I'm pretty much in love with Fig! It's a bright bubblegum pink and it's great for someone who's just starting to experiment with brighter lipstick colours. And eep this might be the first time I've shown my face to the internet world!

Notd: Lunar New Year nails

Hi everyone, hope you all are well and have eaten tons this Lunar New Year! Today I'm going to show you what I painted my nails for this festive occasion..

Ciate's Cream Tea is your typical taupe-greige colour with a silver/golden shimmer (I can't make up my mind!). This was my first Ciate polish and I'm impressed with its formulation. 2 coats were only required and I would say that the brush is comparable to an Opi polish and is surprisingly wide for a bottle shaped like that. Because it's such a neutral colour, this is definitely a work-friendly polish.

I then used a dotting tool to create polka dots on my nails. It was my first time using a dotting tool, and I think it turned out quite well.

Weekender 007: Iphone Games

Hi everyone, it's the eve of Lunar New Year! So a happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrates it and hope the year of the dragon will be a good one. A quick little sidetrack here, but the year of the dragon only occurs once every 12 years (and I'm a dragon!), so that means I'll be turning 24 this year. Eep.

For me, Lunar New Year means that there's amazing food and goodies to be eaten and relatives to visit. And with visiting relatives bring about children! One thing I've noticed is that children are now more exposed to technology and it is common to see a little kid playing games on his parent's iPad or iPhone. I personally love looking at the iPhone App Store for interesting games over the weekends (or whenever I have some spare time).

Call me slow, but I've just gotten into the wonderful world of Plants v Zombies!

That's just something about zombies wanting to attack you and having plants protect you that just captivates me.

Another game that I've been loving is Tiny Tower.

I've been playing this for awhile and I was seriously addicted to this when I first started playing. I would obsessively check and restock my floors everytime I had a notification. I must say that I've calmed down noticeably because it's tedious to stock so many floors!

So, let me know what are your favourite iPhone game? What iPhone game would you recommend? I need some new games to play! :)

Notd: China Glaze Pelican Grey

Hi everyone, today's NOTD is possibly one of my favourite nail polishes of all time. I listed this in my Top Beauty Products in 2011 and realised that I didn't have a NOTD of it.

So here it is... China Glaze's Pelican Grey. It's probably going to remain as one of my favourite nail polishes ever. It's a dove grey colour with a very slight hint of shimmer.

This is one of my go-to polishes when I'm in a rut because I feel happy just by looking at it. It matches pretty much almost anything and is neutral enough to make it a work-friendly polish. Plus for some reason, it has a hint of blue (ala Sea Spray) under certain lighting :)

Haul + Swatches: From the FeelUnique Sale

Hi everyone, hope you all are well! When FeelUnique was having their Winter Sale a couple of weeks back, I decided to make a sneaky little purchase using some Christmas money that I received.

I've been reading (and watching) Anna rave about her products (and seriously, I trust that girl's taste!) so it's no surprise that I ended up getting mostly Jemma Kidd products :) I think 2012 might be the year of face products for me - 'cause that's what I mainly bought - 2 blushes and 1 highlighter.

I was looking through the colour swatches of Jemma Kidd's cream blushes online and thought that although there's only a neutral, a pink and a peach, these shades are the more common ones so it makes sense to have only 3 shades. I picked up 2 shades and passed on the bright pink shade (Guava) because I'm not a risk-taker when it comes to blushes.

Initially I thought it was more of a neutral colour, but when I saw it in person, it's definitely more of a rosy-pink colour and oh well, a girl will never have too many pink blushes.

This is more of a peachy colour and looked gorgeous when Anna showed it in one of her videos. And it's as gorgeous in real life too.

I also picked up the ever so popular Radiance Creme in Iced Gold (the yellow tone highlighter) and ahhh it's love!

I swatched them on my arm so that you can see how they look like. Ah I can't wait to try these out...

And me being me, how could I not pick up a nail polish? Even I bought this in 2011 (before I put myself on a strict 10 nail polishes in 2012).. I might count this as one of the 10 polishes.

