Take Me Down Like I'm A Domino

I was sent this blush brush and sponge a few months ago and after trying them for a while and also being a bit of a lazy student, i've finally got round to reviewing them. They're both from the Cosmopolitan Beauty Expert Range which is available in Superdrug and online.

Blend Perfection Sponge

I was quite optimistic about using a sponge to apply my foundation as I normally use my Sigma F80 Brush which gives a really good finish. To use the sponge you simply wet it so that it's damp and then dip it into foundation on the back of your hand. To test the sponge I did half of my face using my Sigma Brush and then half with the sponge. To be honest I couldn't really tell much difference - they both gave an airbrushed finish and the only difference was around my nose where my Sigma F80 gave a better coverage as the sponge wasn't easy to get into smaller places. I also found that the sponge used a lot more foundation than if I used a brush as it soaked a lot in so if you're using quite a pricey foundation it might not be worth it. Overall I really liked the effect the sponge gave and I probably will use it again. The sponge retails at £4.95 which I think is quite reasonable for what you're getting especially as I know there are quite a few more expensive options out there which are really similar.

Perfect Finish Blush Brush

I have so many different brushes from lots of different brands so when I received this brush I didn't really know what to expect. I normally use a slightly bigger brush to apply my blusher and for some reason i've never felt the need to purchase an angled brush. I think i'm a bit of a convert as I find it so much easier to put my blusher on using this brush as it's a bit more precise. The quality of the brush is ok; it's not as soft as some of my other brushes but I do like the white handle and the fact it fits into my makeup bag better than my other blush brush ;) Although I really like the brush I don't think it's worth the £4.50 RRP as i'd be more tempted to purchase ELF's alternative which is slightly cheaper and will probably be a bit softer.

I can't remember a time when i've been out without painted nails recently but I always seem to get complimented on my colour choices so I thought i'd share a few of my recent favourites.

Models Own Beth's Blue & Peach Puff / Nails Inc Basil Street & Piccadilly Circus

My favourite nail polish brand has to be Model's Own simply because I love the consistency and drying time of their polishes as well as their colour range! I'm really hoping they'll do another 50% off sale so I can expand my collection.

I've also been loving two Nails Inc polishes which came free with Glamour Magazine; I find their polishes a bit hit and miss but these ones aren't too bad and the colours are nice to wear too.

Nothing's Real But Love

.1. I've just got back to my flat at uni after 3 weeks at home. Part of me is really glad to be back and the other part isn't as i've had a really nice break with all my favourite people. I'm really hoping the next term will fly by as i'm in no way motivated to do any work for it at all! I've brought so much back to my flat and i'm having a nightmare trying to unpack it all especially as no one seems to know if we have uni tomorrow so I don't know if I need to do my work!!

.2. I went out for a meal to Prezzo last night with my family for my brother's birthday. We shared some pizzas and then I had Strawberry Eton Mess Cheesecake which was really nice. I definitely made the most of the meal as it's the last decent meal i've had now i'm back at uni!

.3. I'm slightly worried about how fast time is going; when I was younger everything seemed to take forever but the fact that i've finished a term at uni and that its 2012 seems really surreal. I need to start making the most of every minute before I start to regret it although i'm still smiling thinking about my night out last week for new year!

If i'm honest there weren't been many stand out products for me in 2011. I kind of feel like i've just carried on using the same things that i've always loved and there hasn't been anything i've been repurchasing a lot unless you count Batiste.

I have managed to find a few of my most recent favourites to share as I haven't really done a proper beauty post in a while!

Model's Own Peach Puff - I got this in the 50% off sale and i've lost count of how many times i've worn it. I love Models Own polishes as they dry really quickly and they have a really nice colour range!

212 VIP Carolina Herrera - I got this for my birthday in September but i've kept it at home instead of taking it to uni so I don't wear it often as its definitely one of my favourites. It has quite a strong scent and i'm in love with the packaging too.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle - This is one of the only hair products i've ever tried that actually makes a difference. I have really thick hair but the ends aren't in the best condition but this makes them look really healthy and makes my hair super soft and shiny.

Nivea Express Hydration Hand Lotion - I've had this a while and its the only hand cream that doesn't take forever to sink in. It has a really nice scent and keeps your hands soft for quite a while making it perfect for winter.

Benefit Smokin' Eyes Kit - I got this for my birthday from my friends and i've been using it lots, especially the brow wax. It's the perfect size to fit in my makeup bag and makes my eyes look nice for nights out too.

