Howdy folks!

Long time no talk eh? I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and staying cool. It is hot as can be here in Nashville (we're expecting 2+ weeks of over 90 degree heat with no rain), but now that it is August, the downslide towards my favorite time of the year of fall has begun. It can't get here soon enough!

I just wanted to take a moment and point out a few shows in Nevada that Lee Ann is doing coming up here. First up, there's a show tomorrow in Mesquite, Nevada at the CasaBlanca Casino and Resort. Mesquite is about 90 miles north of Las Vegas so if you are in the area, be sure and pop on by.

Speaking of Las Vegas, LAW will be doing an entire weekend of shows there at the Orleans Casino September 7-9. If you've always wanted to travel to Las Vegas, this would be the perfect time to do so! Ticket information can be found on the main MySpace page or over at LeeAnnWomack.com. And remember, fan club members can go backstage at any of Lee Ann's shows to meet Lee Ann and have a photo taken with her. There's still plenty of time to join the fan club if you are planning on going to any of the Las Vegas shows. Just email me and I'll shoot you the details.

Finally, our thoughts and prayers go out to those in Minnesota affected by the bridge collapse. Our hearts are with you.

Cheerios Helping Hearts

Lee Ann is the spokeswoman for the Cheerios Helping Hearts campaign running through the month of February. LAW is gracing the back of every Cheerios box in the country, with information on woman's heart health and how you can help the cause. Every time you enter the promotion code from any participating box of Cheerios cereal, Cheerios will donate $1 to WomenHeart, supporting women living with heart disease. Next time you are in the grocery store, look for the red dress on the front of Cheerios boxes and help us fight women's heart disease.

Lee Ann is up in the first round of voting in the Female Video Of the Year category for "Finding My Way Back Home". Click here to vote for Lee Ann in the first round! The final four nominees in each category will be announced Feb. 28.

Endless Highway: The Music of The Band featuring Lee Ann and others as a tribute to The Band was released on Tuesday. Lee Ann tackles one of The Band's most poputlar hits, "The Weight". Joining Lee Ann on the song are Buddy and Julie Miller singing background vocals. The album also features Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket, Gomez, and Roseanne Cash, among others. Pick up a copy at your local record store today.

Those of you in the San Antonio area can catch Lee Ann at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on February 16. She'll be performing in the round with Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue and Randy Rogers. Should be a great show!

Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back!

Happy new year to everyone! I've been on what a friend of mine dubbed the "Alison Groves Farewell To 2006" tour around the country that saw me spending time in east Texas, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. But now I'm back in my office ready to rock what should be an awesome 2007!

I think the biggest story of '07 is going to be Lee Ann's new album. The last I heard, the album was slated for an "early '07" release, and I'm hoping that means sometime in February. I know you guys are anxiously awaiting for news, so as soon as I hear, you'll be the first to know.

I should have a few dates to let you guys know about soon too, but while you wait, check out the latest new music from Lee Ann, as she is featured on a tribute record for The Band doing their infamous hit The Weight. You can stream the song, and the rest of the album (be sure to check out the Death Cab For Cutie track, a LAW camp favorite) on the album's website. The album also has a MySpace profile if you'd like to add Lee Ann's version of The Weight to your MySpace profile. I think you'll love the song.

I've got quite a hefty amount of emails to sift though, so that's what I'll be doing this afternoon. Would love to hear from you guys and hear how your holidays were. I'm sure they were good!

All Apologies

I want to send a big round of apologies to all fan club members who have been patiently waiting for new membership packets as well as renewal packets. I have spent the entire month of November working on things for the Texas tour and am just now able to properly sit down and do some fan club things. I plan on spending the rest of the week getting out pacakges (until I run out of autographed photos) as well as doing a holiday newsletter, which I will be doing this afternoon.

I also owe some folks emails which I hope to get to today as well. So much going on, so little of me!

The countdown is on for Christmas! (For those Mac users out there, this is a fun little app to keep you reminded of the impending holiday) Does anyone have any big holiday plans? I am taking my first proper vacation in a year and spending 2 weeks in Houston, Vegas and Los Angeles.

