Red Dresser with hand painted typography

I love three drawer dressers. And I love red.

I painted this with Plaster Paint in Red Ruby.

I chose Ivory Lace for the font and then a dark glaze over the entire dresser before sealing it with liquid wax.

The client picked out the hardware from Hobby Lobby.

The original hardware was pulls so there were two holes for each pull. We filled the holes (twice) and sanded them down so that the holes weren't visible any longer.

I think it turned out super pretty. It's going to be picked up next week and will be a statement piece for someone's big, southern porch.

We are trying to finish up orders so we can close the shop and get ready for vacation. We only take BIG vacations every so often and this is a big one for us. I think Eddie and I are as excited as the kids. Ha!

I will share more about that soon. I just wanted to remind you guys about our end of the month flash sale on FB, Three Mango Seeds. Sale starts at 6pm CST and is usually over at 7pm CST. Rustic Table with Antique Castor Wheels

We needed a good table on wheels for shows. I think this one fits the bill.

I love the vintage industrial castor wheels that we found on Etsy.

Eddie created a herringbone pattern on top that turned out great.

We'll be able to use it in our booth as a display or use it at local shows with crates and baskets.

Custom "X" Console Table

Eddie has been building these custom tables for a little while now and people seem to love them.

The client shares with us the measurements that will best fit their space. He builds it and I paint it. We're a good team.

This particular table was painted with a pretty shade of white, slightly distressed and sealed. The top was stained with a special mix of Provincial and Jacobean.

We will be delivering it one day this week to it's forever home. I Can't wait.

The wood grain turned out so pretty on this one.

Dresser makeover

We've had this dresser stacked in our garage along with some other furniture for a little over a year now. My goal this weekend was to begin finishing some of these furniture projects so we can get our garage organized.

I am super happy. I finished two furniture projects this weekend.

The color / brand paint we used was Plaster Paint Toasted Marshmallow then glazed. We left the *original* hardware naturally aged.

This dresser came with a thick glass top, that was slightly over-sized but we still used it.

Eddie built a small shelf that would be great for a basket or turn it into a component shelf with a flat screen on top.

NEW! Ready to ship section added to our Etsy shop

Hey guys! We are excited to be adding a new section to our Etsy shop where all the signs listed in the "Ready to Ship" section will be READY TO SHIP as soon as you purchase. The quantity will be limited between 1 and 3 signs per design and will change from month to month.

Hopefully, this will be a much better way of handling our monthly flash sale. Using Etsy to host it will be so much better by making the checkout process fast and easy plus your sign will ship right away.

Here's a new twist to our very popular "Best Things" sign.

Keep in mind that signs offered during our flash sale on the last day of the month will not normally be signs that are shared in the shop and once they are gone...they are gone.

These are just a few of the signs that will be listed on July 31st.

The day of the flash sale we will share more on Instagram & Facebook about how many designs we will list.

DIY Industrial shelves

Our teenage son has an opinion when it comes to his room. He isn't at the age where I can do what I want to his room anymore, although I did persuade him to go the industrial route and so far so good.

The room itself has been a work in progress for quite some time because we work on projects when we can pay cash for them AND working around shop orders is a little tricky lately.

We started with the floor several months back when we ripped out all the carpet and laid wood floor style plank tiles. You can see that project here.

Now, back to the shelving that was built for his TV and gaming stuff. We started from the bottom and worked our way up. We measured everything he wanted on the shelf, where he wanted it on the shelves and made adjustments as we worked.

Oh, I almost forgot. We added a faux brick wall behind the shelves and painted it white. We love the dimension that it added once the project was complete.

So happy with how it turned out.

I need a wide angle lens to take better images of the "after" but I haven't gotten one yet so bear with me on these final images.

We have a cord protector that we will paint white to hide all of the component cords.

Eventually, we will hang the fire helmets on either side of his television, we just haven't found the right hooks yet.

Love them. So glad we did this project. All of his stuff looks organized and "clean" against the white wall.

This entire project, including the faux brick wall, took us two full days / evenings to complete. Not bad at all.

FARMHOUSE inspired table

This Farmhouse inspired table would be perfect as a changing table, knick knack display or a television console with baskets on the shelf to hide all your movies.

We've had a few requests for raw, unfinished furniture so the customer can finish it themselves.

Rustic Wedding Guestbook

We have had several requests for the large rustic wedding guestbooks but the other day we received a request for a smaller square size.

The heart is stretched a little bit differently than our large one by request so that guests have more room to sign. (Paint color is Grey Silk.)

Dimensions are approximately 25 x 25 inches. (Square)

Use our color chart for the color of the heart or we can also use paint colors found at Home Depot.

Vintage Teacup Succulents

I love indoor plants & I have several vintage teacups that belonged to my grandma that I have had stored for years.

I figured I could add a few succulents so that I could bring them out of storage plus the girls would love to have these in their rooms.

Why did I wait so long to do something with them?

