So. I'm back! I haven't made a video in oh-so-long, and I haven't blogged for an even longer period of time. Now that I'm back home for the summer, I'll have plenty of time to catch up on both. Facts of the Day #32

2. My aunt has a radioactive toilet.

Funny, right? The light from the window was coming in at just the right angle, and it was lighting up the toilet.

3. I got a cute bracelet at an art fair: (custom made too! I got to pick the leather, the beads, the metal color, and braid or no braid.)

The middle stone is a petoskey stone. Both sides are pretty cool, so I like to flip it around every once in a while.

4. Our flight got delayed. (Just so this doesn't get too confusing, this is more like the facts of a few days.) We (my family) were supposed to fly home from Michigan Saturday evening. But Saturday morning we got a call that the first leg of our flight got delayed, which ruled out the next leg of our flight. So we got moved to the next day. And instead of flying to Detroit, we would fly to New York. So the next day, we got on our plane. Except we had to wait an hour and a half after we boarded because the fuel was unbalanced. Fortunately, we still made it to New York with 30 minutes to spare. Another good thing: our flight was at the same gate we landed at. (Same plane, even.) Also, when boarding the same plane for the second time, the ticket checker man (what is that job called?) decided my carry-on suitcase was too big. I had just had it on the same exact plane. It wasn't too big according to the airport in Michigan...but they made me check it anyway in New York. Oh well. The good thing is I made it home and so did my luggage. The end.

How to clean your room

I don't know about you, but I cannot get anything done when my room is a mess. So without further ado, this is how I clean my room. (Hopefully this will help you clean your room too!)

Before.

So as you can see (and what you can't see as well), is that my room is a mess. I've got shoes and bags and blankets all over the floor, and my desk and dresser (basically everything that's a flat surface) are covered.

It can be a little overwhelming to start cleaning your room. The best thing to do is to focus on one little thing at a time. I like to start by putting on some chill music (or bright and cheerful music, it just depends on my mood.) This just helps a little to keep me from being too bored while cleaning my room.

The first actual cleaning I do is to make my bed. This is a pretty large area in my room, so taking care of that first makes a big difference. Plus I also end up picking up all the pillows from around my room.

The next thing to do is clean off your messiest surface. For me, that's usually my desk. It's a magnet for papers, nail polish, and random junk. Start by picking up the the things that definite place. (For example, I have a box specifically for my nail polish. So I put that away first.) Then just clean up everything else. It's alright if you have to leave out a couple of papers (and your water glass!), but just make sure you clear off the majority of your desk!

Now move onto your other surfaces. My dresser and my white desk/cabinet usually don't collect anything other than dust. They are a little cluttered with candles and souvenirs, but that's fine by me. Really all you have to do is dust those sorts of surfaces. The best way to do this is to move things off to the side and then dust the open area, then move them to the other side and dust that open area. I usually like to rearrange all of my knick-knacks after dusting, since I've been moving them around anyway.

Now if you're anything like me, your floor is a mess. Clothes, blankets, bags, and shoes galore are all over the place. So just clean it up! Really, there's not much to it. Put your shoes in your closet, put your bags wherever they belong, and your blanket shouldn't even be on the floor at this point. You've already made your bed, right?

Tada! Now your room is clean!

Mine's at least as clean as it can be what with all my dorm stuff piled in a corner:

Extra Tips:
1. Empty your trash can at some point! And if you know you're going to be throwing out a lot of stuff, get a different trash bag just for that. That way you won't have an overflowing trash can at the end of your cleaning.
2. To keep your room clean, PUT STUFF BACK WHERE IT BELONGS! I know that you've heard that before, and it sounds really simple, but it's what works. Don't throw your clothes on the floor, put them in the hamper. Put your shoes back in your closet, and don't leave bags sitting around.
3. Again, listen to some music while you clean. It really helps!

This only took me about an hour to do, so you won't be wasting your day just cleaning your room. I hope this was a helpful little guide, and thank your for reading!

Dorm Room Ideas

So the past few days I've been collecting ideas for decorating my dorm room. I'm wanting it to be pretty and girly, and not full of too many bright colors like some rooms. More delicate colors, I suppose. I'll try to do some DIY videos on my YouTube and some picture tutorials on this blog.

