Rumors have it that computer manufacturer ASUS is all geared and will join the 3D notebook bandwagon with two new models that will be launched early next year. First to lead the way is the 15.6-inch ASUS G51J3D followed by a 17.3-inch ASUS G72GX, with both “exuding” performance from every little joint thanks to its Intel Core i7 CPU, GeForce GTS 160M graphics, 4GB RAM memory and the two 320GB hard drives.

Folks from Pyramid Research have come up with their quarterly handset forecast for 2009, and although some of the iPhone, HTC or Motorola (Droid in particular) users may not like the way it sounds, it looks like the Canadians from RIM are about to dominate the mobile phone market with increased sales until 2014 — when they’re expected to sell 22-percent of the new handsets.

After last week’s OpenOfficeMouse debacle, it’s Sony’s turn with their new VAIO Bluetooth Laser. Although it’s not going to going to win any beauty contests, the new Bluetooth Laser Mouse VGP-BMS80 is a multifunctional mouse, that can be connected to either a PC or a PS3  and can operate both as a mouse or as a trackpad-like thingy in its “air mode”, which by the way, doesn’t require a surface.

Orange have acted to respond concerning their iPhone ‘unlimited’ data allowance seemingly coming in at around 750MB per month in acting to reassure customers that the 750MB limit (as indicated in Orange’s terms and conditions) is not an absolute ceiling and that they’ll ‘be lenient’ with customers who exceed 750MB data usage in a month (750MD usage is more of ‘a guide’ say Orange).

It’s no secret anymore that Google intends to become a major player in computer OS business too. And Google is already working on an operating system which was said to be ready by next year. Recent rumors suggest that the Chrome OS is going to arrive a lot sooner than we think. In fact the new OS is apparently going to be available for download in about a week which sounds pretty interesting to say the least.

Lenovo has made the official announcement that their long rumored Lenovo Smartbook ultraportable will debut at next year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, will run on Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor (say bye bye to Intel Atom), should pack a HD-capable display for 720p video and built-in AT&T wireless connectivity.

Remember those Verizon ads mocking AT&T’s 3G coverage and Apple’s iPhone? Well it looks like AT&T is not sitting back accepting all these things, they have sued Big Red and have started a “campaign” against the CDMA carrier by bragging about their EDGE capabilities stating that “With both 3G and EDGE coverage, customers can access the Internet, send e-mail, surf the Web, stream music, download videos, send photos, text, talk and more. The only difference – with some data applications, 3G is faster than EDGE.”

The bad thing however is that more and more iPhone users have complained that even though AT&T reaches 303 million people or 97% of the U.S. population, it has become a habit for 3G to drop to EDGE or even GPRS somewhere in New York, Chicago and San Francisco — proving how reliable AT&T’s network is.

As the U.S. market leader in wireless data service, we typically don’t respond to competitors’ advertising. However, some recent ads from Verizon are so blatantly false and misleading, that we want to set the record straight about AT&T’s wireless data coverage.

On top of these all, AT&T also wants to make sure you know that unlike Verizon, they offer the most popular smartphones in the industry. How about Motorola Droid on AT&T guys? Is that a possibility?

More and more reports suggest that Verizon is going to get the iPhone next year. But not all those reports are saying the same thing. Some are talking about an LTE iPhone while others mention a hybrid iPhone capable of dealing with both UMTS and CDMA networks.

As you may very well know, the Pixi, Palm’s second webOS phone is coming on November 15 from Sprint. I’ll have to say from the start that Sprint has chosen a really bad time to launch the phone. The Pixi is not better than the Pre and it’s coming out right after the Droid, the Droid Eris and the BlackBerry Storm 2. And let’s not forget that Nokia’s N900 is also getting ready to ship.
