How Do You Get a “Check Up from the Neck Up, Anyway?

More Traffic? It’s frustrating, I know. I really feel for you. You work so hard at building your site. But they just don’t come in very large numbers. Often they don’t come in enough numbers to even justify writing your next blog post!

So why ARE you blogging, anyway? What’s the point? You can get massively more traffic and still fail, if you do not know how to segment your traffic, split-test, track your results, email follow with an autoresponder series, and convert your subscribers into customers!

Really…you could have the best product in the world. And you still get ignored…

It’s time for a “check up from the neck up, my friend!

The real question is… How do I do that? How can I visualize what I need to change in the way I am trying to market and advertise for more traffic and conversions?

The answer may be simpler than you think…

The Definition of Insanity

Let me tell you a very short story that just happened today… I joined a Skype group a few years ago. That group is made up of people, who belong to a certain online opportunity system, which is basically little more than an HYIP (High Yield Investment Program).

I joined it, because I thought it looked interesting and wanted to learn and possibly earn a little extra cash, more traffic and conversions, which of course, were all promised by this online system.

I quickly realized, however, looking at the system from the inside view, you’d have to be insane to remain a part of this system, because the only people, who were ever going to make any substantial cash, are side-show carnival barker affiliate promoters. You know the type.

Carnival barker affiliate promoters don’t care what they say or do to other people. Everyone is just a mark, a potential weak-minded person they can hype the program to, and who will likely buy into the system. They are out for one thing and one thing, only, at any cost and by any means… Signups…

So the carnival barker affiliate promoters and the owners of the system get rich at the expense of the “little guy marketer,” who follows along because he doesn’t know any better.

I stopped participating, just about as fast as I stepped into it… Rather, it was like stepping on a cow-pie, because the system stank then. And it stinks, now… And the main reason I can say that is because the system requires meaningless repetition for the price of almost all of your earnings to keep it going, and the return is…peanuts…monkey see…monkey do…monkey gets a poor man’s handout, in return.

Maybe I am describing the kind of “insanity system” you’ve also had some experience with. Maybe, while you’ve been reading this, you realize I am describing the system, in which you are still participating?

Back to the group. I’ve been studying the complaining, whining, whimpering, and “poor me” attitudes that are almost universal in this Skype group of approximate 300 people. I’ve learned a great deal about the “emotional mentality” of the average and would-be internet marketer.

And all that I’ve learned can be condensed down to this… “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” –Albert Einstein

I finally felt strongly this a.m. about telling them this definition of insanity (after two years of listening, but rarely ever participating.) And the response I got was the one I knew before hand I would get… “If you don’t want to be a part of this team…you may get kicked out…” My response was… Let me save you the wasted effort. And so I removed myself, which was long overdue, anyway. My Skype is suddenly a lot quieter, now, when I am online! -lol

Dream Big, Thing Big and Let Go!

One of my all time favorite books is called “The Magic of Thinking Big” by Dr. David Schwartz. It is a tiny book, a fast read, and very old, now. Yet, the concepts are as fresh, today, as the day it was published in 1959. I researched and found a video that talks about the concepts in this book. I feel you will really benefit, both from the video and from purchasing the book, which can be had for very little coin.

You see…this group of people think very small, indeed! And that is what keeps them emotionally enslaved to this online scam system. They fear to let go, because they can’t imagine beyond their blind emotional attachment, how they would ever find another system to replace the one they are in,  now.

In essence, this type of person simply transfers their emotional and mental enslavement mentality from their day time job to their online opportunity system.

It is sad to watch and most unfortunate that this group of nearly three hundred persons are barely conscious of their continual complaining about not getting paid much for their efforts, and not being allowed to take their earnings out in a timely manner. In fact, they must often take turns with a wife, sister or brother, sitting at the computer, virtually 24 hours a day, waiting for that magical moment, when the online system business owners tell them they can withdraw up to a set limit, usually fifty dollars!

And they choose to do the same thing over and over and over, again… What else can you call this, except a fear enslavement that leads to insanity…?

