ATHLETICS

Mood [Okay]
Currently Playing [None]

A few weeks ago, this little number arrived at my door steps. Thank you Go-Jane for sending this beautiful top to me that is so suiting for the current season. GoJane.com is an Internet retailer of fashion forward apparel for progressive young women. The top is sheer greatness! Or, to be more accurate, semi-sheer greatness. Semantics aside, this semi-sheer top features a high-low hem, two front pockets, button-up closure, and a dainty collar. I love pairing up opposite trends together in the same outfit. Such as pairing this top and a Jason Wu x Target skirt with a stadium sweater and some Converse. Sometimes opposites do attract.

Go-Jane neon top, H&M sweater, Jason Wu x Target skirt, Converse sneakers, American Apparel socks, from Pacific Mall purse, from Ebay fox tail, Charlotte Russe necklace

I have actually been a customer of Go-Jane for quite some time now. I remember purchasing my first pair of shoes from there back in 2009. Here are some of my favourite pieces that are being sold at Go-Jane:

Check out their store here!

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. Today I'm going to blog about something different and it is something that I haven't blogged about before on this blog. There's a Confession of a Shoeaholic tag that is going around on Youtube at the moment and I decided that I'll also participate in it as well! I thought it would be fun and a good way for you to get to know me a little better! Tell me if you guys enjoy these tag posts and I'll do more in the future! Without further ado, here are the questions for the Confession of a Shoeaholic Tag!

1. Heels or Flats?
I think deep down, I'm definitely a heels type of girl because I have more heels than flats in my collection. However for practical reasons, I do wear flats more than heels on a daily basis. Flats are more comfy and JL really hates it when I wear heels!

2. What are your go-to shoes?

Converses! I own around 8 different pairs of Converses because I always buy one or two pairs every time I go back to Hong Kong. They are a LOT cheaper there than in North America. JL is also a huge fan of Converses, so he had purchased a few pairs (the personalized pair with my name on them) for me as well. Thus, I ended up with a huge collection of Chucks. These 4 pairs are my favourite just because I can match them with almost any outfits!

3. What's your favorite shoe trend at the moment?

My favourite shoe trend at the moment has to be the creeper wedges. I've always wanted a pair of creepers and ever since Burberry Fall 2011 introduced the world to creeper platforms, they have been the latest craze! They have been appearing all over the fashion blog-o-sphere! Of course, I can't spurge on the Burberry ones ($800 USD), I satisfied my cravings with these Jeffrey Campbell ones instead (Less than $100 USD). I also really like the platform heels because they make your legs look super slim! ;)

4. What's your least favavorite shoe trend?
None at the moment. It's really hard to find a trend/style that I truly dislike.

5. What's your most expensive shoe?

My most expensive pair of shoes are probably this pair of Burberry boots. I bought them two years ago when I visited Woodbury Outlet in New York. The Burburry store was doing a crazy clearance, and I got these boots for only $100 USD. I'm not a huge spender, so $100 for a pair of boots is already a LOT for me!

6. What are your most wanted pair?

Isabel Marant's heel wedge sneakers! (Photo credit: theblondesalad.com)

7. What's your most embarrassing shoe story?
Too many! Being the ditz that I am, I trip and fall almost all the time! Haha! So whether I'm in heels or flats, I'll usually end up slipping somewhere. //Sigh// Yeah, I'm kinda embarrassing like that, which is probably why I have no shame anymore :P

8. Pick a shoe and share a story.

I had purchase this of sandals from Aldo last summer because they had reminded me a lot of the Prada crystal shoes. Plus, they were on sale for around $13. But they are so painful to walk in! I would have never imagined this because the heels are only 1 inch! The plastic part of the shoes is really tight against my feet and when I worn them in Hong Kong, they scratched the skin really badly! I had to put, no jokes, 3 bandages on each foot to prevent the scratching! It was so embarrassing when I was walking around with so many bandages on my foot! Haha!

9. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
I want to say 50, but I have a feeling it's just a little over that number at this point.

