We are extremely pleased to announce the advent of the brand new Thirdspace. We’ve kept this project low profile as we wanted to surprise of the changes.

The Thirdspace site has had a complete revamp of the layout. Things are cleaner, easier and more pleasing to the eyes. We’ve streamed everything so contents are of greater priority then everything else. It is now easier to scan pages, especially if you’re in a rush. Getting to the places you want on Your site is now easier than ever with everything on one side and clearly pointed out and simplified.

The theme is flashy and yet extremely clean. The colours are more together and easier on the eyes. You’ll truly get what we’re talking about by checking it here.

What is Cloud Computing?

You here this term more and more these days and more and more people ask me that same question. What is Cloud Computing? Sounds fancy but really isn't. Cloud computing is just your everyday computing done over the web. Its done in the 'Cloud' - On serves not of your own. For example, Google Docs is cloud document processing. You write, save and share your documents online (or more commonly known as in the cloud). The original content is not saved directly on your computer, though you can download a copy. Just imagine an actual cloud, and everything is stored there - Way above you in a secure place; somewhere people can't touch but you.

You probably haven't realized it but pretty much everything you do is in the Cloud. From Facebook, to emails (yes, even if you use a desktop email program like Outlook - Your emails are stored on foreign servers ... The Cloud). Its all handled on servers run by big companies with secure servers.

Security?
How secure is the cloud? Very secure. Your are rest assured by the big companies like Yahoo, Goodle, Microsoft, Zoho and .etc. Corporate institutions have teams of hundreds (if not thoudands) working around the clock to ensure your content and personal details are safe. This saying, does not mean that it can't be penetrated. It has happened to Sony recently but how often does this happen?

Functionality?
Thus far, cloud apps (ie. web apps or SaaS - Software as a Service) aren't really as super-functional as their desktop counterparts. Web Apps are generally to do the simple stuff and nothing too complex. Reasons are that not all people do not currently have the necessary bandwidth and speed to handle mass data transfer (not enough of a market).

They generally do the simple, yet functional, things that benefit those in need. From displaying the latest news, collaborating people, social networking, photo editing, slideshow creation, to website making.

The Future?
As they say, Cloud Computing is the future and there's no doubt about that. Google has been developing the Chrome OS - The future of Operating Systems explicitly designed for the web, for Cloud Computing.

Fast Five Review

It's the wedding of the year... maybe even the wedding of the decade! Prince William and Catherine Middleton got married toda... wait, what's that? There's a new Fast & Furious movie in cinemas? Now?

Well... I think we know what takes precedence here.

The fifth installment in the immensely popular Fast & Furious movie franchise is a near perfect fusion of action, cars, a storyline that you can actually re-tell and... more cars.

Now I don't want to give too much away, and so I'm going to tell you the bare minimum storyline. In a nutshell, the head honcho, Dom, leads a team of racers from various Fast & Furious films of the past on a daring mission to collapse the network of a crime lord and a corrupt police force in Brazil.

The way the directors have fused cars and a heist so well is truly amazing. In fact, the picture on this article is directly related to that, but to see how, you'll just have to watch the movie.

I highly recommend Fast Five for guys AND girls alike, and when you've seen it, why not come back here and leave a comment telling us your favorite car from the film?

Pendulum is are an Australian-British drum and bass and electronic rock band .. I recently discovered them,and I'm amazed.. With the advent of Windows 7, Microsoft has really stepped up the plate due to their ruined reputation with Windows Vista. I’ve dug through the snazzy features of Windows 7and given the 15 shortcuts that will boost your productivity. Productivity is essential and these 15 will ensure the best.

In this tip, we will use ^ as the Windows Icon on your keyboard and if in Italic, refers to a specific key on your keyboard. The + means in unison:

I hate when somebody's lieing to me bad,you know,that is so stupid and annoying.but, there are some really good liers , like my brother, he is an expert .. and how do you know when somebody is lieing ? well,the person is not making an eye contact,he,or she tries to change the subject,or he/she is "playing" with something. And its so funny when someone you know is lieing,and making up an impossible story :D

More and more on the news, I hear of complaints of airbrushes in mags and other forms of media. They're airbrushes of models not looking like what they really. As the years go by, more and more people are disliking this concept of ‘fake’ people. They want real looking people with real wrinkles, skin and all. Now this is perfectly understandable.

Yet who is getting criticized? Not the models (not saying they should) or the media itself but Photoshop Artists who spend hours of their time working these master pieces.

It is only there job to do so and the job of the model to pose, so the culprit is really the media. You can’t blame the Artists and models for doing a good job … a very good job.

Now think of who started all this. It was the consumer who wanted the fantasy and the producer who enticed it. The Artist just got stuck in the middle of it – They needed a middle person … a scapegoat.

