Today I'm going to share with you all an embarrassing moment of mine. It was actually really hard to narrow it down to just one because being the klutz that I am, embarrassing situations are rather common. But here goes...

This happen when I was in university, I believe it was sometime between my first to my second year. But remember when jeggings first came into the fashion scene? (For those who are unfamiliar with the term jeggings, it's just pretty much a fusion between a pair of jeans and leggings, you know those things that look like jeans but aren't?) But anyways, it was the last class during the day and a friend came up to me and said "Are you wearing your jeggings backwards?"

The first thing that came to mind was "NO WAY!" But then I looked down and indeed I was wearing them backwards! I guess I didn't flip them back when I took them out of the wash. And these jeggings looked so similar on the outside than they do on the inside. So this means that the tag was sticking out in the back and I hadn't noticed for the entire day! I could feel myself slowly turning red and sweating on the inside. And guess what I said with a smirk on my face? “They’re supposed to be like that! It's a new trend"

Ever been in a sweaty situation like mine? Well, here are two products that can keep you dry on the inside even when you're sweating on the outside!

Lady Speed Stick Power in Cool Breeze
So what it claims is to reduce underarm wetness and stay active for 24H and it goes on invisible. And it does what it claims:
-It does give protection from underarm sweat all day and more.
-It applies as a white kind of substance and looks like wet powder when applied. It isn't liquidy like some other deodorant products I've used.
-It doesn't transfer on to your clothes.
-I also love the scent of this product. It's called "Cool Breeze" but I think it smells more like very clean laundry.
-Comes with a plastic seal on top rather than it being just open like many others I've seen. I just feel like it ensures that the stick is more protected this way.

Lady Speed Stick Power in Fresh Fusion
This product pretty much has the same claims as the one above. However, this is in a gel formula and comes with 65g of product instead of the regular 45g.
-It's a gel formula so it goes on invisible
-The product gives a refreshing feel when apply because of the formula.
-This deodorant has a much stronger scent than the previous one, if you are like me and is rather picky about their scents, I would stick with the previous one
-Unlike the previous product, it doesn't come with the second cap. However, the first cap doesn't fall off that easily in the first place so your product should be nicely protected

I always get to fascinated to see the gel formula squeeze out of the tube. Haha! I don't know why! It looks so interesting, especially if it's new.

MY PERSONA BRACELET

I blogged about a week ago about my first experience with Persona. Now I want to showcase the bracelet that I got from the company. Everything came inside a bag, box and a little pouch that holds the bracelet securely in place. The bracelet is the small bracelet with barrel lock (17 cm), which fits perfectly on me. ($75 CAD)

Inspired by softly lit garden lanterns, this faceted apple coloured cubic zirconia sphere captures and reflects light beautifully as it hangs from a sterling silver shade. I love the green colour that's in this piece. It really resembles the idea of a green apple.

ENCHANTED ESCAPE ($55 CAD)
Exquisite in its design, shape and colour, Enchanted Escape is the ultimate representation of botanical beauty. This bead features an intricate sterling silver motif topped with bright stones and carved florals. This has to be my favourite piece. It's so exquisite and detailed! I'm a huge fan of anything with flowers on it, so this charm is perfect.

BLUE FUN IN THE SUN ($30 CAD)
Turquoise, bronze and yellow stripes come together on this glass bead bringing the warmth and fun of a day at the beach to life all year around. It's a very beautiful piece of jewelry, you really have to look deeply into it to see all the beautiful colours.

It looks so beautiful and delicate on my wrist. It's honestly the perfect gift for any women on your list. I really can't wait to get more charms and beads to fill up the entire bracelet! :)

The best part about this bracelet is the opening, which is a magnetic closure. This makes it very easy to put it on and to take it off by yourself. Does anyone else hate needing to get help to put on your jewelry all the time?

ANGELINA JOLIE, DOUBLE MASTECTOMY, CANCER PREVENTION

One of the most talked topics of this week is without a doubt, Angelina Jolie's double mastectomy surgery that was announced yesterday. In case you haven't heard the news, the 37-year-old actress announced in a New York Times op-ed article on Tuesday that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy after learning that she carries a mutation of the BRCA1 gene, which sharply increases her risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. By doing this surgery, she supposedly cut down her chances of getting cancer from 87% to under 5%.

While I applaud her for undergoing this surgery for the sake of her children, but now some experts are saying that she may also be stoking a deep-seated fear of cancer in less susceptible-women, driving them to seek unnecessary medical attention and causing undue anxiety about a disease that strikes terror. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here because frankly speaking, if Death is knocking on your door, you really can't stop it from coming. It's the truth and I think Hamlet says it best: conscience does make cowards of us all. But I think what's important and which is why I've decided to write this post, is to live a healthy life-style. You can spent your entire life trying to prolong your days without really living. So instead of looking for the next medical break-through, why not just do something as simple as changing your diet to something that's more healthy. I am no medical expert, but I have gathered a list of foods for cancer prevention, which I actually really enjoying eating.

