2013-03-29T01:48:00.001-04:00

Jeez, it's been awhile. I've been wanting to write here again for a fur long time and entertained the thought a billion times, but we all know procrastination is my biggest character flaw. But I randomly searched a person on google who was in my 7th class and that led to his/her pinterest which led to my recognizing the name of another person in the same class who happened to be social media friends w/ the person i'd originally googled. And when i clicked onto this other person's linkedn (i've sadly never had a career big enough to make a linkedn...i always considered it a facebook for the successful. or the movers and shakers. i don't even mover/shaker it on the dancefloor~ as i've probably already told you a million times before, i'm in the dark corner tables w/ my sister/challs/few friends/creeps/our bottles/waitwaswasitalkingabout?.....) Oh, ok. So I clicked on this linkedn which led to clicking on a blog which led to being like what the hell, mine is so much cleaner looking and so much more nylonesque. (i actually straight copied nylon's layout as far as my limited htmlskillz would allow--like up to the flash stuff). And so i found myself here.

Oh, how i've missed you our beautiful blog!!! i've missssed you and it's been so long that our pijures are outdated and i don't even do my bottom eyeliner like that anymore and i know how to highlight/contour my face like kim kardashian now!!!! i've larnt so much, changed so much, grown up so much, blog! BLAHHHHG IVE MISSED YOU!!!!

So during that blackout time between our last superficial post til today, we've: moved to Manhattan (Peas, not me), gotten hitched! (me Liz), moved into my mom's sprawlingly oversized and outdated villa (we really call it that, no joke. it's like a suuuper old Spanish style villa complete with a functioning well system and everything--we are only missing cows.) I think we've talked about the villa in older posts. I really want my mom to get rid of it and for us to move closer in town. I want to move to Buckhead but nobody in the family wants to move there but me. If i lived in Buckhead, I could walk to work like my coworker does everyday. And i could pretend to be a Buckhead Betty, complete with botox-frozen face and matching personality. I already got the disgustingly wasteful spending down. This is going to look really bad, but let me show you an example of some my purchases since December 19th. ok, nevermind. It's bad, really bad. I can't. Anyways, i need rehab for online shopping. Because I work at the mall and am in a mall like 80% of my life (411--it's my new, upgraded fishbowl--instead of bulletproof glass we have glass doors, glass walls, glass ceilings, etc), I cannot stand going to the mall on my off days. Particularly Lenox. So I've developed this godawful obsession w/ buying everything i like on every website i like, reassuring myself that I deserve it, I deserve it. Chyeah right, i don't deserve it! And I feel horrible later. And these godawful websites keep sending me emails and reminders and temptations! Between this polite harassment, my classically-Piscean addictive nature and my moderate-to-severe ADD i don't stand a crackhead's chance in Promises. But! I am a good wife. Everything is charged to my own debit. Wanna know something funny? I don't own any credit cards. Well, i have a bunch with my name on 'em but I don't use them and my husband does to make me magically have good credit. Like my very own ghostwriter. Anyway, I am not allowed to touch them. *sob. Because everything i touch turns to zero or maxed out or woops i forgot to pay that bill, ahwell! whatevs! (This is why my uncle once told my mom that i live in a make believe world.) However, the downside to charging everything to my debit is that I literally work for my wardrobe. Like, literally. I will not hesitate to spend my entire paycheck on like, a clutch or a classic pair of shoes i really love. I've always been like that. Hey! at least i'm not a golddigger! More like, i golddig myself into a big fat hole!

Look, the upside is that i will never be a labelwhore. and i would never pair two labels together. i'm sure most of y'all wouldn't either, right? as in, i will carry my prada clutch with a free people romper and busted up snow boots. i will wear my louboutins with my heathered off-the-shoulder sweatshirt dress. god, i love juxtaposed clothes. juxtaposed everything. juxtaposed people, like right now i'm obsessed with Brandi from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. her face doesn't match her sailor mouth. i am obsessed with her! she is Lisa's gangster angel sent from God who has a brilliant sense of humor. (i mean, look at how her life turned out... she is 2109123 times more famous than her no good, love-of-her-life former husband of who left her for Leann Rimes. and Leann Rimes is a straight single-white-female who wants to carve Brandi's face off and wear her around town! God has an awesome sense of humor.

Anyways, I'm really really excited to begin writing again. I feel sad when I don't have an outlet to share my thoughts and secrets. Astrid and I love to journal and we've done it for so long and not doing it makes us feel unfulfilled. :) Next week I'm taking my mom on her first trip to Las Vegas to pay my sister a visit (her company transferred her to The Forum in Caesar's Palace while her store in NY is being renovated). My mom is so adorably excited and she has NO idea what kind of shitstorm we are about to dive into. As long as we can fill our days with sunbathing and shopping, (and no gambling) we should be fine. Challs already gave her all this yongddon (playmonies) for Vegas and she's freaking giddy everyday wondering what it's going to be like and imagining all the fun stuff we're going to do. My joy has always been and will forever be my mom's happiness.