Due to consumer demand, media are changing their attitude to fakes. I guess they’re good for entertainment but not the real thing; when millions of women (including girls) are influenced by them.

What about young kids? We don’t want them attempting to achieve something that is merely possible. Not all of them will understand.

All in all, it isn’t the Photoshop Artists fault and people should really stop blaming them. A lot of people really don’t know what these talented Artists really do. A lot of the media you see are influenced and have some part with Photoshop Artist
(ie. Posters, films, photography, you favourite companies, .etc) They are top contributors to our world and really make us happy – Realise it or not; its very subconscious.

A different approach to my blog today, i figured most people don't want to hear about how to live life.

I i believe there are many ways to live life and experts say these too, so heree it goes :D

1.LOVE :D whether they are your bestie or not love them :P, these are the most important :D

2.Get outdoors-self explanatory

3.Take Chances- take the risk? is it worth it?

4.Re-discover what is important

5.Kiss in the Rain- admit it girls, we all have that dream :D

7.Laugh till you are crying, we all need to laugh it out sometimes

8. CRY- Do not let your emotions be held within

9. LIVE IN THE MOMENT- this may be hard for many people but, we all need to live day by day

This last pointer was told to me by a very wise friend. they did not put it in the exact words but i knew what they meant.

10. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

So guyss,

Holidays are coming up, how amazingly terrific, but hey,no slacking off. One thing i noticed in general life is teenagers, they don't believe in them self? but why? is this due to the occurance of being called stupid or maybe dumb, or do they just feel down? i have hear many girls say, i will always be alone. And really who cares.

One thing i have recently discovered, is really live life to the full expectations, your expectations :D

When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile..

this quote is really simple to live by... i recently heard about a young girl, who had a fear, and she faced that fear, can you do the same? or can you chicken out?

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back..... I have quoted this in bold because it is true :D

Cyclone Bianca - A Biography

If you’re reading this article and you actually know where the city of Perth is (that’s Western Australia by the way… now you know), then you may have heard of Tropical Cyclone Bianca. Bianca was the second Western Australian cyclone EVER to travel as far south as Perth.

Again, if you’re reading this article, we can safely assume you are somewhat technologically savvy… or, at the very least, you know how to get onto the internet. Due to Thirdspace’s marketing on Facebook, there’s a good chance you found this article from there. A quick search will reveal that Cyclone Bianca failed to do much damage to Perth, and that a lot of students in the area were… disappointed?

The reason for these students’ disappointment is that (in their words) “nothing ever happens in Perth”. So what happened to Bianca that kept this saying going? Here is the story of Tropical Cyclone Bianca, in a very biographical form…

Cyclone Bianca (born 21 January 2011, died 30 January 2011) was a tropical cyclone born into the Australian Regional Cyclone Generation 2010-11.

Biography

Bianca was born in the first month of 2011. Her mother, Carpenteria, sent her away to fend for herself at a very young age. This did not phase Bianca, however, and she quickly matured through Cyclone School, graduating with Category 4 Honours.

History

Bianca, like most of her cyclonic peers, was adventurous at heart. But, unlike most other cyclones, she was not content to travel along a straight bar near the equator. She instead travelled southward, next to Westralia. She quickly became the talk of many towns and cities in the land, but it was Perth, a small city, who was most infatuated with her. Against the better judgement of his parents James Stirling and Australia, and unbeknownst to his citizens, Perth shyly asked Bianca out on a date. She agreed.

Date with Perth and Death

On the 29th of January, Bianca was on her way to meet Perth for their date when she heard some upsetting news. Apart from the disapproval of her by Perth’s loved ones, she learned that the city’s usually calm and friendly Climate also disliked her, and was prepared to do anything to stop the date from going ahead. Doubts rose in her mind; after all, Perth was a bit of a loner by nature. Even some of Mrs Zealand’s children lived closer to Perth’s siblings than he did.

With all these factors adding up against her, Bianca was overwhelmed and weakened with sorrow. Never had she encountered such hatred in her entire 8 days of life. Losing the will to live, she stood Perth up on their date, and allowed herself to fall into the clutches of the pursuing Climate, who promptly ended her life with an onslaught of dryness to the eye. Her demise was witnessed by many.

Post-Death Events

The Climate, captured and found guilty of Bianca’s murder, was punished severely; Bianca’s remains were to be scattered over it for 2 days. Despite this punishment, many citizens of Perth regarded the Climate as the hero of the event.

Perth was deeply saddened by Bianca’s death. She was a one-and-only to him, as those Cyclone types rarely visited his area. He continues to mourn her death, and has already attempted to throw his Climate out. This impulsive action was avoided by his citizens (who enjoyed the Climate’s company) and his aunt, the Indian Ocean.

