Like every year, for the last five years, we are in the planning and preparation stages of our annual 26 Jan trip this time. Having lost our previous site to a hack and the backup not restoring itself, Sid decided to go the full extra mile and create a fresh site that can be used by all like minded people who are planning a trip and need online collaboration as they may not be physically in the same location.
I have been looking for such a site where we can meet people who like to hit the road without cribbing about hotel reservations and soft beds and hot water baths. So maybe this site here will serve the purpose.

Hit it and start your own group if you have a similar plan. Join any other group (we have only our group for now) if you like to meet new people.

HP, really?

Today I visited my blog to see if I had any comments and the first advertisement I saw was an HP one. That reminds me of my poor experience with my HP laptops. I have owned HP Pavilion dv9730us for about two years now. First the Caps Lock stopped working. Press it and you are in caps lock mode, press it again, nothing happens. Press Shift and its back to normal mode. This is despite the fact that I prefer to use shift and rarely use caps (mostly to check if the system is responsive). That the oddest behavior I have seen for a keyboard. Then it was the mouse buttons near the touch-pad even though I have been using a USB mouse mostly. They simply don't work now. The DVD-RW stopped reading any kind of disks. I have not used the drive much during the 2 years, read probably 10-15 disks, burned less than 10 DVDs and now its not reading any disks. The battery only lasts 15 minutes in Balanced Mode. In the current state, its not even in a state to be re-sold. I have made up my mind that the next laptop will be a Dell and I never recommend a HP to anyone. I will be probably looking at something like the following:

This is the second time I am trying to setup a blog. The first time, I went full steam for about 5 posts and then forgot what my blog account was, or which of my 6 or 7 email IDs to check for the details. That tells you something about technology: you need separate accounts for spammers, then others for your account details on all the forums. Though these days, I find that Gmail serves my purpose best. Its accessible on the phone, it has pop and it has a client for all kinds of phones. Hope I do better this time, wish me luck.
