Two-piece Dress

2016-02-29T19:40:00.004-08:00

Hey guys!

Recently stole this dress from my mom's closet. I'm loving the intense mix of patterns, and that it's a two piece. Gives you the opportunity to wear it in so many different ways. I paired it with some nude heels to keep the rest of the look neutral since there's so much going on.

Sneakers and a Dress

2016-02-24T09:17:00.000-08:00

Hello everyone!

It's a lovely, snowy Wednesday in Chicago. We're expecting about 7 inches of snow, which is no fun AT ALL. But I'll take it since our winter has been pretty mild compared to years past. In this throwback ootd, I'm wearing one of my favorite H&M dresses I snagged for just $20!!! And the cutest navy kitten heels with pom-pom laces from Asos. After a few hours though, Adidas are just a better idea:)

My face when we've decided on a restaurant, but two hours later, everyone's still not leaving.

Pink Fur

J. Crew Fall/Winter '16

2016-02-16T20:13:00.003-08:00

Still no sign of Spring here in Chicago, yet I'm already so pumped for this years' Fall and Winter Collection from J. Crew!!!
The colors, the prints and textures, oh I'm so in love! And the styling is so perfect. My dream would be to have every single creation in my closet.

BRAVO!

Family Fun!

2016-02-11T17:21:00.000-08:00

Weekends are my favorite. I get to unwind from the busy week and work, and spend time with my family. Family is everything to me. I also really love ice cream. Put those together and it's pretty much an awesome weekend. My favorite is cappuccino ice cream with crushed oreos. YUM!

What are some of your favorite flavors?!

Alright guys, I've been obsessing over these amazing patched denim booties! Ever since Asos posted this picture on their Instagram page, it's pretty much all I've been thinking about. All I know is that it's part of their Spring Collection but still have not seen it on their website. Until then, I'll just leave this here for everyone to enjoy

Mixing textures is such a great way to create a fun look if you're not into mixing prints and/or playing with bright colors, although with this look I've done all of the above!

Sunday

2015-10-25T17:52:00.004-07:00

Hey guys!

Just a quick post on my outfit today. Decided to go with something more basic and easy yet again. Just a heather grey sweater with a blue pin-striped back, an amazing quilted leather jacket that is a MUST for every closet for the fall, a chiffon plaid skirt that I'm obsessed with, and of course another pair of sneakers. For the years of retail I've done, it's starting to finally get to me:( #oldladyalert

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Must-Haves

2015-10-18T16:48:00.000-07:00

Hey guys!

So today I went for a more casual look by adding layers of denim, but still adding some pizazz with booties and a leopard coat. Everyone needs the perfect denim top, and after the long search, and although I own 3 others, the neck-tie denim blouse is the winner! I love neck-tie tops because I love to wear them under sleeveless dresses and having a big bow steal the show. It's ten times better when my neck-tie top is denim. Another important thing to have in your closet is a leopard coat. It's a great staple piece that can also make a statement without having to do much else. Leopard print is the new neutral and should really be worn as just that.

Happy Wednesday!

The week is almost over! Just wanted to show a simple outfit that's great and comfortable. The best combination! I'm wearing an old Calvin Klein dress. It's a twist to a classic b&w dress since its skirt is leather<3 I threw over a burgundy and leather-sleeved varsity jacket since it's really starting to feel like fall here in Chicago. Of course, I threw on some great nike's for some fun and of course my "hands" clutch.

Happy New Year!
(I know, I'm a little late)

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season and new year festivities with their loved ones! For the last 3 years, my family and I have been blessed with taking trips down to Mexico. This year, we decided to head to lovely Phoenix, Arizona for our vacationing, as well as visiting some family. It was such a great time, and of course WARM! But after 2 weeks, back to the real world of -30 degree weather(yeah I said -30 degrees today).

kisses,

Karla

Hello my lovely viewers!

Today in Chicago, it has been a gloomy rainy day. I don't mind it much because number one, I love rain, and number two, it is a whole HECK of a lot warmer than it has been these past few months. So I'm definitely not complaining. The spring semester is coming to a close, and I can almost smell summer. Unfortunately for me, I will be taking a light summer load of classes as well(trying to hurry up and finish)!
Now to go and start my two papers that are going to be due soon.

Hope you're having an awesome start to your week!

Just a couple of things I would love to get my hands on in time for spring! The black booties are ideal all year round, and can be paired perfectly with dresses, skirts, and pants! I also don't own a pair, so they are an absolute must! This gorgeous crochet skirt comes in two great colors(shown above in both colors). I am pretty close to purchasing both! HELP! Which color do you like best??? I really love the flirty texture, and they are also great spring colors. Last but not least, some great floral trousers. Nothing says spring like some floral print!

(All this great stuff can be found here!, both colors here!, and these great booties! )

Cali Girl at Heart< 3

2013-12-07T16:12:00.000-08:00

This past week, a good friend and I got to travel to Long Beach! It was gorgeous to say the least, and it was nice to escape the freezing cold weather of Chicago, although it's still cold. Our adventurous souls got to travel to L.A. by train, meet new people, and try new things. California was good to us, and we want to go back!

We were also able to attend the National Youth Convention that is part of our denomination(Apostolic). Great preachings as well as many great bands.

This will not be the last time California hears from us!

California Dreamin'

2013-11-22T20:45:00.001-08:00

It just hit me. California in THREE days!! To be honest, I was strangely bummed about being away from my family for the holidays as well as my birthday, but now that it is merely around the corner, I've grown excited to go and explore! I'm so ready to soak up the sun and flee from this bitter cold in Chicago.
There is a yearly national church convention that I will be attending, which is the reason for my visit. Oddly for me, I still have been having the hardest time for putting together outfits to take! I usually have it all in my head weeks prior to a trip. This time? Not so much.
Here's what I have so far!

ps. so obsessed with my new purchases!!!(necklace, python shirt, distressed denim skirt!)

#Twinspired

These twins are FIERCE!!! They have such vibrant, fun and colorful personalities. Queens of anything NEON. They are one of my fashion icons! The way they are so daring with prints and colors beats any others I've ever seen! I love how they incorporate each others' identical colors and textures in their own way. Just looking at their outfits makes me so joyful and inspired. This is what I live for, to dress for myself and to feel comfortable and HAVE FUN! Here are some colorful shots to suit your fancy!

Stay twinspired!

Anthro Holiday Fashion Show!

2013-11-15T20:46:00.002-08:00

Yesterday was my very first Anthropologie Fashion Show I had the honor to attend. All the outfits styled by our in store personal shopper, Kris, were beyond inspiring! The holiday outfits are so much fun! They entail many bright fun colors, glitz and glam, and a lot of shiny things! It was lovely to see everyone there enjoying themselves over drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

Great job to everyone that worked during the fashion, whether it was styling, serving, cleaning, and those ringing up customers who couldn't wait to get their hands on some amazing holiday pieces!

Transition

2013-11-07T15:06:00.000-08:00

It's that time of year again! The weather gets a little crispier, and everywhere you go, you start to hear Christmas music. Things you do on your free time consists of having a cup of hot cocoa by a fire, or curled up under your warmest alpaca blanket. As much as I personally dislike any type of cold weather, the best thing about it?...layering. The first part of the transition from warm to cold is the best because it generally requires lighter layering, as opposed to "layer everything you own so you don't get frost-bite" which is the weather I can't stand! Us Chicagoans have been pretty lucky to not have gotten too much cold yet, which can basically happen whenever Chicago feels like it.
It's all about the sweaters, blazers and leather jackets to add some warmth!
Here are a few looks that I enjoy that show some range from warm to cool.

Enjoy!
