penny we earn to be well utilized for our expenses. I admire those people who can discipline themselves on spending and saving. It takes a lot of effort and perseverance to balance the “needs” versus the “wants”. I am still on that phase of identifying how much money do I need to spare for my expenditures, may it be on food, bills fare and even on my budget for dates.I know I always end up splurging a lot on my wants rather than the needs. Saving is inevitably easy saying than doing, always.

Money management is a daily dilemma every one of us is whining about. There is only one simple rule, do not to spend more than what you can earn except for basic and emergency needs. True enough, why would someone be as luxurious if only beyond his/her means. If there is an emergency especially when it comes to health, the need for money is justifiable.

What if someone can not make both ends meet? That is when credit comes along. It has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on the purpose of the purchase. Is it for investment or for plainly leisure? If to be invested, better, but, if for leisure, think twice. Just in case you really need credit, a good credit score can help you. It provides career and advice on personal finance. But, no matter how much you read and learned, the way you handle your finances is all up to you.

Job Fair Schedule 2012

I know how hard it is to have a job. It has been a common use on the internet for today's generation. I am not going to weigh its advantages and disadvantages. I would like to share this quote I have read on my friend's wall. Its inspiring and realistic.

Don't just have a career or academic goals. set goals to give you a balanced successful life. i use the word balanced before successful. balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order. There's no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. there is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. if the marble falls, there is no point coming first. same is with life where health and relationships are the marbles. your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die.

One thing about nurturing the spark - Don't take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we all are really temporary here. we are like a prepaid card with limited validity. if we are lucky, we may last another 50 years and 50 years is just 2500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up?

It's ok, bunk a few classes, scoring low in couple of papers, goof up a few interviews, take leave from work, enjoy with your friends, fall in love, little fights with your loved ones. We are people , not programmed devices.

"Don't be Serious, Be Sincere"
- Chetan Bhagat

I can relate to this. I remember my cousin who has been promoted and got the salary he dreamed of for his age. He was happy and yet, more than sad. During those times, his father, my uncle, is in the hospital struggling for his life. My cousin could only pay rare visits due to his commitment to his work. When my uncle died, my cousin told us that there is more to life than just money and career. He might have improved on them sooner without sacrificing his time with his father. We can never buy back time but we can still have a job and earn money.

What had happened to me is the opposite of my cousin. I did not regret it. When my father died by 2009, I was there almost all the time. I may be on struggle for my career now, but I can move forward easily as I have not wasted time during the last moments of my father's life. For every this we miss, we gain something else.

Quality Goals for 2012

Since I was blogging from 2008, I have not made any written goals forNew Year. The thing is, I am afraid of failing to do them. I feel like being pressured in fulfilling my goals . However, this year, I just realized that I should not have been intimidated by my fear of failure. It is important to have a goal because it gives clarity to end our vision. Who would want to be wandering around in life?

I feel like lost already. A traveler without direction would probably lost in track. One has to have an end in mind to plan and prepare in order to reach a destination. Goal setting is a just a part of the whole process. I wanted to start things right that’s why I will be having athis list to drive me forward.

1. Shift career – I believe I can do so much more. I have more to prove to myself than what I am in now. I am currently searching for avenues to shift career to IT. When I know I can do it, I will, whatever it takes. Life is too short to spend on something I do not want. As the saying goes, you will regret not for the things you did, but for things you could have done in the past. The shift should be this year, and I’ll start this month. I am happy I have my support group that wishes well for my career.

2. Buff Up – Remain slim, get fat, diet a little, shape up a bit. I have never been contented with my figure. I always wanted to be what I’m not. I am slim mer now than I was a year ago. Well, I have already decided to buff up again and just maintain 112 lbs.

3. Boost business – I do not have an idea how to do this. My computer shop is still on operation. My next target is having an online business and my ultimate plan for this is year is to buy a car to start up a taxi business. The investment is quite big for me but I hope it would turn out good.

4. Spend less, save more – Easy to say, but difficult to do. From now on, I will be alloting a certain amount of my salary every payday for savings. I will not also use my computer shop’s earnings to splurge for shopping.

