friend Florence's birthday, we had a little lunch/shopping date at Pacific Mall. For those of you who do not live in Toronto or do not know what Pacific Mall is, it's basically one of the largest Chinese malls in the Greater Toronto Area. It's opened all year round, thus, close to impossible to find a parking spot during the holidays/weekends.

They have some cosmetics and clothing stores inside the mall. Most of the stuff are imported from Hong Kong and China but selling for 7x more than its original price but with the same not so good quality. As for cosmetics, they are definitely more expensive than online stores even though they have a large selection. I usually don't enjoy shopping there just because I can never find anything that I feel it's worth getting. However, today was a little different. Let me show you some of the goodies that I picked up today:

Remember those Banane Taipei and T.A.T.A Baby "Birkin" purses that I posted here? Well, since I couldn't get my hands on the Banane Taipei ones (long story, it pretty much got lost in the mail), I was more than happy to find this today! I had a pretty hard time debating between this colour or one that was completely hot-pink. I decided to stick with this in the end because not only is the print more apparent, but I do enjoy the classier colour combo. (On sale for $20 no tax)

I finally got my hands on some platform sneakers! I really regret not getting these when I was in Hong Kong and Nanjing last summer. Then when I came back to Toronto, I had went crazy trying to find them online, but they were still really pricey. I saw these ones today at Pacific Mall and I loved the colour and the detachable fur! They make a great shoe for both Winter and Summer. They are also a better quality than the ones that I had seen in China, so I didn't mind paying $40 for them.

Big earmuffs = LOVE! I couldn't resist getting more earmuffs just because I wanted a black one so that it would match with anything. Plus, they were buy one get one 50% off anyways. (Both earmuffs for around $13)

Lastly, I picked up this little toy for JL. For those who does not know, JL is a huge fan of toys! (You can check out his toy blog here!) I'm talking about Gundams, Kamen Riders, Ultaman and just pretty much anything that you can think of. Well, maybe not Figma's. So when I came across this little toy line, I knew he would like it right away. It's a cat that's dressed up as Batman, which is quite suitable for JL. Might as well let Batman sit in his glass cabinets with all of the other toys! Hehe ~ ($10.99 + tax)

The launch party was held at the Lomography store, located at 536 Queen St West in Toronto. I had already seem of the new cameras through the internet, but I couldn't wait to see them in person.

Glad to have spend the night with my two girlies, Rica and Joyce! Wakatsuki Chinatsu has just released her Spring 2012 catalog on her website. Some of these pieces are just stunning! I'm especially loving the pastel colours, denim shirts, stadium jackets, dots and floral prints. These are definitely trends that you should look out for in the next season. On another note, Wakatsuki Chinatsu is 5 months pregnant! You can read all about it here! I generally have very oily skin, but against this harsh Winter weather in Toronto, even my face can start to get flaky. This makes the application of foundation really difficult and my face gets extremely red because it's so sensitive. Plus, not to mention that it hurts! Thus, over the years, I have discovered little things that I can do to prevent my skin from becoming overly dry during the Winter. I wanted to share these tips with you as well and so here are my 5 Winter Skin care tips:

#1: Gel Moisturizers

Gel moisturizers are my favourite cream to use during this time of the year. Gel moisturizers tend to provide a burst of moisture that perfectly quenches and hydrates the skin. They are very light and absorbs really quickly into the skin. I love using gel creams during the winter just right before my makeup routine. It really smooths all the rough patches on my face. Here are two of my favourite ones and you know what's so great about these besides smoothing dry skin? They are incredibly affordable! Remember my review here of the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream? It was only $10 CAD and as you can tell, I'm almost out of it (That was my second jar). I recently discovered this new one by L'oreal and I would argue that it's even better than the Garnier one. Not only does it offer sun protection but it's also suitable for oily skin. It is a little more expensive than the Garnier one, however, you do get more product. Both of these creams come in a very heavy jar container, so it's very chic. (Available at your local drugstore)