Berries
Of all the fruits and vegetables studied, berries rank among the most likely to reduce cancer risk and luckily it's also my favourite kinds of fruits. Raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries in particular have shown very promising potential to help prevent cancer. Next time you want a sweet treat, skip the cookies and feast on juicy, delicious berries that can boost your health.

Sweet potatoes
This is my personal favourite because I love eating sweet potatoes. I'm really fortunate that there's a supermarket really close to my work that sells fresh/warm sweet potatoes everyday. Beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant. Among premenopausal women, one study found that eating a lot of vegetables that include beta-carotene, folate, vitamin C, and fiber – like sweet potatoes — reduced the risk of breast cancer by about half.

Tea
In Japan, where tea is the preferred beverage, green tea consumption has been linked to reduced risk of stomach cancer among women. In China, green tea drinkers were found to have a lower risk of developing rectal and pancreatic cancers compared with non-tea drinkers. I always try to keep some green tea bags around the house or at the workplace. This allows me to drink at least a few cups of green tea in a day.

Cruciferous vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage contain phytonutrients known as glucosinolates, which may help inhibit the metabolism of some carcinogens and stimulate the body's production of detoxification enzymes. Surprisingly, I'm a huge fan of broccoli ever since I was little. My mother would always steam a cupful of broccoli for me on a regular basis and now, I enjoy it so much.

I know that sometimes it's difficult to eat healthy, especially when we are fighting off our cravings. Don't expect to completely cut off your junk food right away, but instead take it step by step and day by day. If you really cannot stand the mundane taste of some vegetables, try taking my high school Food and Nutrition teacher's advice: all food have potential to taste great, you just have to find the right receipt for it ;)

WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT

I've always been a huge fan of cleansing oils! I love light-weight cleansing oil even more and this one by Shiseido is just perfect! It's definitely one of the cheaper cleansing oil that's by a more popular brand. I bought mine from T&T supermarket in Toronto for around $17.99. It gently dissolves my makeup or any traces of dirt. It smells really great and my face makeup literally just melts off of my face. It's gentle and effective at eye makeup as well (even though I still use another makeup remover for my eye makeup).

I always prefer to use a cleansing oil to remove my makeup just because it's more moisturizing for my skin. Especially now that my skin is more dry than before, a cleansing oil really makes all the difference. This one is definitely on the top of my list at the moment. (Here are some cleansing oils that I've tried in the past: Bobbi Brown, Origin (I have not reviewed this product - but it's okay because it has a thicker consistency, which I don't really like), Dr. Morita). Any other cleansing oil that's worth trying? I've heard great stuff about Fancl and also DNC.

I'm always in search for rings. More specifically, I'm always looking for rings that fit my small fingers. For those who have been a long-time follower of mine might remember me talking about the problem with my tiny fingers here & here. Basically, I can never find rings that fit properly without falling off. When I read Andrea's Fashion Dose's post here about hardware store equipment that can be turned into rings, I quickly made a stop there over the weekend. And to my surprise, I found the perfect sleeves and tubes that were great finger accessories. Not only do they fir my tiny fingers, but it cost me less than a $5. (I also have a store credit for the store). In case you're wondering, the gold rings are called compression sleeves (they come in various of sizes) and the brass tubes are from the plumbing section. So if you are in search for some new accessories, I highly suggest checking out your local hardware store to find some inspirations.

It took me a really long time to find a pair of military denim. Not because they were hard to find or anything, but I wasn't willing to spurge on an expensive pair. Trends come and go, thus, I don't see the need to empty out my wallet for a pair of camo jeans. Luckily, when I went inside my local Walmart last week, I spotted this little number for a mere $22. The fitting and cutting are surprisingly flattering and so it now has a spot in my ever-growing, ever-expending closet.

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with the concepts of monthly beauty boxes, thus, I don't have the pressing need to explain in detail the idea. But for those who are unfamiliar, basically GlossyBox Canada is a monthly subscription, where you pay around $21 a month to discover five deluxe-sized beauty products, hand-selected from fabulous brands. Of course, if you subscribe to them for a year, you'll get more discount. This is actually my first time experiencing these beauty boxes and I'm pretty content. (You can sign up here)

First of all, I really do enjoy the packaging. It's double wrapped in two separate boxes. And the box inside is also very hard and sturdy, which means that the products will not get damaged during the shipping process. It's also really good that the packaging is pretty enough that I'm willing to reuse it for storage.

