Losing teeth!

Paige finally has a loose tooth! Two of them even! I'm saying finally because most of the kids in her class have lost one or several and hers have been rock solid, up until a few days ago.

PS - how much is the tooth fairy paying out these days? :)

That's the last time I actually blogged. Crazy!! I guess life got busier and my priorities changed. I'm going to give this another go! I really miss it!

First thing's first - what do you use for a reader now? I loved Google Reader but it appears that program no longer exists. What's your favorite? I need something!

Things that have happened since March of last year....Hmm...

1. My father in law had a heart attack in the end of March and we spent a week in Madison with no spare clothes. We slept in the waiting room. Everything turned out fine though! He's doing great now :)

2. I made this epic video of Paige in April...

3. I turned 29 in April of 2013.

4. In May, we went to a Milwaukee Brewers game with our best friends, Patti and Randy! It was so much fun...can't want to do it again!

6. In June, Paige turned 5!! We celebrated by going to the Dells for a trip to the water park. She loved it! For the first time, I didn't really get any pictures. I was too busy having fun!

7. July was filled with lots of boating and family time. Love summers on the river!

8. Almost 2 weeks of August were spent down in Illinois visiting my family! I LOVE every minute of those visits and wish we weren't so far away. I think we will be heading down there at around the same time again.

9. In September, Paige started Kindergarten!!

10. Also in September, our beloved Butters died very suddenly and unexpectedly. He was not quite 2 years old. Fine one minute, and not the next. The only thing that makes me feel better about is that we were there for his last moments and I hope he felt how much we love him.

11. Abe turned 32 in October!

12. In November, Paige became an official Daisy Girl Scout!

13. December brought Christmas and a new kitty! Her name is Ariel :)

14. January marked 10 years since my sister had passed away. I also had strep two different times that month. 2014 started out a little rocky!

15. February was bitter, bitter cold. We were sick constantly. I'd like to forget that month even happened.

16. On March 25th I started using Plexus - possibly the best decision I've ever made!

17. On April 18th, I turned 30!! THIRTY. Crazy!! It's just another year, but it feels so....different. As of April 25th, I'd been using Plexus for exactly one month.

I am proud to say that I am down 19 pounds since the 25th of March and at least 5.5 inches from April 6th. 2 pants sizes! My doctor actually lowered my dosage of levothyroxin because this is working so well! I feel so great!!

If a plant based drink that was originally developed to control blood sugar is of any interest to you, I'd be happy to give you some information.

So, I think that catches me up for all the big moments over the past year. Can't wait to make this a regular thing again!!

This snow is nasty! So heavy. As I type this, both of our vehicles have been plowed in and are also stuck. Tires are just spinning on the sheet of ice underneath. So, we had a snow day today!

First of all, I just want to apologize for not posting for so long. Also, I'm not going to try and keep up with memes and things anymore. I'm just going to post random crap. Sound good? :)

Anyway. Snow. We got a lot of it. Can I just say that I am TIRED of winter? I don't think I've ever had spring fever this badly. Ever. I don't know what is different about this year but I am craving some warmer weather and some SUN. We haven't seen the sun a whole lot this winter!

This is what it looked like at about 2:30 am. Yes, I was still awake at 2:30. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

And this was taken this evening. We got about 10 inches or so. It was a snow day for Abe. Just wasn't safe for him and his co-worker to travel the 15 miles to work so they called in. Luckily, Paige was already off for a few previously scheduled teacher work days.

We finished up a puzzle that we've been working on. I got a few more "bricks" done on the crochet lego blanket I've been working on. There was some shoveling and movie watching.

It was a pretty good day :)

Fall is most definitely my favorite time of year. Spring is a pretty close 2nd. Why do I love fall? Let me count the ways...

1. APPLES. Freaking apples. I love apples. I love all the things you can do with apples. I love going to apple orchards. I love apple cider. I love apple pie. OMG APPLES!! My favorite is the HoneyCrisp. Yummmmm

2. Cheaper electric bill. For like half of September and into October, we have no heat or AC running. I do a dance when I get that bill in the mail.

3. Hoodies. Digging out the hoodies for those crisp mornings is so awesome. It takes me back to when I was in school and waiting for the school bus.

4. Oktoberfest. Particularly Oktoberfest in my town. It was listed in the top 10 Oktoberfest celebrations in the nation. It is made of pure awesome and in fact, my favorite day of the entire year is coming up - Saturday, the day of the parade! I'll talk more about that later when I post pictures next week.

5. Lined Crocs. Yep. I said it.

6. Being able to have the windows open. I know this kind of falls under #2, but I'm going to ignore that. I love the smells of fall and I love being able to open the window for cool breeze.

7. Sentimental Cider bricks from Scentsy. Oh, who am I kidding? I use it all year long. At least it is appropriate during the fall months...

8. The leaves. The gorgeous, gorgeous leaves. If you have never experienced fall in Wisconsin, you are missing something truly awe inspiring and beautiful. I know that leaves change during the fall all around the country, but there's just something different about it here. I can't really explain it. You just have to witness it, at least once in your life.

9. Bonfires. A friend of mine hosts bonfires at her house every few weeks and it's so much fun! You can't do that in the summer because at 10pm it is still 90 degrees outside. Can't do it in the winter. So...fall it is!

10. And finally...No more mowing the lawn! I think this one is pretty self explanatory :)

Nearly A Year....

Today marks exactly 11 months since I lost my job last year. That means I've been unemployed for nearly a year. I've faithfully applied to at a minimum of 2 jobs a week since I was put on unemployment. I was audited by the state within 4 weeks of being on it, so I have made sure to follow the rules so that I stay eligible. 2 jobs a week for 48 weeks. That's a minimum of 98 jobs I have applied for. I've had two interviews. One of them was going to pay a whopping $8.25 an hour. What a joke! I'd be working just to pay for daycare and gas so that I could go there for however many hours a day. The 2nd was for a bank teller position. I had the interview and then got a generic email a few weeks later saying they had selected a different candidate. I've all but lost hope. I am of the firm opinion that I either need to know someone or work for a measly minimum wage job which would end up doing more harm to our bank account than it would if I just stayed home. I'm so tired of it.

So, I am thisclose to deciding that I need to go a different route. I think I'm going to go the direct sales route. I have a lot of supportive friends and family around and they are really necessary when starting up a venture such as this. So, I'm asking for some insight. Do you do direct sales? If you don't know what direct sales is, it's things like Mary Kay, Scentsy, 31 Products, Avon, etc. I'm leaning towards 31. I love their products, and own some of them myself.

I'd love some input! Please, share your story. I'd love to hear any tips of the trade you might have too!

Meet Alex. He is the son of of one of my best friends. Alex and Paige are exactly one month apart. Before, it was just hugs and kisses because they were friends. Well, now they are BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND. They even have their life story planned out. At 4 years old. Anyway, here are some recent pictures of the two of them :)