5. Spare time to blog – I have only a few posts last year. Again, to do this, I will be having a single day every week to blog. I can do it in the office or at home. There would be no excuse this time.

6. Make time to read – I have unfinished books at home. Once I got bored of the story, I start to read a new one leaving a few books uncompleted. I already have a list of books to read this year. But before starting with them, I will get done with the old ones.

7. Spend more time with family – I stay here in Manila for work on weekdays. On weekends, when I don’t have any activity in particular, I go home to Bulacan and spend the day with family. But more often than not, I spend a bigger portion of my weekend with my boyfriend. This is what I wanted to lessen since we still both have to catch up time with our families.

8. Improve my social life – My social life has taken its backseat for a while now. Three of my college friends have children already which hinders us to see each other in addition to tight schedules of some. Since I graduated from high school, I rarely see my friends back then. I am still thankful that even with some years apart, we got to see each other occasionally. We even plan to travel some time this year. I am smelling some imrpovement already.

9. Be a bitch – Not literally. I am looking forward for Sherry Argov’s Why Men Love Bitches book. I have read a part of it and I am pretty sure it would help my relationship with my man. I long to change the unselfish part of me that demands him to center his life on me. We both have our own lives to improve. At some part, its not advisable to just depend on us no matter how much deeply in love we are.

10. Get things more organized, value time– Oh, make that ALL things in general, all the smallest details, from the time I wake up to sun down, I should plan my day productively. Goodbye to my, “do-it-later” habit, hello “do-it-now” whenever possible. I have wasted a lot of time already and I can’t afford to lose more this time.

I am positive that I can live up with my list. Some are difficult, but not impossible. From now on, I will banish negativity. At the end of the year, I am hoping, I am so much different from what I am today. Hello 2012! Please be the best, I will too okay?

10 Things I Am Thankful For This 2011

Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

Oprah Winfrey

1. My work – I may not have the best and high paying career out there but I am still grateful that I have one. I am luckier than some millions of Filipinos who are unemployed especially those people who badly need a job to feed their family.

2. My brother’s return – After more than a year of working in Dubai, my brother came back home just in time for the Christmas day. He arrived last Dec 23. We do not have parents anymore and it’s a relief that I spent the Christmas with my siblings unlike last year.

3. My relatives – No man is an island. Even the richest person needs someone to make his life worth living. My relatives have always been my support group. My life’s decision would be harder without them guiding me.

4. My Beau, my man - He makes me happy. There is no place in this world more comforting than his arms. We may argue on certain things from time to time but we both know that no matter how we have pissed each other , as much as we wanted to prove each of us is right, at the end of incoherent discussion, it is not the question of whose fault it is, but, what should be done to make things right and smooth again.

5. My Friends – Ever since I graduated from high school, I lost track of my friends and their whereabouts. We hang out very seldom and yet, though it has already been years since then, it seems that nothing has changed. We are still the same persons we used to be way back high school

6. This is so me – I am thankful for my blog. I have my own venue to rant, share or anything that I feel like expressing at any point of my life.

7. The Past - It makes me realize that life can still be better despite all the trials I have been through. It reminds me of both the good and the bad that happened which made me who I am today.

8. Health – For all the stress that I have been through, I am so much thankful for having good health. None of us is in 100% perfect health and having a good one is a blessing.

9. Planner – Seems so odd right? Whenever I would like to remember something I did for over a month, I just read my planner. It contains everything, from my weekend activities, what I wear and even the restaurants I eat. It’s always a part of my New Year, a new planner to keep track of all the things.

10. I have no major losses this year. Nevertheless, I am grateful for everything that has not been taken away from me that I can still live with next year.

Our First and Happy.. (Anniversary) at One Tagaytay Place

After being broken and left behind last year, I was able to cope again. Only time heals everything and it blew so fast. I don't want to sound so in love, but I am. This would be first post that I would be talking about my boyfriend alone. Sounds too high school? Then let's call him my beau. Here is a rundown of how we started.