When you open it up, this is what I see. This month's Glossybox's theme is Work That Beauty. The box was also curated by Canadian Olympic medalist, Tracy Little.

Here's the closeup shot of all the items inside the box. As you can see, they are all nicely and safely wrapped. Nothing can really move around in the box because of all the paper. It's definitely secure.

The first thing that caught my eyes is this Shick Hydro Silk Razor (because it is the biggest product) and all the coupons that are inside. The razor that gives back moisture and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. It's dermatologist tested and full size. It arrives just in time for the Spring season, since I'll be bearing my legs more as the temperature gets warmer. A great shave is definitely essential for this time of the year. ($10.99 each)

The next product is this Epsom Salts in Soft Mint by Heartland Fragrances. First of all, the colour is really pretty! I'm a huge fan of minty-blues and this is just up my alley. This product will not only soften skin but it'll also relieve tired, achy muscles as well. There is no better feeling than getting into a warm salt bath after a long, hard day workouts. Especially now that I have started softball again. (30oz / $10.10)

I have never tried anything from Boscia before but I have only heard great things. This Recharging Night Moisture is a concentrated moisturizer that works overnight to repair, strengthens and improve skin's elasticity and firmness. It's preservative-free and dermatologist tested. This product is also full size. The product is very thick and thus, perfect for my current dry skin. (40ml / $44.00)

This Moisturizing Lip Blush by Jelly Pong Pong is something that is completely new to me. I have tried jumbo lipstick pencils before but not from this brand. Surprisingly, it's extremely pigmented and moisturizing. It's a lip stain that tints your lips with just the right amount of juicy colour and hydration. Free from sulfates, pthalates, triclosan, ammonia, alcohol and any animal by products. The fact that it's shaped like a pencil, makes it easy to apply and line up my lips. I'm hoping to carry this around with me on a regular basis and incorporate it into my spring wardrobes. (2.5g / $18.70)

An eyeliner by Pop Beauty Glitz Blitz in Wine Wink is a smudge-free, glitzy eyeliner that has the intensity of a liquid liner but the easy application of a pencil. It's waterproof and full-size. This is actually the product that I'm the most disappointed about because it's not easy to apply at all nor is it waterproof. I would definitely not pay full price for this product even though the idea of it is really good. (0.27g / $15.00)

Last but not least, I received a coupon for redeeming the new 0% Silhouette Greek Stirred yogurt contains no added sugar with 50 calories, while still offering all the goodness of a high protein Greek yogurt. This perfect snack, with its deliciously thick and creamy texture, is the perfect blend of pleasure and health. I actually really like Greek yogurt so I'm very happy about this.

Sunglasses aren't just for summer you know? The sun is shining outside, so why not wear them during the Spring as well? So for this year, forget about the traditional black frames, think bolder and with more colours! I have seen a lot of over-sized and unique frames on the Spring 2013 runway that has gotten me thinking about getting some new sunglasses. I'm back! :) Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement in my previous post. The inspection at my school went perfectly and I'm super relieved right now. On another note, as spring approaches, it also means that wedding season is just around the corner. I'll be attending my first wedding of 2013 tomorrow. No I'm not going on vacation nor am I sick or anything, but I just need some time to focus on my job right now. The school that I teach at is going through inspection by the Ministry of Education, so that means there is a lot of paper work that I need to finish up. And the inspection date got moved up! (Super stressed about that!) So it's going to be OT every single night until Thursday and someone should just inject caffeine into my bloodstream. I won't be gone for too long, but probably will not update here until the end of this week. [FASHION MAGAZINE] - BEAUTY PANEL #7: COACHELLA MAKEUP TUTORIAL

When I think of a music festival like Coachella, three things instantly comes to mind: large crowds, sweating bodies and partying all day long. This means that my makeup needs to be comfortable and lasts even after the sun has set. I can't stand being in the hot sun and the feeling when my makeup literally melts off of my face. So my aim for this look is to not only keep it natural but to make it foolproof for the entire event.

The first thing is sun-protection! If you opt out on wearing sun screen, this can result in really nasty burns in the end. It's called the most important rule of all for a reason! Wear your sunscreen! I personally prefer something that has a higher SPF so this sunscreen by Neutrogena with SPF 60 is perfect for me. Not to mention that it's really suitable for the face because it's not oily at all.

Next step is to prime! Here I'm using my favourite primer by Givenchy. It mattifies my skin and ensures that my makeup will stay put. I don't want to be sweating and have heavy face makeup. So I decide to skip out on foundation this time and opt for this Hydreane bb cream by La Roche Posay because it's much more lightweight than a foundation. Now, if you are like me and need the extra coverage, I suggest using your favourite concealer to dot on those imperfections.