Ok, well i'm supersick so i just popped some meds and a xany cos i felt anxiety creeping in. (i get random panic attacks). Must go to bed now and try to reandersoncuperate!

bbai ciao bon nuit!

Lizcifer, gangster angel.

ps. when i'm sick i tend to watch a LOT of tv. i saw Pride and Prejudice again. And I fell in love w/ the 2005 version Darcy this time. don't know his name. and of course, who didn't love Colin Firth's Darcy? swoon. swoooooooon. I shall be your Elizabeths.

HI my lovelypets! Here are my photocandies to share... with you.

Love Letter to a Sister

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows

higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

There is no better friend than a sister. And there is no better sister than you. ~Author Unknown

She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only child. ~Barbara Alpert

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones. ~Author unknown, attributed to a 4-year-old named Lauren

A toast once heard: "To my big sister, who never found her second Easter egg until I'd found my first." ~Robert Brault

Day Five.

2011-02-13T12:17:00.011-05:00

Slowly but surely, everything is coming together. I cannot believe that within the time I've been in NY, I probably slept for a total of 6 hours. I'll sleep when I'm dead. Watch, as soon as I get to Atlanta I'll probably be completely antisocial and hibernate for a week. My body completely detests me right now. Too much smoking, too much drinking, too little eating, too little sleeping...etc. I've mutated into one of those fashion frenzy zombies. Even jacked up on taurine, my mind is fuzzy and my motor skills are slower.

But I can't complain...because I'll never get a chance like this again.

I think chance encounters are magical.  It's the forces of nature that bring people together...or apart I guess. My mom calls it "ooo-yun", or fate. I believe in the stars, I always have.

Whenever I think of the Greats... Elizabeth, Audrey, Natalie Wood, Vivien Leigh, Marilyn...I never really care to know about who they married or who they dated.  I always imagine the stories behind those bittersweet romances that led to heartaches.  Those relationships that could have been, but would never be in this lifetime.  Those "almost" moments.  Missed opportunities.  Unfortunate life timing.  Strange.

16 hour day and it finished with a practice walk through. Everything is so precise and exact. I've been thinking, fashion production is a sadistic job. All the stress and emotion that goes into producing a show is aging and basically sucks the life out of u...but. It is an adrenaline rush. I'm a junkie like that. Har har.

---------------------------------------------------------

This is what just took place.

I love that i can update u guys in realtime!  I'm sorry my days are all sort of jumbled.  My call times are either 4am or 6am and i go home at around 11pm.  I'm totally ground-lagged and hopped on uppers to keep me going.  By the way, at around 10:47 am this morning, i made eye contact w/ Anna Wintour.  she was two feet away from me and i could smell her perfume and see her aura.

12:44pm.  i'm getting into a cab at this very moment.  It's all over.  The culmination of 18 hr days for 6 straight days and the final product - a beautiful show.  After it was all done, VB asked me, "can i trouble you for a napkin or tissue?"  I replied, "Sure!" and proceeded to run in my heels all the way to the kitchen to get her a cocktail napkin as fast as possible.  When i handed it to her, she proceeded to spit out her gum.

And then she turned to me and said,

"Here, you can have that."

No, not the used napkin w/ her gum.  She handed me something else.  Inside a knitted crochet bag... a long draped gold chain necklace accented w/ white and gray stones.  Very vintage.  Very elegant.  I'm still slightly confused cos her line doesn't carry any jewelry.  Did she hand me something that someone else gave her that she didn't want?  Where did it come from?  Is it her own?  Who knows.  In a room full of press--editors, bloggers, writers, photographers, celebrities--i didn't have the nerve to even exclaim, "ooh! what's this!"  but rather smiled an understood thank you and quickly shoved it in my pocket.  But i thought it was so nice coming from someone who doesn't have to be nice; from someone surprisingly very down-to-earth.

Ps.  I forgot to mention, On Day 2, i picked up one of her hair extensions that fell on the floor!  Hilarious!

Day Four.

2011-02-13T12:15:00.000-05:00

Aaaaaaand the paps arrive...like pigeons scurring around a single breadcrumb.

I'm getting really sick and tired of wearing all black. It's partially because all of my beautiful black clothes are still in storage in la. But mostly because wearing all black is so. damn. boring...and oh so sad. Thank God my hair has a reddish shade. *whew* maybe I should go back to blonde? Naaaah. I like being a redhead.

So...I got chewed out today. It's the first time I got yelled at since I started working. Reason? I botched a Starbucks order. I felt so unbelievably retarded and dumb and wanted to burst into tears and run all the way home and cry cos I was just being careless and I should have caught my mistake. Anyway, I don't show weakness. Nope. I won't let her get the best of me. It's hilarious how sometimes bosses expect u to pull shit out of your ass...and that shit better be shaped like the chrysler building and wrapped in a large red bow covered in ruby red sworafski crystals. How devil wears prada-ish.

Day Three.