We became friends (through my ex), chatted almost everyday, shared a lot of each other's life stories, exchanged love and life advices, went out twice and before we know it, we fell.

The funny thing is that, we were both on the verge of liking someone before we turned out to be good friends. I even bought him a souvenir from my trip to Singapore to show my appreciation for our friendship. During his birthday, he treat me out. Neither of us gave meaning on the times we had fun with each other's company, at least not for me. Only my sister gave me suspicious antics about his intention. I never expected what we have would extend beyond friendship, really, considering a lot of differences.

Just say never and you'll see. This was my Facebook status a year and three days ago, when he confessed what he felt for me. I still felt just as happy today as we celebrate our first anniversary. He dropped by 1 am to fetch my things and after work we had dinner and went home. The next day, we went to Tagaytay with two of his friends, Gayle and Joseph.

<img style="display:block; How long has it been? My last post was on April, barely seven months ago. I am still thankful that I still have the PR 2 ranking. Here is the tale. It’s quite long.

How I feel

I couldn’t hide my longing for blogging. I always feel my yearning for writing every time I visit this spot. Everyday, I always have access to the internet at the office. That’s straight, 9 hours or more a day. But I only can pay my blog a visit, got no time for posting or should I say, I just can’t make time for it? I missed everything about the whole process, writing, sharing, reading and most of all, gaining knowledge from other’s experiences and even making new friends. I have met a few and that’s another story to be posted.

What made me busy

I have been praying to have a job when I was a bum, a common wish of everyone unemployed. I wanted to get more out of my life than just staying at home and looking after my small computer shop. And here I am, the wish was granted. I am robotic with my wake-up-at-6 and be-at-the-office-before-8:30 schedule. The grass is always greener at the other side of the fence. Employees struggle to save up and have a business of their own. While on the other hand, some business owners, tired of being at home, would like to experience sturdy office hours.
I had a great change of heart this year. It started when I was hired last May. I am working for a travel agency. I liked the idea of working on weekdays and stapled day off on weekdays, not too much of a hassle compared when I have pursued my career of being an HRM graduate. If I worked at the hotel, my schedule would be worse especially on holidays. This was what I was looking for, a desk job.

The Dilemma

I am contented during my first two months. It’s been a continuous learning until my third. I had my formal training then for Galileo reservation system. I will be having my sixth month this November. The thing is, I feel unfulfilled. My colleagues are great. They are in high spirits even there are problems we encounter from time to time. The pay is bearable considering that I’m on entry level. Everything seems to be okay, except me. The bad thing about it is I am anxious of committing mistakes. A single, minor mistake is equivalent to an ADM (agency debit memo). It is informal invoice from a supplier showing an additional amount due. It can be caused by wrong ticketing or under quote. And mind you, it is bill in US dollars. My officemates who had been in the industry for years still commit errors. It can be as small as $5.00 but can be as big as $6900.00. Sky is the limit, if bad luck is on your side. Whether we like it or not, we are required to pay them.

Recently, my officemate has been charged USD 700. She admitted it was an honest mistake. The passengers she should have booked to a certain flight, surprisingly, wasn’t guaranteed a seat an hour before the departure. Payment was made by the passengers but was not enough to cover for the fare difference so, she needs to pay for it. How long would they be able to compensate for it? The thought of having an ADM made me fretful, really. Practically speaking, we are all working to earn, not the other way around. It seems unfair though. But this is the reality that I live up to everyday. The salary is barely worth the stress and responsibilities our job, as ticketing agents, entails. I overheard that our supervisor’s compensation is more or less USD 410 a month. He’s been working for more than 30 years. And yet, what he receives is not tantamount to how much it should have been considering his years of experience. How ironic it is. We can be billed possibly high ADMs for a minute inaccuracy but, we get extremely less than we could have deserved.

The Resolution

I remember my friend saying, “Stop complaining, just do something about it.” I drew optimism from that. There is still a reason to be grateful. At least, I have a job. I do not loathe it. I know everything has its pros and cons. Sometimes, obstacles are opportunities in disguise. I can not discern it yet for now. All I can do is be keen to details and be attentive for every task I am given to do. I still have plans and it would not just banish away just because of my negativity. I have high hopes for what I am into and that would keep me contented for now.

