serum.

What is a typical Monday for you?

Mondays I work for eight hours, paint my nails, go to the grocery store. I usually end the night with Netflix. I'm currently loving the show Parenthood.

What do you hope to achieve this year? Personally and professionally?

I want to read 12 books or a book a month. I hope to buy a fancy camera, take photography classes, and save for a long vacation. I'm over due!

When it comes to living the dream, what is your advice to other ladies?

Never give up and stay positive. I'm not super close to living my dream but I know I'll get there because I take baby steps and stay in touch with my goals.

Dear Younger Self (+ Younger Readers)

Dear Little Lady

I may not be extremely old, but I am old enough to tell you a thing or two about life. There are some things that I am pleased that I did - and others that I wished I hadn't. So please my little darling, take these tips whilst living your life to the fullest.

When it comes to Friendships: Establish your core tribe when you are young. Be it little or big, just be sure these little ladies make you feel good about your self. Have mutual respect, copious amounts of fun and build memories that will last a lifetime. Be rid of anyone that is not true to the tribe. If they make your life miserable because of it, do not fear, the remaining members will be there for you.

When it comes to Growing Up: Don't be in a hurry to do this. Take your time and be assured that becoming a lady is just as fun as being one. Do not focus on boys as they are quite smelly and will take up a lot of your time later on in life. Do not start smoking or experiment with such things. Keep it classy.

When it comes to Family: Keep these members close even if it may not seem the cool thing to do. The definition of cool will change but your family won't. Go shopping with your mother. Rely on your father. And don't just rely on him to fund the shopping trip, but rely on him as a man. Respect them, love them and welcome any opportunity they offer you.

When it comes to Education: Go to college. Live at home, live off of your parents and just go. This will be a handy weapon one day in the real world even if you are unsure about your major. College life will be fabulous and you will acquire a new tribe or at least add to your existing one. You may even learn thing or two.

When it comes to Career: Choose something that you enjoy. Or at least in an area that you will eventually enjoy. Be prepared to start at the bottom and respect your boss. Don't be afraid to do something nontraditional, innovative or outside the box in this area. Be realistic but dream big. And remember, the more money that you earn, the more shoes you can buy.

When it comes to Relationships: Don't take these too seriously in your 20's. Be sexy and have fun but trust me darling, you will probably have a handful of boyfriends before your Prince comes along. Do not marry the first loser you fall in love with and remember the same rule applies from childhood - anyone who is too tricky, kick to the curb with your Jimmy Choo heel.

When it comes to being Social: Be a butterfly but be balanced. Be fit and be fabulous. Drink cocktails but be sensible. Watch movies, old and new, even by yourself - on date night. Just like Carrie! (Sorry Charlotte!) In fact, have a love affair with your city. Be healthy. Experience glamour. Flutter around with a positive attitude and know you will attract the extraordinary people. Just like you!

When it comes to Settling Down: Have your 20's to yourself. Do not Calm Down and Carry On until you are at least in your 30's. Babies and vomit and sh*t and commitment can wait. Don't get me wrong - marriage and babies is a feeling like no other - but don't do it prematurely or you may get the wrong idea. But do look forward to this time, it is amazing!

So it seems that the #bigwet flooding on Australia's east coast has come between me and my blog. It postponed my Outfit Posts + my computer has been sulking for days (don't even get me started on my iphone!)
