Now this is a cute pose. It looks like this little girl really loves her doggy. Seeing this makes me have an even stronger craving for a pet. I have my fish, but they're not cuddly. They are, however, fun to watch and I imagine personalities into them.

These look like twins, though I'm not completely sure. Some similarities, some differences. Perhaps it is because they are sitting in similar positions.

The dress reminds me of mummy wrappings, but she has a lovely smile.

Those eyes make quite an impact. I am reminded of a vintage portrait that hung in an old apartment. I was living in a mansion built in 1850 that had been converted into furnished apartments. The portrait, which was drawn, was of a little boy who seemed to be wearing slightly tattered clothing. His eyes always looked so sad to me. I miss that picture, but luckily I have photographs of it so that I can still say hello to him.

I'm wondering what kind of bird feathers those are.

I see these eyes looking back at me, she is looking into the future at me and I am looking into the past at her. We time travel and meet in the now. I wonder who she became, what was her life like, who did she grow up to become? Did she fall in love? Did she live a long life?

I think there is more hair here than woman!

This little girl is all cheeks and hair!

I think this is just about as cute as they come. I hope my friend Goatman likes this one, it has more of those pretty colors. There is so much innocence in this image. It takes one to know one! haha!

...Makes me wonder when bangs became stylish. I could never do bangs, myself, just because I'd feel a lack of symmetry and evenness throughout my hair. ...but that's just me. I'm weird.

I am wondering if her hair was naturally wavy or if they used some tool back then to make the "crimps". Perhaps they heated something on the stove?

I have a photograph on my bookshelf of my great-grandfather. He is with his pet fox. Back then maybe pet foxes were a big thing.

Just a subtle sprinkling of color and some flowers. Were they given to her by a beau?

I love how these vintage photographs take me back to a time that is long gone, a time in which the people that once inhabited it are also long gone. In a way, looking at these images gives me a very eerie feeling, and that is the best way I know how to describe it.

I hope you've been enjoying these old photographs. Over time I will add more to the collection. I enjoy vintage and antique photographs, especially tintype images.

...more lovely long hair. I wonder who had to brush it - the girl or the mother?

I love long hair, though I doubt I would ever let my hair get this long as it would just get in the way.

I don't guess they worried about germs so much back then.

I like how the basket in the dog's mouth makes it look like it's smiling. :)

...and walking down the dark hallway, I could have sworn I saw those portraits' eyes following me!

I'm sure dressing in this costume made the little girl's day. I can imagine her running around telling all her friends about it. Can you see her smiling and laughing?

I've never worn any hat other than a baseball hat. I would never fit in at the Derby.

I wonder if it's that same girl and her giant cat from before? The eyes seem to be the same piercing eyes.

34

2012-02-25T07:27:00.001-05:00

I am reminded of the short story "The Rocking Horse Winner" by D.H. Lawrence.

I think this cat is almost as big as the girl.

This grandma is not someone I'd want catching me with my hand in the cookie jar.