Photo Quotes for Tumblr and Facebook

I am back to posting again at my graphic blog, Glam Concepts. It's up and running again. This time, I am into photo quotes that are mostly used in Facebook and Tumblr. I don't have the right to claim them all as my own. I got inspirations, quotes, and graphics from resources here in the Internet. All I did was modify some stuffs, put designs, then voila, its done.

My niece prodded me to do them since she and her friends and are so fond of photo quotes. It's their way of expressing how they feel. It's been just two days since I started updating it and I have posted quite a few already (and a lot more are to come). It just shows how much I missed Photoshop and its palette. :)

Breakfast at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

I and my bf meet at around 10 am. It was kind of late already but, we both haven’t had our breakfast. We were thinking of where to eat when I remembered my free coupons at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf from my BDJ planner. There was a breakfast meal set coupon that entitles you to get a set for equal or lesser value. Sounds good right? We were looking forward to use it and we had the perfect time.

It was my first time to dine at CBTL. My bf ordered Eggs Ben(enedict) and I settled for Salmon Scramble. Both were priced 229 pesos. It’s quite expensive for a breakfast if bought with their regular prices. Our set comes with a choice of tea or coffee. I went for Strawberry and Cream, my bf picked brewed coffee. The foods were served a little less than seven minutes.

Salmon Scramble
Rosemary Foccacia bread topped with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and our special dressing. I have it paired with Strawberry and Cream tea. It smells yummy and sweet but it does not taste as much. It's a tea anyway and I'm not really a fan of it hehe.

Eggs Ben, which is basically eggs benedict on rosemary focaccia, with a couple slices of bread and butter and jam. My bf love it, as much as I did.

Both breakfast sets are really a must try. It's a best way to start the day. :) Thanks BDJ for the coupon.

Job Hunt Is Haunting Me

Hey readers! I am still alive. I am temporarily staying in Manila with my niece. Internet connection is limited. I only rent at the nearby shop just to go online.

As soon as I woke up yesterday, I felt glum. Exactly three years ago, I had my march along the aisle for my graduation rites. Since then, I am a bummer for three years and still counting. Time passed and so most of the opportunities I could have seek. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Momentarily, I stopped musing over the past. I have a scheduled interview that I needed to look forward to. It made me convince myself to strangle myself early from bed. It was the fifth week of my job hunt. I am almost losing my high spirit towards work. It’s not easy looking for a job especially that I am not a fresh graduate anymore. I had been to eleven interviews. Majority of them haven’t contacted me if I were dumped or qualified for the position I have applied for. It’s stressful knowing that after all the efforts I exerted for every appointment, I’m always told to just wait for a notification if I were to proceed to the next step. Waiting is grueling without even having the assurance that it would be worth it.

I am not quitting yet. My only hope is hope. It is the only thing I have now. And if I quit, clearly, I choose to fail. I am being dragged by the fact that competition for jobs are going to be higher this March, graduation month. If by any means I am so unfortunate, call centers would be my last option. Studying for a second course has never left my mind. My relatives are not amenable about it, but I still plan to take short courses if they can suffice my shift to another industry.

If I have no interviews, my days usually pass without something to do. It is nerve wracking thinking of how bored I am and how the coming days are going to be. I’ll be back in Manila tomorrow. Next week will be my 6th week of the hunt. I am still perfectly sanguine having the thought that I am not the only person going through this dilemma. A lot more are out there unemployed, even more in need of a source of income. They might have families to feed, more necessities to be responded. I am still lucky.

Hello next week! Please be the best to me. Who knows, the approaching week will be what I have waited for, hopefully.

My Hollywood Makeover

I'm already bored of my hair. Really! I've been sporting this long, straight hair for 6 years already. I wanted to have it shorter but, I just can't let go off it. I found this perfect hair Hollywood Hair Virtual Makeover from my friend at her facebook. It's amazing and fun. Just see it for yourself! :)

Here is the original picture:

Da-dan! He's a connoisseur of restaurants haha. Here's what we ordered.

