After months of excellent reporting on the innermost details of celebrity lifestyles, Charles...you let me down.

I’ve spent the last three days in anxious agony. The Oscars, with all the glory and glamour, have come and gone and yet Charles remains silent? What is "Three 6 Mafia" saying about Reese? Where did Jon Stewart purchase his Oscar shoes? What’s holding Dolly Parton together? Even more importantly, how does all this get nuanced into the U.A.E. ports deal and a nuclear Iran?

I would have thought we would get all these juicy details and a full explanation of why a man like Truman Capote is movie worthy. But silence? This, I cannot handle. Charles…please post an opinion, post some insider info, or at least IM me! I need the 411!

That’s right, after years of bitter partisan squabbling it looks like a beacon of reason is appearing…A third party presidency.

As the public grows weary from one shrill political attack after another and increasingly irritated by scandal and corruption, a political revolution has begun. The days of broken campaign promises and valueless turncoats may yet see an end.

OK, I admit this outlook is optimistic and a little naïve. But like many, I too have had it with the polarization of our country. Political affiliation has slowly turned into strict allegiance, and these war parties are engaged in civil war.

The thought of a McCain/Lieberman ticket as a reform candidacy is a refreshing notion. It may or may not merit my vote, but it truly is a beacon of sanity in the sea of partisan hell we call, Capital Hill.

A lesson from Jay Feely…

Jay Feely missed three potentially game-winning field goals on Sunday. Despite this disgraceful debacle, his post game performance was refreshingly mature.

Before coach Coughlin could address the team, Feely stood and said,

“I'm sorry I let you down. People are going to say it's a team game and they're going to say the right things. But the fact of the matter is that you've got to come through when you have one opportunity -- much less two good opportunities."

He may not have a job for long, but he’ll have his integrity. Let this be a lesson for everybody. When you blow it, have the integrity to take responsibility. It’s ok. It won’t kill you to be humble. Truth is, it will most likely help you.

I may not want Jay Feely as a kicker on my fantasy football team, but I wouldn’t mind having someone like him as an employee, a business partner, or a friend. We all need this kind of integrity in our lives, and at one point or another we’ve all needed to be this humble.

US Senators Pull Political Stunt!

Democratic Senators brought the senate session to a halt yesterday as they unrolled a political stunt of unbelievable proportions. Senator Harry Reid called for a “secret” session to “unveil” the truth about Iraq war rationale. Reid called for the investigation about faulty intelligence to be moved along into Phase Two. What confused committee Chairman Pat Roberts most was that Phase Two has been underway for weeks. It is scheduled be rapped up early next week.

Phase One of this investigation ended with all 17 committee members in unanimous agreement that the intelligence leading to the war in Iraq was in fact not “cooked”. Phase Two is to deal with over 300 statements made by public officials to see if there were any misrepresentations made to mislead the American public.

To avoid partisan politics, Chairman Pat Roberts intends to rate these statements without identification of who made them. Democrats blocked this move, pushing to focus solely on President Bush and his administration, neglecting to investigate the dozens of Democrats who also made public statements and decisions based on the same prewar intelligence.

This protest to get the committee to start something that had been underway for weeks was an unprecedented political stunt. It grabbed headlines and the Senate minority obtained the media spotlight they wanted, but what the American public witnessed was an adolescent tantrum perpetrated by men and women who sounded more like brooding little boys and girls.

Now we know why Abu Musab al-Zarqawi fled to Iraq after we took Afghanistan. It seems he called Iraq home for four years (1998-2002) while training terrorists.

Iraq harbored Al-Qaeda terrorists. Argue all you want about the best course of action and how to defeat hate-filled jihadists, but rewriting history to win over support is disgraceful.

Every time you hear someone in the media say there was no Iraq/Al-Qaeda link or that Bush drew the terrorists into Iraq, please consider the facts and don’t believe the hype.

I hate that I can't trust anybody anymore. I feel like I have to read five news publications, watch three news stations, and hear four public officials speak before I can form an opinion on the truth of any issue. After figuring the mean, median, and mode of all this information, I then move my stance one standard deviation to the right and I've arrived at MY opinion.

Should I really have to come up with an algorithm to wade through all the garbage out there?

I hate math.

Pat Robertson comments on Monday about Hugo Chavez,

“We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability, we don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel had this to say about the US and Robertson comments,

“It's huge hypocrisy to maintain this discourse against terrorism and at the same time, in the heart of that country, there are entirely terrorist statements like those.”

SEATTLE, Washington (Reuters) -- A 15-year-old Washington state boy suffered serious burns when he set himself on fire trying to re-enact a stunt similar to those from MTV's controversial show "Jackass”. "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville donned a fireproof suit covered in steaks and was set on fire to become a human barbecue.

The boy soaked his shirt in rubbing alcohol and ignited it while his friends stood by with a video camera shooting footage they planned to sell.