ELF Eyelash Curlers - I'm not saying these are the best eyelash curlers in the world as they're the only ones i've tried but for £1.50 i'd really recommend them. I never used to curl my eyelashes but you really notice a difference when you use these so it's become a part of my routine.

Strive To Be Happy And Live To Believe

I suppose you could say 2011 is the year that I changed. I'm a completely different person to the one that was sitting here a year ago writing this post. Being at university for the past 4 months has given me so many opportunities and I feel a lot more confident and happier in myself thanks to the fresh start.

Last night I went back to my uni flat because living in the middle of nowhere is a nightmare when you need to get back! I celebrated New Year with one of my friends and as my flat is within walking distance of town there weren't any ridiculous taxi fares to pay :) Despite seeing a girl get hit by a car on our way out, we still managed to have a really good night and I can't wait to do it all again next year!

I don't have any new years resolutions for 2012 other than to continue being myself and to make the most of every minute of university. I haven't been the best blogger in the world over the past few months but i'm not going to sit here and promise that i'll get better as I find it so hard to find the time! If you've read my blog in 2011 or left me a comment then thank you so much for your support :)

Oh and i'm terrified of turning 20 this year... I don't like the idea of being twenty at all, I definitely don't feel like I should be anything other than a teenager! I'm sure by September i'll have got used to the idea... or at least I hope I will have!

I genuinely can't believe it's Christmas in 4 days! These are some of the things i'd love to be getting although its not going to happen since I haven't shared this wishlist with anyone haha.

I'll definitely be getting myself a new purse as my 7 year old TOPSHOP one is getting a little bit old and doesn't fit my cards in it! I'm loving the colour and design of the River Island one, if I don't find a nice one in the sales I might have to have a little splurge ;)

I'm just about to go Christmas shopping, yes i've left it ridiculously late and i'm probably going to get crushed by the millions of the people who have made the same mistake as me. I've got a list which I need to stick to as I have a bit of a habit of picking up things for myself, yes, even 4 days before Christmas!

I couldn't finish this post without saying Happy 5th Birthday to my little beaut Muffin! I've missed her so much while i've been at uni and after a haircut and lots of cuddles we're both smiling again :) I've never had a Guinea Pig that has lived longer than 4 so i'm making the most of every minute with Muffin, although she hasn't really showed any signs of slowing down in her old age haha.

.1. I really shouldn't be writing this as I have a 2,500 word Marketing Plan to write that i've just found is in for Tuesday and not Friday like I first thought! I'm finding it hard to find the motivation to do it and I have no idea what to do when it comes to references! I got a bit stressed out this week about all the work i've got to do which isn't something i've had trouble with before but I went home on Friday for the day and also had a night out last night which have made me a bit happier.

.2. In a week's time i'll be home for Christmas and I honestly can't wait! Muffin is in need of a haircut and lots of cuddles which i'm very much looking forward to sorting out haha. She's 5 this month and lives a quiet little life although she still eats absolutely everything! I didn't think it was possible to miss a pet as much as I do here but it makes going home that little bit better :)

.3. I've ~~lost~~ misplaced my camera and I genuinely have no idea where it is! I actually want to blog but until I find it its not going to happen :( I'm hoping it will turn up when I sort out the things i'm taking home for Christmas as it's got to be in this room somewhere! I've got quite a few new clothes that I want to share and maybe a few OOTDs as lighting at home is a lot better too.

.1. I can't believe it's December... genuinely don't know where this year has gone and in particular my time at uni! I've had a little break from blogging... i've not had too much time on my hands and i've had a lot going on in the past few weeks so I thought i'd let blogging take a back seat for the first time in a while! I want to make an effort this month and actually publish a few posts, I like blogging and it's about time I started enjoying it again! In two weeks i'll be at home getting ready for Christmas with my family which I can't wait for. To be honest it's the fact I won't have to do my own washing or worry about what i'm going to eat that i'm looking forward to the most, as well as being surrounded by people that make me happy. I have a tiny family so Christmas is quite quiet but I think I prefer it that way :) I'm also looking forward to spending lots of time with my friends who I haven't seen in forever thanks to uni! Recent events have meant we've seen each other quite a few times but they weren't for the happiest of reasons.