Chashu Ramen - 150 (Regular)
(It is served with roast pork slices or chashu, Japanese fish cakes or kamaboko, hardboiled egg, nori strips and bokchoy or pechay. Pour in a Japanses teapot of shoyu, a light Japaneses soy and pork-based broth with a hint of ginger and seaweed or konbou.

Suki Beef Teppan Don - 160

This was what my bf ordered for himself. The beef is so tender. The rice felt slimy because of the raw egg yolk. It was delicious nevertheless.

Katsudon - 160

Ika Fry - 150

California Roll - 125

I so love their roll! Usually, when we eat, I would haggle with my bf so he would eat more of the food I don't like so much. But, in this case, I was able to eat half of the serving. Good thing, there was no cucumber(as I don't eat it). The rice is incomparable from the other two maki rolls I have tasted in other restaurants. It was superb. :)

For the drinks, we ordered bottomless iced tea. We were glad that their service is good. They were aware when our glasses needed to be refilled already. Thumbs up! The only thing I would complain was the ventilation. It was warm. Or maybe, it was just because we where beside the window and the sun is at its peak that noon time. ;)

North Park Noodle House Trinoma

A day before our planned date, my bf asked me where would I want to eat. He was craving for Chinese cuisine that's why we settled for North Park Noodle House. He thought of SuperBowl but then, we have just eaten there a week before.

Yang Chow Fried Rice

Boneless Honey Lemon Chicken

Chicken Feet
I wasn't able to eat it. I remember we made some when I was in college. Unfortunately, it was a failure hehe. With my bf craving for Japanese food, we went to Sakae sushi at SM North Edsa Annex for sushi overload. They have all-day sushi buffet, 399 pesos for adults and 199 for kids. It comes with free miso soup and a choice of hot or cold bottomless green tea. They have no left-over/no sharing policy for the sushi buffet. Sub charges will also be imposed on food wastage. You may also grab whatever sushi plates you want and just pay for it depending on the number and color of plates you consumed.

Purple plate – Php 39
Yellow plate – Php 59
Green plate – Php 79
Red plate – Php 99

The sushi conveyor belt fascinated as it was my first time to eat there. I feasted on my eyes on the parade of sushi beside me. They all looked tasty. Yum! I let my bf get the sushi he fancies. He’s been twice to Sakae Sushi at MOA.

A single piece sushi is quite a mouthful. It is overstuffed with rice. After eating a few, I felt full already.

I wasn't able to take photos of all the sushis we've picked at the conveyor belt because I was helping myself to the food haha. Here are some of the sushi varieties. I wasn't able to name some of them.

California Mini Maki

Tamago Sushi

Tempura

(this is definitely a must-try)

This is my most unforgettable part of our sushi overload, Japanese Ginger. It is said to help cleanse the palate. It has antiseptic properties, and was originally eaten with sushi to counter the ill effects of bad fish. It is somewhat sweet and minty.

We enjoyed our meal and was able to finish more than 23 plates. Imagine that? we were only two. :)

Job Fair Schedule 2011

Leading Industries Career Fair
by: Magnus Eventus, Inc.
January 19 and 20, 2011 from 10 am to 5pm
Trinoma Mall, Quezon City

Philstar Career Guide 2011 Jobfair Series
by: Philippine Star
January 25- 26, 2011, 10am to 6pm
Megamall Megatrade Hall 1

14th Metro Job Fair
by: AdExhibit, Inc.
January 28- 29, 2011 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Trade Hall, Star Mall, Mandaluyong City

City Job Fair At The South
by JobQuest
January 26-27, 2011
Festival Supermall

14th Metro Job Far 2011
by AdExhibit
January 28-29, 2011
Starmall Trade Hall

Good Job! It was only now that I got well from my laziness-to-blog sickness :) Its still considered New Year isn't? I might as well start it right. These are the memories of what I've been through. I have listed random events that had transpired last year. Most likely, I will be posting some of them for further details. It is still better to be late than never.

