Supporting are the Media Monkeys and Ash Howell (Sourpuss djs). We also have cutting edge live visuals by Media Monkeys and Infected Tv. This night is not to be missed!!!!

The Scratch Perverts have garnered widespread acclaim. The team won the first DMC Team championships in 1999, claiming it again in the 'Perverted Allies' alias (a fusion of the Perverts and the Allies DJ crews). Additionally Prime Cuts claimed 2 consecutive ITF World Scratching titles, and Plus One won the Vestax battle in 2000, not begetting his returning the DMC World crown to the UK after a hiatus of 10 years. Their technical contributions include the 'feedback' technique and the Euro scratch amongst others.
They have now retired indefinitely from competition and gone on to regular live DJing, touring around the world & holding a residency at Fabric in London. They have also gone on to producing their own music, describing hip hop as being "a celebration of all kinds of music just by its very nature". Their influences have been said to be 'old school' artists such as Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa in addition to present day acts such as Dillinja, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aphex Twin.[citation needed]

The Scratch Perverts are also notable for their adoption of drum and bass and feature it heavily in their DJ sets. They contributed to the track "Get Ill" as part of an album track for D&B producers Ed Rush and Optical.

So if u have any sense you will pencil this event into your diary! The ticket price yet TBC but as soon as we know u will! Monkeys x

*******STOP PRESS STOP PRESS!!!! Eventually, Gwilt was accepted to go to the University of Leeds, and the boys collectively moved there after graduation.
They formed the Sunshine Underground soon after they got to Leeds, naming their band after a Chemical Brothers track. It was during this time that the band established important contacts in the music industry, eventually hooking up with ¡Forward, Russia!'s "scene fixer," who promoted some of the Sunshine Underground's first shows. They captured the attention of audiences all over Britain when in 2005 the band won a popular BBC-1 battle of the bands competition called Fresh Meat.

The band's debut single, "Put You in Your Place," was released on the City Rockers label in July of that year. They released another single in 2006, "Commercial Breakdown," and released their first full-length album, Raise the Alarm, on the same label a few months later.

discounted entry to a darker disco if you have been in upstairs

Sunday 03 May 2009 at 14:00 Concrete Jungle

After smashing the walls off the cinema room in feb the CJ team have been thinking of ways to break down the doors and getting the jungle where it belongs "OUTSIDE"

We're strong believers in dancing through the day and the good vibe it brings, So we at Concrete jungle are taking the canteen and turning it inside out for a day time clubbing experience that's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Using the space we've been given uniquely this 10 hour party will be set over three areas

THE JUNGLE
THE SOUL BOX
GRRILLAZ STREET GARDEN

Expect Trees, Love & Bass.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
_______________________________________________

THE JUNGLE

MONIKER (stable disco)
DIG DEEP (for no reason)
DARYL QUAYLE (concrete jungle)
ANDY FULLARD (..dont ask?)
JAMIE SMITH (a darker disco)
PHIL HODGE
MARTIN
_______________________________________________

THE SOUL DEN

Expect an eclectic collection of all things groovy from some of the finest vinyl collectors around.

SOULBOWL
HOMEGROWN DJ'S
CHARLIE MOON (question mark)
_______________________________________________

GRILLAZ STREET GARDEN

The zulu's tell us its gonna be a right sunny day. He then went on to work with Roger Sanchez at Narcotic in the mid 90's. This led to his long lasting friendship and partnership with Derrick Carter and the setting up of their legendary label, Classic.

Through all of this Luke has retained a successful production career with partner Justin Harris, as Freak's, and as a recently established solo artist, recording for Radioslave's Rekids amongst others.
Luke's debut album, 'The Difference Engine' was release in February '08 on Rekids, and a new album is due later in '09. In the meantime, Solomon has produced Damian Lazarus' new album for Get Physical to be released in early '09

Luke Solomon has been a fundamental part of the dance scene for over a decade
now and his contribution over the years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Now
in 2007, his sound is still evolving and his bizarre take on the new underground
house sound is very exciting, a master of the groove and never afraid of a risk, his
latest productions are arguably his finest work to date.

Luke began his professional DJ career in 1990 with a residency at Middlesex
University, which is where he met cohort Justin Harris. After a spell working in a local
record shop and as a part-time fishmonger he got a job at Freetown records, which
led him to long lasting relationships with Rob Mello and Kenny Hawkes. Rob took
Luke under his studio wing and taught him the ropes, together they went on to
release for both Freetown and Prescription Underground – it was through Prescription
that he got introduced to a certain Derrick L. Carter. A bond was immediately formed
and through their passion for House music and crazy late nights they formed the
legendary Classic Recordings.

Luke also formed a recording partnership with Justin Harris and are the masterminds
behind their band Freaks and their own label Music For Freaks, 3 studio albums
followed. Jones was so impressed that he booked Jon on the spot for his Carbon Casino bash that night. That went so well that he returned for every subsequent Carbon Casino event and spent several months playing with the Rotten Hill Gang, the Westway collective featuring Mick and members of BAD and Groove Armada.