1. These are some cute little bird mobiles that I saw in a little shop in Michigan. I'd like to make one just to hang above my bed or my desk.

2. These mercury glass jars are so cute! I want to make several, one or two for pencils and such, and a couple for flowers and dried lavender. (tutorial/link)

3. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to have light strings in my dorm or not. So if I'm not (because I've had my eye on these from Target), I thought these paper balls would be a cute alternative. I could make several and just string 'em up. (tutorial/link)

4. I loove the look of these lace tiles. I also loove the look of this cute lace trash can. I figured I could get a more functional trash can and use the lace/spray paint technique to dress it up a bit. (tutorial/link)

1. I thought it would be good to cover up my closet with a cute curtain since there's no door. I have an old shower curtain that's white with pretty embroidered flowers, and I think that'll look nice. (link)

2. And of course, I've got to make it personal with a monogram. I'm thinking I'll get a flat block letter "C" and cover it with the same scrapbook paper I'll make the bird mobile out of. (top/bottom)

Facts of the Day #31

1. I went to the beach (lake beach) with my cousins today. Just for a short walk, but it was fun. I'll put up some amusing pics soon...

2. And now I'm just sitting on the couch watching dorm hauls and dorm tours. I'm obsessed (for the moment.)

3. I made some cool bracelets today at VBS. (I'm helping out for the week while I'm visiting my cousins. And actually, I made one of the bracelets yesterday.) Bracelets are always too big for my little wrists, so the only bracelets I wear are either really adjustable, made by me, or just way too big and I end up taking them off.

Anyway, both are four-strand braids. The one on the left is mint green yarn (I made it big enough to wrap around twice) and the other is just this waxy twine stuff.

4. I've heard cocoa butter is good for getting rid of scars. I have this ugly raised scar on my left foot from an oyster (cut it a few years ago), and I have a 100% cocoa butter stick. I'm hoping that will add up to a significantly faded scar. (pics soon.)

5. Obsessed with Pinterest over the past few days. I've been going to the crafts/diy section and I've repinned many things. I've found a lot of stuff I want to do to decorate my dorm, and loooottsss of bracelets I want to make. I love the stacking trend, but as I said before, I struggle with bracelets. Maybe Pinterest will help me?

Who knows how many of these I'll actually do...but maybe some? hehe. The paper ornaments intrigue me. I saw a really cute string of lacy white lantern lights, but I'm not allowed to have lights of that sort in my room. I figure I could make a garland of the ornaments and it would be just as cute! I also like the tile things, but I wonder how on earth I could incorporate them into my room...

6. Confession. Sometimes I look through my old pins and think "why did I ever pin that?"

NYX soft matte lip cream: Addis Ababa

I just recently purchased this at Ulta (bogo 1/2 off!), and I had been wanting to try it out for quite a long time. And I looove it! Here's some pictures, and my review is below.

It has a simple doe foot wand.

On the lips. One layer. (You can make it a lot brighter with another layer if you like.)

After a meal. It wears quite well!

This lip color lasts well, as you can see from the above pictures. When you first put it on, it feels really light and smooth. After a few minutes it dries down and then lasts and lasts. Of course, it's not as bright after a meal, but there's still plenty of color left. It isn't drying, and you can hardly feel it on your lips at all. Seriously, this is one of the best lip products I've ever tried! I'd give it an A+. Thanks for reading!

wet'n'wild Color Icon eyeliner: Turquoise

This eyeliner is GORGEOUS! It's a nice bright color that's not too funky for everyday wear (in my opinion at least), and it's got a nice amount of sparkle to it. Not a lot, and especially not so much that it goes all over your face.

I tested out how it smudges on my hand. It didn't fare so well... But on the eye it actually lasts pretty well. I wore it for several hours before washing it off and it didn't smudge.

This is what was left behind on my finger from smudging it. Again, you can see how much sparkle is in it!

