Obviously, the movie ties in blue people, a sorcerer, a laughing cat, and a present-day city into a tight little bundle, complete with a moral. For a long time, the movie seems to be how the Smurfs fit in. However, it turns into an all out war, with a lovely ending. In the beginning, Papa Smurf is having a vision in which Clumsy dooms their race by losing the dragon wand. When the rest of the Smurfs kick Clumsy out of the most important festival of the year, he decides to pick some berries. On his way back, he unknowingly leads Gargamel into their safe village. It's not so safe anymore! With the city in panic, Clumsy runs towards the waterfalls, and six Smurfs decide to save him. In a foolish move, Clumsy falls into the waterfall, transporting the Smurfs into a present day city. With the Smurfs return home on the line, Papa Smurf must make some new acquaintances, and sacrifices. I would give this movie a four out of five star rating, because it is good for young kids, but not for older kids. With lots of funny scenes, and sweet dances, the Smurfs prepare to take on the big screen.

BACK TO BASICS. Basic math is KEY. Review fractions, percentages, and decimals.

Make sure to go over the graphing inequalities. Learn how to use a graph to express inequalities. (Check out Khan acadamy - they have some cool videos that'll help you learn these concepts)

Work on Least Common Multiple and Greatest Common Factor.

Exponents was a big part of my tests - so make sure you brush up on that.

Do you know how to simplify expressions? Make sure you do! This is all over the test.

The experts agree. So do the critics. Everyone is crazy about the game. The game is rated 9 out of 10 on an average, and is in the running for the game of the year award.

Gameplay:

If you want to play a two player game, you can do that in the menu. Teams can be selected, with different jerseys for many. Don’t know how to play? Here are instructions for Nba 2K11 Wii.

If you are playing a 2 player game, and you’re not making shots, just go to game sliders and change 3-point success and all the others to 100 %. Fights with his brother, stunts, and awesomeness are the main theme.

Characters:

Clarence “Kick” Francis Buttowski

Kick is known for destroying houses and breaking a lot of things (especially the silence) during his stunts. His stunts usually are near dead man’s drop. He goes by Billy Stump’s saying, “Live till it hurts!” He is very short and wears a white jump suit, with yellow boots. In all the episodes, Kick is seen with his white helmet, which has a red stripe down the middle. In one episode “Exposed,” Kick loses his helmet. But, he still has his head covered. It is not known what is under his helmet.

Gunther Magnuson:

Gunther is an overweight (but muscular) boy who wears shorts, a red cap, and a blue t-shirt. He is Kick’s best friend. He is a stunt coordinator who, unlike Kick, prefers a quiet life. He likes Jackie in “For the Love of Gunther,” and is shown to have affection for Lady La La in “Kyle Be Back.”

Bradley “Brad” Buttowski:

Brad is Kick’s older brother, and the oldest child. He has failed his driver’s test four times, and thinks he is popular. He always tortures Kick, and fights with him all the time.

Brianna “Bri” Buttowski

Brianna is her Mom’s favorite child. She is 8 and is always going to pageants. To quote Kick, all she ever says is: I want, I want, I want! She has a certain respect for Kick, but she hates Brad.

Honey Buttowski

Honey is Kick’s mom. She bought him his jumpsuit and was a daredevil in her time. She is in her 30s.

Harry Buttowski

Harry is Kick’s dad. He discourages Kick from doing stunts, and pushes him to do well in school. Kick thinks he is not cool. He has forced Kick to play the piano.