Legacy

Much of the younger generation residing in Perth and surrounding areas were saddened by the loss of Bianca (despite their knowledge that the Cyclonic species had a knack for clumsiness and doing damage). They criticized the Climate for his murder of the young Cyclone, saying he was a bad influence on Perth and was only causing the city to retain the nickname “Dullsville”.

Memorials were placed in Bianca’s honour, on the famous memorial website Facebook (the site has already acknowledged the deaths/extinctions of Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, West Coast Eagles fans, Chuck Norris victims, non-awkward moments and jokes that do not require the acronym “LOL”). Some expressed their awe at Bianca’s boldness in the act of standing up a city on a date, while others begged her to become somehow resurrected and attempt the date again. Needless to say, Bianca and the drama that would come with her did not go un-missed.

Bianca now lies over Westralia, and some of her remains are stored in the home of Perth’s uncle, the Southern Ocean.

Contradictons in English

We all know English is full of contradictions. But there's one contradiction that really is a pet-hate: Phonetics. What dos phonetics mean? Its means to spell a word as it sounds! Now look a it! ... seriously look at it! Phonetics is spelt with a Ph not F. What it really should be spelt like is Fonetics: As the meaning says. This is something that I thought of and wanted to let my loyal readers and visitors thinking and enticed.

Believe it or not. Microsoft Office 2010 sells every second ever since its release. This not an exaggeration or some PR/Marketing scam. Another true fact, Office generates a third of Microsoft’s revenue. For the eighth year in a row, Microsoft Office was the No. 1-selling software product in U.S. retail measured by dollar volume, outpacing games and security software.

3 Facts and Statistics:

Globally, one copy of Office 2010 sells every second.
More than 30 million people tried Office Web Apps, the browser-based version of Office, within the first 100 days of release.
More than 100 million SharePoint licenses have been sold to more than 17,000 customers.

Think about it, Office pretty much dominates Windows and Macs, think of how many computers you use and how many of them have Office. Microsoft truly has market dominance.

Before Office 2010 connected with businesses and consumers, it first won praise from many product reviewers in the press. “At last, the suite that users built,” read one headline in InfoWorld. The Boston Globe called Office 2010 “an update worthy of the networked world.”

InfoWorld writer Neil McAllister asked at the beta launch, “So how can Microsoft improve on a product that many customers considered feature-complete long ago?”

The answer – both McAllister’s and Microsoft’s – was by fine-tuning the user experience, expanding it to the Web, and further embracing mobile.

A move we can see in Office Web Apps that is also compatible with mobiles.

“We set out to deliver the best productivity experience across the PC, the phone, and the browser,” Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Office Division product management group, said. “That’s so fundamental because the days of people just sitting at their desks and working on their PCs are long gone. Office 2010 is bringing the right capabilities at the right time and helping customers improve productivity and cut costs.”

Google Docs and Zoho now have serious competition in the office web apps market. It was once only Zoho who dominated; then Google came along and everybody thought Google dominated; now comes Microsoft ... who next?

That’s why Koenigsbauer believes Office 2010 products will continue to win over customers and keep the momentum rolling. He added that those “right capabilities” go beyond productivity tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools. The full productivity portfolio also delivers unified communications, email, content management, enterprise search, business intelligence, and social networking capabilities.

“We believe no one has the breadth or depth to deliver productivity and collaboration services like Microsoft does,” Koenigsbauer said.

I certainly believe this statement is correct. Microsoft Office is truly the most tried and trusted office suite known to man. Open Office and Libre Office have serious competition.

Do Designers really need Uni degrees?

Designing comes from the heart. Its something that you're pationate about. More and more these days, employers are hireing designing with qualifications. I strongly beliveing thats a disgrace in the design world! Yes, I understand that even the most innate designer will still learn skills from degrees; but we have the Web for that.

I'm a designer myself and I've learnt everything and more from the Web, though I am innate myself. From personal experience, I have people asking me to design things for them and they love it. Now I'm not trying to sound like a stuck-up but its true. I'm not the only one: I have fellow designers friends who expreience the same. What does this tell you? Design comes from the heart not from lecturers.

I'm not here to criticise the Uni degrees out there, they're good alright, but employers really shouldn't be hiring desginers based on qualification - They should judge based on original work by the applicant (aka Designer)

Design isn't the only thing this is an issue with, other occupations have the same (if not worse). If I have time, I will let you know.

Could you call Chrome Webstore an actual appstore?

Ever since I heard of Google announcing the much anticipated Chrome Webstore. I was thrilled that we finally have an appstore for the web and computers - Not just iPhone/Androide and the like. Months of waiting, it finally came. My Chrome browser automatically updated (as it usually does) so it is capable of the Webstore feature and it came with two apps: Entanglement and Poppit - Which are both pretty good. I then go to the Webstore and am thrilled again by the variety! As I start installing the apps, I discover something disappointing ... they don't work like apps do.