2011-02-12T15:37:00.001-05:00

All natural organic plain toasted almonds. All day long people all around me gobble them up like birds. And today, I became one of those birds. To survive, I ate the only thing I could find...almonds. They're so bland I feel like I'm eating bark off a tree like that hippie wild life man that refuses to wear shoes and eats greens and bugs.  But when the day gets hectic, there's no time to eat and u can't be picky.

I think I walked about 15 miles today.  I'm not directionally challenged but I always forget which direction is North. So what usually happens is that I end up walking about 3 avenues the wrong way, and then I have to back track...which sucks monkey balls.

There are 2 body guards today:  one blonde-hair-blue-eyed and one brown hair brown eyed. It's the durndest thing...blonde-hair-blue-eyed people kinda scare me. I have this mental picture from children of the corn and it is just plain CREEPS! The brown haired one is sooo nice though....every time I walk by, he starting singing Georgia on my mind. *blush* Don't get me wrong, they're both beautiful specimens! I mean, u kinda have to be to work as a body guard in this industry. Hotter? More biznaz. No? As sad as it is...inner beauty doesn't matter nearly as much as outer...unless you're one of those weird androg models that looks sooo gross but are "model pretty".

Today, I spent literally ALL day in a mansion/brownstone...like the ones you see in movies. The place is being rented out to do presentations during fashion week. Basically, carpenters, interiors, stylists have all been working like crazy transforming this already beautiful piece of real estate into a place u can only dream about. I never knew how huge brownstones actually were.  It almost makes it feel like it's not Manhattan. My favorite is the spiral staircase. It  is unbelievably romantic. And I digs it. Basically, every room in the house is being transfigured into specified room: styling room, casting room, changing room, production room...etc. I had no idea how much went into throwing a show. It's intense. No one has been sleeping and everyone just works round the clock. Like mutant robots...like zombies.  D-day is Sunday. And how about my call time is 4am. So I'll have to be up around 2am I guess. I'm gonna be sleeping a lot when I get back to the A.  I'm going on 1 hour fifteen mins of sleep and my fauxlashes are getting EXTRA heavy.

Aaaaand although my hours are redonk, I still end up hitting the scene to see friends. And I always end up having a great time when kickin it with Dina, Franklin, James, Gene and Hannah. At Hiro, I saw this girl straight up bust out a pipe and smoke a shitton of weed. No on seemed to care, but that shit stunk up my clothes. I ABHOR the smell of weed. Anyway, 2 days left...let's make it good!!

Astrid

Day Two.

2011-02-10T23:27:00.012-05:00

Before i recap the day, i heard some sad news about my bff Nars' mom's dog who has to be put to sleep.  It totally knocked the wind out of me.  My sister texted me:

Imagine how ums would cope if we lost Meems. She would be totally inconsolable. :( i am so, so sad for her mom.

The thing is, we all know why God made dogs. They are man's companion on earth. Our souls connect and they speak to us constantly with their eyes and furry bodies, provide us comfort, and give us unconditional love. If you're a dog owner, you know that somehow, in some strange and mysterious way, you and your dog have an understanding. And when you share those special moments with your dog, you know without a doubt that your dog has a soul. I have no doubt that when they die, they pass on to heaven. It may sound silly and Disneyish, but do you doubt it? No. I have lots of loved pets who've died throughout my childhood and teen years and i know eventually Pips will die... she's 10 yrs old in March. But it is comforting to know that i'll see her again someday.

I imagine God has a dog up there.

Love u Nars!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The accent. The damn british accent. Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE talking with a faux british accent. In my own mind, I've perfected it. I think I went an entire 3 days conversing w/ an accent. Wells at work, the designer/assistants speak with this accent. And when I hear it...I follow. I hopped into the elevator and one of the British walked closely behind. When we were standing side by side, i turned and blurted, "Halloi"! He looked at me like this: O.o I grinned sheepishly and looked down.

I find shelter in cabs. Yellow mobile fortresses that shield me from the painfully brisk air, allowing me to take a breather from a day of running around the city.   At night, i have a moment to calm the spinning after a couple drinks.

I got scared to drink last night... my call times are so early and I couldn't imagine what my day would be like hungover.  So when I got to the apartment, i had a glass of pinot noir (my favorite wine) and passed out.

Today, I morphed into Nars. I drank sugar-free red bull all throughout the day. I basically consumed anything with caffeine in it. I ate steamed veggies for my sole meal.  Speaking of which...what I've realized is that in the fashion world, a normal meal throughout a hectic day consists of grapes, cereal, non-fat yogurt and steamed veggies. Period. I get it, image is everything... and i knew this is how it is... but man.  to be immersed in this alien existence... it's a headtrip.  it's been smashed into my head how important skinniness is in fashion. It's not superficiality... it's reality.

I had to stock __'s fridge w/ grapes, grapes, grapes, fat free sliced deli chicken breast, cereal, yogurt, and that's it.  That's it!  You read the mags about so-and-so eating light dinners of steamed fish or grilled chicken breast and veggies and working out... NO.  lies.  it's anorexia at it's finest thriving in it's best environment - the fashion world.  and every day is a negative calorie day w/ the amount of working and scurrying about in 5" louboutins.

