Thesis Site Option Design Option Showing Upgrade Thesis Button [Solution]

I have been using Thesis from more than 2 year now and I never had any issue until recently my Thesis site options and design options started showing “Upgrade Thesis” button.

When ever I open my Thesis site option and design option page it says:

Oooh, Exciting!

It’s time to upgrade your Thesis, which means there’s new awesomeness in your immediate future. Click the button below to fast-track your way to the awesomeness!

Last time when this error happened, I had to do a clear installation of Thesis by removing Thesis tables from WordPress database and it was easy but time consuming task. I looked into Thesis support form for help and realize it’s just not me but many others are facing the similar issue.

Only thing which was common between me and others facing the similar issue was W3 Total cache plugin.

W3 total cache is an advanced caching plugin for WordPress but at times it create lots of issues. I have been running my blog on W3tc plugin for quite some time but with recent upgrade it created lots of issues. Anyways, we will get back to W3tc with different post but for now, if you are facing the similar issue, try flushing all your cache and disabling W3tc plugin. It worked for me and might work for you.

MaxiTendece Fashion Blog Thesis Skin Designed

MaxiTendence is a French fashion blog and Zack is one of my old client. In the past we have already created one Thesis skin for them and some time back he again contacted for his BlogSpot blog to WordPress migration and also for his Thesis skin customization. Zack already prepered a mockup for his Fashion blog and he wanted theme to be exactly like the same. Zack effort can be clearly seen from his mockup and we also wanted to give him the best. We develop this Fashion blog Thesis skin on our test server and once Zack was satisfied we deployed this Thesis skin on his blog.

Here is a screenshot of his mockup:

If you head over to MaxiTendence you will notice how elegant his blog is looking now. You will also notice on his single post that we have used related posts with thumbnail as this is fashion blog and images improves CTR for fashion niche. Even on sidebar you will notice recent posts with thumbnail which is making sidebar attractive.

Ads on Maxitendence is configured using Adrotate plugin so that client won’t find it difficult to change advertisement codes on his Thesis theme at any time.

How to BackUp Thesis WordPress Theme Design and Site options

Those who are using Thesis theme, they know that Thesis customization is mostly done by custom.css and custom functions.php file located in custom Thesis folder. When ever we talk about taking a back up or upgrading Thesis, we suggest you to take a complete back up of custom folder by downloading it locally. Though this is not the only backup which you need, but you might have made some changes from Thesis site option and Thesis design option to customize your Thesis theme.

If you are planning to take back up of your customized thesis theme, along with taking back up of custom folder, you need to take back of Thesis settings. In latest version of Thesis, you can always import and export settings from Thesis option manager. This is located in the option menu of Thesis theme and you can take back up of individual settings or all options at once.

How to Add Google Analytic to Thesis WordPress Theme

Analyzing your website traffic is an important part of optimization. So far, Google analytic is one of the best free analytic tool for Bloggers. Since it’s free and offer all the feature for advance uses, Google analytic is one must have analytic program that every blogger should have on his blog. Getting back to Thesis theme, Thesis theme helps you to lower down many plugins including Google analytic.

You can add Google analytic code into Thesis WordPress theme without any plugin. In this tutorial I will help you with code generation and also how you can integrate analytic code into Thesis theme.

Generating Google analytic code for Thesis Theme:

If you have been blogging for some time or you switched to Thesis theme recently, you can skip this option and grab the code from existing analytic account and follow step 2 which explains how to add code into Thesis theme. For first time user, follow this simple guide to get started with Google Analytic. Login to Google analytic account using your Google login. After logging in, click on add new account or use this direct link to add new site in your account. Click on sign up and on next page start feeling details:

On the next screen Enter your first and last name and select your country and click on continue. Read the terms and conditions and click on Yes I agree and continue to account creation. On the next page you will be given code which you need to install on your site to let Google analytic track your traffic stats.

Copy the code and click on save and Finish.

Adding Analytic code into Thesis WordPress theme:

Till now, we have signed up for Google analytics and now it’s time to add the code into Thesis Theme. Go to your WordPress dashboard and Under Thesis settings, select Site options. Now search for column which says, Stats and tracking script, paste the code and click on Big ass save button.

It may take around 24-48 hours before you see your traffic stats in Google analytic dashboard. Here is a quick video which shows how to add code into Thesis theme. In the video I skipped the creating analytic account part and straight away, I’m showing how to add code into Thesis:

Thesis 1.8.2 Released

WordPress 3.2 was released couple of days back with many awesome features and as soon as WordPress 3.2 was out, Thesis theme developers also released a quick update to Thesis theme. The latest version 1.8.2 is fully compatible with WordPress 3.2 and fixes one bug related to category SEO page.

So if you are using Thesis theme and using your categories page for SEO purpose, it’s a mandatory update for you. You can manually update your Thesis theme or you can use our Thesis upgrade service to update your blog to latest Thesis theme version and your WordPress version too.

How to Merge All in One SEO Plugin Data with Thesis WordPress Theme

We all know Thesis theme is one of the most powerful SEO WordPress theme at the moment. Moving to Thesis theme will give you great SEO advantage. Thesis theme comes with lots of SEO option which also included single post SEO options. Now if you are one of those who started using Thesis recently and using ALL in one SEO details, simply disabling all in one SEO plugin is not a good idea.

In order to let Thesis handle our WordPress blog SEO, we need to migrate all data from ALL in one SEO plugin to Thesis theme and completely disable the all in one SEO plugin. When we do Thesis customization for our client, we also make sure that we take care of Blog SEO along with it. Else despite of great design, blog SEO will not be very effective. Here I’m sharing a quick tutorial, which will help you to migrate all your all in one SEO detail into Thesis Theme.

To complete this SEO detail migration process, we will be using a plugin call Meta Thesis WordPress plugin. This plugin was designed to migrate SEO details when you change such theme framework or change your SEO plugin like from all in one SEO to platinum SEO and so on.

Step by step guide:

To start with, install meta Thesis plugin and activate it.

So once your plugin is activated, go to Meta Thesis settings and click on Import AIOSEOP data.

That’s it and all your ALL in one SEO data is now added into Thesis SEO field and now you can delete the all in one SEO plugin. You can follow delete cust0m field WordPress tutorial, to completely remove AIOSEO plugin tables from WordPress database.

This plugin is also very handy when you are moving back to some other theme from Thesis. This way, you are not dependent on any theme for your SEO needs.

More over, by moving all one SEO details into Thesis, you are lowering down your plugin count by one and your blog will be more faster.

How to Disable Comments on All The Pages in Thesis WordPress Theme

We all know that we use our pages for most important information like About page, Contact page, Testimonial page and so on. Obviously you want those pages to be seen as the best pages of your blog and you might not like to receive comments on them. For me, the best idea is to let the reader connect via contact page and not to let them comment on pages but only on posts.

In Thesis we can disable comments on pages with one single click. And you can also take care of “comments on this entry are closed” message.

Check the box which says “Disable comments on all pages” and click on big ass save button. That’s it and now your pages will not show any comment box and no message. Here is an example:

This is one quick and simple tip but will save lots of your time. Specially if you happens to be one of those who check box on individual pages to disable comment.