10. When was the first time you wore heels?
The first time I wore heels was during my grade 6 graduation. I remember I bought a pair of black-strapped heels from Payless. I also remember that my Mom was freaking out because it was a 2.5 inch heels and she was worried that I won't be able to walk in them! Haha! Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember I almost slipped when I walked up to receive my diploma. Plus, my feet killed afterwards.

11. How much do you spend on shoes?
To be honest, not a lot. Like I had mentioned before, I'm not a huge spender. I can't be because I'm still a student! So I always try to catch a sale before I purchase anything. (This applies to clothing as well) I think I spent less than $50 on shoes every month. Unless of course I had save up previously for a spurge purchase! :D

12. Where are your favorite places to buy shoes?

Spring but only the online store and not the actual store. They are a sister company to Aldo and Little Burgundy. They always have some 50% off sale and free shipping over $49. Sometimes they'll have free shipping promotion as well. Some of their styles are very similar to Aldo's, which is of course copying designers. You'll also be surprise to know that some of my most comfortable heels that I wear to work were purchased from there. The above wedges were purchased from Spring for only $15!

13. Do you have a pair of shoes you regret purchasing?

I bought these from Forever 21 probably two years ago. They are still brand new and that's because they are the most UNCOMFORTABLE pair of heels EVER! They are not only a pain to get on because of all the straps but they are SO uncomfortable to walk in. I have never even worn them out because I tried walking around my house with them before just to test them out, and my feet were already sore afterwards. Luckily, they were on sale.

14. Show your favorite pair of shoes.

These Sam Edelman Zoe booties are my favourite pair of shoes! I got them from the Petite Feet Sale in Toronto and they were sponsored to me. Now, they aren't the most comfortable pair of booties, but they are so edgy! I especially love the harness details that I just can't pass it up.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this tag post! (Rica, Joyce and Michele) We went to the Target that's close to the border and when we arrived at 10am, most of the Jason Wu products were already sold out! Super bummed about that! There were no more accessories and dresses left! I had really wanted his dresses because his designs are so fresh and clean, but couldn't get my hands on them. I only picked up these two pieces from the collection and it just so happen that they are both blue in colour.

Jason Wu x Target blouse with tie in navy dots and pleated skirt in navy floral skirt

Then I picked up these items from the rest of the trip. I got really lazy so I took these photos on my floor instead of inside my light box. Thus, they are a bit yellow in color because of the floor. Sorry ~

I bought some Revlon nail polishes because they are cheaper in the States. Then a Givenchy Mister Mat foundation primer from Sephora, E.L.F blush and mattifying powder, E.L.F eyelid primer, the neon bag (I've worn it here) and flats are from Target and the polo is from Ralph Lauren.

Some necklaces from Charlotte Russe! And then we found this amazing bling bling mirror!

It even comes with lights!! So that means I can look at myself even in the dark! Haha! *Conceited* LOL!

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. I couldn't sleep past 10am today, which I would consider to be sleeping it already. I spend the day lounging around at home with my parents and catch up on some family TV time, which we haven't had in a really long time. Then my mom decided to take a "nap" that lasted until dinner time. Haha! My fur collar from ASOS finally arrived in the mail. I had been eyeing this for a really long time now just because it's such a unique colour. I also saw it on fellow fashion blogger, Suzi, and it was instant love. It's also currently on sale on ASOS for only $8.

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. The revolutionary hand-held, battery-operated device has a biocompatible treatment tip that heats to a pre-set temperature and destroys the acne causing bacteria.
-Blemish clearing
-For all skin types
-100% natural
-Safe and gentle for daily use
-Dermatologist recommended
-80 uses

FOR BEST RESULT
Step 1. Press the power button. The power indicator will light up & you will hear a tone to signal the treatment has started.
Step 2. Place and hold tip on your blemish for 2.5 minute treatment cycle. You will hear a single tone every 30 seconds.
Step 3. Remove Zeno from blemish when you hear a multi-tone sound, indicating the treatment is over.

If necessary, treat the same pimple again within 4-12 hours and then a third time 4-12 hours later.