4am call time tomorrow.

Peace out, lovas.

Astrid.

Day One.

2011-02-09T23:16:00.004-05:00

My new favorite word combo:  company card.

I stepped out at 6:45 this morning and the cold brisk air stabbed me like a million steak knives.  First, to find the nearest starbucks.  Luckily there was one 2 blocks from Jung Unnie's place.  After that, it's TAKE OFF.  Fast forward cab rides, steaming $10,000 dresses, the hottest gay assistants, signing nondisclosure agreements (i can't even blog about who i'm working for-or even tell my friends and family), 4 sugar free red bulls,  anorexic 6ft mutant flawless femmebot models, "Astrid, move the dresses away from the window, i'm afraid someone will long zoom them," a delish hot blue-eyed blonde-haired body guard, endless rows of Louboutins, and countless omg, I can't believe I'm here moments.

When the whirlwind finally subsided and the glitter of the day settled to my feet, I retreated to my phone to text my loved ones about the experience and tell them all the top secrets and inside scoops.  I floated back to Jung Unnie's place and I didn't mind the cold. I didn't mind the fact that I had to sneak away earlier to wobble to cvs to buy dr.scholls cushion pads cos I was on my feet all day, nonstop...rushing...rushing...full-out running.  But nothing could ruin this surreal day.

Whenever I'm traveling, I always carry the same exact things: white blackberry with pink case Nars gave me + charger, 2 packs of hubba bubba, 1 bag of peppermints, lipgloss, itouch, moleskin, green tea bag, apple cider packets, smokes, black ferregamo wallet uncle chass bought me 4 yrs ago for Christmas, shisedo compact and anick goutal petit cherie.

Today's jams on repeat consisted mainly of old school britney.  U know, when she had a python around her neck and was skinny and sexy.  Not hillbilly and chubby like she is now.  Even though britbrit is trying to make a comeback, she'll never be what she once was. This gets me to thinking...if I'm already 26, turning 27 this year, am I never gonna get back to those old glory days?

Also, most of the freaks of nature giraffe robot looking models that came in today were 16. I mean, COME ON!!! Sixteen-year-olds, wearing 10K dresses?!  I mean, COME THE FREAK ON!!  *whispers under breath* ...bitches.  When i was 16, i was in Tommy Hilfiger mens boxers under baggy jeans.  (i thought i was in TLC or Young Turks Club).

ALSO!! I read in NY magazine the most interesting article about how mens' libidos are decreasing drastically due to the access of porn in today's society.  You can watch porn in your Samsung Vibrant at work on the pooper.  (or so i hear).  Men in their 30's have increasingly begun to see doctors cos they can't get it up like they used to. John Mayer told Playboy that there was a time where he saw 300 internet vaginas before getting out of bed at 9am. Gross. John Mayer's talent and personality are grossly mismatched.  Anyways, I couldn't put the magazine down.

Tomorrow's gonna be another dreamday. Catch u on the flip side.  I feel like i'm on a high and slowly, slowly coming down.  I feel really dorky, smiling to myself and staring out the window.  Here's the view from Jung Unnie's place overlooking the Hudson.  Romantic, isn't it?

XX,

Astrid

Written last night @ the airport....posted via Blackberry

2011-02-09T12:28:00.001-05:00

Here we go again, off to my favorite city in the world... well, maybe that's a tad exaggerated. After all, I have yet to go to Paris and become a bohemian, Marakesh to be a gypsy, Italy to be an ex-pat wino, Japan to be a harajuku girl, or Columbia to be a drug mule. So to be technically precise, NYC is my favorite city in the US.

I'm sitting inside the smoker's lounge, sipping an espresso. Ahh. Hartsfield Jackson Atl Airport. U can never do any wrong. I don't even mind getting here early!

I don't know what to expect for my trip. I've never felt so lucky in my life to have this wonderful opportunity to work with a famous designer during one of the biggest fashion events in the world. *doing cartwheels* I'm so happy and feel so undeserving.

I hope I don't catch hypothermia and turn into one of those statues on the Mt. Everest trail. (My sister would not stop talking about it for 3 days straight). I'd probably be petrified throwing up a peace sign, cigg in mouth, head tilted slightly down and to the left, and my other hand on my hip. I have GOT to pick up another pose. Every picture is always so damn exact. If I don't smile, I look scary and pissed. If I open my mouth, i look slutsome. If I close my eyes, it looks like I'm drunk and slutsome. Girls who are "photographic" are usually just girls who know the angles / lighting / that best compliment them. Like me, they pick it up and run with it. And like me, they end up looking super repetitive.

