You guys…it’s FINALLY here!  After two months of working day and night, #TheHighlandsHouse is D-O-N-E, and I couldn’t be more excited!  Oh wait, yes, I could be, because on top of it being done, YOU have the opportunity to come and tour it, which means I have the opportunity to meet all of you!  We will be having an open house this upcoming Saturday and Sunday, March 25th & 26th, from 12-4pm, and I would absolutely LOVE to see you all there.

For me, the perfect living room must have a few key elements:

• A comfy, but eye-catching couch or sectional
• Adequate seating
• Be light and bright
• Feel elegant, yet relaxed enough to actually use and live in
• Have various textures to add depth

I put together this idea board using pieces from Arhaus, and I must say, I’m kind of in love with it.  I just want to jump through my computer screen and dive onto that couch.  I love that it is warm and inviting, yet it still has clean lines and comes across polished.  I debating using one of their sectionals, but ultimately, when I paired the Emory Sofa with the formal wingback chairs, it was just a match made in heaven.  But don’t take my word for you, see for yourself.

In March of this year, I decided to quit my full time day job and try my hand at this whole being your own boss thing.  And let me tell you, that is the best decision I have ever made.  Probably one of the scariest, but definitely the best.  The Type A in me wanted to have my new website launched, blog redesigned, and all the pretty details (or not so pretty details) hashed out before jumping into entrepreneur land…BUT, life is messy, and when opportunity knocks, you answer the door.  So bear with me over the next month or so as a lot of changes happen around these parts.  We’re striving for progress, not perfection here folks.

In addition to that crazy life change, I am happy to announce that all of the renovations are D-O-N-E on #theharriethouse, AND on top of that, it has since sold.  Talk about a huuuge stress reliever.  I’ll be sharing all of the before and after pictures this week (and trust me, you want to see that transformation), so…stay tuned.

Being absent from blogland for 2+ years leaves you with all of these ideas bouncing around in your head, and while I can’t wait to jump in and share them with you guys, we’re going to keep this post short and sweet.  After all, it is Memorial Day Weekend and you should be out celebrating. :)  See you all back here on Tuesday!

We ran some wire a while back, but we haven’t quite finished running everything in the kitchen; we just have a few more circuits to run, and we have to install all of our new lighting.  Basically, what this means is I need to figure out what lights we’re getting.  And with that being said, I have two goals for our kitchen island pendants: keep it industrial, and keep it affordable.  So today I thought I’d round up my top 10 industrial pendants, all of which come in under $100.

I think I’m leading towards the Pottery Barn Pendant, but I think I would probably go with chrome instead of black.  Which is your favorite?  Which would you put in our kitchen, or in your own?  Let me know!