INGREDIENTS
(unavailable)

WHY YOU SHOULD SKIP THIS PRODUCT

This is also one of those products that I had dread to review up until now, mainly because it's one of those items that I would never re-purchase again. I remember being so excited about trying this product out when it had first appeared in my local drugstore. I quickly purchased it without even thinking twice because it sounded very promising. However, it was just a waste of $50.

As you know, my battle with acne has been a long and tedious one. I hoped this product would really help my adult acne. What Zeno did do, for what it's worth, is bring down the swelling for a while after each use. After use, the spot is (temporarily) flatter and hurts less. But the results never seemed to last. Overall it is really time consuming. This is because you have to stand there with the head in contact with the acne spot for the 2.5 minutes. Plus, one treatment is usually not enough and if you have more than one pimple on your face, it can take quite some time.

The heat sensation varies from time to time. At first I had thought that it was because of the battery life, however, even when I switched to a brand new battery, it still varies in the degree to hotness from treatment to treatment. I found that to be really strange. I have also heard that the heat can actually cause scarring. Not sure how true this calm is because I didn't encounter this problem. Also, it drains so much battery. Even when I used rechargeable batteries with this product, it was still only good for 2 days or so before I have to charge the batteries again. This really annoyed me greatly.

The product cost about $50 but it only last for around 80 times as advertised. However, I purposely kept track of how many times I have used the product before it stopped working. I calculated that it only lasted for 54 uses before I had to throw the entire thing into the garbage. So do some math, it's around $1 per use, which can add up to quite a lot. I do admit that it has a very nice design and packaging, which makes it very easy to carry around. But that's about the only thing that the Zeno Hot Spot has going for it.

RATING
Product (0/5)
Cost (1/5)
Ease of Use (3/5) - Very time consuming
Packaging (5/5)

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. This eyelash fix can be used for normal false lashes or partial lashes for specific purposes. It is blended with lipid and rose essence which is mild and gentle to skin.

FOR BEST RESULT
1. Take appropriate amount and glide it onto the false lash, make sure the two ended of the lash are also covered.
2. You can apply the false lash when the adhesive is semi-dry.

INGREDIENTS
Contains plant type Ceramide and Rose extract to provide moisture to prevent your eyelids from getting irritations.

WHY YOU SHOULD SKIP THIS PRODUCT
Yes, you read correct. I'm suggest you to please skip this product. //Sigh// I was really disappointed when I started to use this glue last summer and thus, have put off the review until now. Now, let me begin to explain why I think there are better alternative glues on the market. It's not a bad eyelash fix, but it's definitely not the best that I have used. And for the price, you can definitely get better glue.

First, even though the packaging is the CUTEST thing of all time, but I absolutely hate the applicator! I think maybe cause I'm so use to the tub applicator, that I actually find the brush to be really, really annoying. It just doesn't allow enough glue to be placed on the false lashes properly. The brush is just too soft and doesn't distribute the glue evenly. Plus, the glue is very watery so it doesn't make it any easier.

Second, the glue is not very long lasting. By mid-day, I always find the the ends of my false lashes will start to come off. It got so annoying at one point that I had to carry this glue with me just for touch up. I guess this can be see as a good thing to some people because it will be easy to take off. Thus, less harmful for your skin. However, I just find it really annoying because the point of an eyelash fix is to ensure that your lashes stay in place! My favourite eyelash glue of all time is still the one by Shu Uemura. I have also tried Duo eyelash fix before, but I still like the one by Shu Uemura better. You can read my comparisons between these two eyelash glues here.

Now there are some good things about this glue. It dries really, really quickly! Much quicker than most eyelash glues that I have tried previously. Plus, even though the glue is white in colour, it dries clear. So it disappears after a few minutes. However, of course these pros about the glue is still not sufficient to make this glue an HG (Holy Grail) item for me. Also, it's really hard to find this glue in North America, besides maybe ordering it online or purchasing it from an Asian store. So I would just save my money and buy the Shu Uemura one for the same price.