.2. I've just got back from a crazy little weekend in Leeds for a reunion with a few friends. We went to the German Christmas Market yesterday which got me feeling festive and then had a night out which I can't really remember! I definitely need to get myself back to Leeds for a little shopping spree - the shops here just aren't good enough! I also finally got myself a Starbucks Gingerbread Latte which was perfection, especially as it's been so cold recently - i'm hoping it won't snow too much as i've got a few nights out planned soon!

.3. Since getting to uni i've started to like fashion a lot more and i've just treated myself to a few things from Ark. I went in their shop in Leeds and wanted to buy everything! I got my mark back for my first uni test and did a lot better than I expected I thought it seemed like a good enough excuse!

.1. I don't think I ever thought one week could have so many ups and downs but it really has! I had some bad news in the middle of the week and i've had to be quite strong for some of my closest friends. I'm not great at things like that so i'm quite proud of myself for the way that i've coped and I know i'll be supporting them in the next few weeks when they need me the most.

.2. I'm at home for the next couple of days as I have a reading week although I have to go into uni on Wednesday for a test so I can't stay for as long as I wanted! I've spent the weekend with my bests and i've also spent a lot of time shopping which i've loved as well as buying my very first large McDonald's meal just for the free Coke glass ;) I was too full to get a Starbucks Gingerbread Latte but my plans for tomorrow involve buying one so it's all good!

.3. I went out on Tuesday and Wednesday and had two really good nights out! Tuesday was just a really good night although there isn't a particular reason why! On Wednesday I went out with my coursemates and I can honestly say I didn't expect it to be so crazy! We all ended up very drunk and there are far too many things we can't remember! It's definitely one night out I won't be forgetting for a while ;)

This is just a quick post to show off my nails; i've been experimenting with my Model's Own Nail Art Pen quite a bit recently and after loving the leopard print trend I thought i'd try out my own take on it.

The nail polish I used is by Missguided, it was free in Cosmopolitan magazine a while ago and it's definitely up there as one of my favourite nudes. I also used a gold 17 polish for the spots and I really love the way the two colours go together.

.1. I went to see Katy B with two of my bests this week, she was so good! To be fair I was quite drunk but I can remember pretty much all of it! I was stood right at the front, it was so surreal especially as I haven't seen many people live! She's definitely someone I want to see again! Im also desperate to see Snow Patrol in February if I can get someone to go with me!

.2. I wanted to go to a bonfire last night but we had no idea where there were any so we settled for a Dominoes (which took 6 hours and 5 phones calls to arrive!) and watched TV. Today me and my flatmates cooked our second Sunday roast which I loved (even though it can't beat my mum's!) and I also made apple crumble for dessert because i'm nice like that ;)

.3. I might as well be predictable and mention tonights X Factor. Like a lot of people I couldn't believe The Risk left especially over Frankie who we all know can't sing! I think my favourites are Craig and Marcus although I still think James Michael could have gone far in the competition if Gary had given him the chance.

I don't really want to think about how long it's been since I wrote anything beauty related! Now i'm at uni I seem to spend a lot of time getting ready for nights out so i've been discovering lots of products that I love. These are my top 3 favourites over September and October :)

Benefit Smokin' Eyes Kit

My friends bought me this for my birthday and i've been using it lots for nights out. It's taken the place of my ELF Brow Kit for the time being as it has everything I need to make my eyes look good! I've used the brow wax and the highlighter a lot and the eyeliner came in useful over Halloween when I wanted darker eyes. I love that I got this for my birthday as it's something i've actually used a lot and i'm thinking of buying it for other friends at Christmas.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle

I mentioned this briefly a few weeks ago and it's definitely one of the best hair products i've ever used. It makes the ends of my hair really soft and smooths them down which makes it look really healthy and easier to style. For less than £5 a bottle it makes such a difference to the condition of my hair and it's also one of the very few products i've found that i'd actually be happy to pay a bit more for.

Witch Concealer

I won this in a blog giveaway and I love it! I haven't had a liquid concealer for a while as i've been using Benefit's It Stick so it was a really nice change. I got shade fair which matches my skin well and I find it really easy to blend. I can definitely see myself purchasing this although I do want to try the Collection 2000 concealer that everyone raves about first.

I've had quite a quiet week to be honest; i've had a couple of nights out and i'm going out tonight and tomorrow for Halloween which should be good although i'm not 100% sure what i'm dressing as yet - I have some fake blood and some cat ears so i'm sure i'll be able to throw something together ;)

.2. I went home this weekend to pick up some more things I needed for uni and ended up bumping into my best friend in Tesco. I had no idea that she was home as she was coming to visit me at uni on Friday anyway so it was a bit of a surprise! We ended up spending a few hours catching up last night which was really nice and i'm looking forward to seeing her again on Friday for a night out!