September

First month of being single after a 5 year long relationship.

My grandmother died. She was 95 years old then.

My brother, who is working in Dubai, came home for an emergency leave at left after two weeks. He tied the knot.

Got to know a friend better who happened to be my ex's friend/classmate.

Booked for Singapore Trip

October

I was occupied with the election campaign. My aunt ran for Barangay Chairman. It could have been her second term but, she lost.

I voted.

Done reading Narnia and Percy Percy Jackson.

November

I went to Singapore with two of my friends.

My niece, Kelsey, turned 1.

I met my blogger friend Almyr from Cebu accompanied by a few of his friends.

Reunited with high school friends.

My father's death anniversary

December

Went out with my friend, to hand him a keepsake from Singapore

Paid estate tax at BIR for bank requirements again

Changed status (in a relationship again)

Applied as a Ground Steward (no updates yet)

Reunion with some of my friends

Christmas was fine. I miss my family. Having no more parents, my brother abroad, my sister with her husband, it was the first Christmas I did not spend with my family.

What can be achieved by unearthing the past? Maybe for no other reason than to finally put them all behind. No regrets this year, only lessons learned. Goodbye 2010, hello 2011! :))

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

2010 is really so yesterday, how time flies. Sure, 2010 wasn't the greatest year for me. A lot had happened especially those that I did not expect. There were heartbreaks. There were smiles. Memories were created, most of them I will never forget. I smiled, I cried. I have been to the good, the bad, the worst and the better. I have grown. I have become smarter. I have learned from my mistakes. What happens in the past stays behind. Blaming what had happened won't change anything. Complaining of whatever mishap that I have experienced is useless, instead, moving on and doing something about it is the only option. I'm leaving the past already, armed with the lessons I learned, I will make 2011 better.

Singapore Escapade

I was about to say this year was the worst with all the mishaps (Kuya left for Dubai, my never ending quest to fill bank requirements, my 5 long time bf left me etc.) I have experienced. They say when you reached the age of 23, its either you will be blessed with best things or will suffer bad luck. I can’t still prove it right. I have a share of good and bad this year. But the brightest side of this year was that, I went on a 3 day tour with two of my friends at Singapore.

Being my first time to travel, I was so excited. I think that’s an understatement of how truly ecstatic am I for the tour. My two companions already traveled in Hong Kong last July. I was supposed to be with them if it had not been with my ex who was negative about it. Well anyway, at least I had the chance to go out of the country this time. =)

We were at the airport by 2 pm. When my bags were checked for security screening, something in my hand carry bag made the security officer rescan it. I do not know what they have seen in it. It only contains gadgets such as a laptop, PSP, cellphones, digicam and earphones. Nevertheless, I was thankful when they let my bag in. The next thing we did was pay the travel tax, checked in our baggage and paid the terminal fee. I was curious about where the first and the latter payments go.

As a first time traveler, I was surprised that there is a screening by the immigration before entering the boarding gates. There were so inquisitive. Well, it’s a part of their job. They raised eyebrows when they found out that we are not booked in any hotel. The plan is to stay at our friend’s flat for the rest of the days. Budget hotels were already fully booked by then. They were even surprised that two of us are unemployed haha. Count me in. =) Thank God, they were convinced that we are not going overstay at Singapore. We were half relieved but still doubtful on what is in store for us at the SG’s Immigration screening. I was deeply troubled when my friend told me that her aunt was not permitted to enter a particularly country for answering wrongly. Then, she had to be sent back to her country. Too sad right?

By 4, we board the plane. They let me sit next to the window knowing that it was my first time to ride an airplane. I wasn’t scared at all especially during the take off and the landing. I just watch the clouds as they change shapes as we fly away from the Philippines. I have ebooks on my PSP but I settled to listening to music. I did not fall asleep on flight. I really can’t. More so, I felt euphoric having the thought that this was the day I was looking forward for about a month. Singapore is a mile away.