This is my first Nubar polish and it's in the colour Gem. It's a taupeish purple shade with holographic glitter and it's oh so gorgeous. I was sold on this and Ciate's Cream Tea when I saw Fleur's post on her blog. That's a combination I'm definitely going to try out. :)

Style: Aztec Print

Hi everyone, wow I haven't done a style post in the longest time, but I was so excited when I bought this clothing item.......... a pair of aztec print pyjama pants. I don't know about you, but I have been obsessed with clothes with an aztec/fair-isle print.

Ahhh isn't it gorgeous? The stock image of it gives a better idea of how the pants look like, but omg, I'm totally in love with it. I got mine from Cotton On Body.

I've also been eying this pair from Urban Outfitters for the longest time. But I don't really know what I'll pair it with, so this will probably stay on my wishlist.

On a side note, is there a huge difference between the aztec and fair-isle? Or can the terms be used interchangeably? Oh well, let me know! :)

Weekender 006: Reading is Love

Hi everyone, hope the first week of 2012 has been good to you. Still pinching myself to make sure that Christmas is over and done with.. and heck, we're one week into 2012 already!

Something I like to do over the weekends when I have more time is to read a book.. I love books but I have to admit that books do take up unnecessary luggage space and weight.

So last year, I was a bit naughty and decided to treat myself to a Christmas gift.. which came in the form of a Kindle Touch. Mind you, I've always been an anti-ebook person because I couldn't imagine myself reading off some E-Reader and not holding an actual physical book. "It wouldn't be called reading if you can't turn the pages!" is what I constantly say. But I have the bad habit of reading a couple of books at one go, so my bag was beginning to weigh a ton. And that was when I started getting curious about the Kindle.

Soooo, more rambly bits about my getting-a-Kindle-story. A couple of months back when I was in London, I went into John Lewis and stumbled across the Kindle stand.. it was like a sign because another of my apprehension to getting a Kindle because I wanted to fiddle around with it to see if I'd like it. I ended up purchasing it when I got back home because I wanted something touchscreen and the UK store hadn't launched the Kindle Touch then. It's been almost a month since I've received it, and had time to play with it and the verdict? I'm in love! It definitely makes reading SO much easier and convenient because it is super light and I love having "carrying" so many of my favourite books with me altogether. I think I'll probably read a lot more books now :)

Do any of you own a Kindle or a ebook reader? Or are you against ebooks (like I was)? Let me know! :)

Notd: Chanel Black Pearl

Hi everyone, today's NOTD is actually the polish that I decided to usher in 2012 with - Chanel's Black Pearl. When I saw promotional photos of this polish, I was a bit on the fence on whether to get it or not because on one hand it looked gorgeous and I have no polish like that, but on the other hand, is the colour unique enough to justify my biggest nail polish splurge ever? Simply put - yes.

Please bear with me for a tiny bit longer while I ramble on about this polish.. (I'm strangely in a rambly mood today) So after making up my mind that I wanted Black Pearl, I couldn't find it at any of the local Chanel counters. Naturally, I started to panic but luckily managed to locate a last bottle of Black Pearl.

And tadah, may I present to you - Black Pearl:

A charcoal-ish black shade with hints of teal green in it.. it really is one of the most gorgeous colour I've ever seen. And and and it's NOT limited edition. Hooray!

But now the question, are there any close dupes of Black Pearl out there? What are your thoughts on this polish?

Resolutions: 2012

Hello everyone, we're finally in 2012!! A new year definitely brings about a new round of resolutions and whatnots. And for me, if I write down my resolutions out in the blogosphere, maybe it'll help me keep to them.

1. Project Polish-Out - I was having a sort through of my nail polishes on New Year Eve and discovered that I have WAY too many nail polishes. So for 2012, I'm going to allow myself to buy only 10 new polishes. It's going to be a struggle for me since I love buying nail polishes, but I'm determined! I'm also going to try and use my nail polishes at least once.

2. Makeup ban - It's pretty much the same as Project Polish-Out. Don't buy unnecessary makeup, try to use up what I have in my collection.