My eyes are very simple. I combine an Essence 3D Duo eye shadow and a brown pencil for lining my eyes. The false lashes in this look are very short, thus, making them not as heavy and more natural. I added a natural coloured blush on my cheeks just for an extra glow. I choose to use a tinted lip-balm with SPF instead of a lipstick because not only will it keeps my lips from drying out but I also need something that will not be as noticeable when it fades (I'll probably be eating and drinking throughout the day). Finally to finish the look off, I use some shimmering body powder to "shine bright like a diamond".

WHY I LIKE THIS PRODUCT
If you really know me, you'll know that I'm not a fan of false nails. I always find that they are a pain to maintain and not too mention costly. I would much rather spent my money on something else. Plus, I think my natural nails are okay on their own, so I never see the need to use fake nails. Seriously, it's just not really my thing. However, when I had received these false nails from imPRESS, I was really excited to try them out because a) they were this amazing hot pink colour and b) they do not require any glue!

What I Liked:
-very easy to apply and to remove
-quick to complete manicure: no drying time required
-didnt harm my nails even after removal
-unique and vibrant colours

What I Didn't Like:
-lasted for only a week before the first nail came off
-fake nails can get tangled with my long hair: making it hard for me to shampoo

[FASHION MAGAZINE] - BEAUTY PANEL #6: FOOLPROOF TRICK FOR APPLYING FALSE LASHES

If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then your eyelashes are definitely the draperies that enhances them. Unfortunately, I naturally have very short and stubby lashes that looks the same even with multiple coats of mascara. Thus, you can probably imagine how reliant I have become on my falsies over the years. Aside from my foundation, I cannot live without my false lashes. If it's your first time applying false lashes or if you are just a beginner, there are 4 simple suggestions that I can offer:

1) Invest in a good eyelash adhesive! I have tried quite my share of eyelash glues and I always end up going back to this one by Shu Uemura. It's the only one that I can rely on to not budge for the entire day. Yes, it's a bit pricey but I guarantee that you'll not regret it when your lashes stays in place for the whole day. Plus, a tube of this can last me for a long time. It applies white but dries clear.
2) After applying a layer of glue to your false lashes, make sure you wait for around 10 seconds for the glue to dry a little. This will make sure that the lashes will apply to your lid without any problems and it will cut down the time it'll take for the lashes to adhere to your lids. You can hold them with a small pair of tweezers to secure them.

3) While your glue is drying, you should bend your full set of lashes a little bit in order for it to fit nicely to the shape of your eye. (Refer to the photo) Sometimes I find that the bands of the lashes can become stiff over time. Therefore, bending them will loosen them a bit to ensure that the do not peel out during the day.
4) Lastly, though it's more time consuming, you can cut the falsies in half to create 2 pieces and then apply them separately. I like using a small pair of curved scissors for this because it allows you to cut closer to each strand of hair. This is a really neat trick for beginners because you'll have more control over where the pieces are being placed.

JACKET CHOICES FOR SPRING

This season, the runway is showcasing a wide range of chic, ladylike and originally styled jackets; designers are introducing various colours, shapes and fabrics to the mix in order to create something fresh, funky and most importantly, wearable.

Styles to watch out for:
Among the most current styles of this season, there are both a variety of straight and sports styles, many of which have been created in short and medium lengths. As well as a number of fitted jackets, there is certainly a style to suit all.

Timeless classic
The denim jacket is one style that is making a comeback for 2013. Similar to the bomber jacket, the classic silhouette of the timeless denim jacket never seems to age, and once again, it is proving to be a wardrobe staple for spring and summer. Double denim looks are still appealing to the masses, regardless of whether you opt for shorts and a shirt or jeans and a waistcoat.

The beauty of the denim jacket is its versatility; you can dress it up or down. Many models were seen sporting the denim look layered over an otherwise classy ensemble, which instantly adds a hit of street flair. Sleeves up! Shortened sleeves teamed with a lengthy coat create an elegant and romantic silhouette and this cut has become one of the predominant styles of this season. When the weather is a little cooler, simply add a pair of fashionably long gloves to the ensemble to finish it off and keep you warm and toasty.

Volume
Volume is rapidly proving to be another key trend this season. Think over-the-top fur collars, solid fabrics and glittering embellishments. The military style has certainly undergone a chic transformation with the addition of jewelled shoulder pads and statement zip adornments.

Animal instinct
Fur jackets have always been adored by women: due to this reason alone, they appear in the collections of virtually every designer. From smooth and fluffy fur styles to overly dramatic visions combining a multitude of fur elements, these jackets make it quite possible to stay stylishly warm this season.