They are pretty much website with a "App Sticker" stuck on them. When you launch them, they go directly to the site. They aren't fresh apps, they're pre-made web apps - It redirects you to them. Now you may think that's ingenious but I also find that disappointing. Now get this - Not all the apps are like it.Now you can't really call that an app when it redirects you to its original site.

Google did go on about it embracing WebGl technology (Web Based Graphics Library). You can basically create 3D content for the web! Previously attempted with VRML. Now an app built with WebGl, I can give credit to.

With most of the apps, you can access via the url, no need to 'get' the app. The apps from the Chrome Webstore are essentially shortcuts to actual web apps that are already available. And if an app has been built specifically, it is actually hosted on their servers - Which is what usually happens with iPhone/Android apps but is still disappointing. Your really actually accessing websites. I can even create one for Thirdspace!

I classify this as a shameful act by Google. A prestigious and highly respected company who has changed the world as we know it! They should, and do, know better.

I must admit - Very smart of the developers and Google to make themselves look good with awesome 'apps'.

Earth Hour is tonight!

Earth Hour’s Vote Earth launches The People’s Orb, a shimmering silver sphere encasing a 350 gigabyte hard drive with video, images and documents representing the hundreds of millions of people who voted Earth to call for action on climate change. A tangible representation of the voice of the world’s people, The People’s Orb relays from Sydney to Copenhagen in the care of a variety of custodians ranging from former heads of state to iconic rock stars.

Global awareness of climate change soars to unprecedented levels during an historic meeting of 192 nations at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. Vote Earth campaign culminates on 16th December with Earth Hour Copenhagen. The People’s Orb, is entrusted to UN Chef de Cabinet, Vijay Nambiar to be presented to world leaders. The People’s Orb takes centre stage in the plenary on the final day of the conference alongside UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, in front of President of the United States, Barack Obama, Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, COP President and Climate Minister Connie Hedegaard and over 100 heads of state.

Guitar Hero Arcade

I'm about to go to the local arcade and blitz the GHA machine so I thought I'd look around and check the song list. Only to my surprise, I found that there was no TTFAF (Through The Fire And Flames)! The song that had made GH so famous had been given a swift kick up the butt! Thank goodness that the arcade I go to uses a card, because Konami are charging $2 a song, and $3 a "premium" song! To me, I think that once game designers have reached perfection, don't ditch it!

Hey, I'm here blogging again. The ~~developers~~ developer @ Thirdspace is currently working on the forum. It's not all that tough. You can find a source code here. (Sorry about the informal link!) This is actually for a chatroom but we are working on a forum. (AND a sign up.) I hope you don't mind, but when it's just me, facebook and blogger user checking is slightly too difficult.

Anyway, I just thought you'd like to know about our progress on the forum.

Gaming a history and a review

I was sitting on the couch playing Grand Turismo 5 the other day and I began to realize how far gaming had come in just over half a century (52 years to be precise {the game was tennis for 2})

From these humble beginnings came the rise an extremely large empire. Many empires ! (The Babylonians from AOE I was my favourite!) But the idea of video games took a while to progress.

The early days of gaming, (1958-1992) Classics sprang up everywhere there were: starwars, streets of rage, tetris, donkey kong, frogger, pacman, space invaders, street fighter, super mario bros, super mario kart, abes odeussey and final fantasy just to name a few!

But how do these old games compare to the modern games that have action, story, graphics and level design. And then it hit me, they have passion and simplicity. If it works for websites, books, movies, etc. it must work for games!

Getting the right present for Christmas

Its almost christmas and you're probably wondering what to get for your family and friends. Christmas is one for the most stressful times of the year with so much worries and responsibilities. You know it doesn't have to be that way. That's what's Thirdspace's for. To give you the best.

We first have to start with who's our target and their age. Age is an important factor when coming to buying presents; you wouldn't go by a toy truck fro a 50 year old nor would a buy a bunch of flowers for a three year old. If the target is 12 or under, then you would get them a toy. To break that down even more: If they're 5 or under, get them a toy that is fun yet educational. It is absolutely crucial for their physical and mental development.

We'll up to the 13-15 year old category. The younger teenagers. Young teenagers really like their tech. Haven't got an iPod? Get them one, if they do, a great time to upgrade. The latest iPods have the dual cameras and Facetime. Laptops are a big hit and getting really cheap now and are a real hit. Afterall, they are reaching the age with where they have the stacks of homework/assignments and computers (with an internet connection) are absolutely crucial.

Now we are moving up to the 16-18 category. The big ones. Yes, they do like their tech but they're more into something more useful as, afterall, they are entering adult-hood and self-dependency. A car or some money would be nice.

Now in the adult category, it greatly varies. You really need to get to know the person as they quite vary. Spend some time talking to them about their interests, if you don't know already.

Buying the perfect gift really comes down to who they are and how much you know them. Remember, you can always try Secret Santa.