We arrived at Changi Airport around 8:30 pm. All went well until we arrived at the Immigration Terminal. The three of us fell in one line just in case we need to explain, there will be a smooth flow of conversation. We don’t want to be held at the airport. I was the third to be cleared and we fretted no more. =) I bought vodka at the airport. It’s something we could give our friends in return for our stay at their place.

At the arrival, we saw Khaye’s friend beaming at us. There were two of them who fetched us. To sum up, we were 5 to ride a taxi on the way home. But, the security officer won’t let us all 5 to ride just one cab. She insists that only 4 can ride a single taxi. Oh well, we did not argue and settled for two cabs.

I was surprised that the car is right handed which is the opposite of the cars in the Philippines. Of course, it also follow that their highways are also different from ours. There is no traffic, no deafening honks of buses and not even a bunch of passengers along the road. Our cab only stopped two times. The first one was because of the stop light and other was that, we were at our destination. How cool is that? No hassle on the highway. The road was a breeze and it made me I’m going to love Singapore. =)

We arranged our things when we reached their flat. It was on the 7th floor. The elevator only serves 6th and 10th so we had to drag and heavy baggage along the stairs from 6th floor up to the 7th. I did not mind carrying my stuff. It was better rather than having to travel from 6th to 8th haha. After some chit chat with the flatmates, we ate and went out for a walk. It was already late to start our tour so we just lingered around Hougang.

We are about to call it a night when we were informed that Seth, one of the housemates is celebrating her birthday the next day. We were invited to drink having given them the vodka I bought. Its hard to say no after their being welcomed at their home. So, we drunk, told stories and slept by 5:30 am. I was not able to sleep well but, I feel the need to rest because I’ll be needing energy for our tour in the next few hours.

Cupcake Towers for Sale

My niece is turning 1 next month. I, especially my sister, are getting ready for her only child's big event. We taught of cupcakes for aesthetic and give away purposes. For the aesthetic, we thought of arranging them on a cupcake tower to make it more appealing. To save the bother of thinking for souvenirs, we opted to give away the cupcakes for take home. Good thing, we were able to buy cupcake tower and packaging materials at Cupcake Essentials. Planning for a party? Feel free to visit their site and you might find something you need.

You may contact them at +639161820725, look for Summer.

Solution for missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

When I started my computer, I received this error message:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I tried to reformat it the other thinking it might diagnose the problem. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

At the Recovery Console command prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after you type each line:
      md tmp
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\software c:\windows\tmp\software.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\sam c:\windows\tmp\sam.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\security c:\windows\tmp\security.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\default c:\windows\tmp\default.bak

      delete c:\windows\system32\config\system
      delete c:\windows\system32\config\software
      delete c:\windows\system32\config\sam
      delete c:\windows\system32\config\security
      delete c:\windows\system32\config\default

      copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system
      copy c:\windows\repair\software c:\windows\system32\config\software
      copy c:\windows\repair\sam c:\windows\system32\config\sam
      copy c:\windows\repair\security c:\windows\system32\config\security
      copy c:\windows\repair\default c:\windows\system32\config\default

Type exit to quit Recovery Console. The thirst to know all of the minute details that these characters have to show, and hide is a pulsating vein to which many a merchandiser already has his siphon firmly attached.

But there is nothing comparable or indeed more satisfying than a fresh offering served up by the creator herself. The series originally consisted of just four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and the two tonne finale, Breaking Dawn. But now a new side addition has creap onto the hallowed mossy pathways that criss-cross Bella and Edwards center stage.

How to Read Ebooks using PSP?

I went to the bookstore the other day to look for something to read again. Out of boredom, I read the Twilight Series and the last two books of Harry Potter, twice. Its even more redundant if I did it the third time. Stephenie Meyer's "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" caught my attention. I held it and after seeing the price, I put it back at the shelf. Its $9, hardbound and yet, less than 200 pages. There's no way I'll buy it. I find it pricey. As I got home, without nothing to read, I found a solution, I downloaded e-books. I can't just sit infront of my computer all day. Good thing my cellphone has adobe reader and I saved it there. But, to my dismay, the letters were small to read. I blamed it to my phone's small screen and wished I had bigger. (I haven't let my XDA repaired yet). I thought of another idea, its brighter this haha. How about reading ebooks through PSP? Its feasible though.