This lasts really well on my eyes. As for application, it doesn't glide very well. You do have to do shorter strokes because of this, but it's so pigmented that you don't have to go over your lashline multiple times. All in all, I really like this eyeliner. Plus it's only 99 cents!

wet'n'wild megalast lipsticks (Spiked with Rum, Wine Room, Smokin' Hot Pink, Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, Purty Persimmon, Pinkerbell)

I've already reviewed the shade Smokin' Hot Pink, but I decided I would do a monster-sized review of all the shades I own. I'll do another post comparing them to other lipsticks I have, so stay tuned for that as well!

All the labels. The one thing that bugs me is the lack of shade names on the older lipsticks. The newer shades have the name as well as the number, which is a wonderful improvement!

Swatches! All are 2-3 swipes. Top to bottom: Spiked with Rum, Wine Room, Smokin' Hot Pink, Cherry Picking, Red Velvet, Purty Persimmon, Pinkerbell

Next are lip swatches. For reference, this is my natural lip color:

First up is Spiked with Rum (915B)

It's a pretty plummy brown color. (is that even the right color description?...) It applied easily, it's quite pigmented and shows no signs of patchiness. I don't think this shade is the most flattering on me, but I'm sure it would be lovely on darker skintones.

This is the same lipstick, but blotted considerably to show it as a stain. I like it!

Next shade: Wine Room (906D)

This shade is a little more mauve-y. It's got more pink to it, so it's more flattering on me. It applies well, and like Spiked with Rum, it's quite pigmented.

Lightly blotted, for the full matte effect. When applied without blotting, most of these lipsticks have the tiniest bit of a creme shine to them.

Smokin' Hot Pink (C905D)

This one applies without any skipping. It's probably my favorite of the non-reds...I'm obsessed with reds. Anyways, this one is very pigmented and a beautiful bright pink.

Again, blotted

Cherry Picking (965)

This is a very blue based red, and it's almost berry toned. Not quite, though. It applies smoothly, and feels less thick than the others. (It's got a little more slip to it) Because of the nature of the red color combined with the slip, you have to be quite careful when applying this. You can quite easily end up with a bit of red lipstick outside the lines. (Which is hard to clean up because it stains.) However, it's quite a pretty color!

Blotted, it makes a really pretty lip stain.

Red Velvet (C910D)

I'd say this is also a nice blue based red, although it leans a little orange when compared to Cherry Picking. Red Velvet and Cherry Picking are both very similar in texture and payoff.

Blotted. Again, very pretty lipstain!

Purty Persimmon (970)

This was a trickier color. I don't know exactly why, but this one is a little patchy. It looks really nice once you have it smoothed out, but it can be hard to get it to that point. It's nothing too bad for a $3 lipstick, and I love the color so much that I don't really have a problem with it.

Blotted. This is nice for toning down an otherwise very bright lip color.

And last but not least:

Pinkerbell (968)

This is a pretty neat color! It's a bright bright pink, almost neon. (I'll have a pic in a bit that shows what I mean by neon. This above picture is still fairly accurate.) Although it's neat, it's really difficult to apply. It's really patchy, and it's kind of chalky compared to the other colors. I found the best way to apply it (although it wouldn't be as bright) is to pat/dab it on rather than swipe it on. Otherwise, it's a bit of a mess. Chapped lips need not apply, because you need really smooth, moisturized lips to pull this off.

Blotted, I think it adds a pretty pink flush.

This picture best shows off the 'neon' effect this lipstick gives. It would look espescially neon against tanner skin.

All in all, I think these lipsticks are lovely. I'm a fan of lipsticks without any shimmer, and these fit the bill. I hope this review was helpful!

I purchased these LE sets several months ago, so sadly they're no longer available. However, most of the products within the sets are available separately. I hope these swatches will help!

Out of the flora collection, the lip gloss and the blush are available in the permanent line of products.

wet'n'wild goldigger eye shadow single

This eyeshadow came in a little set- one eyeshadow, one eyeliner. Two for the price of one! I've seen these sets around before, so once I saw a color I liked, I purchased. Here's some pics and my impressions:

The eyeliner is quite pigmented. It applies smoothly without tugging. It wears about as well as any w'n'w eyeliner- quite well, with a bit of smudging by the end of the day.

The eyeshadow is quite powdery. I swatched it the same as I would any eyeshadow, and this is the amount of powder that came up.

Applied directly to my arm, it's still quite powdery

But when blended, it looks quite nice!