RATING
Product (2/5) - Points for being very quick to dry
Cost (3/5) - It's around $11-$15 on Ebay, which is the same price as the one by Shu Uemura
Ease of Use (3/5) - I do not like the applicator
Packaging (5/5) - Very cute!

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. (I blogged about it here) I couldn't resist taking it out right away and coordinating it into my outfit. As you may recall, I had ordered the bag back in December and when I didn't receive it last month, I thought it was a goner. However, it arrived at my door steps a few days ago and left me speechless. I had a really hard time debating on which colour to order because there were just too many colour choices! I narrowed it down to a few of the brighter colours just because the Spring and Summer seasons are quickly approaching. And I later settled on orange solely because I don't recall owning an orange purse. I have already received so many compliments on the first day of taking it out just because the purse itself was so unique. I love it!

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. Bold colour is taking center stage for this season. Get ready to be shocked by the attention-getting neon brights that are a throwback to some 80's fun. Expect to see anything from neon yellow to hot pink to vicious red with a modern twist through minimalistic and clean lines. If you do not want to go overboard with the colours, you can simply add a pop of glow to your outfit through small accessories and details. Much similar to how I added this neon bag to the outfit. Are you enjoying this trend as well or is it too much?

PS, don't forget to enter my Too Faced Naked Palette giveaway which ends on March 11. He gave me this list of products and along with a little blurb that he approved to use for anyone who has acne. I found it so surprising that some of the products and brands that are recommend by a dermatologist were the ones that I often overlook. I also thought that these products would be super expensive since they were recommended by a doctor. However, brands like Almay and Cetaphil are pretty affordable and they are mentioned quite a few times on the list. I am also happy that some items that I am currently using also made the cut. Thus, I thought I would share this list with you all so that you can start using products that will not worsen your skin or acne.

Cleansers
Harsh soaps do little for acne. The following is a list of gentle cleansers that you can use. These allow you to use your medications with less discomfort:
-Dove soap
-Spectro Jel or Spectro Derm (Only available in Canada)
-Avene Clean-Ac Cleanser
-Cetaphil Lotion
-CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Moisturizer
Moisturizers do nothing to prevent wrinkles. Overuse can make your acne respond poorly to the medications. For this reason, you should use moisturizer only when needed. if your skin looks dry or flaky, and you have to look your best that day, then use one of the moisturizers below:
-Complex 15 Cream
-Avene Clean-Ac
-Impruv Cream
-Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, Daily Advance Lotion or Cream
-Cetraben Cream
-CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

*Note: I don't know if I completely agree with the dermatologist when he said that moisturizers do nothing to prevent wrinkles. That really scares me to think that there's nothing that I can do to prevent aging. However, he is the doctor after-all.

Foundation
Use a foundation that has non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic or will not clog pores on the label. If you are not sure, use one of the foundations below:
-Almay Foundation
-Estee Launder Foundation
-Lancome Foundation
-MAC
-Marcelle Founation
(If you want to use a loose powder, you can use any brand that you want. Do not use any compacts or pressed powders, but stick with mineral)

These are my two favourite foundations at the moment and they are both non-comedogenic. Not only do they have great coverage but they also keep my skin matte throughout the day.

Lancome Paris Teint Idole Ultra in Bisque 2 (C)

14-hour ultra-resistant makeup delivers flawless, full-coverage that lasts. The retouch-free, oil-free formula features Lancôme’s SoftFeel™ technology glides on to comfort skin with flawless full coverage. Divine comfort leaves skin feeling soft, comfortable and silky-smooth hour after hour.

Biotherm Matte Pur in 120

Natural coverage, not cakey and chalkey like. Goes on natural, smooth and last for more than 8 hours.

