Cinnamon and Spice

2011-11-08T10:51:00.000-08:00

Just the smell of cinnamon brings memories of winter and snuggling and all things delicious. I never thought there would be a huge difference between different types of cinnamon. But last year when my mom and I bought this "extra fancy Vietnamese cinnamon" from Penzeys Spices in Phoenix, we never looked back to ordinary cinnamon.

We've used it in apple pie (here ), in hot chocolate, in snicker doodles, and so much more.

There are a ton of beautiful gift boxes and recipe ideas on there website so if you are looking for a gift for a friend who loves cinnamon I highly recommend making the trip to Penzeys and checking out their stuff!

I folded paper into squares and wrote "happy birthday" with sharpie on the front. Then I measured yarn to the length of the room, cut it, and strung the paper on the yarn evenly. I paper clipped the ends so the bottom was weighted down and stapled the sides so the squares would stay on.

My Favorite

2011-10-12T23:22:00.000-07:00

The Quote Book.
My favorite, go-to gift for all my dearest friends.

*This particular one I made for one of my best friends 22nd birthday. The best part about this gift is how personal it is. I would say this is a gift just for girls, but for the right guy, this idea could totally work.

Here are some of my favorite quotes to write as a first quote in the book:

"Believe in yourself all that you are. You know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle." Christian D. Larson

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." Audrey Hepburn

"The only way the find the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible." Arthur C. Clarke

"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together...there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is even if we're apart..I'll always be with you." Winnie The Pooh

Gift Wrapping

2011-10-03T11:26:00.000-07:00

There are so many ways to show off your gift, and it all starts with the first impressions. Take time to wrap your gifts and you'll find just as much excitement in making/buying your gift as you do giving it away!!
Easy steps-
1. Add a little jazz, while keeping it simple. If you try to get too crazy it could end up looking like a pile of ripped paper. SO start with a basic sheet of wrapping paper and add details to make it shine.

2. Sizing the paper- I've learned the best way to size the wrapping paper is to put the package directly on the paper and cut it. Then cut the two end sides so that there is about a 2 inch over hang, that way you can have nice tight corners.

3. Final Touches- Add a ribbon or bow to pull the look together. And have fun with it!