This eyeshadow is pigmented enough to show up well on the eyes. It's not as bright a gold as I like, but that's nothing against the product itself. It is quite powdery, so you'd have to be careful about fall out. For only $2, I'd say it's worth a try. (My other favorites from this line include Nutty and Penny, a warm taupe and a copper shade) Thanks for reading!

1. I'm back! Uh finally... I was away for two weeks (the beach and New Orleans). So I'm back and ready to rumble. I'm in negotiations with my mother in regards to bringing my computer with me to Michigan, so we'll see how that goes.
2. Yesterday was a rather successful day! I:

d. Drew a couple sketchy drawings (I'm a little out of practice. Hmmm....)

4. I'm obsessed with the Josh Garrels channel on Pandora. For some reason I was under the impression that Pandora just plays crappy music...LIES. It's fantastic. And the Josh Garrels channel is sooo chill. I listened to it for several hours yesterday and did not tire of it. (I never listen to music that long...)

5. I figured something out! My laptop always gets overheated on my bed because the little feet on the bottom of my case just sink in. (I knew that already, this next part is what I discovered) So...when I was cleaning my room I found a square of cardboard and put it under my laptop. Voila! I now have a super light weight surface to keep my laptop on. It works as a lap desk or just a flat surface for my laptop to sit on instead of my bed.

6. That's about it! I have plans today to film several videos, as well as practice some more drawing...

Vacation

All right, so I haven't updated in a few days. Today I'm going to my orientation, and then the next two weeks will be a whirlwind of different trips, so I probably won't be able to blog much at all. e.l.f studio cream eyeshadow: bronzed

This is the final e.l.f cream eyeshadow I'll be reviewing (for now at least, it's the last of the three available at my Target) It's a pretty dark bronzey shade that I actually have quite liked using as an eyeliner. I haven't tried it out a whole lot on my lids, but it wore pretty well when I used it lightly as a crease color. I've mostly used it to do some more natural winged out liner instead of my usual black eyeliner, and I think it looks pretty :)

This shade has a different texture from dawn and candlelight. It's greasier, but not in a bad way. It's smoother. It doesn't have sparkle to it like the other shades, it has more of a shimmery glow to it. When I wear it as an eyeliner, I do have to go over it a second time because it's sheerer than an eyeliner. (It's not intended as an eyeliner, so that's fine.) It is perfectly opaque enough to use as an eyeshadow. I just don't like to wear shades this dark, so I prefer to use it as an eyeliner. I think it's a very good product all around!

e.l.f studio cream eyeshadow: candlelight

Today I'm reviewing another cream eyeshadow from e.l.f's Studio Line. I quite liked the other shade I tried (dawn), and my thoughts remain pretty much the same:

1. The packaging is a little bulky.

2. It's long wearing, and quite pretty.

Here's some pics:

This shade is a little sheerer than dawn, but as it is a lighter shade I don't find that a problem. It can be built up easily as it has a fairly smooth texture. There's a little bit of sparkle to it. I love this shade because it is really brightening, and good for lazy days :) It lasts all day on my faintly oily eyes atop TFSI, and at the low price of $3, I'd say that's pretty great!

wet'n'wild mega last lipstick: smokin' hot pink (905D)

Let me start by saying I LOVE this. I've tried one mega last lipstick before this, and I hated it. Reason number one: my lips were chapped. Reason number two: It was a terrible color on me. It totally put me off of the lipstick for a while, because I thought they would all be as terrible. I am so glad this color proved me wrong...right after I bought this color, I had to go back and get two more. I love those too, and I'll post reviews of them soon!

This shade is called "smokin' hot pink," or 905D. My one and only gripe is that the name is ONLY on the plastic wrapping that you take off to open the product. So if I don't remember a few weeks from now what the shade name is, that's going to be a bit of a problem. (Fortunately I have this blog to keep track of things for me...I've had to refer back to several of my old posts to remember the names of different products.) But the things I love far outweigh this problem: You can wear it as a stain (by lightly patting it on) or as a full blown lipstick (by swiping it on). As a stain it is matte, and as a lipstick it has a little more of a sheen, but that dries down. These lipsticks have no shimmer at all, which I love. They aren't really drying as long as I wear a little lip balm with them. They do last quite a while as well. I only have to reapply it twice at school, and that's after I've eaten something. Although sometimes I reapply more often just because I love applying lipstick... And the best part is that the lipstick is only $2!