Magnus and Helga Magnuson

They are Gunther’s parents. My first transformer was Cyclonus. Most of you probably don’t know who he is. He was a green and purple decepticon with an orange face. He transformed into a helicopter and had launching rocket on each hands. It used to be 15$. Now, it costs 40$. My brother’s first transformer was Overcast, a decepticon that transformed into a plane. It had an ugly face, but a huge flamethrower and two missiles that look like fire bursts. P.S. If you really want a weapon filled transformer, you might be in luck. Look for Hotshot Border Patrol Cybertron. He is a bulky transformer with multiple sidewinder missiles (78 to be exact) located on his arms and legs (and hidden in his cannons). He has a turret on his back that is movable. He transforms into a bulky armored car. He was about 20 dollars when we bought him. He is now worth 110 dollars. That brings me to another point. I needed an excuse to buy more. So, I told my parents that these would soon be worth more money than we bought it for. Now, I have a huge box full of transformers. My most recent additions: Ironhide and Ratchet. I have two Optimus Primes in my collection. I have countless figures from the Transformers Armada series, one figure from the Transformers Energon series, multiple figures from the cybertron series, and about 8 figures from the Movie series. My brother and I have joined forces (a rare thing) and combined our collections. Now, we have a huge collection. So, if you are a transformers fan, you should not be ashamed. There’s another transformers fanatic out there, ME!

In fact, you don’t have to be a diehard transformers fan like me to enjoy this movie. If you want a review, keep reading.

Rating 4½ stars

I read the book first. Three words: it was awesome. But-I have to say- the movie was better in a lot of places. For example, Transformers Dark of the Moon director, Michael Bay, says that he wanted to authenticate the flight suit parts of the movie. So the actors were actually flying with flight suits, no strings attached. Other than that, the melee combat blasted me off my feet. The story line also has a real twist to it, filled to the brim with betrayal and saturated with explosions. I would take off ½ a star because Transformers Dark of the Moon completely changed some parts of the book. I like seeing a movie that sticks to the original story. Usually, going off the original is bad. But in some movies, parts have to be changed. If you want to see a real action/thriller movie, well, what are you waiting for? Go and watch Transformers Dark of the Moon.

For weeks, our class had been waiting for this day. The past few days were pouring and raining. Then, on March 17, 2011, (St. Patrick’s Day) it was… sunny! It was as if fate was prompting us to go on this trip. Did I mention that we were going to the Marin Headlands?

As the class walked to the bus, I made sure that my bag had everything. This was it! I was going to the Marin Headlands! As I got onto the bus, I made sure that my best friends were right next to me. In a second, we had started. At first, we were chatting. But in 10 minutes, Mr. Hogan announced that we could bring out our… electronics. Everyone was excited. This made me wonder if my generation is addicted to video games and electronics. Now - I don’t claim to be immune to this. I, myself, had brought my Videora iPod. I can do this! 17 songs should last a long time I thought. Boy was I wrong. Four hours on a bus with nothing to do can get extremely boring. Just when I was ready to quit, I heard a voice saying, “We have reached the Marin Headlands!”

YES! After we got out, Mr. Hogan, our awesome teacher, had brought cookies for everyone. After a quick restroom break, we were off to the hike. Before the hike started, we were introduced to three rangers: Roxy, Molly, and Willie. As we gathered in a circle, we reviewed what we learned in class. Then, we continued on our hike. Finally, we reached the good part: the Investigations. My group chose the bridge. I imagined that these rocks had one time been over a thousand miles away. Here, we learned that the rock under the Point Bonita lighthouse was diabase. Also, it was created in the ‘60s. Here, the waves crashed so hard on the rock, the water was white all the time. After huffing and puffing up the mountain back, we had the best part: LUNCH. After lunch, Willie taught us about the formation of mountains on plate boundaries. The most amazing thing was that she used an Oreo as a visual aid to explain the phenomenon. After that, we eroded (ate) our scientific tool (the cookie). Once that was done we went to the beach and played a bunch of fun games.

AT ABOUT 4PM, WE EMBARKED on our return back home… a four-hour drive back.

My speech was entitled "Embrace your fear; Soar to Success" and it was 4-5 minutes long.

Did I mention my YLP experience helped me breeze through most of my Boy Scouts Communication merit badge requirements. And of course it gave me a lot more confidence with my school book report presentations.