The boy made a brief public statement, “Fire is really not that bad for you. Ask Knoxville, he knows how powerless fire is…have you seen his latest documentary? It really makes you question this gravity rubbish. I think the Surgeon General is a liar. That guy has been misleading us all! Just ask Johnny, or better yet, take the time to view one of his investigative reports.”

“One needs to be extremely careful in advancing a cause for autism, because this field is rife with theories that have collapsed under empirical scrutiny. Nonetheless, my hypothesis is that autism is the genetic result of "assortative mating" between parents who are both strong systemizers. Assortative mating is the term we use when like is attracted to like, and there are four significant reasons to believe it is happening here.
FIRST, both mothers and fathers of children with autism complete the embedded figures test faster than men and women in the general population.
Second, both mothers and fathers of children with autism are more likely to have fathers who are talented systemizers (engineers, for example).
Third, when we look at brain activity with magnetic resonance imaging, males and females on average show different patterns while performing empathizing or systemizing tasks. But both mothers and fathers of children with autism show strong male patterns of brain activity.
Fourth, both mothers and fathers of children with autism score above average on a questionnaire that measures how many autistic traits an individual has. These results suggest a genetic cause of autism, with both parents contributing genes that ultimately relate to a similar kind of mind: one with an affinity for thinking systematically.”

Sooo… if you're smart and want to avoid having an autistic child (and a brief family lineage), you should look for a mate who is an undisciplined, lazy, ignorant, dropout?

Smart + Smart = Autistic? What happened to Darwinian Evolution? Aren’t the chosen few genes supposed to prevail? I have been told that autistic children are, in fact, smart. OK, but they are obviously hindered in their capacity to survive and procreate. The mechanism of “natural selection” and “survival of the fittest”, in this case, result in intelligent genes being weeded out of society. Is nature selecting against intelligence?

Democracy = Minority Rules???

Democracy, once known for its “majority rules” credo, is now under fire as mass media runs to give every wacko a voice. Our democracy, which traditionally favors the majority, has been taken hostage by special interests (left and right). They get all the press coverage (therefore having the loudest voice) and in most cases are the only groups allowed a national voice. The only legitimate voice the majority retains is at the ballot box.

Why do those in the majority have to wait every four years to speak, all the while putting up with activist journalism, political correctness, and biased education? (Thank God for Blogs and thank God for the right to vote)

Consider the Muslim community in these present circumstances. They are being held hostage by a small minority with a loud voice. Without an elected body, their only option is to somehow gain a louder voice, but how do you speak louder than a suicide bomb?

The defense of “majority rules” and of democracy is increasingly important now more than ever. The world needs more ballot boxes…God bless Iraqi democracy and the spread of freedom.

I go on vacation for a week and TheRantSheet loses all rationality! We’re apologizing for sarcasm, believing the hype, and retracting cat stories? Wha...Happen?

1. Sarcasm is at the top of the communication food chain. Let it reign supreme.

2. I love hype, but don’t believe this hype. Commenting on an “employee” of the CIA (legal) is far different than revealing an “undercover” CIA “operative” (illegal). Does anyone care who cleans the floor at the KGB?

3. It’s true, cat reporting has regressed into ruthless mud-slinging recently (this is meant to be sarcastic), but why retract the story? Here is a news flash; every story has a slant. Readers beware: to get the entire picture on any story you must diversify your news sources.

Ridiculous ranting is what this site is all about. What’s a rant without sarcasm, slant, and hype? Long live pure unadulterated ranting!

Paris and Baseball...Olympic Rejects

After rejecting the city of Paris earlier this week, the Olympic committee decided yesterday that Baseball and Softball will not be included in the 2012 summer program. The IOC stated that Olympic Baseball does not draw top athletes and is therefore, unappealing.

Meanwhile handball, shooting, and archery are retained as Olympic events and are expected to have widespread appeal and become all the craze.

Activist Judges...Activist Citizens

Weare NH, 2005

The people of Weare NH are taking on the supreme court. Why Weare? Because it happens to be the residence of Supreme Court Justice David Souter (the author of the recent eminent domain decsion). This is the focus of their action:

"To see if the voters of Weare will vote to take by eminent domain a certain parcel of land consisting of 8.08 acres located on Cilley Rd, Map 406 parcel #21, also known as the Souter Property, for the creation of a public park dedicated to honor the New Hampshire and US Constitutions or take any action related there to."

Now Weare voters have a chance, a historic chance, to make a statement about the state of our nation and individual rights with a simple vote at their town hall. This tradition has been going on in Weare for over two hundred years and is still in good hands - unlike our US Supreme Court.

Why do we elect idiots to be public officials? In an interview this week, Nancy Pelosi was asked about the latest Supreme Court decision on Eminent Domain. Here is an excerpt:

Q Later this morning, many Members of the House Republican leadership, along with John Cornyn from the Senate, are holding a news conference on eminent domain, the decision of the Supreme Court the other day, and they are going to offer legislation that would restrict it, prohibiting federal funds from being used in such a manner.

