Omega Receives Alcohol Waiver from National

The International Chapter informed Omega chapter that the Alcohol-free Housing (AFH) Waiver Committee reviewed the chapter's application for an alcohol waiver. Based on the protocols established by the Grand Chapter and the information provided by the chapter, it was determined that Omega Chapter will be granted an alcohol-free housing waiver for July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

Threepeat! Chapter Wins 3rd Consecutive IM Volleyball Championship

Theta Chi went undefeated in regular season (7-0) and only dropped one game all season (19-1). In the championship they swept Delta Upsilon 2 games to none to capture their third straight Penn State Intramural Volleyball Championship (Fraternity Division).

Last year, Theta Chi raised $7,400 for the kids, and this year, we are looking to add on to that total in a big way. Our goal for THON 2009 is $15,000. We're stepping up our canning efforts, sending letters to family and friends, going door-to-door looking for pledges and searching for corporate sponsors.

K.I.C.K.S. Soccer Tournament for Make-A-Wish Foundation

K.I.C.K.S. will be held on Sunday, November 16th 2008 at the intramural fields across Park Avenue from East Halls. K.I.C.K.S. will begin at 12:00 pm and will run until all the winners are crowned (probably until around 5:00 or so).

All proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish, and any alumni interested in donating to K.I.C.K.S. can send their donations made out to Make-A-Wish Foundation to K.I.C.K.S. at 523 South Allen St. State College, PA 16801.

Alumni can also buy t-shirts - please let us know if you would like to buy a t-shirt by November 2nd.

Labor Day Barbecue

In a much anticipated sequel, brother's Jason Chottiner and David Hartwich act out an interpretation to John Parr's hit song from the movie St. Elmo's Fire. Shooting took place in and around the Theta Chi house, as well as various fields and parking deck roofs.

Chapter Finishes #2 in Academics

Omega Chapter finished second in academics out of 47 Fraternity chapters on the Penn State campus this spring. With 39 brothers they had a cumulative academic average of 3.40 (just .02 from being #1).

On Thursday, May 1st, 2008, the undergraduate brotherhood joined by alumnus brothers Dick Jones '60, Bob Sorisio '61, and Bill Hertrick '04 held the Spring 2008 alumni ceremony.

After dining on Baked Ziti, Chicken Parmesean, salad, and rolls catered from Town and Country, the brothers in attendance wished graduating brother Andrew Bott a fond farewell from his undergraduate excursions. As Brother Bott was reminded, Theta Chi is for life, and the contributions he makes over the next 300 years of his natural life will always be valued and accepted graciously. The graduating brothers not in attendance for various other reasons included: Eric Forner, Jeff Kranzel, Max Staplin, and Jimmy Surdoval.

We wish all five of our graduating brothers all the best, and hope that they can continue to keep Theta Chi a priority for the future.

With the first-ever concert in Beaver Stadium, your choice of baseball games, and a great opportunity to meet up with your fellow brothers, this Blue-White weekend is a can’t-miss event.

We will be holding our annual Founder's Day meeting at 5pm on Saturday (April 19th). there will be a barbeque and picnic at the house during and after the meeting for brothers, family and friends.

With the Alumni Work Weekend come and gone, one can only ask: When will the next one be? The weekend of March 1st went off without a hitch. We repainted the entire Alter room (aka Living Room) and entrance hallway (including the stairwell going up to the 2nd floor) a lovely two tone color combination of Barefoot Beach and Country Biege. For all of you non-paint enthusiasts out there, we painted the first floor mostly a light cappuccino-esque khaki (Barefoot Beach) with a the floor boards, doorways being white (Country Biege). - click here to read more.

The Norwich Housing Corporation will be holding their biannual meeting in State College, Pennsylvania November 16 - 17, 2007. As customary, The NHC Board of Directors we would like to invite all Theta Chi alumni in the State College area to an alumni luncheon Saturday, November 17th.

After the luncheon there will be a meeting at the chapter house about the future of the chapter and buying back the house.

Proposed By-Law Amendments

As part of the on-going restructuring of the Alumni Board, an update to the By-Laws has been proposed.

The proposed changes bring the Alumni Board and the alumni coproration into line with current issues and needs. The current by-laws were too restricting and did not allow for quick decisions on pressing issues facing the Chapter. The proposed changes will make the Board more nimble in making decisions that need to be handled in a timely manner.