#2: Hydrating Facial Masks

I cannot begin to explain how amazing facial masks are, especially during the dry season. Most sheet masks recommend that you apply one sheet on a weekly basis, however, since my face is extra dry during Winter, I apply on every single night just after my shower. Sheet masks contain a lot of serums and if you look for one that's specially for hydration, it'll be dripping when you take it out of the packaging. My favourite sheet masks of all time are still My Beauty Diary and My Scheming because they have the most serum per sheet. (You can see my reviews of face masks here). I would recommend the Aloe Vera one by My Beauty Diary for hydration. (Available at Artie Style, $15.99/10 sheets, Use code "THISWASFOREVER" for 10% off on $20+ purchases)

#3: Evian Water Facial Spray

This little spray never leaves my purse during the Winter. I carry this around with me all the time and whenever I feel my face tightening from the cold, I quickly take this out and give it a few sprays. Evian supplies the vital moisture skin so desperately needs to look soft, supple, healthy, and young looking. You can use it to rehydrate and deliver the perfect balance of minerals skin demands. Don't worry about messing up your makeup because the spray can even act as a makeup fix. The best part is that you can also take this with you on the airplane for easy travel. (Available at Sephora $10 for 2 50ml bottls)

#4: Hand Moisturizer

I can never leave home without my hand lotion. It's not just my face that gets very dry during the Winter, but my hands always crack and becomes dry from the wind. Thus, it's essential to carry a decent hand lotion in your purse. This is the new one that I've been loving by Crabtree & Evelyn. I am very picky about my hand creams because I want to provide a great amount of moisture without being overly oily. Plus, the scent need to be mild and not too strong. Prior to using this one, I had been using the L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, which is just as good. (Available at Crabtree & Evelyn, $9 CAD)

#5: Humidifier

Last but definitely not the least, this is my new baby humidifier. Isn't it just adorable? Central heating systems (as well as space heaters) blast hot dry air throughout my home and this can cause my house to be very, very dry. Humidifiers get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. I have placed this right inside my bedroom and turn it on whenever I'm in my room. I turn it on every night before I go to bed as well so that my face will not be dry in the morning. Plus, with the humidifier around, it can also help boost up my body's immune system. Why? That's because dry air is one of the major causes of respiratory infections, nose bleeds and winter colds. A lack of moisture can prevent your body's immune system from repelling infection causing germs, and can actually promote the growth of some bacteria, viruses, and respiratory irritants. (Available at your local Walmart, $17.99)

I hope this post had been helpful and informational. Of course these tips are not definitive. If you have any other ideas on how to combat dry skin during Winter, please share them with me in the comments below! I would love to hear from you!

credit: humidifiersdirect.com

LAYERS! Besides what I was wearing in those photos, I also had an outer jacket as well. These layers are a great way to play with texture and colours without having to sacrifice warmth, which is very important for the winter. Try playing around with different combinations of vests, light jackets, sweaters, shirts and etc to see what you can come up with.

On another note, I finally decided to wear these Jeffrey Campbell Probation Fur after having them in a box for two months. I bought them a while ago during Black Friday from Solestruck. They reminded me so much of the Burberry Creepers. I paid just under $100 CAD for them with shipping, which is a fraction of the Burberry pair (retailed for over $800 USD). It's also helps that these are one of my most comfortable pair of shoes to walk around him. Seriously, I can walk in them for an entire day.

Liz Lisa is without a doubt one of my favourite Japanese brands and this collection features some of spring's major trends: lots of pastels, nudy colours florals, retro, high-waisted, lace, and girly style. I can't wait for Spring to arrive! Models Yui Kanno and Nozomi look as cute, girly and sweet as ever! This time I discovered this amazing block, harem pants/legging on sale for a mere $5! I'm honestly loving that store now! Also, my Forever 21 order came yesterday and along with it came this coat. I had tried it on previously in the store and loved it, but I had refused to pay full price for it. So when it went on sale for only $25, I snatched it right away. It definitely reminds me of something straight from Anime, thus, I had to pair it with this shirt. I wish back then my high school uniform was this nice then I wouldn't have rebelled against wearing it so much.

Then apply your facial skincare routines.

INGREDIENTS
Beadlike Grains Extract, Green Tea Extract, Collagen, Aloe Extract, Watercress Extract, Xanthan Gum, 1,3-Butylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Water.

WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT

My Scheming masks are made by the same Taiwan manufacturers as My Beauty Diary masks. However, when they were promoting these in Hong Kong, they were a lot cheaper than the My Diary masks back in August of last year. Thus, I stocked up so many of these while I was in Hong Kong. Here are some of the important features of this face masks:
-The mask is attached to a pearl paper when remove from the pack
-The mask sheet itself is lot thinner than the My Beauty Diary ones, I have ripped it once or twice when I wasn't being too careful
-Adheres and fits very nicely to my face
-The essence is transparent and has a gel texture, which can absorb really nicely into the skin
-It does have a mild fragrance, so if you prefer fragrance-free items, I would not recommend this

What I really like about this mask that is that it leaves my skin glowing and super soft after using it constantly for a week. It's great to see results so quickly. It also really smoothed my skin, making the application of foundation much smoother. Like mentioned above, the only downside of this product is that it does rip really easily if you are not too careful when taking it out of the package.

You can purchase this item at Artie Style and Use code "THISWASFOREVER" for 10% off on $20+ purchases

RATING
Product (5/5)
Cost (4/5)
Ease of Use (5/5)
Packaging (5/5) - Very cute!

The big launch date is this Wednesday, January 18th in a massive shopping complex in Causeway Bay (currently home to Giordano and Watsons). This prime piece of retail space will set them back HK$11 million (CAD$1.35 million) a month, double Giordano’s current rent. According to SCMP (via Retail In Asia), this means they will have to sell four or five items of clothing at an average price of HK$300 every minute in order to turn over a reasonable profit – that’s at least 6667 items a day!

Butterboom has been invited to have a sneak peek on Tuesday where they will be live-tweeting photos to their Twitter feed @Butterboom with the full story posted on Butterboom.com on Wednesday morning!

Check out some of my favourite outfits featuring some of my favourite Forever 21 pieces:

Forever 21 spiked heels

Forever 21 two texture coat

Forever 21 pink collar shirt

Forever 21 vintage wide-leg denim

Forever 21 boyfriend light-washed denim

Forever 21 yellow plaid skirt

Hopefully Forever 21 will be a huge success in the Hong Kong market and thus, will open more branches around the city. I purchased the Green Apple colour one last April and have worn it consistently ever since! So I was extremely happy when Lens Village allowed me to choose whichever lens I had wanted to review and without hesitation, I chose the Sesame Gray one!

These lens are very popular in Japan and now they are hitting the N. America market as well! With Tsubasa being the designer and the face of these lenses, it's no wonder that these are such big hit! I have always been a huge fan of Tsubasa (Dolly Wink and Candy Doll cosmetics and her style in general), thus, it's obvious that I would love these lenses!

The pattern on these lenses are so unique and unlike anything that I've see or tried before. These lenses are also HUGE, as in like 15 mm in diameter. I do have to admit though that they are not as comfortable as 14-14.5 mm lenses. I guess it's because not enough oxygen is getting into my eyes and thus, O cannot wear these for more than 6-8 hours. After 6-8 hours, I will have to quickly take these out and switch back to my glasses. However, they are GREAT at enlarging the eyes to give it that "dolly" effect.

These lenses are without a doubt my favourite lenses at the moment. I do enjoy the Sesame Gray a lot more than the Green Apple, just because they are neutrals. This means that they will go really nicely regardless of the eye makeup. I'm also extremely impressed at the fact that even though they are 15 mm lenses, they still don't look scary or really unnatural or "alien"-ish. Thus, I had not stepped into the store for many, many years. (If you don't live in Canada, Sirens is similar to Forever 21 but with more sex appeal). So you can probably imagine my surprise when I saw this dress hanging on the store front this morning. I quickly went inside and tried it on. I couldn't help but feel that it was fate. Now don't get me wrong, there are still some tacky and "clubby" clothes in there that I would never, ever wear. But at least it's now only limited to one corner rather than consuming the entire store. And you want to know what's the best part? This dress only set me back $27.

The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter can be worn with or without Lipliner. Reapply as often as desired for softer, smoother and instantly hydrated lips!