This is basically a Toastmasters club for kids. Toastmasters are 18 and above.

Here, we learn about speaking in front of groups. 15 kids are in this class. We learn to stop using the words: UM, AH, SO, Etc. These are called filler words. In this 8 week session, we learn these eight things. In one session, we might learn this:

1. How to run a toastmaster meeting.

a. Having an agenda

b. Starting and ending meetings on time

c. Keep discussions on track

d. Encourage everyone to participate.

e. Make sure the meeting’s purpose is accomplished

We learn how to speak on the dot, or impromptu speaking. We call this Table Topics. We get only 15 seconds to think about a one minute speech on a certain topic.

IF you want to become a better speaker, check out Toastmasters.

They were awesome! First we went to an igloo where we learned about the Aurora Borealis. Then we saw an albino crocodile. After a walk up the steps, I saw the living roof. Then it was off to the Rain Forest. The humidity is genuine. See if you can catch a butterfly or a hidden frog. Can you see a camouflaged snake?

Then, it was straight to the one and only planetarium. There, we saw the origins of the Earth and the search for life. As we were winding down, we saw the penguins. Along with those rare animals, we saw tigers, deer, giraffes, and more. Finally, we went to the energy section and saw our carbon footprint.

Bored of your science book? Ready for some fun?

We went on a HUGE hike up to the top of Spider Mountain. Before the hike, we had made our own sandwich. Mine was made of turkey, lettuce, and cheese. Simple, but tasty. We also had a fruit, chip bag, and cookie.

On our way there, we saw a TALL tree. Then we played Professor hike. This was a game in which the Professor went ahead of everyone on the trail while we played a game. Then, our leaders would send two people on the trail. The professor would “hypnotize” them into believing that they were professors. Then, the next two people would go on the trail and reach the “professors.” The professors would either ask a question or state a fact. After that, the students would continue on the way and eventually meet the professor, who would hypnotize them. Hence, the game would continue until everyone met at a certain place.

After we reached the top, we continued back and reached within the hour. On the way, we enjoyed some edible plants. We tried a plant called Redwood Sorrel, a plant that looks a lot like a clover. It tasted like a Granny Smith Apple. We also had a Douglas Fir that is often mistaken with redwood.

WHEN WE GOT BACK:

· We played a long, but fun, game of capture the flag, in which my team won.

· We played a game of Gaga Ball. In this game, a lot like dodgeball, you were only able to hit the ball with your hand. Also, if a person was hit anywhere other than the foot to the knee, then the person was safe.

· Then we filled out a paper about our leaders.

· Then we had dinner and slept (BARELY).

Banana slug, Banana Slug.

You know I love my baby (love my baby)
I love the way that she hugs (way that she hugs)
People don't understand it (don't understand it)
It's a banana slug (banana slug)

CHORUS

It's just got one foot (got one foot)
It ain't got no toes (got no toes)
It hangs out in the forest (out in the forest)
And helps to decompose (helps to decompose)

CHORUS

The way you wiggle your antennae (wiggle your antennae)
You know it gives me such bliss (gives me such bliss)
Come on, come on banana slug (come on banana slug)
Come on and give me a kiss (give me a kiss)

CHORUS

The way you slide through the forest (slide through the forest)
You know you look so fine (look so fine)
Come on, come on banana slug (come on banana slug)
Come on and show off your slime (show off your slime)

CHORUS

Some people say that it's gross (say that it's gross)
Don't want to hear that jive (hear that jive)
'Cause if not for my baby (not for my baby)
The forest might not survive (might not survive)

CHORUS

You know I love my baby (love my baby)
But he doesn't love me (Doesn't love me)
'Cause it's a hermaphrodite (Hermaphrodite)
Which means he's also a she (also a she)

Chorus

TAN OAK
Sing to the tune of Louie, Louie

Chorus
Tan oak, Tan oak: ooh baby let your xylem flow.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (x2)
(Repeat each line)

Let me tell you about,
Something to make you shout,
It's the tan oak tree,
and it's special to me!

