A small banner of a familiar character from a children's book caught my eye while riding on a bus on the way to work in downtown Denver. It was Max, the king of the wild things in the legendary children's book author and illustrator Maurice Sendak's most beloved book, Where the Wild Things Are. var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-4598340-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview'])

Unfortunately, a ceramic pottery studio requires a lot of space and safety precautions. Those two things are impossible to have for now. Luckily, while things were getting back to "normal" last summer, I attended a sculpture ceramic pottery workshop at the

Now that companies and economies are slowly opening after all the COVID-19 pandemic caused unemployment for millions of people, the challenge of looking for a job is even greater this 2021 because of tough competition. But you can increase your chances of getting hired on your dream job by following what I’ve learned in creating a successful resume when I was job hunting."The Search" acrylic on

It’s a magical moment whenever you meet an extraordinary person you didn’t even imagine you could connect with, but that would later be very instrumental in your success. The moment was like that when I met Prof. Leo Abaya at the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) assembly of senior graduate students at UP. I already knew his popular name and huge reputation in the Filipino art community, fine arts academe

For the ones who rejected the imagery, occult means only one thing: satanic…I was like, what?

I learned more about Frida back in MFA through my closest friend who's so much into her life. I never thought I'd see her in a different light through the Denver Art Museum exhibit, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism. She's a dahling of great photographers of her time. And who wouldn't–she's got unique fashion sense and interesting life story. I mean love life too. But most of

Isolated, we turn to and create so much art, because it heals. Seeing through the lens of a transplant, having the chance to look at how each unique worlds cope can be neutralizing in itself. The role of art (visual, music, or motion) changes greatly far beyond six feet apart, even wider when survival is at stake.   On one side, art is the process, a medium–a channel

A couple of firsts for me: first time to go to Denver Art Museum, a "world-class museum," and my first time seeing a collection of world-famous paintings by Claude Monet (#MonetatDAM). Having said that, I've set my expectations really very high, but also kept my emotions in check to balance my grip on reality. We arrived early at the Denver Art Museum, a cool triangular building that

Two important shows that keep me afloat creatively this year. First, this painting will be part of CANVAS' 10th annual Looking for Juan Outdoor Art Banner Project on August 18, 2018, at the Bulwagan ng Dangal, University of the Philippines Diliman (UP). Then into the tiny hands of many children and kids-at-heart! I never thought I could pull this major project off, given that this drawing arm has been aching for several months after an injury. The journey started with a team of writers, artists, and photographers from CANVAS to research and document on the oral traditions of the Tagbanua ethnic group in Coron, Palawan.