I looked for a software and stumbled at a blog. I reposted his instructions here and edited some.

He listed 4 different ways:

   1. Save the ebook as html file. Copy the content of the pdf format manually and paste it in MS Word. Click 'Save as', drop down option in the FILE TYPE box, choose html, not the htm file,ok? Name it in a way that it will be easily typed and remembered since you'll have to type it in your psp like, x.Html. Send to the root memory of your PSP (connect first the PSP to your desktop with usb cable then enable usb mode). Your drive name can be f: or g:. Unable usb mode in your PSP after transfer. Go to the 'Internet Browser' of your psp. Click 'no' if asked to connect to the internet. Press triangle and go to 'Tools' (the toolbox icon). Set cache setting to 'Do not use' and ok. Go to address bar and enter 'file:/x.Html'. 'file:/' input shortcut is under 'http://' button while 'html' is entered by pressing the GHI4. Enter. Your file will load now. The problem with this is that when you have long ebook, error will occur due to less virtual memory. And you cannot bookmark them, it starts from the top everytime you open it. It's tiring to browse long pages.

2. You can upload the pdf file in your e-mail address and open it using a PSP with internet connection. There won't be problem with the low memory. But of course, it needs active internet connection. You can't read your e-book while riding a bus.

3. You can use the PSP Ebook Creator. It's free! DOWNLOAD PSP EBOOK CREATOR. Install it in your desktop. Open the pdf file, ctrl+a, copy, paste in notepad, and save it as txt file. Or you can direct the conversion in adobe or foxit under FILE Menu. Plug PSP to desktop and enable usb mode. Run ebook creator. Go to FILE>load ebook and look for the saved txt file of your ebook. Ok. For the output folder, go to FILE>OUTPUT>PSP>PICTURE. With this application, you can instantly preview your ebook in the PSP image found at the center as you personalize the view (portrait or landscape), fonts and font color, background color and headers. I suggest you use dirty white background with black Georgia font in 12 pt. Enter the title of your ebook in the box beside BUILD EBOOK button then hit the build button. It takes time to convert the txt file to jpeg. Also, it eats about 20-30 MB of memory. When done, unable usb mode. Go to PICTURES in your PSP XMB and you'll find a new folder with the ebook title u have entered. Read it in jpeg format. Just press L or R in your PSP to turn pages. Sometimes an ebook takes up 1000+ images and psp only views 1000 of it. So to continue reading the remaining pages, erase the previous images.

4. Use Bookr, a free application that let's you read txt file and pdf formats (no conversion needed). Download BOOKR.

*Note:this installer works only with PSP CFW version (those with M33 like 3.71 M33). If you have the ofw one (no M33) then only the above 3 applies to you. To know your PSP's Firmware Versio, click here.

If you got confused on where is the download option in that page, you have to click the icon/picture below the warning that this file might harm your computer (but it won't). To install, plug your psp to pc and enable usb mode. Remember the drive path of your psp (f: or g:), you will need it in the installation. Run the bookr installer and type your psp drive and your done. Send your ebook files to PSP>GAMES>BOOKR>BOOKS. Disconnect psp from desktop and run bookr in GAMES. Read the help there. It will teach you how to use bookr. Sometimes you have to save your ebook with bigger font. Use comic sans 13pt. Zoom in or out the views to make the pages fit the screen. You can bookmark pages with this application. It takes less memory storage along with your saved ebooks.

Without even trying the first three, I used the 4th one. Glad it worked for me. My ebooks come handy now. I can read wherever I want. =) Happy reading!

How To Find out which Firmware Version your PSP has

I happened to need to know my PSP Firmware version. Blogging has to take a backseat while I work on these stuffs on my (terrible) to-do list. This is still in connection with my father's account.

I have already acquired those items with check and yet more requirements left to fulfill.