Blush
You can use any pink or peach eye shadow as a blush because eye shadows do not contain chemicals that can make acne worse. But if you really want to use a blush, use one of the blushes below:
-Almay Blush
-Dormer Blush

Sunscreen
-Ombrelle Sunscreen SPF 30 to 60 or Face Stick
-Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 45, 55, or Facial 60 or 70 Sunblock
-La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 30 or 60

My two favourite sunscreen for my face and for my body. I love these two so much because no only do they have a high SPF but they also have a non-greasy formula! I absolutely hate sunscreen that leaves a greasy-feel! And I can attest that these will not do that! I highly recommend these!

Did you find anything that you use regularly on this dermatologist's approved products list? Yes, I was camwhoring that early in the morning! Haha! Last Sunday, we (Joyce, Rica, Michele and I) went on a road trip to Buffalo, New York. We had two purposes for the trip: 1) the launch of Jason Wu x Target, 2) to celebrate Rica's birthday! We planned to start heading down to the States at around 6 in the morning, so it was extremely, extremely early!

The sun wasn't even out when we started our trip. We were joking around and said that it was sorta romantic that we can all watch the sun rise together. Haha! It's rather cute ~

We arrived at Target, but most of the Jason Wu products were gone already by 9am! We were so bummed that we weren't able to get any of the purses and dresses! So bummed about that! So we went straight to the cosmetics section! Haha! Go figure! So happy that they sell ELF products! It's such a pain to order them from the site and then have them shipped to Canada!

Joyce and her gigantic heart pillow! It's very, very her! I wish there was space in my room for that!

The birthday girl and I

The birthday girl and Michele

The birthday girl and Joyce

For lunch, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory. Being a HUGE Big Bang Theory fan, it was so cool to visit Penny's workplace. But as predicted, it was very different from the actual show.

The environment

One of the only group shots that we had from the entire day! It had a very unique taste like nothing that I've had before. I would definitely order it again and highly recommend this dish.

PS, haul post will come next! I haven't gotten the chance to take a photo yet!
PPS, today is the SECOND ANNIVERSARY of THISWASFOREVER! Can you believe that it's been two years also since I started this blog? With everything in the collection priced under $60, it seems that soon everyone will be able to afford a little piece of Wu to call their own as well. The collection is so simple, chic and pure genius! All these pieces would be a great add to wardrobe for teaching. I love road trips and it's going to be my very first one taken with just friends! This means that I'll have to wake up at 4:15am tomorrow for the drive down to the States. But right now, I must get some beauty sleep! And I thought how great it would be for me to blog about it as well so that I can not only teach her about some makeup basics but I can also teach some of you. This guide goes hand-in-hand with the products that I had purchased for her. Now, this list of items are by no means definite. There are other great dupes and beginner products out in the market, but I just find these to work great for me. I also find these products to be very affordable and thus, suitable for makeup beginners.

*Note, I'm not a makeup artist. I'm merely sharing my experience with you. If you have any more inputs on great products for beginner, feel free to leave a comment at the end of the post ~

The Makeup Bag

Of course, this is essential. You cannot have a makeup kit without a makeup bag to put all your makeup in. I usually prefer to have a medium-size to large-size makeup bag to carry around with me because I carry a LOT of stuff for touch-up purposes. So I decided to throw in this medium-sized floral patterned makeup bag for Florence. It's just the perfect size and the outer layer is plastic, so you don' have to worry about it getting wet in the bathroom. ($2.99 from Forever21)

Makeup Brushes

What's a makeup kit without makeup tools? These 4 are my vital brushes that I absolutely NEED to have in my kit. They include the Face Brush, Blush/Bronzer Brush, Eyeshadow Flat Brush and a Blending Blush. I feel that these 4 brushes are the ones that I use on a daily basis and thus, they are essentials! The names of each brush pretty much explains their function and purpose so I don't feel the need to go into greater details. If I go on vacation and can only take a limited amount of brushes with me, I'm grabbing these 4 for sure! Now, you don't have to purchase E.L.F brushes, there are a lot of alternatives/dupes out there such as Sigma, Bdellium Tools, MAC, and so on. However, why I had chosen to get E.L.F brushes is because they are a LOT more affordable (roughly $2) and their qualities are NOT too shabby for beginners. Thus, I would highly recommend these for makeup starters. When you get more professional, then you can switch to other alternatives and spent more money on tools. ($1.50 each from Dollarama)