I just adore this shade! It's such a pretty pinky shade that's perfect for spring. It's actually one of those colors that brightens your whole face, so that's pretty great.

wet'n'wild juicy lip balm (strawberry, cherry, raspberry)

These balms are just so cute! They retail for around $3, so that's pretty great...
My thoughts: I purchased two colors, and one of my friends bought another shade, so she let me swatch it. The two colors I purchased (cherry and raspberry) lend a pretty tint to your lips, which is quite nice. I wouldn't say that they are particularly moisturizing. I think if you start off with smooth lips when you apply the balm, your lips will stay smooth. If you apply the balm to chapped lips, your lips will stay about as chapped. They also smell pretty good! The main thing I dislike is the taste from the SPF. Basically, they're all sunscreen flavored. Blech! The packaging is pretty bulky, but I actually quite like it. It makes sense that it's bigger anyway, because the balm itself is so big. Plus, it's pretty :)
Now onto the pictures:

So, all in all, I quite like these. They add a pretty tint to your lips, and the SPF is good for your lips. (If you can get past the taste)

By the way, I swatched all of these in a car. My friend Catherine and I were running errands the day before prom, so I swatched the products I bought along the way :)

So I've been gone for a little over a week...

Ack! I feel so awful!
I've just had so much homework over the past week that I've had no time to blog or edit any videos. Plus I had prom this past weekend, so I didn't have any time then either. So anyway, I should finally have some down time this weekend. Which means I can finally put up the several product reviews I need to do, outfit of the day posts, and who knows what else. And I'll be able to edit some videos! I have 4 to edit, so hopefully I'll be able to get those done and upload them throughout the next week. And then maybe film and edit some others :) This next month will be a little slower than usual with posts and videos because I have AP exams and senior exams. But by the 23, I think I'll be completely done with school (graduated and everything! ack!) and I'll be able to post on the daily. Yayyyy! BTW, I can't believe I'm graduating...

...And I sound kind of out of breath in this post. Oh well. Ta ta for now, and hopefully I'll see you all quite soon.

Facts of the Day #25

1. These are kind of more facts of yesterday.

2. I totally fell asleep today when I was doing homework yesterday...I definitely didn't get enough sleep the night before because I was doing a lit assignment.

3. My school is playing assassin! We're killing each other off with squirt guns, and the last person standing wins...I'm probably going to lose.

4. I totally had perfect winged eyeliner yesterday:

awk pics...I had just woken up from my nap!

I think I'll do a video on how to do winged eyeliner soon, since it was requested on my giveaway video.

6. And here's how I did my hair. It kind of reminds me of Princess Jasmine, and possibly Clove's hairstyle in the arena.

Actually...that's a pretty odd note to end a post on. So, I love eating carrots. They're yummy and healthy :)

8. I'm having such issues choosing how I want to do my hair and makeup and nails for prom! Plus I need to film some prom videos for YouTube. And edit three that I have on my computer right now! And film a bajillion more video ideas that I have written down. (10 videos!) And all the videos you are all suggesting on my giveaway video! I love all the ideas :) I can only film 3-4 videos on a good day though, so I feel like I'm getting a little behind...

9. I was watching ANTM last week and I just had to take a screen shot of this:

It looks like Laura's head is floating! Hahahahaaaa....

I feel like my blog has come such a long way too. I started it in the beginning of 2011 (or maybe the end of 2010, not sure), and stopped posting after January. I think you can really see the difference between the posts from then and the posts from now. I've gotten a new camera, figured out (or at least tried to figure out) better lighting, and hopefully my lighting has improved. I was looking through all of my posts to find these swatches and I was like WOAH. I took a really long break there, didn't I? But now that I have a camera that's actually good for blogging, and I quite like blogging, I won't be taking anymore breaks like that.
But anyways, I have to go do homework now, so GO ENTER THE CONTEST. I'm loving all the suggestions I'm getting in the comments for videos!