Chorus

The xylem's under the bark,
Where it's cool and dark,
It takes the wet from the ground,
And spreads it around!

Chorus

An acorn's hat,
Is bristly and fat,
The squirrels think it's neat,
To have an acorn treat,

Chorus

It's the oak that's tan,
It gives us a hand,
It's where the Indians go,
For the acorns that grow,

Chorus

It's an evergreen,
It's the best that I've seen,
So put your hands in the air,
And show that you care.

Chorus

Bazooka bubblegum
Chorus
Bubblegum, bazooka-zooka-zooka bubblegum
bazooka-zooka-zooka bubblegum
bazooka-zooka-zooka bubblegum

My mom gave me a penny,
She said to eat at Denny's,
But I didn't eat at Denny's,
Instead I had some...

Chorus

My mom gave me a nickel,
She said buy a pickle,
But I didn't buy a pickle
Instead I had some...
\
Chorus

My mom gave me a dime,
she said to buy a lime,
But I didn't buy no lime,
Instead I had some...

Chorus

My mom gave me a quarter,
She said to buy some water,
But I didn't buy no water,
Instead I had some...

This was it! After two hours on a bus, I had finally arrived at SCIENCE CAMP.

It all began when I walked towards the large group of nervous sixth graders at school waiting for the bus that would take them all (including me) to their first science camp at Camp Campbell near Boulder Creek. As a kid who had been in this school, Forest Park, for over 6 years (this being my 7th) Science Camp was the stuff of legend.

I dropped my heavy bag with all my clothes and "supplies" that would last through my three and a half days at camp. My sleeping bag was so big, I had to carry it separately. I quickly found out that I was the only one from my class who was there. Minutes later, I caught a glimpse of my best friend Yash, who I have known for 6 years, drag his heavy bag towards the crowd. I caught up with him, and two minutes before school began (8:28), my other best friend, Pranav, walked towards me. Lugging his heavy bag, he asked,"Ready?" After loading our luggage, we hopped into the bus and got ready to depart. The bus lurched forward, the motor roaring, and ... the bus stopped. 10 minutes later, The bus driver started the bus again... and she stopped the bus. I would only learn three days later what had happened. On the other bus, the bus driver was showing the first aid kit when it fell out and smashed the window. So, we had to wait for the replacement bus. Anyway, we left twenty minutes later, at around 9:20, and we reached camp at around 11:18.

The first thing that the volunteers showed us was the.. bathrooms. Then we headed towards the campfire. When we reached there, we were immediately seated. The leader decided to teach us two songs: Banana Slug and Tan Oak. Then they announced the cabin groups. The first group, not me! Second, not me! Then, the third group started off with six people I didn't select, then they called... me! I held my breath, and they called,"Yash and Pranav!" YES! My best friends were in my cabin. But we had two GIRL leaders! Summer and Robin. Summer's real name was Brandy and Robin's real name was Adrianna. We were immediately ushered into the new dining hall and we enjoyed a lunch that we had packed. I had popcorn chicken(OH YEAH!) We were led to our cabins, and then Professor Hummingbird (our field teacher) took us on a tour of the camp. Then we went on a hike into the forest! There, we ate some Douglas Fir and we touched some Hazelnut leaves that were as soft as cotton. Professor Hummingbird shared a beautiful poem about Hazelnut leaves,

                                                       " Hazelnut, Hazelnut,

Soft enough to wipe your butt!"

After we finished laughing our heads off, we saw a part of the San Lorenzo river. There, we skipped stones across the river. On the way, we saw a banana slug. Did you know they are Hermaphroditic? We walked back to camp for dinner. we enjoyed Chicken Parmesan, green beans, and bread. Then we had a fiesta.

As I fell asleep, I remembered that my table got the super table award which is given to the cleanest and quietest table.
