Sleep, Where Art Thou?

Sleep evades, even now as the clock ticks to morning my eyes refuse to shut, refuse to give me the rest I sorely need. A case of insomnia? Maybe. I fear that financial woes got me again... The Christmas holidays is fast becoming a memory, but the pain it bestowed upon our pockets can still be felt, deeply in fact.

Life is not easy and so is money, but Christmas is Christmas and kids still expect a trinket or two for their gifts. Actually we were a little stingy this year, not giving out presents really... We just gave presents for the kids, for our god children and no one else... unlike the past years when we've given everyone a trinket or two. This year maybe because of the new car and the expenses we incur because of it, we have decided to have a little stringy Christmas, which may also be good for us, as we tend to splurge during these days. I'm happy though, that the kids are still beaming with joy from their gifts, so in that sense, I am quite satisfied but well spending does have it consequence and we'll salary is a bit late coz my boss is on a holiday.. hahaha.. but we'll make it I know.. somehow I know God makes a way and we seem to be able to get by...

But well, admittedly I am a worry-wort and being one, well, I tend to worry over these things. I cannot help it. I cannot help but worry that we won't have enough to cover the bills and I know I sometimes worry too much. I know God will provide, He always does, but well, as I said I'm a worry wort, so worry I must.. Well, now that I have "unburdened" myself, I hope that sleep will finally come, that I may give my weary body some R & R, a much needed break from it all... Oh when will it all end?

Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion and My Own Two Cents

This week have been a-buzz with news of the celebrity couple Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion's break up. Some says it was inevitable, some say they knew it. Some said how sad, while others rejoiced. In the end, a relationship was broken and people got hurt. Well, just like any relationship that ended it is indeed sad. Sadder because everyone wants to dip into their personal pie, especially with celebrities like them.

In my opinion, well everyone is entitled to one, we should just keep out of it. We can all have our speculations as to why they broke up. Again others deem, it was Piolo's sexual orientation, even though, nothing was really said, nothing was really explained, though some care to put words into KC's mouth and choose to read between the lines, choose to interpret words said to put it as such. It is indeed sad and Piolo's gender seemed to again be questioned. But in the end, what really happened is that someone got hurt and keeps on hurting because we chose to hurdle accusations and tried to justify what cannot be justified.

They broke up, it happens to all of us, celebrity or not. Whatever the reason, it is theirs to keep and we should just be sad about a beautiful couple choosing to part ways. It is not easy, it is never easy going through what they are both going through right now. Let's not put salt over the wound by making it a big hoopla. Let's just let them live their lives, for tomorrow, another more worthy news will come out and everything will be forgotten, that is until the next chapter in this saga unfolds...

High Blood, Low Blood, and Nose Bleeds

I have hypertension for a year now. I've been taking hypertensive medicine and I've been generally okay for the past year, but this week, my pressure has been up and down and it's driving me nuts. Coupled with a cold that runs and bleeds my nose, with a few headaches and some palpitations to boot, it is really frustrating coz I don't know what to think anymore.

Last check up I'm generally okay.. with a few high counts here and there but generally still within normal limits so to speak. So part of me is saying that I'm generally healthy that I shouldn't be feeling this way.... All check up points to a normal me.. then what the heck is wrong... I wish I can know so that I can make ways to improve myself.. is this just because of my weight? OH my goodness...

I'm confused and worried. I pray that this is all just part of growing old... Have you ever experienced anything like this?

Chowking's Naicha

I really love it!

Naicha is Chowking's Pearl Milk Tea and it really exudes a unique flavor for me and I crave for it every now and then....

Yeah the only problem is that the servings are so small.... It's quite expensive for that small serving. I hope that one day chowking will find it in their hearts to make the portions bigger...

Well anyways, it's delicious, well Naicha is delicious and I hope that I'll find the right tea blend to get that unique taste that chowking's has.. then I don't have to run to chowking everytime I get a craving for that all too good Naicha...

My dad would have been 67 today...Well, Pa, I know that you are with God now and that all your hardships are over.

I may not have been the perfect daughter but I hope that you have forgiven me for whatever shortcomings I did as your daughter and know that I also forgave you for all your shortcomings as a dad.

I do have my regrets and I do wish that I did somethings differently before you passed on, but that's life, I can't go back, I can only hope that you are at peace and happy now.