Speaking of which, I have Morrisey on repeat. His music is so feel good. It almost feels 80's pop-ish with an early 90's mellow flare. He's an old fat man... probably balding too... but I seem to have a soft spot for bald fat men. *wink*

Sooo, atlanta hartsfield is "testing" new TSA security measures. Because of all the complaints with the human x -ray scanner being an invasion of privacy, they created a new one. Instead of being able to see the actual body, they've created a generic picture of a man standing feet and arms apart. If the scanner picks up something suspicious, the suspected area of the body will turn red. Well, they made me walk through one today. I wasn't nervous cos I didn't have any drugs on me... BUT... THEY MADE ME DO IT AGAIN. I got so scared because I thought I might have accidentally left a baggie of illegal substances in my bra. I nearly had a panic attack. For some reason, my boob area kept turning up yellow! TSA made me do it a third time. I told her I have jellys in my bra and she goes, "oh, honey, that's probably what it is". After I collected my things, I ran to the bathroom to check my bra. And alas...a nearly empty baggie. I can hear my sister screaming at me whilst I am writing this. :( I know I know unnie!! Gahs! AT LEAST IT WAS PRACTICALLY NOTHING, SHEESH. FYI TO ALL THE VEGAS SMUGGLERS: DO NOT DO IT.

Call time is 730am. Gonna attempt to catch some zzz's, but I'll probably be too excited to sleep. But I must try nonetheless.

xoxo, Peas

Stay tuned for the ride of a lifetime.

I discovered a little gem today: L'arnacoeur (Heartbreaker), starring Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis.

I love the french.

Classical Music

2011-01-28T17:23:00.000-05:00

I'm sitting here w/ my sister listening to classical music.

By classical, i mean Ratatat. That's our generation's Beethoven/Mozart/Chopin. All profound and videogameytechno at the same time.

I've decided that the only person who can save me from becoming Charlie Sheen 2.0 is myself. Not cool, not cool. My body needs a break and now i'm starting to realize how people like Keith Richards can still be alive. One can survive many things.

Also, i'm going to just go ahead and post the pictures from Leonardo's bday on here. Astrid wore a satin/silk blend robe like Hugh Hefner. it was amazeballs and riDICK @ the same time.

I discovered that Maxim Mocha Gold coffee packets have 1.5 grams of fat in each. Considering i only add about 10 tbs of water to the mix, that's not enough bang for my buck (buck = fat grams). I don't want to drink it anymore even though it's deliciousness. I have a knack for restricting myself. With strange things... not always food/drinks/deliciousnesses.

Welp. I'm getting kicked off Astrid's macbook now. Time for some R&R until we close shop. MUSIC TIME! Ps. Charlotte Gainsbourg looks a lot like my friend Soymilk J. That's a compliment because Charlotte was in Jane Eyre (the good one) and she has an awesome sense of style and sings so daintily and reminds me of a daisy.

Lates. xoo.

2011-01-19T00:36:00.002-05:00

So here i am, listening to Strawberry Fields Forever and reminiscing my early 20s when i listened to music like the world was crumbling and it'd save me from drowning. My headphones would keep me afloat. I have so many photos of when i was in college and was obsessed with the color orange and dinosaurs and i liked to put on UFO's and belly tees to go to class like a baby raver. I had a clear adidas bookbag and you could see my baby blue metro PCS phone in the front pocket along with my awesome Korean .5 mechanicals. I dressed like sporty spice. sigh. Time mellows us out and borings us up. Maybe these attributes i shall pass to my children. I remember when my first boyfriend would make fun of me and call me "weird." It was a total revelation to me, because for the first time ever i felt foolish and sheepish and second guessed myself about everything because i wasn't very confident at the time. It was the first time i ever tried to assimilate and be a "normal" Korean chick. He liked dark makeup so I discovered eyeliner and kohl. He liked lacoste polos and blue jeans and Juicy Couture (which was big at the time) so that's what i started wearing. He didn't like my weird music so i felt stupid for getting him a Dean Martin album. i was just young, impressionable, a virgin, and totally wide-eyed.... desperately people-pleasing. I learned a lot from that relationship and it was my first gigantic step toward independence. It feels like a lifetime ago and i was a completely different girl. What a massive difference 5 yrs can make....

This is in front of our walkway. We're in Perimeter, right by the mall and you could do a triple salchow on Peachtree Dunwoody RD cos it was frozen solid! Insanity. Atliens are NOT cut out for this type of weather because we rarely ever see snow and when we do, it dissolves instantly upon hitting the streets. The snow is not the wacky part for us. It's the FROZEN SOLID UNSALTED ROADS. When we finally were able to walk to the market, produce such as eggs, milk, and bread were unavailable to us.

ps. i like the sound snow makes when you walk on it. it's like a squish / soft crunching sound.

watching BCS championship game wrapped in my hobbit blanket while eating cookies and Yuengling. (i don't have milk and i'm not hiking the .006 miles to Publix again, uh-uhhh.) i'm so happy for auburn! cam newton looks like a hotter, non douchey version of chris brown. He thanked God a lot and said he was "his vessel." hmm. i bet you Cam still gets a lotta college hottie coochie, tho.

VENT.

2011-01-07T00:08:00.011-05:00

12:08 am. I'm so happy that Sammy gets punched in the face in the next episode of Jersey Shore. How can a girl be THAT ugly inside and out? *golf applause* World record for inward and outward fugliness.