INGREDIENTS
(unavailable)

WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT
When I first heard about this product, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them! Being such a BIG Revlon lip product fan (read my previous reviews here), I just had to get my hands on these! I just love the idea of having a lip-balm and lipstick merging into one amazing product! Basically what these lip butters are are pigmented lip balms that moisturize your lips but add some fabulous colour as well. When they had first came out in America, I saw so many swatches all over the internet and I knew exactly what shades I had to get. I literally stalked my local Walmart to see when these would arrive! And then they did, I was the first one to purchase them! With 20 shades, I think it's fair to say that there's a suitable colour for everyone!

The price is also pretty reasonable. I find that Walmart have the cheapest price without any sale for $7.98 a piece. (I have also heard that Rexall had a BOGO sale before on these). So I definitely think that it's quite affordable. I also really like the packaging as well. Similar to their Colorburst lipsticks but with a more transparent lid, which I really enjoy. Since these are more of a balm-based lipstick, the colours are more sheer than regular lipsticks. They all still have a great deal of pigments and at the same time they are very hydrating on the lips. However, do not get fooled by all the delicious names of each colour, these lip butters do not have a scent or taste to them at all! Here are the colours that I have:

015 - Tutti Frutti

I'm usually not a huge fan of coral colours (I'm more of the nudes/pinks type of girl) but when I saw this colour swatched, I couldn't pass it up. It goes on sheer but you can build up the color to about medium opacity. It feels fun and festive, it's definitely wearable! I won't be wearing this now but I'll be saving it for the spring season! It'll look great with some bright coloured clothing!

055 - Cupcake

This is definitely a pop of colour. Cupcake is a pale blue-based pink. It's very similar to the MAC Viva Glam Gaga and the pink is very, very pink! Thus, it's not as wearable as some other shades of pink. The swatch is very light, however it's buildable. I really like the colour, the consistency, and the fact that these leave my lips feeling hydrated.

060 - Gumdrop

This is my FAVOURITE colour out of all the ones that I had purchased! Gumdrop is a light lilac color with a hint of shimmer. I don't know why, but I'm really loving lilac lips lately! It's fairly pigmented, and I can get a good color with only a few swipes. This colour will go well with the Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle! They are a perfect, perfect match!

070 - Cherry Tart

Once again, I'm not usually a red lips type of girl either because I find that they always make me look so old! However, I finally found a red that's more workable to my liking! Since it's more sheer, it's much more pleasing my lips. Cherry Tart is a shimmery blue-based red and its medium-intensity will work for me because I'm scared of full-on red lips. I would have to say that this colour is probably my 3rd or 4th favourite out of all the colours that I own.

075 - Lollipop

This is my second favourite colour! Highly pigmented to create a gorgeous bold lip that will not dry out. This is the most pigmented stick out of all the ones that I own. Thus, you have to be really careful when applying it on. Lollipop is just a fabulous bright fuchsia with a touch of shimmer.

080 - Strawberry Shortcake

This is a much more wearable pink in comparison to Cupcake. It's just a little lighter than Cupcake so I would think that it can be worn on a day to day basis. This product goes on smoothly and effortlessly. The colour shows up on the first swipe and can be intensified with additional layers. The colour looks great even on my pigmented lips.

095 - Creme Brulee

Creme Brulee is the last colour that I had picked out and even though that it's a nude colour, (nude lipsticks are my favourite all time colour!) it's on the bottom of my list. Now don't get me wrong, it's still a very nice colour but it's just not as special as all the other colours from the Lip Butter series. Comparing to all the other colours, this one just fall short a little because it's so mundane for me. But I still love it and still pull this out to wear every other day.

I would say that there are 2 downsides to these lip butters. The first one is that they tend to transfer really easily. I guess it's because they are more of a balm-based and that's why they tend to glide off of the lips. So this means that you'll be spending more time reapplying the product more regularly. The second downside is that even though these have great moisture, they do not contain any SPF in them to protect your lips from the sun! L'oreal just came out with something similar to these, called Colour Riche Balm (just bought one a few days ago to test out!), which does contain SPF 15. Also, Maybelline Baby Lips also contain SPF 20 as well (I have also purchased 2 of these to test out). I feel like every drugstore brand is coming out with these balm/lipstick fusions all of the sudden!