This blog post is long overdue. LONG! I apologize for my absence around these parts, but I have been slammin' and jammin' on the upcoming tour and decided to take a break from my last bit of work before the holiday to come by here and update everyone. Some crafty soul hacked into our second Texas tour MySpace profile and took that over, so I just decided to have Lee Ann's main MySpace profile be your one stop shop for all things Texas tour. It is sneaking up on us....I hope all of you in the area have your tickets already and are ready for an amazing night of music that you won't soon forget!

I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday. My friends and I have started a great tradition here in Nashville by "running" (or as I like to call it, leisurely strolling) the Boulevard Bolt, which is a 5 mile race to benefit the homeless. It is a great way to start the day and prepare for the feast that comes later. I hope your family traditions are as fun as mine, and wish all of you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My roommate's father passed away over the weekend and I've spent this week dealing with her family and everything that comes with that. Howdy folks!

August has FLOWN by. F L O W N. I'm sure by now you've all read that we had a huge surprise birthday party for Lee Ann last week in Luckenbach, Texas. Our gal Melissa lived to tell the tale over at LAW.com. I don't think I've ever worked so hard to keep a secret in my life. Good thing I didn't see Lee Ann too much in the past six weeks or so, because the one day I did see her (the day before I took off down to Texas to deal with the party) I almost spilled the beans a good 3 or 4 times. We pulled out all the stops to keep it a secret...all working behind closed doors nights and weekends, making sure EVERYTHING party related was marked with "top secret!", having to talk in code on the phone so LAW didn't catch on, throwing a fake party to throw her off the scent, even faking a "family emergency" down in Texas (thankfully 1. I'm from Houston and 2. my grandma is A-OK).

I really don't think I've been more nervous about anything in my life. There were a lot of people putting a lot of effort into making it down for the party, so everything needed to go off without a hitch and everyone needed to be 100% taken care of. I was the first to arrive in town, to make sure that our hotel was all sorted out, that all of our supplies arrived on time, and that plans in general were working out. Not to mention that I was in the process of making a video that was to be the center point of the party...enough to give a girl and ulcer! The day of the party though, everything came together flawlessly through a huge amount of teamwork (everyone in our camp worked VERY hard to pull it off) and Lee Ann entered the dancehall with a priceless look of shock on her face (be sure to check the KAJA website linked above for the exact moment she realizes it is her birthday party and not a listener appreciation party). I'm so proud of everyone involved, and amazingly honored to be a part of such a huge milestone in Lee Ann's life. The party itself was a total blast, and how much do I love Mark Chesnutt?! He sang Too Cold At Home not once, but twice. The feather boas came out, and the party rocked until the wee hours of the morning.

Enough party talk, for we have big things underway...like a new single! Finding My Way Back Home is at a radio station near you and at iTunes. Have you heard it on your local radio station? We want to know!

I woke up about 4am this morning with the first line of the chorus to LAW's new single, Finding My Way Back Home, running through my head. "I've been takin' my tiiiiiiiiimeeeeee!" Over and over again. Now THAT'S a catchy song, when you wake up in the middle of the night with it running through your head. It's just that good.

Some of you might already be hearing it on your local radio station....I have it on good authority that a few stations are already playing it. If you hear it on your local station, be sure to call them up and request it. If you haven't heard it yet, hold on tight, we'll have official add date info for you very soon.

It's been a CRAZY month around my place. Tying up loose ends from the fan club party, sorting out the TON of donations I got from all of you guys, going through AnySoldier.com and selecting soldiers, putting the care packages together (we ended up with 30 packages), getting them shipped out, making a few hundred fan club packets, working on the new album, trying to keep my InBox from spilling over 100 emails at a time, and doing 100 other odd and end things. Somewhere in there I got a new computer (don't drop you laptop kiddies....they don't like to charge after you do so...) and had to go through getting everything off the old one and putting it on this one. Which in theory sounds easy but is a big pain in the arse.

So that's what's been going on here. What about you? I know LAW has been playing a bunch of shows lately (and is going on a big west coast run next week). Hit up the comments and let us know what you've been up to, and if you've seen the LAW recently.