12:41am. What is with Taylor Swift and all the ill-fitting ice skater-y dresses? I'm sick of seeing the red lipstick. Gwen Stefani, too. Aguilera, too. Enough.

4:36pm. I feel so sorry for girls in relationships where they find themselves having to go through their boyfriends' email/phone/things or combing through other ppl's blogs because they are so insecure in their relationships. it's entertaining for me, but at the same time i find myself feeling guilty about feeling entertained and i just feel bad for them.

I also feel sorry for ppl who use other ppl as stepping stones to networking / social climbing / whatever it is they think they're doing by name dropping to other people in other states. your stock does not go up, u loser. ppl are not commodities or bargaining chips. ppl see right through you. and i hear everything and know everything you're saying (strangely, since i dont get out much). but i do. do u know how many Korean folks i know in the United States? i never vent about this sort of thing, but it's getting SO ANNOYING and it's been built up and i am allowing myself to explode. (this is why i don't say hi to certain ppl anymore.)

I abhor pathological liars. I will call you out on that freaky shit. Trust. I will also laugh at you. (and then feel bad about laughing). But i will laugh.

4:50pm. I don't mind ppl talking behind my back and calling me an alcoholic pill popping cocaine cowgirl and whatnot. Because their opinions hold no merit in the court of liz. At least i am a decent person who doesn't lie about anything and front about anything. However. It is a new year and i have given up the vices of yesteryear. Huzzah!!! Wait- except alcohol. I can't give up alcohol ~ i mean how does one do that? How is that physically possible when it's everywhere? Do u not go grocery shopping or eat at restaurants and keep yourself caged in your house (that's been cleared of cough medicine)? I feel sorry for alcoholics. i'm talking about the cats who wake up in the morning to a cold glass of vodka. It's like you don't even have a frickin chance. I heard this joke once that you never hear of alcoholics in Korea because they're all either dead or completely functional and in denial. (you can buy a bottle of soju in the 7eleven or Buy The Way for like 3 bux).

5:03pm. it's Zhee VAHN shee. (givenchy)

1:41pm. Sunday. I wish i owned a football team like Cameron Diaz.

3:00pm. My favorite accent of all time is the South African accent. It's beautiful.

5:13pm. I accidentally shrunk my sister's plain white t. OOPS. Whoever heard of a 90 dollar tshirt though? I always forget to LAY FLAT TO DRY. or Tumble Dry Low. or machine wash cold. i primarily use the washer for black tights and panties. and i've NEVER washed my bras. is that gross? it's just bewbs and i never sweat. EVER. not even in a sauna. EVER.everever.

New Revelations for the New Year

2011-01-06T17:48:00.006-05:00

i will no longer utilize facebook's status update or twitter. You, oh blog, will be the singular and entire brainwave/stream-of-consciousness outlet[mall]. At all times. pho sho. werd. not that anyone cares, but i'm just not using facebook anymore. damn skipps!

i'm sitting here watching Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam eating pho/busting a nut. i wish i could eat a huge bowl of that pho. it looks so unearthly w/ everything-in-the-kitchen-sink and all these beautiful vegetables and cow parts. and that broth. savory, sweet, sour, soosoogood i die. i want to taste that rrreeal vietnam pho that a fat ugly lady w/ no teef cooked for 6 hours. being in Perimeter, i go to dai loi. it's vair vair delish. i once went there by myself. *PROUD OF MYSELF!* anyways, so dai loi is supposedly sooperauthentic vietnamese pho (although i'm inclined to think that pretty much all pho places are run by folks who left the motherland w/ their recipes and special ingredients in tow, so it's all authentic). however, once at dai loi, i could have sworn i saw a hispanic cook. latino cooks ~ dood. come on. they are the universal cooks of the world. at every Cheesecake Factory, brazillian churrascaria, sushi restaurant, hibachi joint, ITALIAN joint, it's a hispanic cook. or the majority of cooks are hispanic. i bet if you went to France and sat down at a posh lil brasserie, you could push the door back and enter the kitchen and all the cooks would be Mexican. kinda like in Ratatouille when u enter the hustling, chaotic kitchen, it's all rats workin the line--churning out the sauces, the meats, the starches, the glorious gourmet. so. i hate cilantro in my pho, btw. it overpowers everything. i also feel sorry for bourdain at times, because i can see the childhood dorkiness and awkwardness that manifests itself on-screen in his over-culturedness/terrible dancing ability/crooked grin. and i want to someday visit Vietnam. it's drop-dead gorgeous and green, like a stalk of culantro. or whatever that stinky leaf is that they bring out on top of your mung been sprouts.

