Just saw this on Ruby Inside about the Anvil DSL/Framework for creating ruby gui apps.

Pretty cool, I have been looking at Shoes, but I don’t have an Intel Mac, and I don’t touch a PC unless I have to.

But enough talking, let’s try it out with the proof of concept app called Hamr, a text editor of sorts.

To get it working you’ll need to install the wxruby gem.

sudo gem install wxruby
choose platform (I'm on an g5 - so i choose 1(powerpc))

then

mkdir test
cd test
svn checkout http://hamr.rubyforge.org/svn/trunk/ hamr
cd hamr
ruby script/run

Yes! Very basic proof of concept, but very cool.

I have not had time to experiment with this, but it does look promising.

iden.tify.us was written about on Mashable! I am really quite interested to see what kind of comments and feedback comes from this.

In the article, the reviewer, Kristen Nicole mentions that user registration might be a barrier for some to consider using it to identify songs. I originally thought that people would see the usefulness of the site and love to register in order to help people out, but maybe I will peel back the registration to only post songs.

The other thing that I will be toying with is when users submit a video link, how embedding within your site or blog would be handled.

If anyone has any experience or thoughts about handling something like that, please, leave a comment.

What is iden.tify.us? It’s a place for people to upload music and have it identified by the community.

Is there a community yet? Not yet, but sign up and grab a RSS feed of the songs being asked or a RSS Feed for a certain genre that you might know way to much about.

Why should someone bother with iden.tify.us? Two reasons. One, if you have an unknown song, you can upload and get a nice little widget for your blog or site. Two, we want people to help people identify music and allow users to use affiliate links to places that sell that certain song someone is looking for.

So what are you waiting for? Go upload a song, grab the embedded widget for your site and maybe you can finally get an answer to that song you always want to know more about.

Here is an example of the widget for your blog. If you know the answer to this song, please sign up and identify it for me, thanks!

I came across the Filtering Sensitive Logs Railscast the other day and Ryan explains how to filter out password information out of your development and production log files, something i needed to do for my site.

He uses a simple application with only one password field, where I am using acts as authenticated which uses an additional parameter for password confirmation.

So just edit the application controller by adding this somewhere near the end.

filter_parameter_logging :password, :password_confirmation

That takes care of the signup form password from being logged.

I don’t know why i signed up, after hearing all the blab from SXSW, i figured i missed the bandwagon, but i’m on there putting my daily business up on there. I do kind of like it becuase of it’s limit, the 140 characters.

One thing I wish you could do is put *private* inside of it, then either yourself or personal firends could only see it.

Besides that, add me as friend or how ever it works - http://twitter.com/tmy.

p.s. whenever you post something to twitter it’s called a twit, is there some underlying meaning to that? huh twitter people?