3. Blog more - I really hope to continue this consistent posting because I quite like it :) I've even switched over to Disqus for my comments because I feel that it's easier to reply to comments. So, please comment away. But all things serious, I really hope that I'll find the inspiration and creativity for blog posts because I love having an outlet to air my thoughts beauty-wise.

4. Continue exercising - One of my main goals for 2011 was to exercise at least once a week and I'm proud to say that (apart from a few lazy weeks), I've pretty much stuck to my resolution and I plan on maintaining this once a week exercise in 2012.

5. Get a job - I've had the privilege of working with the best bunch of people in 2011, but because I was on a contract basis, I had to leave when the time was up. So now, I'm trolling through the job adverts trying to look for a permanent job.

So, happy 2012 everyone. Let me know what your resolutions are! :)

Top Beauty Products 2011

It's time to round up my top products of 2011 and let me just say that I can't believe 2011 is coming to an end already. Seriously, where has the time gone?

If I were to recap 2011, it was a year of trying out new products, liking them so much that I end up being boring and sticking to them.

Without further ado, here's my (coincidentally) top 10 beauty products of 2011!

Foundation:
(1) Bobbi Brown Oil Free Even Finish Foundation - Review to come

Under-Eye Concealer:
(2) Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer - Review

Powder:
(3) Laura Mercier Mineral Finishing Powder - Setting powder to keep my oilies at bay.

Brush:
(4) Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush - I use this to apply any powder products on my face and it's one of the softest brushes I've ever used. Plus, it's super fluffy too.

Concealer:
(5) Bobbi Brown Concealer Stick - one of the best blemish concealer I've ever used.

Blush:
(6) NARS Powder Blush in Douceur - My first NARS blush and it's a blush that I can just whack on when I want something neutral.
(7) Hard Candy Fox In A Box in Smooth Talker - supposedly a dupe for Benefit's Sugarbomb blush When applied on my cheeks, it comes out as a really natural peachy colour.

Lipbalm:
(8) EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit - I totally get the hype of this. It's cute to look at, to pull out from your handbag and the best part is that it works!

Perfume:
(9) The Body Shop's Love Etc
(10) Britney Spears' Fantasy

I love my perfumes sweet and these 2 fit the bill perfectly. Both of them are perfumes that I've had in my collection for the longest time, but one of my goals for 2011 is not to buy any perfumes so it's been nice rediscovering old perfumes.

And it wouldn't be a post without some nail polish..
So I've managed to narrow down my top 2 nail polishes of 2011 based on the fact that these are the polishes that I reach for when I'm in a rut and don't know what to put on my nails.

And they are China Glaze's Pelican Gray and Sea Spray (both from the Anchors Away collection that was released in early 2011). I can't believe I haven't done a NOTD post for Pelican Gray so that will definitely be one of the next few posts going up. Pelican Gray is a light grey, whereas Sea Spray is a pale blue and both polishes have a subtle shimmer running through them.

Weekender 005: Holiday Nails

Hello everyone, Merry Christmas! I typically get excited for Christmas around the beginning of December and I cannot believe Christmas is finally here! My family's tradition is that we usually celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, but only open presents on Christmas Day but I know of friends who celebrate and open their presents on Christmas Day.

If you know me IRL, you'd know that I don't usually sport red polish because I'm not a huge fan of red nails... but for some reason, I was in the mood for a little red on my nails.

I managed to dig out Dear Santa and Meet & Jingle from the 2009 Opi Holiday Wishes collection and layered them together to create this glittery red look and I like it! Both of the polishes are a medium red, but Meet & Jingle has shimmer in it whereas Dear Santa is packed with golden glitter.

Am definitely digging this combi, and who knows? Maybe this will ignite my love for a classic red. Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you all had a great celebration!

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer

Hi everyone, if you follow me on Twitter, you'd have probably seen tweets from me complaining about how I smartly managed to slip and hit my eye on something in the bathroom, and I had bruises around my left eye, as well as a slightly swollen eye!

I couldn't manage to bring myself to get out of the house looking like someone out of a horror film, so I had to conceal it. And what a complete lifesaver the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit has been for me.