I recently got emails asking why we haven't updated in foreverandever. i'm having a creativity/humor drought. i even busted out my In Rainbows album by Radiohead. Maybe i'm falling into one of my funks again. i hate them. remember? i told you guys about those, right? or maybe it's far more superficial. like, i read laineygossip today and wondered why i can't write like that and i got all po-d to the point where i stared at my own blog and not-wrote in defiance of the fates for not gifting me w/ lainey's writing ability. The guy who writes for dlisted.com is freaking hilarious also~hates him. ugh. here's to getting my creative spurt back! in the meantime, i leave u w/ images of pho and me (both equally delish!! ??).
hugs, liz

"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day,

2010-12-21T18:26:00.004-05:00

when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"

"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Best/prettiest lip gloss ever (and smells the best, too!~ like how 2% tastes!):

Peach Water Gloss in "Ddalgi Wooyoo" #2 by Etude House. my sis says #5 "boksoongah wooyoo" is prettier.  that one's not pictured here.

Good job, Korea.

*golf clap*

BACK in a ♥ attack!

2010-12-15T16:19:00.018-05:00

can u see me peacing? hallluuuu there!!!! anyways, howdydewdy blogosphere! so it's been a long break since we spoke last; i've missed you so! we had company come and go in the form of Robbin oppa from LA who is just uber cool! he met all our friends and brought me and peas this OMAZING lipgloss from korea that makes ur lips look so plump and peachysheeny that i'd apply and then stare in the mirror in wonder and glory. He even took us to see the hawks and our seats were disgusting. he says next time he'll take us to a falcons game, but i'd probably just implode from excitement and not make it. sometimes i'd look at him and wonder, are u santa claus? we did a lot of drinkbingage and of course i hairline fractured my chin by falling on my face. apparently, i'm so talented that i can break the fall of my entire bodyweight w/ just the point of my chin like some kind of chinese contortionist ~ i just need a leotard and some balancing balls. i know i'm probably annoying w/ this by now, but i'm sorry ~ it's just that i think it's omazing how i've never actually broken anything! i always get hairline fractures (like my pinky when i played basketball once). i've decided it's due to the unbreakability of my superhero milkfed bones. i have the bones of a thick-set dwarf or michael turner. ho ho ho. (i've decided i'm sick of writing puhahaha or hahaha or AHAHAHA-for something extremely funny- and say ho ho ho. cuz my sister actually laughs like that. it sounds like oh ho ho ho~..... annoying and strange.)

What else went on that i haven't written about.... hmm...... oh! E came to visit from Ha va eee and we met up with him at Havana Club. It was crunk up in there! I think people were on E or something... on E for E! This svedish fish kept following E around also because he was overwhelmed by E's cuteness. He was slightly creepy but non-threatening being a eurotrashling. E is adorable, quick-witted, and hilarious as ever, with perfect hair and perfect skin just as i remembered him. He is still the most original and cleverest guy i've ever met; definitely the brightest crayon in the box--like hot pink. But he got super skinny(er) and i was worried that maybe he is overly working out or something. Which means Mitchy probably got Hedi Slimane skinny. After that we had to leave and go to Gold Room to say hello to Mark who was in town from LA. Honda Xmas party was superfun! i ate 79,002 crab claws and drank 4 jackcokes and a shot w/ the greasemonkeys of whatever they smuggled inside. and some patron, of course. i wore an off-white herve leger dress and covered my chin and collarbone scabs with bodymakeup and in general, felt super ladylike for once in my life! i've decided i really like having brown hair. it is not as attention-grabbing and ostentatious but my personality is not like that anyway so i'm comfy and happy! some facts bout me u may not know: i rarely wear heels and i can't really accessorize well or tote my chanel bags because i feel gaudy or something. i love red lipstick so much, but i get too shy and end up wiping it all off with a napkin. i could never be one of those bombshelly girls because i don't have the guts (or fashion sense) to be one. i get happy when ppl notice or compliment me, but i feel sick to my tummy when they do. oh well. i think that's how all of us girls are, right? we dress to impress and when it does, we're like OMG WHO IS THAT CREEP~ HE KEEPS STARING AT ME~AAAH! we girls are weird creatures fo sho. fo sho.

The one downside to having dark hair (particularly dark asian hair) is that it does not get as much volume up top at the crown like blonde hair gets and i am obsessed w/ volume and u know the higher the hair the closer to God. (Note: for volume, you have to use the catwalk your highness products: the thickening serum and root boost spray are to die for! and their shampoo and conditioner, of course.... trust me~ nothing else works better than the catwalk your highness line and i've tried everything in zeeworld.) anyways, i'll have to finish updating later coz i have to catch up on laineygossip (my favoritest site in the world). talk to you later!

Love, Liz

[edit]: ok so it's later now around 1am and we just got back from seeing Black Swan. I think i might have nightmares. :( i'm sad to admit that Natalie Portman will have absolutely no competition for the Best Actress Oscar. My poor Michelle Williams. But natalie portman.... man. What a freakin performance. She is scary perfect. and the scene where she's on mdma--that is EXACTLY WHAT IT FEELS LIKE. ha ha ha! nailed it, portman/aronofsky!

"She can rescue as many babies from as many countries as she wants to...I don't f**king believe you ... she gives interviews saying, 'I don't have a lot of female friends.' Cause you're a f**king c**t ... you're a f**king b***h."