We will continue to strive on here. I will continue to care for your grandchildren :) and I will keep the promise I made to you, at the very least I will try...

On Writing

I never believed I had the gift of gab, yes I can talk for hours on end but I never really believed that what comes out of my mouth is somehow significant. It never really also dawned on me that I can write, I used to write poems, short stories and stuff like that but never really thought that they can be something for public consumption. I always wrote them for myself and myself alone.

But here I am now, finding myself writing for public consumption. Writing for a living. writing something significant, getting paid for it even! it's not easy, actually it's very hard yet I have come to embrace this new position. It has given me so much. Given me a lot and provided me a good avenue while allowing me to get some of the finer things in life.

Life has been good to me and writing has become a very good vehicle, not only for my way to financial freedom but also as an avenue for my creativity, and a way to lash out at life should I feel like it and love it when its what I deem is needed.

Although writing commercially have it's downfall.... I have found myself writing content and writing more content and not realizing that it has become a monotonous task and I'm finding myself at not enjoying writing. It has become a source of income, nothing more, nothing less.

I have made this resolve. I will write for pleasure and creativity at least once a week and allow this blog to be that avenue, stories, poems and the likes will abound, should abound here... I hope that I can sustain it as writing commercially and professionally has taken its toll... it's time to refresh and rejuvenate!

On Shamcey Supsup and The Miss Universe 2011 Pageant

Shamcey, Miss Philippines - Universe 2011 placed 3rd on the Miss Universe Pageant held yesterday. Well, yeah people, particularly pinoy's were disappointed by the outcome, many felt she deserved to win, many felt that she deserved a higher rank because well as everyone has pointed out, she's the only one who didn't call for an interpreter, when we know that all those contestants knew how to speak English, albeit perhaps not entirely fluently but as a commenter once put it, all the other contestants have the chance to think about their answers as the interpreter interprets what they say, so they can formulate in their heads what to say next.

Shamcey answered from her heart and direct to the point. No second thoughts and no second guessing what she said. Perhaps her only mistake is that she didn't elaborate on her answer. No hoopla, no extra thoughts, she answered the question and that was it, it was actually a very good answer, although this may not be what many would say is the "popular" answer, maybe this is why she didn't win. They were hoping she'd say that she will change her religion in the name of love or something like that.

Well, Miss Angola is actually a very beautiful young lady and I know that her countrymen are proud and well, no matter how we look at it, she won and Shamcey only placed 3rd, so well better luck next time Philippines ^_^

Remembering 9/11

It was 10 years ago, but it still echoes and the pain is still evident among many survivors as well as families who lost loved ones during that fateful Sept 11.

Fortunately, I don't have a loved one or nor do I ever know anyone who suffered from that day, but I remember it well. I was pregnant with my first child, yes, she turns ten this November, so I know that the 9/11 tragedy was 10 years ago. I was lying in bed. I was on my 7th month, my tummy was already big and I was watching TV. When my series was cut off by "breaking news", then I saw this very tall building puffing out a lot of smoke, then the announcer said that an airplane crashed through it. Then a little while later, I saw another plane hit the other building and I was thinking, my goodness! what is happening. I was dumb struck, my eyes transfixed on the TV thinking what is the world coming to. I live far off from the states so I really have no idea how bad it was to be there on that spot so to speak, but I felt it, felt the loss, the helplessness. the question also plagued my mind, "why", if they can do it to the US of A, then they can easily do it to us....My mind wanders at the possibilities...

Eniweiz, after 10 years, what remains of the twin towers are just memories, memories of the men and women who died there for no reason except to feed the thoughts of a crazed lunatic who's sole purpose is to destroy and hurt. I just hope that the lessons imparted by Sept 11, remain to be deeply rooted in us, in what we do and realize that it shouldn't happen again. Not for money, not for fortune, not for a misguided calling, not for anything...

Some Sizzlin' Pepper Steak and Yogato Ice Cream

After going to mass, we had lunch at Sizzling Pepper steak in Trinoma... It's one of those places that you go to when you have some extra dough to spare... hahaha.. the food is good but it is a bit on the high price, not that high.. but high enuf.... well...but well worth it, I tell you... We keep coming back.... And for one, my little boy who's very picky with his food can finish the whole serving all by himself, that I tell you is a feat indeed!!!