Planting them took literally about 10 minutes for both. Plus, the succulents are drought resistant so if we forget to water them they'll still be just fine.

Laundry Room Folding Table

It's finally finished! We always have projects going on at our house, but the thing is that they are usually for someone else. That means that "our" projects are always finished last, when we have a little spare time, which doesn't happen very often.

Here's how this folding table sat for several months in our garage.

Eddie built it specifically to fit these baskets.

We like to stain first then paint secondly. We created this custom stain color by using Provincial and Jacobean stain. Applied three coats and finished it off with liquid wax in matte.

I knew I wanted the body of the table to have a white distressed, two-tone look to it and I wanted the bottom layer to appear to be a dark wood tone. To achieve that look I painted the entire base in a dark brown paint. Espresso from Plaster Paint.

After the basecoat dried I applied a light sealer so that when I begin to distress my table later I wouldn't be able to see the raw wood beneath this brown basecoat.

I really watered down my basecoat so it would apply quickly and easily. I didn't really care if it covered completely since I was going to heavily distress it anyway.

**TIP** If you water down paint, always use bottled water. The minerals in tap water mix with the additives in Plaster Paint and stink to high heaven!

Keep in mind that there is no right or wrong way when watering down your paint. Find a consistency that you like, not too thick and not too runny.

Let your topcoat dry completely. Here's what so great about this paint -- distressing with a wet rag!

I use my hubby's old white t-shirts. I like to distress where the piece would naturally age over time, sharp corners and edges. If you take off too much, simply paint back over it and let it dry.

The pictures don't do the top justice. Seriously, I'm not even kidding.

Here it is actually in our laundry room where it has made doing laundry so much easier!

Our washer / dryer are on the exact opposite wall so its a little hard to get good pictures in this room.

Pay no mind to the paint touch-ups that are waiting to be fixed. Our washer went out last July then two weeks later our dryer bit the dust as well. Not a good week I'll tell ya! We bought the same brand hoping that they would fit the old pedestals. Guess what? They didn't fit and I was not about to pay nearly $500 for them so Eddie built this. I love it so much more than I ever did those pedestals.

Yay for finished projects! Feels good to mark one more off the list!

Welcome Bench

We were at our local auction some time back and an old antique bed frame came up for bidding. Eddie snatched it right up. Here's the transformation.

He used the footboard to create the sides, a rail for the front and pine for the bench seat.

I created a custom mix of paint using Toasted Marshmallow & Espresso Plaster Paint and applied one half hazard base coat.

I also created a custom stain mix using Jacobean & Provincial wood stain for the bench seat.

After the basecoat was dry I painted it with Sweet Cream. See that faux brick? Check back next week and I'll show you what we did with that.

Next, I distressed & added the WELCOME typography on the back of the bench and began filling it in.

Finished it off with liquid sealer in matte.

And here it is in it's new home...

We've done so many signs lately that it was a nice break and FUN to do some furniture again!

Baby, it's COLD outside!

It's 17 degree's out today according to our digital outdoor thermometer. Kitty wants to go outside, then he's ready to come right back in about 5 seconds later.

Gus & Toby are nearly underneath the fireplace in order to keep warm. Little hotdogs.

Our oldest has pushed a comfy leather chair right in front of the fire while she works on homework.

And I'm working on orders, trying to clean up house, do laundry, prepare for the Flash Sale on Saturday and stay warm myself. I'm wearing two pair of socks and two shirts.

Is Spring almost here? What are you up to today?

Rustic Wood Signs

We are adding a couple new signs to the shop today and wanted to share them with you.

This is a fairly popular sign design that's all over but we just had to see it on color washed rustic wood. We actually made this for our own home, but it didn't work out so we sold it on our FB page. It seemed to be a pretty big hit so we added it to the shop. We'll see what happens with it.

What do you think? I've looked and didn't see anything made like it so hopefully that difference will set it apart from all the other "You & Me's" out there.

Our Best things in Life sign have kept us quite busy over the last several months. I was so surprised at the response it's gotten so THANK YOU!

We have had numerous requests to create this saying horizontally and just haven't had the time.

Until now. It's done and we can't wait to show you guys to see if y'all love it as much as we do!

The fleur de lis was a client request and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We will offer another variation soon that we'll share on our Facebook page so be sure to follow along there.

We are happy with how these turned out. I can't wait to get this last one in the etsy shop.

FARM TABLE

I've wanted a table out on the back patio for a long, long time. I finally got one. And I love it!

For us, black is the perfect color -- especially since its outdoors. The naturally stained top is holding up nicely.

The benches are perfect.

I think my man did a fantastic job. He's a keeper for sure. Although, I tried to talk him into making another one for the dining room -- I'm still waiting! LOL

I can't believe we are already thinking about Christmas.

But Christmas orders are already coming in so we are adding another fun sign to the shop. Who doesn't like a little sparkle for the holidays?

Each sign is hand painted then German Glass glitter is added. The glitter is made by a lining of pure silver underneath real glass shards therefore it will age to a beautiful patina.