- Chelsea Handler on Angelina Jolie (haha, i freaking love Chelsea Handler. She reminds me of my blunt girlfriends. and why do i SO agree w/ her on this one. Angelina Jolie comes off to me as someone working very hard to offset her bad karma)....

Michelle Williams Talks Blue Valentine, Meek’s Cutoff, Playing Marilyn Monroe, Female Directors

Michelle Williams has a lot going on. Not only is the actress enjoying her Indie Spirit nomination for Sundance/Cannes/Toronto fave Blue Valentine (while decrying her co-star’s Ryan Gosling’s omission), but she’s fearlessly stepping up to playing icon Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming My Week with Marilyn. She’s enjoying working with two women directors, Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Me, Meek’s Cutoff, which goes from Venice and Toronto to Sundance) and Sarah Polley (the upcoming Take This Waltz).
Clearly, this young actress is picking well, from Tom McCarthy’s 2003 The Station Agent and Ang Lee’s 2005 Brokeback Mountain opposite the ill-fated Heath Ledger (the father of her five-year-old daughter), which earned her Spirit and Oscar noms, to this year’s role as Leonardo DiCaprio’s daffy wife in Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island. I stopped by the Four Seasons with my flip cam to see what makes this actress tick. I found out, among other things, that she cries easily, once did a play with Mike Leigh, and would love to work with him again…

Here is our Sundance interview with Blue Valentine‘s Ryan Gosling and director Derek Cianfrance.

Hola! Coma estas? Bien, y usted? Muy bien, gracias! How was everyone's Thanksgavan? Mine was mas o menos. I didn't eat much because i'm having those weird appetiteless streaks where i lose mad weight. Plus, i know you cooks out there know this--but when you're the one who slaves away in the katchan, you don't feel like eating your own cooking most of the time. So i ate other peoples' leftovers. Is that sad? WUTever.

Because of this ubercold weather, i find myself breaking appointments to meet friends and putting off grocery shopping or eating out. Is this why they say that winter is the season of sitting at home, watching football, and abusing

Cuz that's what i hear. That's what a knowledgeable birdie tolt me. ahdunnoes. *shrug*
All i know is, it better start getting warmer fast because i cannot tolerate the cold. I can tolerate anything BUT the cold (tattoo needles pokin 'n shading me for 3 hours, root canal nerve pain that shoots through the entire side of your face and down your arms, bullet wounds ~ jk no bullet wounds). I remember the one single time in the history of the Life of Liz that i was so cold that i started becoming disoriented (like how they say it happens in those disaster movies like Alive-u know, that movie where their plane crashed and they et each other) and i started hallucinating and had to keep telling myself not to go to sleeeeeee~eeep.... don't close ur eyes Liz!! don't close your eyes!!!!..... This was at the Georgia Dome for the American Idol auditions. Not me, u crazies! I cain't sang worth jack! I can't even sing at karaoke when i'm drunk and get all brazen thinking i'm the fifth member of 2ne1, the OLDEST BITCH IN THE GROUP *SADFACE SADFACE SADFACE* *SOLITARY TEAR* No ~ I graciously volunteered to go with my friend Karlos to support her dreams of being a supastaaaa!! *cue molly shannon kneeling VICTORYYYY* It was about 13 hrs of Saw XXVII JIGSAW TORTURE. We shivered so hard that suddenly we didn't shiver anymore and delirium set in as we began to see rescue helicopters dropping hotpockets and hot chocolate inside the dome and ryan seacrest looked uberly hawt and the lawn was actually sand on a caribbean beach. It's crazy that Karlos was freezing because Karlos is NEVER cold since she has the blood circulation of one of those penguins in Antarctica that chills on an egg in minus 30 deg weather. it's because she is evil.
jk.
Omg. longest tangent ever. This post is actually supposed to be about interior decorating.
Moving right along...
When it comes to interior design, it's not that difficult. Simple and clean is best. Minimalism is my preference. And i love, love LOVE dividers, whether it's curtains (my fave) or bookshelves as room dividers, or actual dividers (i like the asian panel shoji screen dividers ~ tres exotica and cute-ica). Here are some pictures i've collected of room setups that i <3. i take great pleasure in maximizing the functionality and personality of a space and i like to flip through catalogs and am one of those weirdos who goes nuts in furniture galleries. remember that Ikea scene from (500) Days of Summer? ahhalmostbustedanutyo! i sometimes fantasize of hiding in one of the showrooms until the store closes and popping out when everyone's gone so i can play house. like natalie portman did inside a tent at walmart. COOOL!!!!!

ps. i want a bookshelf with a ladder. i love bookshelves with ladders. MY FAVE!!! i'd SO roll around on it and belt out a tune like Belle. i wish i could have a library!

OK WAIT! TIME OUT! TIME OUT! i dunno about this one up thurr. ^ This layout looks a lil TOO modern/contempo for me. like if i look out the window, i might see aliens or something. this is the shit that we will look back at ike, wuhhhh? *like how we look at the interior design of the Brady Bunch house (those weird stairs) and That 70s Show (the browns and greens and oranges ~everything looks like it stinks of mold and weed)...