In the summer Jon played to a packed house at Glastonbury Left Field and won the stages ‘new artist’ award and the opportunity to put out his album through Militant.

Moving away from solo performance, Jon has teamed up with Bobby Kewley (The Christians) on bass and Paul Tsanos (Pete Wylie, Ian McNabb) on drums. Both have recently worked in the studio with American singer/songwriter Edwin McCain and performed with Ringo Starr during Liverpool’s capital of culture celebrations. Alabama 3’s Devlin Love contributes backing vocals on a number of tracks.

‘Jon Byrne is a star. This album is loaded with his ‘finger on the trigger’ social commentary.

Described as ‘Oscar Wilde meets Withnail’ Jon Byrne is a troubadour for the zeitgeist and the perfect antidote to corporate greed and the X Factor.

'Here's someone who really means it man! However, after a good 6 month break and a small change in personnel the band began to concentrate on writing more of their own songs. their is excitement in each of the tracks written, with a vast array of influences and an excellent live setup.... The North are confident that they will not dissapoint. A demo was done on the 15th of september at the Coach House Studios in Ulverston. This was done for people to get a picture of the bands sound and possibly to attract some gigs. A new recording consisting of newer, fresher material is now available. Having recently won The Canteen/ Evening Mail Battle of the Bands The North have some exciting gigs lined up including a support slot for The Sunshine Underground and also with Them Is Me at Manchesters Dry Bar. but first is a gig this friday at the kings from 20:30

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=52814892423

We Need Your Input!

Fancy yourself as a writer? photographer? journo? notamoron.co.uk are after local talent to help push the site forward and increase content, unfortunately no payment is available as we are not funded in any way but if you're planning a career in anything creative this is great experience.

All you need to do is submit your work, weather it be photo journal, review or whatever to submissions@notamoron.co.uk and if we like it we'll publish it. It was a new sound and it was only with the simultaneous emergence of the likes of The Dust Brothers, Depth Charge and Red Snapper did some bright spark come up with the term "Trip Hop" and a new genre was born. Moving quickly on, Martin teamed up with beat-head extrordinaire, Martin Desai (engineer for the Twisted Nerve label) to form J-Walk. They released a series of 3 collectable 45rpm singles on the Pleasure label, another branch of the Rob Gretton empire. One of these tracks, the classic "Soul Vibration" went on to be licensed and used for ad campaigns many times worldwide, as well as being staple background music for the BBC and ITV broadcasting channels. As a result, J-Walk signed to Eastwest and released the critically acclaimed but sorely-overlooked album "A Night On The Rocks", promoting it with support slots for Nightmares On Wax and Barrow's own Aim, playing at such venues as the Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Kentish Town Forum and Manchester's The Ritz, along with an appearance at Midem's "Best Of British" showcase in Cannes, along with Ladytron and David Holmes' Free Association. Along the way, J-Walk have lent their sound in remixing Nitin Sawhney, Bebel Gilberto, The Sugarbabes, Alfie, Rae & Christian, Baaba Maal, Kings Of Convenience and Only Child, as well as remixing Manuel Gottsching's much-sampled electronic classic "E2-E4'. During this time Martin also managed to run the Fat City record shop for several years, and contributed tracks to the Fat City Recordings label's acclaimed series of "Mystic Brew" compilations, most notably Sand Steppin, which has since appeared on mix compilations such as N.O.Ws "DJ KICKS" and Andy Smiths "Document" Vol.2. He has since followed this up with a solo album "No Room In The City For Big Hearts Like Ours", which featured guests such as The Nextmen, Riton, Rich Medina, Ambersunshower, and MC Wrec.
As a DJ, Martin has played and all over the world, taking in New York, London, Paris, Munich (everybody talk about....), Oslo, Berlin, Bergen, Vienna, Hamburg, Turkey, Moscow, Edinburgh, Dublin...the list goes on. He has also played at hundreds of clubs in the U.K over the years including a residency at "Friends & Family" nights as well as residencies in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Sheffield, Glasgow, and Belfast. Having played alongside everyone from Dr. Bob Jones to Kenny Carpenter, from Afu-Ra to Breakestra, Martin is comfortable of taking his brand of fuzzy funk to everybody everywhere.
Joining Monsuer Brew is KID CAGOULE, one third of the Movement crew, serving up his renowned mix of funk and beats.
Meanwhile the HOMEGROWN DJ's keep things moving throughout the evening. Things get started at 9.30 p.m. and run until 3 a.m. entrance is £5

Film Insiders Talent Festival - 26-28 feb

The Film Insiders Talent Festival, an exciting new event from Signal Films at the end of February (Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th) will bring 3 packed days of events, screenings, masterclasses and networking with a host of high profile film practitioners and pioneers.