This is the concealer which includes a yellow setting powder. She also has a correcter that cleverly neutralises any under-eye darkness (which I've heard is amazing as well).

I bought this in April this year and have been using it since but I've never realised how truly amazing this little product is, and how much it actually conceals. This little product really is a heavy duty concealer.. one gripe I had with it is that it does slide off about 8 hours and a little goes a long way with this. This is definitely a repurchase for me when I run out of it!

Weekender 004: Candles Love

Hi everyone, today I'm going to talk about a huge love of mine - candles

2011 was the year that I became obsessed with candles... there's nothing like chilling at home with a lit candle that fills up your house/room with the scent of your choice.

I don't know if you can tell, but I love sweet smelling candles. I bought my first Slatkin & Co candle from Bath & Body Works last year, and have fallen in love with it ever since. Granted, it is difficult to purchase them from Singapore since B&BW only allows US-based credit cards - I used vConcierge for previous purchases but I'm planning on trying out Comgateway the next time I need to stock up on candles.

And that Yankee candle you see on the extreme right? Well, that is the latest candle in my collection.. haven't burnt it as of yet (might do so on Christmas itself!) and I'm so happy that I managed to find it locally. I did go a little crazy and purchase the Quick Scent as well as the Car Vent sticks in the Christmas Cookie scent... looks like I'm pretty much all set in the Christmas Cookie scent department till next year :) Oh and a quick tip, remember to trim your candle wick to about 1/4 inch (about 0.7cm) to prevent your candles from sooting and emitting those nasty black smoke.

Notd: Revlon Top Speed Emerald

Hi everyone, today's Notd is from Revlon's Top Speed line which they've just launched here.....

Emerald (#330) has been touted as a good dupe with better formulation for Opi's Jade Is The New Black which is on my list of polishes to get, but somehow never got around to buying..

(Please excuse the tip wear!)

And wow, I was definitely impressed by the formulation... this polish, albeit a little thick, is opaque in one coat. I'm glad I purchased this over the Opi polish because I'm all for spending less! :)

Weekender 003: Body Scrub

For me, the weekends are usually the time to indulge in things that you don't usually have the time for during the weekday because you either are busy with school or for work. This includes treating yourself to a good scrub!

I like to pamper my body over the weekend when I have the time, and what better way than to treat myself with a body scrub to get rid of all the dead and dry skin? To be honest, I've only tried ones from The Body Shop, and although they made my skin feel soft after rinsing, I just wasn't wow-ed by it.

But I've been trying out Soap & Glory's Scrub Actually body scrub for awhile now, and I love it! The scrub is packed with all sorts of goodness like brown sugar, white sugar and natural apricot kernel oil and smells amazing - as with all other Soap & Glory products.

I don't know if it's just me and my hot water, but 10-15 seconds after spreading the scrub onto my skin, the scrub actually warms up.. It sounds really strange, but I like it. Another thing that I like about Scrub Actually is that my skin feels really smooth and strangely moisturised after rinsing off. As I type this, it's been about 3 hours since using it and my skin still feels soft which is surprising considering that Scrub Actually is a body scrub!

I'm always looking for good body scrubs, so definitely leave me your recommendations or what you use as your body scrub :)

Notd: butter LONDON All Hail The Queen

Hello everyone, butter LONDON's All Hail The Queen is a polish that I've always wanted to get, but was a little put off by the price.. because I believe I paid S$24.90 for this.

But trust me, this polish is definitely worth its price tag.

All Hail The Queen is a darkened nude shade with holographic microshimmer in the polish. In the bottle, I felt that this was just going to be another darkened nude nail polish, but it is amazing and just comes alive on the nails. Application for this was flawless and was an easy 2 coater.

Weekender 002: Nail Care

Hi everyone, for this week's Weekender post, I thought I'd do a little post on the routine I go through every time I change up my nail polish.