.3. And because I can't think of anything else to write.... things I love about being home: my friends, sleeping in my comfy bed, unlimited hot power showers, home cooked food, my family, my pets, my clean and tidy bedroom and my TV.

This is the 17 random questions tag which i've seen on quite a few YouTube videos recently. I love doing these kinds of tags and always enjoy writing them and hopefully you might find out a bit more about me. I think I might have done a similar tag before as I do recognise some of the questions but it was probably a while ago so my answers might be different!

1. How did you get your ~~YouTube~~ blogging user name?

My blog started off as 'Vintage Sparkle' but I didn't really like the name so I changed it to 'This Is Caz' as I couldn't really think of anything else and I wanted it to be more personal and feature my name.

2. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?

I probably wouldn't change it to anything as it's not the most common name in the world and although I don't love it it's my name and I don't think it's something you should change.

3. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be and why?

Probably not to follow the crowd just because you think it's right, work out who your proper friends are and don't let loud people overshadow you. Since coming to uni i've changed a lot as i've finally felt like I can be myself around everyone.

4. How old were you when you first learned to blow a bubblegum bubble?

I have no idea! Maybe about 8 but i've never really been a fan of bubblegum.

5. What did you want to be when you were little?

I always wanted to be a vet and I think a little bit of me still does but i've come to accept that I really don't have the scientific mind that you need for it!

6. What do you order at Starbucks?

A Hot Chocolate or a Gingerbread Latte at Christmas. I really need to be more adventurous and order something different but Starbucks isn't close by so I don't really get the opportunity and it's also not cheap now i'm a student!

7. What's the hardest you ever laughed?

There have been too many times over the past month when i've laughed a lot - I don't think I could really pick a specific time! It's usually me making other people laugh as I always end up doing something stupid when i'm drunk!

8. If you could play any musical instrument, which would it be and why?

I'm torn between the piano or guitar, probably the piano just so I could play some of my favourite songs.

9. What's your favorite thing to do when your upset?

See my pets or listen to a good playlist on my iPod.

10. What's your favorite movie?

Either one of The Hangover films or anything that will make me smile.

11. What's one food you can not live without?

I can't decide between chocolate or tomato ketchup!

12. What's your favourite dessert?

This is the worst question in the world as i'm such a dessert kind of girl! I've always loved Lemon Meringue Pie but chocolatey desserts are equally as nice! Oh and I don't mind a bit of Cheesecake either ;)

13. Favorite pizza topping?

To be honest I don't have a true favourite - it would be probably easier to list the toppings I don't like! I'd probably say Chicken and Sweetcorn or Ham and Pineapple are my true favourites but to be fair if it's from Ask or Prezzo I don't care what's on it ;)

14. Would you rather have the superpower to read minds, or the superpower to be invisible?

Probably to be invisible - as much as i'd love to be able to read minds I think you'd find out far too much that you didn't want to know!

15. What did you do for your last birthday?

My 19th was on Freshers Week so you can probably guess what I did! It was quite strange celebrating my birthday with a group of people i'd only known for a couple of weeks but I had a really good night. The only thing missing was a bit of time with my family but I had a bit of an early birthday before I went and then I finally went out for a meal last week :)

16. If you had one personal "selfish" wish, what would it be and why?

I think it would just be for someone to pay for my entire time at university so that I could go into a job without lots of debts to pay off. Obviously like most girls there are a million things i'd love to change about my appearance but i'm not even going to start writing them all ;)

17. What does OMGHHKP mean to you?

I don't know what this means but after googling it i'm not even going to bother going in to all that JuicyStar07 stuff, it's just OMG with a few letters on the end.

