I'm excited to be using my new camera, Canon EOS Rebel T3i and the RAW image format that my previous camera didn't support. I've already taken over 600 pictures around the house and it's only been 3 days since I had it. I've been practicing, getting used to the features and software that comes along with it. I got to say, I'm loving it.

Here's a recent picture I've taken with this camera.

I have many more places I want to visit and revisit and many more pictures I've still yet to take. I haven't had the chance to get out of the house with it yet as you can see, it's snowing and it's gotten thicker.

I hope to come back soon with many more pictures and other things for you all to see.

In my last post, Photography Tutorials and Tips, which is found HERE, I talked a little about considering photography, how I started, and a website I found and learned from. In this post, I want to demonstrate one technique I learned from Digital Photography
Tips website and hopefully spark a discussion about this photo. Although I knew how to use shutter speed and aperture to create a decent photo, I had no idea how photographers managed to capture moment like this water drop. This picture took me a couple of attempts before I got anything worth saving.

The camera I used is a Nikon Coolpix P90. The following are the settings I used as well. This picture was taken around noon when the sun was shinning brightly in the sky.

Shutter Speed:1/2000 second
Aperture:F/8.0
Focal Length:23 mm
ISO Speed:400

Now, I also used photoshop to fix the color and tones, but the picture turned out pretty good. Looking at these kinds of pictures in the past, I would have thought it required slow shutter speed to capture such a moment, however, the exact opposite was the case. I look forward to taking more picture like these and testing my new found skill on water falls and water fountains.

What do you think could have been improved on this picture? What would have been worth trying? Did I do anything wrong? Anything you would have done different than what I did? Any tips for beginners out there? On the other hand, some of you might have even googled about it to learn more. Whatever the case may be, I know that feeling as I've been in both of the above positions. Being a self taught photographer,
I had no formal school education about photography or any of the techniques that professional photographers use. Mind you, I'm still learning myself.

If you are considering photography as a hobby or a career or have already begun as a beginner photographer, google is a really great resource, but if you're like me, you want the best tutorials and you want them fast. I'll provide one website that I found great help from and have learned the most about photography from this website.

Digital Photography Tips - From this website I have gained extensive knowledge on photography techniques and have been able to try them out and actually succeed. I haven't read all the tutorials, but the small portion that I did spend a couple of hours on were a great help. If you are considering a place to begin, Digital Photography Tips is one of the best I have found.

I will continue searching for beginner tutorials and post links to them for a quick reference. Do you have any preferred website that greatly helps beginners on their photography path? Would you like to share them? But, you might be wondering how all this works, where I will post my photography photos that I take, how I will show it, etc. I'll use this blog for blogging about my photography and occasionally I might display a few photos, but my main gallery collection will be held on the DeviantArt website.

The reason for this is because DeviantArt offers easier photo management than blogger does, however, I can't blog on deviantart. The link to my gallery collection is HERE. However, if you look under LINKS on the right, you will see a link to Gallery Collection. All my photos that I take and upload will be held there.

As you might already know, I'm interested in photography and look forward to learning more about it and pursuing it further. You can read the about me section to find out more. Now, most of you might be curious as to why I chose the name "Theos Agape." This name was inspired by "God is Love" because
without Him in my life and without his help, I would not have gotten where I was and I would not have had anything, including knowledge, that I have today. I thank God for it all, including all the photographs I have taken so far.

I look forward to continuing this blog and I hope you enjoy it.