Two questions: What was your reaction to the Supreme Court decision on this topic, and what do you think about legislation to, in the minds of opponents at least, remedy or changing it?

Ms. Pelosi. As a Member of Congress, and actually all of us and anyone who holds a public office in our country, we take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Very central to that in that Constitution is the separation of powers. I believe that whatever you think about a particular decision of the Supreme Court, and I certainly have been in disagreement with them on many occasions, it is not appropriate for the Congress to say we're going to withhold funds for the Court because we don't like a decision.

Q Not on the Court, withhold funds from the eminent domain purchases that wouldn't involve public use. I apologize if I framed the question poorly. It wouldn't be withholding federal funds from the Court, but withhold Federal funds from eminent domain type purchases that are not just involved in public good.

Ms. Pelosi. Again, without focusing on the actual decision, just to say that when you withhold funds from enforcing a decision of the Supreme Court you are, in fact, nullifying a decision of the Supreme Court. This is in violation of the respect for separation of church -- powers in our Constitution, church and state as well. Sometimes the Republicans have a problem with that as well. But forgive my digression.

So the answer to your question is, I would oppose any legislation that says we would withhold funds for the enforcement of any decision of the Supreme Court no matter how opposed I am to that decision. And I'm not saying that I'm opposed to this decision, I'm just saying in general.

Q Could you talk about this decision? What you think of it?

Ms. Pelosi. It is a decision of the Supreme Court. If Congress wants to change it, it will require legislation of a level of a constitutional amendment. So this is almost as if God has spoken. It's an elementary discussion now. They have made the decision.

Q Do you think it is appropriate for municipalities to be able to use eminent domain to take land for economic development?

Ms. Pelosi. The Supreme Court has decided, knowing the particulars of this case, that that was appropriate, and so I would support that.

Pelosi clearly misunderstands the court decision and what congress is planning to do to combat this horrible ruling. First, she thinks this decision is related to church and state. It’s not. Then, she thinks congress is trying to withhold money from the courts. They’re not. After being corrected by the interviewer, she then thinks congress is trying to withhold “court enforcement money”. No, sorry Nancy, that is not correct.

The truth is that congress is trying to pass a law that withholds funding from any municipality that votes to seize private property. Something the House Minority Leader should know.

I need to hear from you readers. Am I asking too much by demanding our public officials know the facts?

Ted Kennedy…Pass the Cool-Aid

Did you see Ted Kennedy blast Rumsfeld and the Joint Chiefs of Staff yesterday? Kennedy went on a 10-minute rant calling for Rumsfeld’s resignation. Kennedy pulled out every accusation, complaint, and prejudice presented by Moore, Kerry, and Al Jazeera over the last four years (I think he also referenced “Revenge of the Sith”). The Joint Chiefs calmly gave facts, figures, and evidence to the contrary. Kennedy then asked Rumsfeld how many strikes he would receive before he would submit his resignation. Rumsfeld remained composed and stated that he had submitted his resignation twice to president Bush but they were not accepted.

I am not interested in defending Bush, Rumsfeld, or the war in Iraq. I just have one request for Ted Kennedy. Come prepared next time. Do your research, bring evidence and proof rather than propaganda and rumor. How do you show up to a senate hearing with the equivalent of TheRantSheet and present it as evidence? Then, based on that “evidence”, you call for a resignation that has already been given twice.

I expect more from a US Senator (my expectations are lowered everyday). Has Ted Kennedy ever submitted his resignation? Maybe it’s time.

Embryonic Mythology...

Although the topic of embryonic stem cell research has been brewing for a while, to my shame, I have remained relatively ignorant on the topic. I have done some research and now I have an opinion.

I cannot support “embryonic” stem cell research. The basis for this declaration is that human life should not be created to be destroyed and harvested. I state this knowing that many will argue about when life begins and at what point are we killing someone. However, the fact remains that these embryos are growing humans.

That is the moral argument supported by scientific fact. This does not seem to be enough in our cultures’ court of public opinion, so I will frame my stance in “rational” terms:

I highly support stem cell research and its use in curing illness. “Embryonic” stem cell research is my only exception. Stem cells can be collected from the eyes, blood, spinal cord, bone marrow, brain, skin, umbilical cord, muscles, and embryos. All of which have been tested and used to cure illnesses, except one. Embryonic stem cells have been tested extensively and have never cured anyone. I am glad, because it happens to be the only method that is morally objectionable.

So why are so many asking that we pour time and money into the only failed method? Why are so many asking that we pour time and money into the only morally objectionable method? The “forbidden fruit” syndrome strikes again. We just can't get enough of the unethical.

The question remains, not what can be done, but what should be done?