A Foundation

Having good skin is every girl's dream! Thus, I feel like you cannot skip out on foundation. Okay, unless you are very very very fortunate and blessed to have flawless skin. But if you are like me, then foundation is your best friend! For beginners, I would recommend a powder foundation first just because I feel that liquid are a lot more difficult to work with. Plus, if you do not have the proper application, then you can look very very "cakey". I would also look for a mineral powder because they are much better for your skin and there will be less chances of a breakout. The one that I had included in this kit is one by Wet n' Wild. Now there are tons of alternatives (Physician Formula is a good one!) out in the market, so you don't necessarily have to purchase this brand. A powder foundation may not be able to completely hide all your blemishes or imperfections, but it'll be sufficient to get rid of shiny spots and redness. ($3.99 from Walmart)

Directions: You can easily apply this all over your face with the total face brush mentioned above.

An Eyeshadow Primer

Here I have included two different ways to prime your eyelids before applying eyeshadows. I REALLY REALLY wished that when I had first started makeup, someone had included these products to me! Then it would have solved a LOT of my problems that I had with creasing. This is where I would spent my money on. Like a blank canvas, your eyelids also need a good primer to ensure that the eyeshadows stay vibrant all day long and to prevent the colours from creasing. One product that I highly, highly, recommend is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I always go back to this and have not find any other primers that compares. Another method to prime your eyes is with an eye crayon. I had included this black colour one from NARS that would work as a great base for darker eye shadow looks (NYX also have more affordable eye crayons as well). (Both of these are sample sizes from Sephora)

Directions: Simply apply the both of these on your lids and smooth out before applying your shadows.

Eyeshadow Palette

For beginners, I would highly recommend getting an eyeshadow palette from your local drugstore because A) they are more affordable, B) they offer great colour choices than a single shadow and C) drugstore brands have been pushing out some AMAZING shadows in the recent years. The one that I had purchased for Florence is a Rimmel Trio (621 Orion). What I really liked about Rimmel eyeshadows is that they offer great colour choices and great quality. Plus, if you catch a sale, you can easily get a quad/trio for $5. Like most drugstore palettes, Rimmel have also included a little instruction sticker on the back of the palette. This is SOOOOOO useful if you are just starting out with makeup because it tells you directly where to apply each colour. Easy and affordable! Some other drugstore eyeshadow brands that I would recommend are Maybelline and L'oreal. ($5 from Shoppers Drug Mart)

Now, I chose a neutral palette for Florence just because they are great for an everyday look without being too dramatic and unnatural. If you are not familiar with colours or not sure how bright colours with look on you, then I would suggest getting a neutral palette because they work great with any coloured eyes and lips. Thus, less colour matching is required. If you are willing to spurge, then the Urban Decay Naked Palette 1 or 2 will be perfect for you.

Blush

What's a face without some glow? Blush, I feel is also vital in a makeup kit. it gives your face that extra "sweetness" that it needs. I included this Wet n' Wild Face Illuminator (341 Blushing) just because it has 2 functions. It can work as a brush and as a highlighter on your cheek bones. Thus, 1 product with 2 functions = WIN! ($2 from Dollarama)

Directions: This is a cream formula, so makeup you use your clean fingers to smooth it all over the apples of your cheeks.

Lip-gloss

The final step is a touch of lipgloss. A pigmented lipgloss is much easier to work with than a lipstick. Also, they tend to be more moisturizing than a lipstick so less work is required to prevent your lips from cracking. Thus, I would recommend using lipgloss first. The one that I had picked out is by E.L.F and it is a mauve-pink type of colour. I find that pinks look great on almost everyone. Thus, they are definitely a safe choice for a first lipgloss. ($1 from E.L.F)

You may be wondering why I haven't included a mascara in this kit and that's simply because Florence wears glasses on a regular basis. Sometimes with longer lashes, it can hit the glasses and becomes uncomfortable when you blink. Thus, I had left out the mascara in this kit. However, if you do no wear glasses on a daily basis, a mascara is also a MUST! I feel that lengthier lashes really complete the eye-look. So feel free to throw a mascara in here. I would recommend the Majolica-Majorca Lash Expender or the Fiberwig mascara.