I know I've said it several times, but I just want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who brought care package donations to the fan club party. I finally got to sort through it all this afternoon and it is quite impressive! (see photo) I think when Courtney and Lee Ann return from their trip overseas to play for the troops, we're going to gather in our office and assemble them all. It might take us an entire day to get them all together since you guys gave us so much! Your generocity was over the top, and was much appreciated.

Does anyone else have World Cup fever? I'm loving it. Doesn't look like the American team is going to fair too well, but England is my 2nd favorite team. I love me some David Beckham and Michael Owen.

What a week. And I see it has been over a month since I last blogged. In that period I spent over three weeks in Texas and then furiously finished planning the fan club party. Thanks to all of you who came out to the party! The feedback on it was once again, amazing. Even Lee Ann emailed me later that evening to express her thanks and to tell me that a ton of you had been raving about the Belcourt and the party itself. That means so much to me, you have no idea. I spent last week so furiously wrapped up in the event, that I never stopped to take a breath and relax. But the party turned out exactly how I wanted it to....a laid back, casual affair where old friends meet to hang out, new friends meet for the first time and everyone is brought together by their love of the LAW. Hopefully I'll get some photos of the party up soon. I was going to toss one up here today, but they are on my other computer which is, of course, at home. If you have any that you took that you would like to share, please pass them along to me.

Somewhere along the way, between shaking 100 hands on Thursday and running 100 MPH, I caught a cold over the weekend! Who's ever heard of a summer cold? My mom just laughed at me when I said that, saying that summer colds are the worst. And she's right. I'm feeling about 80% today, but it is so dang hot that it just makes you feel more miserable. I bet swallowing a mouthful of water from the Ocoee River on Saturday didn't help either. I think I was a smart ass just one too many times to the guide and he proceeded to dump me face first over the side of the boat right as we hit the rapid Tablesaw. Here's a lesson kids...keeping your mouth closed, both in the boat and in the river is probably a good idea.

2006 Fan Club Party!

Help us send Lee Ann overseas in style! She leaves June 10 for a tour of Germany and Italy to entertain the troops stationed there, and she invites you to attend her bon voyage party. As I mentioned in my letter, this year's fan club party will once again be held at the historic Belcourt Theater in the Hillsboro Village section of Nashville on June 8 at 10am.

To make sure that everyone has ample time with Lee Ann, I'm going to open the doors at 9:50am so that we may get started promptly at 10am to make sure you can maximize your time. One thing we are adding this year is song requests from you guys. This has been asked for many times in the past, and Lee Ann has agreed to do it. So, submit your song request on the ticket form below and I'll sit down with Lee Ann to pick out 5 songs for her to do along with her hits. This is your chance to hear some of your favorite album cuts live and acoustic!

Also, as mentioned elsewhere in the newsletter, we will be accepting donations and assembling care packages for soldiers stationed overseas. We hope to get the care packages made up on the spot and shipped out later in the day, so anything you bring with you to send overseas will be much appreciated.

Would you like to be featured in the movie to be shown at the party? If so, email or mail me shots of you with Lee Ann, with other fans, or at a show and I'll add you in!

If you would like to attend this year's fan club party, please send in a check or money order payable to LAWFC. $15 for members, $20 for non members. Also, be sure to include a self addressed stamped envelope so that I may include directions to the party and your ticket confirmation. Also, please feel free to bring something for the soldier care packages! Remember, you need to be a member, or a guest of a member to attend. If you aren't a member, there's still plenty of time to join and come to the party. Hope to see you all there!

There will be general movie going fare....popcorn, candy, soda as well as a movie for your enjoyment. After we do a Q&A and acoustic session with Lee Ann, we'll move out into the lobby for a meet and greet. All that attend the party are welcome to meet with Lee Ann. It should be a great time for everyone, so we hope you can all make it out!

The kind folks over at CMT.com have given us a pair of tickets to give away to the 2006 CMT Music Awards! We would love to give the pair of tickets to a Lee Ann fan, so if you can be in Nashville on April 10 for the awards show, read on....