As usual we ordered the mushroom gravy hamburg for my hubby and the two kids and teriyaki mayo hamburg for me. (We learned this one from my cousin, who loves to eat as well :))

For dessert the kids had some ice cream, chocolate ice cream for my little boy and Yogato Strawberry Yogurt Ice cream for my little girl.... I didn't taste the chocolate coz well, what more can you expect out of chocolate right? Hahaha, so I got spooned a little of the yogurt ice cream and hmm.... it was good.. a bit expensive at around 150 I think, but well worth it if you have the dough to spare... I enjoyed my spoonful and so did my daughter (enjoyed her cupful) so all's well...

So next time you're in trinoma, you might want to drop a quick visit to Sizzling Pepper Steak and grab a teriyaki hamburg or even just a whip of that ice cream yogurt.. surely you'll be happy you did. :)

Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me:

I loved you enough to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.
I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.
And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.

Was your Mom mean?

I know mine was. We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches. And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too. Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with them. She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do. She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had eyes in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough! Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the door
so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16. Because of our mother we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced. None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.

Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just like Mom was.

I think that is what's wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough mean moms!

I just love this... it truly is the truth! Do you believe me? Everyone tries to be a good parent. I know I do. It's not easy to be the "bad one". It's not easy to be always the one saying no or setting up restrictions but in the end, when you come to think about it, all parents ever want is the best for their kids. I just hope that one day kids will learn and understand what being a "good parent" really means...

A Treat At Shakey's

Went to Ever Commonwealth today to buy some stuff for my kids school presentation. After 'shopping' we had some mirienda at Shakey's, as my little boy was hankering for some pizza...

We ordered their promo meal.. a platter of spaghetti, a large thin crust pizza, some fried chicken and a pitcher of iced tea. It was all yummy as they always are...

The pizza came in last.. half pepperoni, half manager's choice... but a slice of the pepperoni side was well, burnt at the crust, but as we were already full from the chicken and the spag, I really didn't bother to complain as it was just a slice and we can still eat most of the pizza...

In the middle of our mirienda.. one of the crew, perhaps she was the supervisor, I'm not really sure, went to our table and asked how the meal was... I said that it was delicious, but just that one part of the pizza was burned. I just pointed it to her so that she can let the cook know so that they would take care to watch their cooking next time, so to speak, not really lodging a complaint, he looked at it and saw that it was indeed burned... we already ate half of the pizza and really wasn't expecting anything, but she took the pan and said that they will replace the pizza.... I never really thought that they would give us a new whole pizza, but lo-and-behold... we got a whole pizza to enjoy....

Cancer, cancer go away!

Last month my sister in law was diagnosed with ovarian cancer with metastasis to the lungs and liver... They operated on her about 2 weeks ago... she was in the hospital for quite a while and she still has to undergo a lot of chemo sessions...

We are optimistic that she'll get through this... It's not easy but we are getting there and we know that we will be better people after this ordeal....

God, we lift up to you all our troubles.. Carry us through this tide.. We know you're burden is light.... Give us hope and give us peace... Let us cast all our troubles onto you. We know you have a plan, we know you're goodness abounds and this is just another hurdle for us to overcome and an opportunity for us to give you back all the glory and praise!

Manang Beth and Her Cancers

Hahaha.. I caught you with the title right?

Well, my sister in law, has always been blessed, she is blessed with a family that loves her, a mom that dotes on her, a good job that allows her to help out the family, a good set of friends that is always there to support her, and now she has been blessed with not one, but several cancers that will change her life forever.

She told me once that she has always been "bukulin", she has lumps all over her body that grows everywhere... But it never really has been a problem, well until now that is. One of those lumps, the ones in her ovaries turned into the dreaded "C word", and well it didn't want to be lonely so invited a neighbor who lived in her liver and another one in her lungs. But well, we cannot let them live in her for long of course, so she had to have an operation... and so she did and now she's in the hospital recuperating from this bout of operation, and readying herself for a bout of chemo, knowing Manang Beth, she will be up in no time...

We can't accept the thought of anything else, so we pray everyday, pray hard that she'll be okay, that's she'll be back to her usual self, that everything will be alright.. there's nothing else we can accept, nothing else we are willing to think about..... So with God's help I know we'll all pull through this...

Marcelito Pomoy: Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 Grand Winner

After Jovit Baldivino comes another talent from PGT, Marcelito Pomoy, the show's season 2 grand winner!

