Great Wolf Lodge Adventures

Every evening, Great Wolf Lodge has a little animatronic puppet show. Some new-agey Mother Earth type stuff, and we've discussed this with the boys, but they love watching the puppets.

Heading down for some late-night ice cream and bowling... Will they go to sleep, do you think?

Where has the time gone? Jason and I found our camcorder recently... wow! Are we bad at moving files to our computer, or what?! We found so many videos of Lucas at 1 and 2 years old... such a baby! He is growing up way too fast!

Jack, of course, thought he was the one that was supposed to be unwrapping, so we had to pin him down and tickle him :)

An extremely silly Sully mask... the mouth and eye brows move when Lucas talks. We were all belly laughing at how funny it looked :)

Meeting President Lincoln

A park near our house hosted a Civil War camp and reenactment. Lucas is only just really starting to grasp the concept of "history," but we still tried to briefly explain the Civil War to him. The boys thought the whole idea of camping at "their" park was the coolest thing in the whole world. For Jason and I, we saw it all with new eyes as we explained everything to them. What would have been fascinating to us at the surgeon's tent, we had to pass by quickly so the boys wouldn't start crying. Blankets and pillows on the ground outside looked like an adventure. We were debating staying for the battle but decided against it when both boys started crying during gun practice. Oh well... maybe when they're older :)

Lucas and Jackson had a hard enough time adjusting to all of the people in funny clothing, but even I was startled a little bit when "President Lincoln" reached his hand out for mine and bowed over it instead of shaking :). I felt like I should throw a ball gown on and start dancing!

Apple Picking Fun

We are part of a local MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) group, and occasionally we do play dates. We were praying and hoping that it didn't rain when we were supposed to tour a nearby farm... the rain held off until right when we were planning on leaving anyway!

The boys had a blast taste-testing different varieties of apples, sipping on apple cider, learning about bee hives, wagon-riding, and apple picking. We went home and made homemade applesauce. It was amazing!!!

"Flying" Uncle No-No's Plane

Jason's maternal grandpa "Papa Miller" has been staying with J's parents for the past few weeks while Nana traveled overseas. J's brother Nolan wanted to show him the plane he owns/flies, and since the boys haven't seen it in about a year, we took them out to see it, too.

Papa M's Fur Baby came with him. Talk about a dog that is dedicated to her master!

The boys sat in the plane and "flew" with Uncle Nolan.

I had to get photos of Nolan and his baby...

Tea Time!

Lucas went to the gas station with Aunt Lauren yesterday. As they walked through the convenience store, Lucas stops her and says, "Aunt Lauren! My daddy loves this tea! It's his favorite! We have to get it for him!" Well, of course Lauren bought it :)

The funny part... Jason has maybe had it once in his entire life :)

Lucas gave it to Jason this morning and asked if we could have a tea party... so we did.

Of course, you must hold your pinky up when you drink tea!

The Boys' First Baseball Game

We took the boys to their first baseball game last Friday. Our minor league team here has a picnic area beyond the outfield which ended up being perfect for little children. We brought small gloves and baseballs for them to play with, and at one point, one of the photographers for the team sat down in the grass nearby and just kept shooting photos of Jack playing with his ball and glove. Yes, my children are adorable, and I will be looking forward to seeing him on your advertising materials :) (Jason checked. Apparently buying a ticket gives our consent).

Jack's baseball was plush... and it fits perfectly between the links in a fence... (whoopsie daisy!)

Needless to say, Lucas was not happy about donating a baseball...

Oh well... it was Star Wars night at Victory Field, and for some reason that called for fireworks after the game. Nope, no pictures. I've decided that fireworks are fireworks, and I'd rather cuddle with the boys on a large horse blanket and hear them whisper, "Oh! Peety!"

Dinner and a Movie

Jason and I are trying to find more things to do as a family, even if it seems "little." We typically have one pizza night a week, but restaurants and even frozen pizzas can add up... plus we didn't really count this as "doing something together." Instead, we decided to do a make-pizza-together night (both boys get turns helping). They felt so big getting to do this, and they loved that we were all hanging over the counter together.

I pulled out my kit lens since it's the only wide angle I have. It's been forever since I've used it, and I've never paid attention to all of the line distortion around the edges (note the stove top). However, the distortion is enough that it almost looks slightly fish-eye :)

Watching Oz while eating our pizza. Jack never sits still for movies, but he was engrossed for almost an hour!

I'm not apologizing for the lack of color... I love black and white. I feel like it can bring out so much emotion.

Jason and I can finally be called "Aunt" and "Uncle"!! Lauren (Jason's sister) and Corey had their little girl on July 11th, and let me tell 'ya--she is gorgeous!

Taking her newborn photos was so much fun, and I think I got a little carried away with dyeing cheesecloth wraps... :). I think I'm hooked...

I never thought I would really ever need or want a macro lens, but look at all of the detail you can see close up like fuzzy baby ears? (FYI... I don't have a macro lens. I just turned my prime around backwards...)

I tried my hand at a composite photo, and it worked out so well! (Since a newborn can't actually hold her own head up like this, we took one photo with Lauren holding the top of her head and one holding her chin then spliced them together).

These two, as much as they get annoyed with a camera in their faces all the time, they couldn't stand that someone else was in the limelight :)

Isn't she beautiful?! Look at that smile!

I've recently realized how few of our pictures have me in them... something I plan on changing. Thankfully, Jason was able to capture the crazy that is bedtime around here :)