And that' it!! Wow, what a long post! For those of you who do not live in Toronto or do not know what Pacific Mall is, it's basically one of the largest Chinese malls in the Greater Toronto Area. It's opened all year round, thus, close to impossible to find a parking spot during the holidays/weekends.

They have some cosmetics and clothing stores inside the mall. Most of the stuff are imported from Hong Kong and China but selling for 7x more than its original price but with the same not so good quality. As for cosmetics, they are definitely more expensive than online stores even though they have a large selection. I usually don't enjoy shopping there just because I can never find anything that I feel it's worth getting. However, today was a little different. Let me show you some of the goodies that I picked up today:

Remember those Banane Taipei and T.A.T.A Baby "Birkin" purses that I posted here? Well, since I couldn't get my hands on the Banane Taipei ones (long story, it pretty much got lost in the mail), I was more than happy to find this today! I had a pretty hard time debating between this colour or one that was completely hot-pink. I decided to stick with this in the end because not only is the print more apparent, but I do enjoy the classier colour combo. (On sale for $20 no tax)

I finally got my hands on some platform sneakers! I really regret not getting these when I was in Hong Kong and Nanjing last summer. Then when I came back to Toronto, I had went crazy trying to find them online, but they were still really pricey. I saw these ones today at Pacific Mall and I loved the colour and the detachable fur! They make a great shoe for both Winter and Summer. They are also a better quality than the ones that I had seen in China, so I didn't mind paying $40 for them.

Big earmuffs = LOVE! I couldn't resist getting more earmuffs just because I wanted a black one so that it would match with anything. Plus, they were buy one get one 50% off anyways. (Both earmuffs for around $13)

Lastly, I picked up this little toy for JL. For those who does not know, JL is a huge fan of toys! (You can check out his toy blog here!) I'm talking about Gundams, Kamen Riders, Ultaman and just pretty much anything that you can think of. Well, maybe not Figma's. So when I came across this little toy line, I knew he would like it right away. It's a cat that's dressed up as Batman, which is quite suitable for JL. Might as well let Batman sit in his glass cabinets with all of the other toys! Hehe ~ ($10.99 + tax)

The launch party was held at the Lomography store, located at 536 Queen St West in Toronto. I had already seem of the new cameras through the internet, but I couldn't wait to see them in person.

Glad to have spend the night with my two girlies, Rica and Joyce! You can see some photos that I took with this camera here.

Cybersampler Chrome & Oktomat

I also have a camera that's very similar to these (check it out here). When you release the shutter, they'll take 4-8 continuous shots. So in the photo, you'll see the split frames! Super fun and the results are never what you expect! ~

Lubitel 166+

I've wanted this camera for quite some time now! I have still yet to add a TLR to my collection! *Must save up to get this!*

La Sardina

Don't you love the sardine can design? Wakatsuki Chinatsu has just released her Spring 2012 catalog on her website. Some of these pieces are just stunning! I'm especially loving the pastel colours, denim shirts, stadium jackets, dots and floral prints. These are definitely trends that you should look out for in the next season. On another note, Wakatsuki Chinatsu is 5 months pregnant! You can read all about it here! I'm so jealous that she can look good even when she's pregnant!