What are your thoughts on these Lip Butters by Revlon?

RATING
Product (5/5)
Cost (5/5)
Ease of Use (5/5)
Packaging (5/5) - Perfect scores!

credit: revlon.com

PS, please excuse my nails, I'm doing them RIGHT now! :D

I was fortunate enough to walk away with some amazing goodies from that night. I promised that I would show you all what I got, so here you are! :D

What I took Home...

Time to look inside the huge Bench bag!

Wow wow! So much good stuff! It includes a Lomography analogue workshop, HMV digital gift-card, Skintimate moisturizing cream shave, some mint chocolate snowballs and a bag of Popchips.

What are Popchips? Think popped! Never fried. Never baked. Delicious, all-natural, healthier. that’s popchips. The flavour was Salt & Pepper. As you can tell, I couldn't resist opening it and trying it out during the photo-shoot! Salt & fresh ground pepper - the adam and eve of flavor without the guilt!

They also included a sample size of Lady Speed Stick Fresh Infusions (Strawberry Slash) and a QUATTRO FOR WOMEN® DISPOSABLES with Skintimate Raspberry Rain scented handles! I feel like these products are so HG for all women! Who doesn't want smooth legs and smells fresh? The Strawberry Slash Speed Stick smells just like strawberry candies! I love it!

It's so not cool to be smelly!

Included in the swag bag is the latest issue of Dress to Kill fashion magazine. Launched in 2008, Dress To Kill magazine is a Canadian fashion quarterly for women and men who are fashion savvy. They strive to bring innovative and creative fashion and beauty images to their readers by working with innovative talents who push the boundaries. Dress To Kill profiles the best in art, fashion, beauty, design and music of the moment.

Lastly and my favourite item, a Rainbow Watch in Flaming Orange. I've always been a huge fan of big jelly watches, I think I own about 3 pairs of jelly watches, so when I saw this in the bag I was ecstatic! It's really neat because you can design your own watch on the Rainbow Watch website and it only cost $25 per watch, so it's a really great deal! I can't wait to wear this out!

Thank you to all the sponsors!

From the band The Arkells to Muchmusic VJs Lauren Toyota, Jesse Giddings and Phoebe Dykstra, celebrities & industry people alike came out for a night of great music videos and great company.

MuchFACT is funded entirely by Much and MuchMore, divisions of Bell Media.

When: Thursday, December 15th, 2011
6:30-9:30 PM
Where: Century Room
580 King Street West
Toronto, ON, M5V 1M1

I had attended this event on the same day as the Bench Digital Accessories Launch, thus, I was wearing the same clothes! It was also great to have bumped into fellow Toronto bloggers, Sharad Mohan, over at Freshly Educated Men during that night. This was my first time going to Century Room and I must say, I'm super impressed with this venue! For those who follow my twitter would know that I started the first day of my final semester yesterday and after class, I decided to stop by Vaughan Mills to do some shopping with JL. I was originally going to just pick up 5 nail polish from American Apparel but I ended up getting a few more things.

So these are the 5 nail polishes that I picked up from AA. I had purchased one of those Teambuy coupons for American Apparel a few weeks ago. They had an American Apparel nail polish deal where you can get 5 bottles for only $15 CAD! That's amazing comparing to their retail price, which is $7/bottle or 3 for $18! I was so excited for the Neon colour nail polishes when I had first seen them on Sandra. So I picked up Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Supernova, Meteor Shower and Sunshine State. Can't wait to get these on my nails!

Then I went to Stylesense and I was sadden to see the "Store Closing" sign! ARGH! Stylesense is honestly one of my favourite stores of all time because they have a great selection of shoes, purses and accessories for great prices! (You can see some of my purchases from this store here and here.) It's the sister company of Winners and Marshalls. Thus, they are having an additional 20% off sale on all their merchandises! So I picked up these two sunglasses (Coach and Furla) for $49.99 and with an extra 20% off it came out to $45 each after taxes. That's such a steal!

