Nuclear Reactor in a Kitchen:

A man from Sweden was arrested after it was discovered he was trying to split atoms and build a nuclear reactor in his kitchen. He also blogged about his experiments the whole time.

Richard Handl kept radioactive elements radium, americium and uranium in his apartment, but he was arrested only after he had sent a question to Sweden’s Radiation Authority, asking whether what he was doing is legal.

This is rather refreshing to read. Nintendo is doing poorly so their president decided to cut his salary in half (and did so for many other top executives).

How different would the American business landscape look if this were normal practice? I applaud you Mr. Satoru.

Sigh…while I don’t disagree with the sentiment they’re trying to get across, these people really need to get a grip on the concepts of “conjecture” and “over-whelming proof”. Is there really no other possibility besides this being a gay man? I mean, he could have just been a pansy. I’ve heard they make straight pansies. This author (or this archeologist) are viewing this cultural ceremony through our own cultural views and values; I just don’t see how it’s responsible to claim that the possibility of this man-buried-as-woman being gay is any more than one of several possible explanations. It’s a good explanation, certainly. But it’s only one. Maybe they know that and figure they’ll get more attention this way. It’s just silly the way we make things work… Support your cause with calls to logic and decency if you lack facts to do so. Don’t just make up facts out of interesting tidbits of discovery.