Not one of these three hundred individuals can allow themselves to–dream big, think big and…just let go…

And yet it is exactly taking the risk that propels us forward, burning the bridge behind us, so there is no escape from the decision we’ve made. It is “do or die.” It is sink or swim…win or lose at the battle and challenge of online entrepreneurship and business-building, marketing, advertising and self-promotion.

I choose to dream big, think big and let go, every day, regardless of the outcome, regardless of whether I win or lose at the challenge of making a full time income from my online business efforts!

Life is a Risk…With No Guarantees…

This concept scares the average person I have been describing. After all…isn’t it better to make a little bit, which you know you are eventually going to get, even if it means starving and not paying your bills on time, rather than ever taking the risk of…possibly losing it all…?

I give myself a “check up from the neck up,” a reality check every single day, I am blessed with the good fortune of living on earth. The way I do this in the form of mind-mapping, creating a visual picture of where I want to go, along with the action steps to achieve the level of online business success I am seeking.

Internet Classifieds? Are they even effective?

Does your free ad get lost amongst millions of other classified ads, due to wrong category placement? Is there a better way to place your internet classifieds, as an internet marketer? Whenever I place a classified ad on any of the major classifieds sites, I encounter a great deal of “user unfriendliness,” as an internet marketer. So what do I mean by that?

Does it frustrate you, like it does me, when placing your products, services or affiliate internet classifieds on most classifieds sites, hunting and pecking for the right category to place your classified ads? When is the last time you placed a classified that the site owner(s) offered to personally assist you with your ads by creating a custom category for your products or services–for free?

These are some of the many questions I asked myself, when I decided to add in a classified ads section to the Think Differently | Think Money blog site. I will admit I started to add in all of the standard industry categories, which don’t really mean much to the majority of us, who are in internet marketing. And then I suddenly stopped. Then I asked myself “why are you following the same tired old pattern?,” not to mention the monumental task of entering in all of these enormous numbers of top level and sub-categories.

Staying True to the Think Differently | Think Money Philosophy

I was not following my own site philosophy of think differently | think money, was I? Then it occurred to me that the majority of visitors to my site will be–other internet marketers, or those who are desirous of entering the internet marketing arena. That’s when I got hit with a little lightning bolt (nothing earthshaking – lol).

Why not base the classifieds section on internet classifieds as the major focus for visitors? That suddenly made all the sense in the world to me! Whether the concept proves to be well-founded or foolish, remains to be seen. Will you, my visitors, use the Internet Classifieds section? Will you help me make the concept a success?

According to Google Analytics this site is already approaching three hundred visitors per day, and it is just getting off the ground and starting to take shape! So what does that mean to you, if you place an internet classifieds ad, free or paid, here on the site? It means your internet classifieds ad will have high visibility and relevance, especially because it is not a crowded playing field, yet…

How to Write Killer Headlines for Your New TDTM Internet Classifieds

Writing an absolute killer headline for your classified ad usually causes most people to go…blank… Ugh! I just can’t come up with a great headline! So you settle for the first thing that comes to mind…instead of the sixth or seventh, or even the tenth headline idea that you exert a little extra force of mind to put together. And sometimes the first headline phrase is, well…killer!

I find, however, that rarely do I ever come up with a winning headline the first go around in my head. If however, I slow myself down and agree with myself to spend fifteen or twenty minutes really searching for the best headline I can creatively think up, I open up a blank notepad file and begin writing down more headline ideas, until I feel I have exhausted all possibilities. That may take me five minutes…or thirty.

Personally, I often find that it is the fourth, fifth, or sixth headline idea that pops into my head that is the “killer” I will choose to use for my classified. Digging around on YouTube (and it wasn’t easy to find valuable related content on the subject of classified ads and classified ads headlines, I finally found the following video called “How to Create Persuasive Headlines – Business Letter Tips.” The principle, however, is the same in all winning headlines creation.

So watch the video. Learn the principle and technique. Then apply it to effectively writing killer internet classifieds headlines.

I hope you found the video as informative as I did. With over 22,000 views the advice the speaker gives is hardly lightweight. I will certainly use his concepts in my own internet classifieds headline writing efforts.

The First Step to Internet Marketing Success

The first step to internet marketing success is to build a blog–one that really matters. And then you must learn how to drive more traffic to it–massively more traffic.