Last stop we went to T&T because I needed to get new shampoo. The one that I was using by Matrix was making my hair super, duper dry! Honestly, the shampoo and conditioner that you use on a daily basis really makes a HUGE difference! Once I switch back to the Shiseido one, my hair was instantly better! Then I saw the Kose mask on sale so I had to grab those as well because my face has been so dry lately due to the cold weather. I use up a sheet almost every single day. Shiseido Suibun Aquair Moist Hair Pack $13.99 per bottle (shampoo & conditioner) and KOSE Clear Turn White with Collagen and with 12 Different Extracts $7.99/5 sheets. (Review of these products will be posted later)

Chicisimo is in its early stage, and it’s being built with the help and support from fashion bloggers and fashion lovers from Europe and the US. When a girl uploads a look, she tags it with the clothes and brands she is wearing. Then, that looks goes to the respective brand pages. Each brand has a page on Chicisimo, with the looks shared by users. That page provides an overview of how the community wears a specific brand. It’s the unofficial brand catalogue.

Free feel to get inspired by the fashionistas from all over the world. It's great because signing up is free and becoming "Top Fashionista" of the brands you wear the most is fun! I'm still getting the hang of Chicisimo and if please tell me if you have an account! I would love to follow you and become friends!

As another year begins and I reflect upon the last year, I feel blessed. 2011 had been a wonderful year filled with great joy and laughter. I have a beautiful family, a warm home and many friends who are wonderful. Not to mention that I have met some great people on the internet as well. I'm not sure what's going to happen in 2012 because there will be a lot of changes. Not only will I be graduated by April, but I'm not even sure if I'll still be in Toronto by the end of this year. Thus, you can definitely expect a lot of changes not only in my life but probably with this blog as well. A lot of people get impatient with the pace of change, but that's definitely not me. Change is inevitable but I want to prolong it for as long as I can.

(I may do a recap of 2011 just before midnight...maybe) As I mentioned in the last post, I'll be ringing in the new year at my boyfriend's house. Thus, I didn't need to dress up this year. We had just finished grocery shopping and will be cooking a nice dinner before cuddling to watch some TV and movies on his new 55" TV. (Let's hope it'll be set up by then). Anyways, 2012 is Coming! And before 2011 ends, let me thank all the good people, like you, who made 2011 so beautiful for me. These Rue 21 glasses were one of the item that I picked up in New York, which I had forgotten to include in the post. Don't they just remind you of Hello Kitty? I saw them when I was in line paying and quickly purchased them without even trying them on. That's what I call "love at first sight"! On another note, I can't believe it's already the 30th of December. I don't have anything special planned for New Years Eve this year because I just don't really feel for a celebration. I'm thinking about staying home, making dinner and cuddling inside a blanket with JL instead.

Even though I was just here a year ago, again with Ada, I could not help but be captured by this city all over again. I think there's just something magical about all the glittering lights from the billboards and the overall joy that just seeps out of the cracks. I especially love seeing myself on the Forever 21 billboard! Haha! I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Central Park due to a lack of time, but visiting Time Square and Wall Street was still worthwhile. We stopped out Woodbury and 2 other outlets again. Though it was around Boxing Day, the sale was still not as good this year and most of the products were not very . But I did score a new Marc by Marc Jacobs and Furla bag for pretty decent prices. Then a few things from Forever 21, Juicy Couture, Urban Outfitters, Nine West and Gap. I also picked up some accessories from Rue 21, but I had forgotten them in the photograph. Haha! Anyways, tell me about your Boxing Day adventures in the comments! I want to read all about it!

PS, for those who are wondering, Ada is actually my aunt visiting from Hong Kong.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and hope you all had a great time shopping on Boxing Day! Anyways, you may recognize the dress, it's from 2 years ago. It's also the dress that I'm wearing on my blog banner! It's probably one of my favourite dresses of all time because it's so versatile and the fact that my grandmother bought it for me. I can look like a fairy or a rock princess in it. The all black and light pink combo is definitely one of my favourite colour schemes of all time! I love it!

I'm spending Boxing day and 2 other days there for some crazy shopping adventures! I think it's almost become a tradition that I go to New York around this time of the year. Remember my post from last year?