(L-R: Poshe Treatment Base Coat, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat)

To prevent nail polish from staining your nails, always use a base coat. My pick is Poshe's Nail Strengthening Treatment Base Coat (for soft, peeling, and thin nails which I sadly am a victim of). I've been using this base coat for almost 2 years and my nails have definitely improved. Highly recommend this for anyone suffering with peeling nails. Sometimes, if I'm in a nail polish rut, I'll just apply the base coat as a clear polish so that my nails looks shiny and polished.

After applying the base coat, I then apply 2-3 coats of my nail polish of choice -currently I'm loving neutrals/dark polishes....... oh and I'm still on the hunt for a nice dark red polish (My all time fave is Opi's Glove You So Much which was from their 2009 Holiday Wishes collection but I have the mini version of it so I can't wear it too often else it'll run out!)

The top coat that I've been loving ever since I was introduced to nail polish is Seche Vite's Fast Dry Top Coat. Yes, it stinks and gets gloopy but a few drops of thinner and you're all set. This top coat means business - apply this over nail polish and your nails will look super glossy and shiny in no time. Bizarrely, I find that Seche Vite also manages to cover any mini accidents you might have had when applying your nail polish.

Yup, so that's all I do nails-wise. This post is already rather long, so I'll do a separate one on the nail polish remover and treats I use on my hands to keep my hands from drying out.

Notd: Models Own Purple Grey

Hi everyone, hope you're liking that I've been posting somewhat regularly recently. It's been fun getting back into the swing of blogging, and I hope that this means more posts from me.

The past few posts have been on something other than nail polishes (which is probably my greatest love)... so today I'm going back to basics and doing a NOTD post.

Models Own Purple Grey nail polish is pretty much self-explanatory by its name - it's the perfect mix of purple and grey in a polish. I love this colour because I've always wanted a smokey purple nail polish, and this is pretty much it. This was my first Models Own polish and I had no problems application wise. It was opaque in 1 coat, but I'm a 2 coater at heart, so I had to apply 2 coats. I can't wait to test the other Models Own polish that I own.

Weekender 001: Lush Oatifix

Hi everyone, I was inspired by Vivianna (who is awesome so go and check her out) to do a weekend series post talking about my weekend rituals or weekend pampering sessions. So here's my first installment of it (and hopefully I'll be able to keep this up!)

Anyway, as the title of this post suggests, my first Weekender post will be on Lush's Oatifix fresh face mask.

Targeted for people with dry and sensitive skin, I was a little hesitant to purchase this because I have an oily complexion. The only reason why I bought this was because my face was on the dry side when the girl at Lush caught me by surprise and asked me how my face was feeling the day I was at the Lush shop. Oh, that and I wanted to buy the Cupcake fresh face mask, but was recommended this because I was due to fly back the next day, and this lasts better without refrigeration. (The flight home takes a good 12 hours, and I wouldn't want my face mask to melt)

Oatifix consists of oats and bananas and almonds (if my nose is right) and trust me, and smells amazing & yummy. However it's quite a thick mask, needs to be refrigerated and can be quite messy when applying it onto your face because of its texture. But fret not, all the effort put into applying the mask onto your face will be well worth.

Lush advises to let the mask sit on your face for 5-10 minutes before washing it off with warm water. The first time I tried this mask, I was surprised at how soft and moisturised my face felt instantly. And the smell of the mask lingered on my face for quite a good bit of time. Tried the mask the second time, and my face still felt soft and moisturised after washing the mask away.

Be sure to use this mask before its expiry date though :) I know I'll be slathering this on as a weekend treat. Oh and the best part? When this runs out, I'll be running to the to-be-opened Lush shop at Wisma Atria on the 2nd of December... Yes, Lush is back in Singapore!

Soap & Glory - The Daily Smooth

Hi everyone, I haven't done a product review in ages, but as soon as I tried this, I knew I had to write something about it.

The product in question is Soap & Glory's The Daily Smooth body butter. Formulated for dry skin, this was right up my alley after my elbows (and body) turned dry after getting back from a trip to London about a week back.