You Use Your Heart As A Weapon, And It Hurts Like Heaven

.1. I've been watching quite a bit of TV recently and it made my week when I saw that Junior Doctors: Your Life in Their Hands: One Year Check Up was on! I've got my fingers crossed they'll make another series as I was addicted to it last time! My flatmates are all Made In Chelsea addicts so I watched my first full episode this week. I didn't think it was too bad and I can see myself enjoying the rest of the series when I get to know who everyone is! I also watched Gossip Girl for the first time and I can definitely see why everyone loves a bit of Chace Crawford ;)

.2. I know i've been promising that i'll blog in the past few weeks but i'm actually hoping to make it happen this week. I don't think my photos will be too good though as the lighting in my room is really bad! I didn't think i'd ever end up not having the time to blog properly but I always seem to be sleeping, eating or at uni! ;)

.3. I went home on Friday again as I had to pick up some things i'd ordered and got send home. I also tried to give blood for the sixth time, it didn't work again because my veins aren't very good so I was gutted as I have a rare blood type which they really need! I also had my hair cut (although you can't tell!) and fitted in a bit of shopping before going back to uni for a night out yesterday!

I’ve Got A Thousand People Telling Me A Million Things That I Should Be

I've been promising this post for a while and the reason I left it so long is because I wanted my room to be finished before I took the photos. Well it's not completely finished but as i've moved to uni I thought I might as well do this post now. As you might be able to tell I don't have any curtains and ornaments and there are no photos on the walls either. I'm letting my mum choose the curtains as i'm not really sure what I want so hopefully i'll have some for when I come home at Christmas. As for photos, I just haven't found any frames that I love. I want one that is light coloured and either vintagey or one where I can put in multiple photos. I'm just a very indecisive person!

This photo is my room just after I got my new carpet. As you can see I also need to change the material on the cupboards as it's still purple; hopefully it will match the curtains when I get them.

I'm going to do another post on my uni room at some point - it's definitely not as nice as my room at home, these photos make me miss it!

.1. Today i'm blogging from my room at home which i'm loving! I've been here since Friday and it's so nice to sleep in a comfy bed and not have to think too much about what meal i've got to make next! I'm going back to uni later tonight and as i've brought all my washing back I now have a huge suitcase and lots of food to take back - i'm going to look like i'm moving in again!

.2. Uni has been alright for the past week, lectures aren't too bad and we haven't been given much work to do so i'm happy! As much as I love living on the top floor we're a very noisy flat especially at 11 when we're drunkenly walking down the stairs singing or 3am when we're coming back in! We got a letter on Thursday saying that we have to be quiet for 2 weeks or we might get kicked out so we're going to have to go out less and stop shouting! We're trying to see the funny side of it instead of getting angry with whoever it was that reported us ;)

.3. Even though I haven't had a lot of time today i've still found the time to finally use my Model's Own Nail Art Pen to create some leopard print nails. I'll try and take a photo of them for a little blogpost at some point instead of trying to describe the colours i've used. I'm hoping that my pen won't dry out now i've started using it!

♥ of the week: My new H&M feather earrings - I lost one of my old ones on a night out and was gutted as I didn't think they'd still have them in store. They are a slightly different colour but i'll definitely be wearing them lots!

I couldn't love this band any more than I already do. Another amazing song which makes me so desperate for their album to be released on November 13th. I definitely need to see them live!
I'm currently waiting for my flatmates to get back from uni so we can order a Pizza Hut delivery before we all go home for the weekend. I'm so excited to see everyone and enjoy a couple of days where I don't have to cook for myself ;)

1. I've just got back from sitting in A&E for 3 hours with my flatmate. She's fine and hasn't fractured her knee like we first thought so it's all good although hospitals are seriously boring, especially when there is nothing to read, no TV and no shop! We were sat there thinking of things to gossip about or watching the doctors walk up and down the corridors instead of seeing patients!

.2. I've had another week of going out, boring lectures and all that uni related stuff but i'm really looking forward to Friday when i'm going home for the weekend. I can't wait to have a power shower and eat some nice food and i'm hopefully going out for a meal for my birthday - only a month late ;) I've also had a few ideas for blog posts so fingers crossed i'll have the chance to write them and take a few photos.

.3. I finally started catching up on X Factor; i've missed a lot of the earlier shows but I find it easier to watch it all on YouTube where I can skip all the adverts and I don't have to sit there for hours! My favourite from last night's show was James Michael; there were quite a few acts that I wanted to like but just didn't live up to my expectations - I definitely think Marcus Collins had a bad song choice!

Here's a little OOTN post for you - i'm about to go out but as I got ready a bit early thanks to my flatmates falling asleep I had the chance to take a photo :) Apologies for the bad quality - I haven't taken photos for my blog since I moved to uni and the lighting is awful!

I ordered this dress yesterday to take advantage of free next day delivery and I really like it. It is quite short and as i'm only 5ft if you're any taller you're probably better getting a similar one from the normal range!