Aside from male diva Marcelito Pomoy, there were 13 other grand finalists, the Madrigal Siblings, acoustic heartthrob Jem Cubil, young balladeer John Michael Narag, Pinoy Bruno Mars Buildex Pagales, tween trio DJP Trio, dance groups Freestylers, B4, and Filogram, tap dancing brothers Happy Feet, powerdance duo Leoniel Enopia and Elizabeth Dazo, Rico the Magician, hoolahoop exhibitionist Angel Calalas, and the band Skeights.

The grand finalists who topped the show's text votes were Happy Feet, Freestylers, and Marcelito.

But ultimately, Marcelito Pomoy, the male with a female singing voice was proclaimed as the grand winner of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2. Happy Feet came in second and Freestylers was third.

Marcelito's win didn't really come as a surprise as he was a very strong contender from the get go! However, there were some issues concerning his joining and ultimate rejection in another talent show from another network, but regardless, he is still the winner here in PGT and he got the exposure he truly deserves. It seems that it's the other talent shows, lost and the gain of PGT for realizing his talents!

Well, either way, Congratulations are in order for our winner Marcelito Pomoy, you truly deserve it with a wonderful talent such as yours, keep it up! and Pilipinas Got Talent, I for one, am looking forward to the next season!!!

Getting By With The Cold

I know its been cold during the last few days but I can't help but be drawn to the "halo-halo" by Chowking. It's cold yes, but the yumminess of this desert is so tempting that even the cold won't keep me away.....

But I'd really rather have the old serving! Hahaha... The new tumbler is too small, its hard to manipulate all those yummy goodness without risking overflow of the 'juices'. I think chowking in their desire to want to be 'new' decided on a not so smart decision... hahahaha.... Forgive me, I don't mean to be rude....

But they have to know that their food is good enough that they don't have to repackage it to so to speak. Let the food speak for itself please and stop thinking of ways to repackage your food.... Eating "halo-halo" at chowking used to be a treat, now its' becoming a hassle coz its hard to mix all the ingredients up in a small container... well Chowking guys, think about it and I hope you'll have the heart to bring the old tumbler back....

My brother loves sports and he loves watching basketball, baseball and he loves hockey even more. It's not also everyday that we get the chance to watch them live. The good thing about these live games is that you are given the opportunity to see your favorite players live as well as see them in action. A live game can really be so exciting and you can feel the tension in the air, especially if it is an all important game. You can really feel it and you get to cheer for your favorite team and they can hear you! You'll be a part of something quite important.

My brother loves Chicago Black Hawks and it was great that I was able to score some chicago blackhawks tickets and he was ecstatic when he found out that I got them, It was not easy to get these tickets but I'm lucky to have found a great site, Ticketamerica.com has chicago blackhawks tickets united center tickets and nhl tickets in all cities. At the end of the day, I believe that only love can change you. How can love do that? Precisely because Love focuses on the good. (1 Corinthians 13 says "Love never keeps a record of wrong.")

When you focus on the good in you, that good multiplies, grows, develops, and reproduces within you. When you focus on the bad in you, that bad multiplies, grows, develops, and reproduces within you too.

That's why I believe only God's Love can change you forever.

What does God see in you?

Genesis 1:27 says that you're made in His image.

Personally, I believe that's what He sees in you. Your beauty. Your Holiness. Your magnificence. Your splendor. Your glory.

We're too familiar with the Doctrine of Original Sin. Original Sin says we're depraved at our very core. That we're big-time sinners through and through.

That's true.

But we need to balance this with an equally important Doctrine called the Doctrine of Original Innocence. Original Beauty. Original Holiness.

I have a deep personal experience on this. I actually changed my life when I stopped focusing on my sin and started focusing on God's Love.

Globe's Impeccable Customer ServicE!

How I wish, right? Anyone who ever has a problem with their Globe Connection, whether it is for cellphone, internet or whatever you will surely be in for a treat of your lifetime.... hahahaha.... So if you need to go to Globe be ready to spend at least 2 hours waiting in line and that's on a good day.

I wish they'd really just step up their processes... sometimes the long wait is because their process is quite tedious. The time it takes for a person to get approved for the line as well as the time it takes to release the phone takes a lot of time. It really is very frustrating for many of us who have chosen Globe as our provider.

