That is the world of the many top local graphic designers like Justin Cline. He has been working his own firm successfully for the past 5 years here in Denver...

Creating art is hard. It doesn’t matter what medium you are into. You also have to love it. It must be what drives you or there is no way in hell you would put in the hours you do if you didn’t love it. Now if you could only get your client to understand how personally you take your work.

That is the world of the many top local Denver graphic designers like Justin Cline. He has been working his own firm successfully for the past 5 years here in Denver with more than enough satisfied clients to showcase just how successful he’s been.

I can’t tell you how much of a pleasure Justin has been to work with for the past 3 years, he is a leading member on my team for web design and everyone we show our work to loves what he does. Thanks Justin. I really like his new blog. so I thought I would give a shout on mine because I think its just that spiffy.

If you haven’t heard of Ashley Fiolek yet, you will soon enough. At only 17 and not to mention deaf, she is one of Motocross’ brightest rising stars

She’s been racing since she was 7 and since 2004 has been taking things to a whole new level:

“I decided to implement new standards for myself and this is when I really started to work and train hard to achieve my goals. That year I won Loretta Lynn’s, the nation’s most prestigious amateur national, in the girl’s 9-13 class on my 85cc Honda. I went undefeated for the week winning all three of my moto’s.”

                                                                                                                         -Ashley Fiolek

Now she’s gone completely pro, riding a Honda 250f 4 stroke and is VERY comfortable as you can tell…

Ashley is sponsored by Red Bull and from this very nice promo video they put together you can see why they are willing to put their name out there with hers!

Dan Plym of the TEMG crew got called up to support <a href=http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1048787/" target="_blank" class="seo">David Quint as he ran camera to catch the action right on the track during all of Ashley’s races at Thunder Valley Lakewood, Colorado. What a day, Ashley won all of her motos for the day (not a big surprise) and had the fans going crazy. Was a lot of fun working with the pros on a major shoot and we are definitely looking forward to more to come!

Its everywhere and its becoming a natural reaction for anyone wanting to express themselves on the web. I wanted to take some time to review a few of the different ways to engage in the act of creating a video blog posting, because there are lots of ways to get your content out besides the regular stops like YouTube and MySpace…

FreeVlog.org

This site is very simple to use and offers a lot of resources for everyone, new and old to video blogging. The biggest resource on this site is how easy it is to get started and there is even a free tutorial that walks you through it step by step. Some posts are fun like “Videoblogs On The iPhone“, or informative like ” How To Install And Setup WordPress<!—more—>“.

VideoBlogging.info

This is definitely an artists domain here observing the roots of early film making and how they feel it should transcend to the web. I was impressed by how many different ways people out there were using just static random shots to tell a story. The rules are simple: 60 seconds max. Fixed camera. No audio. No zoom. No edit. No effects.

Vator.tv

Vator.tv is definitely a business driven video blogging site. The focus here is to give people with a business idea or existing model a way to connect with possible investors. Here its all about the “pitch” and how well you can sell your concept and find a venture capitalist willing to take a chance on it. There are definitely some heavy duty investors here, even Forbes 400 man Mark Cuban has a video post on there to tell everyone what he’s looking for when it comes to investment opportunities.

These were some of the highest ranking sites for the google keywords “video blogging”. It will be interesting to see what other kinds of sites come about that connect people together to just meet, speak their minds or do business with one another.

Hmmm maybe there is something to this “video on the web” after all…

However now that rich media and specifically video is so widely accepted it ups ante for quality. The balancing point to this though becomes accessibility. Companies are already enjoying being able to take advantage of "engagement branding".

“In an era where consumers control their media experiences, rich media provides more valuable and engaging experiences than most standard online advertising. When executed well, rich media can exponentially out-perform standard ad units”

- Jason Heller, Managing Director, Horizon Interactive

<a href="http://www.miketheinternetguy.com" target=_blank">

Broadband is here and taking advantage of the penetration rate gets easier every day. eMarketer predicts that by early 2008 over 157 million Americans will be accessing the Internet via a broadband connection. Companies are already enjoying being able to take advantage of “engagement branding”.

However now that rich media and specifically video is so widely accepted it ups ante for quality. The balancing point to this though becomes accessibility. Marketing dollars go so much further in an environment that is always on 24 hours a day and more importantly you know that your consumer is seeking your message. They want to hear about how you are better than your competition. They want to know what you have to offer against the literally thousands of other choices they have sitting in their google search window.

In fact folks are so adept at seeking the services they want there are even wi-fi gadgets like Chumby that sit on your physical desktop and keep track of all the extra things they entertain themselves with online.

My next door neighbor’s front yard is dominated by two towering pine trees that create a canopy touching the roof line. The other day, I was getting out of my car and I heard some commotion coming from those trees. Looking up i saw a huge white and brown hawk burst through and ascended.

In direct pursuit were four laughing crows, they were heckling and taunting the hawk as it attempted to get back the prey they had stolen. The four rumbled around the hawk like a gang of dirt bike kids. And like a bunch of delinquent kids they are good at sharing information but not goods. Crows, like good thieves, steal more then they need and stash the rest. A carcass could sit there and be picked clean by 500 crows in a matter of hours. They won’t eat it all but the news of food spreads out and gathering, they all steal more than they need. To me this sounds like the most popular internet destinations:

YouTube, Napster and BitTorrents like The Pirate Bay.

The most successful web communication has involved copyright infringement, patent infringement and content stealing. But these are by-products of like minded scavengers connecting and sharing information.

The hawk stole the life of his prey which was stolen by a brazen group of crows. Likewise, the kid who downloads some digital copy of some CD from some other kid in some other part of the world is a thief as much as a murder of crows are. To label them and turn your back on them means you miss out on their disposable income. The way we communicate is being shaped regardless of legislation and patents. Any business that depends on getting leads from the web needs to understand this. Any local business depending on advertising and promotion should be looking for a murder of crows.

How do you do that? Jump on traffic generated from other businesses. No one is an expert yet, it is like looking for a motion film professor in 1913.

“On Monster everyone was over resumed and under qualified. I could not find the web production talent I needed there. And it was too expensive use Monster. So, when I went to shows that I thought were promoted well I would talk to the promoter. See if he wants side work, or a whole new job. I find videos I like on YouTube and email the creator. i find great writers on their own blogs. I go to where they are.”

As local businesses realize that Online promotion is essential, it will create a creative class that is used to the cross platform mist that our media environment has become. There is no set game plan yet. For now, small business owners should all look to the sky and find the clatter of black crows circling the next big thing.