I still want those high-top sneakers! I generally have very oily skin, but against this harsh Winter weather in Toronto, even my face can start to get flaky. This makes the application of foundation really difficult and my face gets extremely red because it's so sensitive. Plus, not to mention that it hurts! Thus, over the years, I have discovered little things that I can do to prevent my skin from becoming overly dry during the Winter. I wanted to share these tips with you as well and so here are my 5 Winter Skin care tips:

#1: Gel Moisturizers

Gel moisturizers are my favourite cream to use during this time of the year. Gel moisturizers tend to provide a burst of moisture that perfectly quenches and hydrates the skin. They are very light and absorbs really quickly into the skin. I love using gel creams during the winter just right before my makeup routine. It really smooths all the rough patches on my face. Here are two of my favourite ones and you know what's so great about these besides smoothing dry skin? They are incredibly affordable! Remember my review here of the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream? It was only $10 CAD and as you can tell, I'm almost out of it (That was my second jar). I recently discovered this new one by L'oreal and I would argue that it's even better than the Garnier one. Not only does it offer sun protection but it's also suitable for oily skin. It is a little more expensive than the Garnier one, however, you do get more product. Both of these creams come in a very heavy jar container, so it's very chic. (Available at your local drugstore)

#2: Hydrating Facial Masks

I cannot begin to explain how amazing facial masks are, especially during the dry season. Most sheet masks recommend that you apply one sheet on a weekly basis, however, since my face is extra dry during Winter, I apply on every single night just after my shower. Sheet masks contain a lot of serums and if you look for one that's specially for hydration, it'll be dripping when you take it out of the packaging. My favourite sheet masks of all time are still My Beauty Diary and My Scheming because they have the most serum per sheet. (You can see my reviews of face masks here). I would recommend the Aloe Vera one by My Beauty Diary for hydration. (Available at Artie Style, $15.99/10 sheets, Use code "THISWASFOREVER" for 10% off on $20+ purchases)

#3: Evian Water Facial Spray

This little spray never leaves my purse during the Winter. I carry this around with me all the time and whenever I feel my face tightening from the cold, I quickly take this out and give it a few sprays. Evian supplies the vital moisture skin so desperately needs to look soft, supple, healthy, and young looking. You can use it to rehydrate and deliver the perfect balance of minerals skin demands. Don't worry about messing up your makeup because the spray can even act as a makeup fix. The best part is that you can also take this with you on the airplane for easy travel. (Available at Sephora $10 for 2 50ml bottls)

#4: Hand Moisturizer

I can never leave home without my hand lotion. It's not just my face that gets very dry during the Winter, but my hands always crack and becomes dry from the wind. Thus, it's essential to carry a decent hand lotion in your purse. This is the new one that I've been loving by Crabtree & Evelyn. I am very picky about my hand creams because I want to provide a great amount of moisture without being overly oily. Plus, the scent need to be mild and not too strong. Prior to using this one, I had been using the L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, which is just as good. (Available at Crabtree & Evelyn, $9 CAD)

#5: Humidifier

Last but definitely not the least, this is my new baby humidifier. Isn't it just adorable? Central heating systems (as well as space heaters) blast hot dry air throughout my home and this can cause my house to be very, very dry. Humidifiers get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. I have placed this right inside my bedroom and turn it on whenever I'm in my room. I turn it on every night before I go to bed as well so that my face will not be dry in the morning. Plus, with the humidifier around, it can also help boost up my body's immune system. Why? That's because dry air is one of the major causes of respiratory infections, nose bleeds and winter colds. A lack of moisture can prevent your body's immune system from repelling infection causing germs, and can actually promote the growth of some bacteria, viruses, and respiratory irritants. (Available at your local Walmart, $17.99)

I hope this post had been helpful and informational. Of course these tips are not definitive. If you have any other ideas on how to combat dry skin during Winter, please share them with me in the comments below! LAYERS! Besides what I was wearing in those photos, I also had an outer jacket as well. These layers are a great way to play with texture and colours without having to sacrifice warmth, which is very important for the winter. Try playing around with different combinations of vests, light jackets, sweaters, shirts and etc to see what you can come up with.

On another note, I finally decided to wear these Jeffrey Campbell Probation Fur after having them in a box for two months. I bought them a while ago during Black Friday from Solestruck. They reminded me so much of the Burberry Creepers. I paid just under $100 CAD for them with shipping, which is a fraction of the Burberry pair (retailed for over $800 USD). It's also helps that these are one of my most comfortable pair of shoes to walk around him. Seriously, I can walk in them for an entire day.