I'm not a huge fan of thick body butters/lotions because I don't like my body to feel sticky to the touch, so initially, I was skeptical of The Daily Smooth.. but now? I am a convert. This is no ordinary body butter - it has a thick consistency that when rubbed into the skin, disappears and makes it feel so moisturised and soft. Plus, it smells amazing!

My elbows and my body have never felt so smooth before and I have The Daily Smooth to thank. Plus, how cute is the packaging? I'm a sucker for pretty packaging.

I picked this up at Boots in London, but I wouldn't be worrying when I'm all out of it because Sephora Singapore sells this as well :)

I truly apologise for doing a sudden disappearance from blogging but I guess I lost the blogging mojo to photograph my nails, especially finding it difficult to find proper lighting to take photos. I still haven't lost my love for nail polish though! I just got back from London, and accumulated a couple of polishes and am really excited to blog about them.

Notd: Etude House polish

Hello everyone, I just discovered Gimp as a photo editing software for my Macbook, so this is hopefully a step towards more frequent blog posts!

Today's notd is probably the first feature for an Asian brand - Etude House and the color I'm wearing is BR302. Asian brands don't really have cute names to distinguish their nail polishes, but rather the colour family that they belong to. I'm assuming that BR = brown.

Can I just say that I love this colour? I'd describe this colour as a mix between a peach and beige colour and I love it! As I mentioned on twitter, this was the colour that I was hoping Essie's Van D'Go would be. I'm so happy that I found this colour and will definitely be wearing this more often! :)

On a side note, I decided to step out of my comfort zone of wearing neutral colours on my toes.. And I'm proud to say that I'm currently sporting China Glaze's Sea Spray on my toes.

Notd: Zoya Loredana

Hello everyone. I'm on the last day of my long weekend :( and I wanted to post something!

This is probably the first matte nail polish I've featured on this blog.. I remember talking to a friend and saying that one trend I'll never hop on will be the matte nail polish trend because I love my nail polish glossy blahblahblah... well. I'll have to eat my words now because I find matte nail polishes the easiest to apply when I'm in a rush and I want to have polish on my nails!

Zoya's Loredana is a dark grey matte polish. Well, there's not much I can say except that it dried in pretty much no time for me.

This definitely opens the door of matte polishes for me :) I definitely want to try out more matte polishes now.. I've just made a purchase for a matte top coat, so hurray!

Opi Pirates of the Caribbean collection

Hi everyone, long time no blog... Eurgh, it's been so inconvenient for me to post because I don't have any photo editing software in my Mac.. so please bear with me while I'm sorting this out. :)

I've recently gotten my hands on the Opi Pirates of the Caribbean collection! I wasn't excited about it when I heard of this collection because I'm not a POTC fan, and I somehow equate colours like red and blue with pirates. Boy was I wrong.. The colours turned out to be pastel, creme shades and they are gorgeous!

I picked up 4 polishes initially.. but eventually cracked and bought another one. I bought Silver Shatter, Mermaid's Tears, Skullbones and Glossbones, On Stranger Tides and Steady As She Rose.

In this post, I have 2 swatches for you.

Let's take a look at Mermaid Tears. I was quite sceptical about this because it looked really bright in the bottle and not a flattering colour on me. But I was surprised!

I ended up wearing this for a week straight because it is gorgeous. I'd describe it as a teal-jade colour.

Next up would be Skull and Glossbones. Isn't the name the cutest? But besides the name, it's an amazing colour too. I love neutral colours like this when I'm in a nail polish rut and don't know what to put on my nails.

It's a gorgeous grey-beige creme.. and I even wore this on my convocation day. I forsee myself wearing this polish very frequently because it's gorgeous and matches all outfits!

Notd: Essie Sew Psyched

Happy April everyone! Gosh, has it already been 4 months since the new year? At this rate, December will come round in the blink of the eye and it's time to say goodbye to 2011, and usher in 2012.... eurgh, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Today's NOTD is a colour that I've been meaning to get for the longest time.. I think I've had my eye on it ever since I saw Lorraine Stanick sporting this colour.

This colour is from the 2010 Essie Fall collection and is an army green colour that has a nice silver sheen in it. It's one polish that (to me) is office-friendly :)