I remember a time we went to Globe trinoma, we waited for 2 1/2 hours to talk to a customer service person only to be told that they cannot process our application. You see we have a business line at Globe and it turns out they only cater to personal applications. They don't cater to business lines there. But it seems that the guard who gives out the number is not aware of this and as such, he just directed us to the customer service. It would have saved us a lot of time, if from the get go we were informed that our application cannot be processed there, right?

I just hope that one day they can and will up their services. Outside of this customer service nightmare, globe is still my choice for mobile networks, I just wish that they realize how poor their services are if you need to see them for anything

Another Day For Eating

It seems that Trinoma is fast becoming a loved place for us...

Another relaxing, another food place to try out at Trinoma. Cafe Breton was our next stop.

Just snacks and some cold drinks to cool the afternoon. I had something that has toast, chicken and some tasty sauce and my hubby had a burger.

He also had chocolate something something while I had the same in caramel. It was delicious, I wouldn't mind going back to that place.

Well of course another bout of smoking session, I think perhaps my hubby is looking forward to these trips especially because he is allowed to smoke in front of me... without repercussions... Hmm.... perhaps thats the main reason he always agrees to go, even though its quite expensive, to always be going out... that's thought to ponder....

But eating delicious food is always a pleasure, a quick bite and a sip from these cool concoctions can really make your day. So it's a wonderful time to check out the rooftop of Trinoma, as I fondly call it, see the sites, it is a beautiful place to hangout in since there are trees and a flowing river like body of water that makes the place tranquil and relaxing if only the people there would stop talking! hahahaha...

But indeed places like Shomal, Cafe Breton and even Starbucks really makes for a good place to hang out and enjoy the company of friends, colleagues and even your loved one.

I've been a mom for almost 10 years and I'm still making mistakes and I'm still learning.
Being a mom is a life long job and life long schooling as well. I don't know if the time will come for me to perfect this craft of motherhood.

So to all women who love their kids and for everyone who ever had to care for another human being. This day is for us, a day to bask in the love of the people around us and a day to realize how great our lives are even if there are constant problems, ones that keep us awake at night.

Even as we struggle in this world to take care of our families, no matter how hard life may seem to be.. Today is our day.. A day to be blessed and loved and nurtured.

To my mom, I love you mama. I may not always be able to show it, I may not always be grateful for all you did, but I now realize your goodness and your struggles to ensure that we have a good life. I hope you can forgive me for my short comings as your daughter.

To my mother-in-law... I know we don't always see eye to eye.. but know that I love you like a second mother and respect you in the same way as well. Thank you for rearing up your son in a loving manner, I will always be grateful for my husband.

Running For Life - Part 2

Well as I've been telling you guys.. I've started running well jogging and walking.. hahahaha.. but its a start I know and I plan to keep this up for sometime yet..

Since I have had a hard time with my shoes. I decided to buy myself one.. If only for health reason's do I want to spend so much on shoes.. but it was well worth it.. running/jogging has never been easier with these shoes... the good thing as well is that when I take them off, my feet doesn't feel tired at all. Yes, its a bit on the high side but honestly, it's all worth it... I love these shoes and I hate rubber shoes. I don't usually wear them but these shoes made me feel like I'm just wearing slippers and I can run at will on them. So I'm officially (again?) in love with my adidas climacool and well if you are planning on jogging for health I advise you get something like these babies and you'll surely love running as much as me.. =)

Update: We've been jogging daily for almost 2 weeks now. We've progressed from 2 rounds around the UP oval to 3 rounds (YEY!) Plan on increasing to 4 rounds soon but I really don't want to overdo it, I don't want to burn out early. So we'll as everything goes... Wish me continues luck :)

We started jogging everyday since Black Saturday and it has been a blast... Waking up early is not an easy task, especially for me who's been used to waking up at 9am or later... but the sacrifice is well worth it, I'm feeling a lot better, and I love how everything seems to be jelling...

Up Oval/Sunken Garden is indeed a wonderful place to jog.. You will find trees that shade your jogging path and there is a jogging path that will allow you to concentrate on jogging and not worry about the number of vehicles that can hit you.. you don't need to. the jogging path is there for you :)

I have blisters on my foot from having too tight fitting shoes, my legs ache from the strain its not used to, but I'm still happy. And if I keep this up, I know I'll reach my target weight in no time... now, ain't that great????
